VOLTAIRE

Moons passed since the last gathering of his herd. His herd. No longer that of the heartbroken stallion. Flighty was nothing to him now. Once the fearless leader, now the shunned of the herd. The blue stallion was now the leader of the herd, and it was all his. No one else's. He decided to give a cry, and anyone would have thought it was a summon of death. No. He was just simply calling forth his loyal, if not, members of his herd.

The wind was rough, and the moon was high. It was the perfect time to call forth the azrein of his kind. If they were. His mind flashed, remembering the traitor that once was apart of the lands. Razien. And there were many others who decided to leave the south and join forces with the north. Foolish creatures they were. Did they not know that the forces of the Six would rise once more? Valdien was dead after all, and what could that new deity so-called son of his do? Whatever his name was anyways. Who even cared when he just had to focus on the doings of tonight now.

Oh yes. It was Varian. What a weird name like his father's.

"I know! And imagine how fun it would be being able to travel to the-" The mare stopped, cut off by a familiar cry, but one with a much different tone. It could have only belonged to one. Her father. Voltaire. She felt a bit out of place, hearing the call and that she was not even yet going to follow the summoning. "Just imagine. We can finally find the rest of your family and then-" she was cut off again.

Blushing, the mare excused herself, turning her neck around toward the direction her father must have been and shouted. "OH, I'M COMING DAD!" One would have expected her to leave where she was right now, but she did not and apologized herself to the azrein she was speaking to. "I'm so sorry, but can we continue this some other time? I think my dad actually means it this time."

As she departed her acquaintance for the company of her father, the buds on her man enlarged, sensing that something clearly was the matter.

NALLA EN' MELA

She stood, listening to the blue and pink mare blab about possible adventures that the two could share during the future. Why in the world would she even want to go around the isle with her? She could not even fly for demon's sake! What a mistake it was, approaching the mare who looked evil, but was clearly something like her sister. Obviously dumb. Gullible in a way.

"Oh, um, okay. I'll be right here waiting for you." she sneered, ears pricked forth every time a call was given. Sounded pretty desperate, but urgent to her. Nalla did hear about the rising of the blue stallion a while ago, so could she have found the right herd? Which meant that the mare she was speaking to was related to him. Could it be that the oddly formed mare was his daughter? That meant that she had complete access to him.

If only. If only she was in his presence. Then it hit her. She knew the blue and pink mare in a small, sort of annoying way, but the daughter of the herd leader seemed to be fond of her. So of course she would be able to hear into their conversation, right? After watching the blue and pink mare depart for a while, the skeleton marked mare flitted her wings, for they were awfully light, but seemed to work just fine, and followed the mare a great distance above.

The call was just unbearable. That was his call, not the wretched horned stallion's. The rightful leader stallion was himself, not Voltaire. What a fool he was, believing that giving his son to the blue stallion would lower the tension between the two for a while.

The jerk nearly killed his son for demon's sake! And for what? Vengeance? I thought that we were long time over that, old friend. he coldly thought, scraping his hooves into the rocky terrain underneath him. There was enough hate this stallion already carried, and just thinking about being betrayed was just too much for him. Heck. Voltaire was one of his best friends, and since foalhood! Not to mention that now the blue stallion was his only friend. Would he really allow the changing of dominance ruin their friendship?

He knew that he did not, but Voltaire? Maybe. He knew how much his new leader hated doubters, and especially possible threats to challenging his position. It was only Flighty for now who was the only threat to the leader's position, and without much hesitation, left his nest to head towards where his leader was.

Once he approached, he noticed that he was the first, and walked up to the meeting place, dipping his head in greeting to the horned leader. "It's been a while Voltaire."

VOLTAIRE

How long do these ponies even take to arrive? He called a while ago, and still no one was around. That blasted Flighty! He probably told them not to come if I ever called! The stallion raged, ramming himself to a nearby dead tree. He was not stuck, but he did slowly rotate his head side to side, attempting to sharpen his horns. If Flighty wanted to rebel, then he would have to pay the consequences, even if that meant being exalted. Voltaire refused to take any risks, and if his friend wanted to become his enemy, then so be it. He was ready to fight.

Eventually he pulled himself out of the tree, sucking up the sap that was in it. Bitter, but nutritious. He refused to allow his herd anywhere close to the north, even the neutral lands. No. He did not want any of his herd to fall into what Flighty did. Fall in love with an outsider. Just look at how weak it made him. It was disgusting. He heard hoofsteps approaching, and narrowed his eyes when it was just the stallion he was thinking about.

"And why are you here?" he barked, baring his teeth. "Don't you remember that you are to not come to the gatherings anymore? Or did you forget that?" He walked closer to Flighty, scratching the stallion's sides with pleasure. Voltaire noticed that there were some blood dripping out of his herd mate's side, and smiled. "Oh, and in case you were wondering, that thing you call for a son is safe. He's coming tonight if you want to see him."

ROUGESE

If only Rougese listened to her father more often during their training lessons then she would have known that she was being hunted from above. She did not sense anything though, and she just wanted to reach her father as soon, or as late as possible. She was aware of his temper, but she was his daughter. He'd have to cut her some slack. Besides, she was still just a yearling! They just had an eight hour training session earlier today.

Why couldn't you just tell him? Why do you have to be so afraid of what he would say? He won't hurt you, he loves you, and you know that. That was what kept bothering her. She wanted to explore the isle and find the right place for her. How would she even know if she were to be stuck in the exact same acre of territory for the rest of her life? She knew that she deserved the right to explore and settle down. Clearly her father did, so why was he so afraid of letting her go?

As she turned the corner to a lone tree, she caught the sight of her father and smiled. He was still there, patiently waiting for her, but then she traced where her father was looking at. A multi-maroon colored stallion. Who was this? An outsider perhaps? She saw the aggression her father was showing, and could not bare it. "Daddy!" she called, trotting up to the stranger, trying to protect him from her father. "Why are you hurting him?"

VOLTAIRE

He cringed a bit by the appearance of his daughter, caught up with his business with the stallion before him. "Daddy. Why are you hurting him." Those words hit the blue stallion. And they hit him hard. He wanted to back off, but this was his herd, and this was his daughter. She would have to learn the ways of her kind soon, and now would have to be it. With or without her mother and sister, wherever they were.

He snorted, and then laughed at Rougese. Beautiful she was, but too naive of the world around her. "Why?" he snorted, breathing into his daughter. "That stallion that you are trying to guard is nothing to the herd. He decided to betray us when we needed him the most. Do you recognize him now daughter? This is the father of Nasu. Oh, you remember Nasu right?" Words can be used to torment both of his herdmates, but he did not want to harm his daughter. No. Not in front of Flighty and not in front of anyone else. She was much too special to him now.

He twisted his neck a bit staring his daughter down, motioning for her to step aside. He wanted to get this over with and then talk to his daughter about what she would have to do next. He just knew what it would be just this occasion. "Move aside."

Flighty stood his ground, and took in the blows of Voltaire. It was common for the herd leaders to strike their herd members after all. Even Flighty himself struck a few of his friends as a punishment. This was completely different though. "You called me over?" he snorted. "Haven't you learned the difference of cries yet, oh so feared leader?" he asked quite sarcastically.

Nothing would be able to lower this stallion's mood now. Just hearing about Nasu half enraged Flighty more, but also gave him hope. There was some decency in his friend after all.

"You tried to go after her. You promised that you would not."

He was then stopped by the cries of a stranger looking mare. Daddy. Wait. Since when was Voltaire a father? Dang, she does look like him in a freaky sort of way. he thought tossing his head. He did not need some guardian. He was able to fend his own life without his leader's daughter coming to the rescue. "Hey mare mo-" He once again got interruped by Voltaire and enraged at the words he had to say.

"Nothing to you now Voltaire. Do you not remember when you were a foal though? Who came to your rescue?" As the blue stallion directed for his daughter to move, Flighty decided to himself, dashing passed Rougese and rammed himself into Voltaire, biting into the blue stallion's neck.

The words of her father practically killed her. Voltaire would not let go of the past, now would he?! "I don't think that he betrayed us." she snorted defiantly, knowing the punishment that she could possibly receive for speaking to the blue stallion like that. Her father was no monster, he was just trying to protect his herd, and mainly his own safety.

"Nasu did nothing wrong! The stallion who took him just - " she was cut off by Voltaire's command to move, but was frozen. She could not bear seeing her father strike the maroon ex-leader. Without much warning, the stallion bolted passed her, causing the mare to close her eyes once more and try to not imagine the bad of this gathering.
