APARTMENT #1

The place was a dump. The ceiling drooped in an alarming way and they could hear the neighbors argue on either side of them. Here and there were a couple of bugs skittering their way across the walls which prompted Freya to suddenly grasp onto Kettil's arm while stood there trying not to notice the strong smell of rotted foods. The elderly crone that would be their landlord turned toward them with large watery looking eyes, "So what ya think dearies?"

Kettil didn't even have time to speak before Freya said a very firm and loud, "NOPE." and then dragged him out leaving the bewildered elderly crone to stare off behind them.

He didn't even fight it as she dragged him down the street, "Next place?"

She was too busy yelling, "NOPENOPENOPENOPENOPE."

APARTMENT #2

She was certain nothing could be worse than the first place they'd gone to, but there were different levels of worse that she wasn't prepared for. When they entered a lavish, beautiful apartment, her heart soared with joy and need, until they were told of the price tag.

That was more money than she'd ever heard before in her life.. and that was the monthly fee.

Yes, being that painfully disappointed was far, far worse.

APARTMENT #3

It took a lot of cajoling to get Freya to try for another place. Kettil agreed that the apartment she had wanted was pretty damn awesome, but it was way, way out of his and her price range right now. He had every confidence that one day they'd be able to buy whatever their hearts desired but today wasn't that day.

"You do know, I don't want to live in an apartment forever. They usually don't have enough rooms for big families," Kettil was saying as he opened the door to look at the next apartment.

A strong smell hit his nostrils and he shut the door looking a little unwell, "...I think something kept dead things in there..."

Or a zombie was living in that particular apartment on some of Halloween's hottest days.

APARTMENT #3

"I knows." Freya crooned out, appeased by the idea that Kettil wanted a big family just as much as she did. But the smell that hit her had her running away screaming - something about her Fear being corrupted by that smell and she was impotent now -

Apartment #4

There were a few things that made the apartment okay.

It had a nice view but only one bedroom. It had a very small closet. The kitchen seemed non-existent. The bathroom was a glorified hole in the wall with what looked a couple of buckets for ... he didn't even want to guess.

Kettil was pretty sure the ad on the interwebs lied to them about pretty much everything, he was not amused as he stared straight ahead and just exited. "I hate this place."

There was absolutely no convincing him to look it over again.

APARTMENT #5

There was no closet.

APARTMENT #6

There was no closet.

APARTMENT #7

There was no closet.

Freya felt laced with layers of guilt over turning down completely acceptable apartments just because they had no closet. There had been apartments in good neighborhoods, with beautiful views, and lovely rooms. She could have seen herself raising a family in any one of them. But family wasn't all that mattered to her, though it was certainly the most important thing. Her work, her passion, needed space. And that space needed to be big enough to fit everything. Clothes, shoes, hats, bags, dress mannequins, mirrors - she knew that a closet had to come for an apartment to be home.

And as time continued, and she became more famous (a fact she didn't question, she faithfully believed she was destined to be a celebrity in some fashion) she knew the wardrobe that filled that closet would only continue to grow, and need space to do so. There was no denying how important this particular room - if it could even be called a room - was, for her lifestyle.

So she pushed down the guilt, and pushed forward - searching for the perfect apartment with a nice, big closet.

Apartment #8

The apartment was only one room - apparently it used to be a closet. It was a very tight fit.

APARTMENT #9

"No, I needs a big closet, a BIG CLOSET, A BIIIIG-"

The next apartment did have a big closet.. and an extra little room for their not-so-distant future scarelings, and it had.. it had.. everything. How did it possibly have everything?

A price was laid down. It was high, but she expected so much higher. After all, for a closet like that..

"I'll works twice as hard. Takes every modeling job that gets thrown at me. I knows we can manage it, Hooter." She was whispering this to him, after pulling him away from the apartment owner to talk it over. In fact, she'd pulled him into that very closet that was sealing the apartments fate.

"I mean looks," She flopped down on the ground, and made imaginary snow angels on the floor. "Looks at all this space."

Kettil was pretty damn impressed with the non-closet things. Like a bathroom with a square toilet, he wasn't sure why but it amused him to no end. He also liked the kitchen and the other rooms as well. The price presented had left him a little crestfallen even as Freya vowed and dragged him into the closet to talk it over.

He knelt down next to her and tilted his head as he reached out and poked at her nose. If she wanted the space this badly? It'd be okay. Kettil knew they could do it.

Hopefully.

"We will work hard together. This doesn't have to go all on your shoulders, screechie," he laughed lightly. "Let's see what all we need to sign to get the place, hm?"

It was pretty much a 'yes'. Then again he could rarely say no to Freya.

She really thought he was going to find the willpower to say no.

When he touched her nose, she whined, pulling her hands and arms in to pull him closer. But she froze as soon as he told her his answer, and let it sink in for a minute.

....

.......

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!"

Tumbling him down with her, Freya hugged the stuffing right out of her husband. They'd found home!

He laughed as he went and hugged her in return, he'd allowed for her to pull him down and he just clung onto her for dear life. Kettil wasn't aware just how prepared she was for him to say 'no', and it was likely better that way. He kissed her cheek in a playfully sloppy fashion, "WE WIN THE GAME! NOW WE GET TO FURNISH IT."

...Furnishing an apartment sounded scary.

He sort of paused, "..Doweevenhaveenoughstuff?"

What a silly question! She pushed herself up into a seated position, helping him back up as well. "We'll get stuff. And we'll make stuff. That's the point of gettings a new place teh lives, yeh gets teh finds things that will look nice in it!"

She put her hands on his behind, and tried to push him up to his feet. "GO SIGNS GO SIGNS GO - oh hello yes - " The apartment owner had finally come to check on them, finding them in a vaguely compromising position. "Yes.. ach.. we have decided.. teh takes it."

She continued to push Kettil's butt and whispered. "Gosigngosignsosign."

Kettil let her help him up, "BUT THAT'S HARRRRRRD," he playfully leaned against her pushing for just a second or two to make life more difficult. He was excited for their lives together but that didn't mean he couldn't tease Freya a bit. At least until she put her hands on his butt, "Woah, woah, hey! Don't push that button unless you plan to--," he gazed over at the apartment owner as they came in.

"..Hey! We'll take it," he echoed Freya. Kettil was soon on his feet and even sooner he was signing paperwork to get the apartment.

It would suit them for a small while.

Choosing was the hard part. Moving in was the fun part. Shopping for decor was the best part. By the time Freya felt settled in, she was so filled with delight that it radiated from every pore of her body, and had her lounging on her soft little couch and making little sounds of happiness.

Everything was perfect.

Well.

Not everything.

The day she convinced Kettil to go with her, to apply for their marriage certificate so they could have a real wedding, she knew that they were well on the way to perfection. That blissful, floaty feeling came crashing to the ground the moment they were told, quite firmly, one very surprising fact.

"You're already married."

"WHAAAAAAAT?"

"Sure, says so right here, in the list of contracts, you two were sworn married by a demon, how do you not - don't you have his mark on you, when he- GACK-"

Freya grabbed the attendant at the office and started shaking him thoroughly, throttling him around the neck while Kettil tried to pull her off of him. When he finally succeeded, Freya took a step back, and a deep breath.

And then it hit her.

"THAAAAAAAAAACCCKKKKKKEEEEEEEERRYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Kettil didn't mind shopping, but for the most part he just settled for hanging back at home and getting everything set the way Freya wanted it or alternately wandering home to finish setting up his apprenticeship with his father. This way, hopefully soon, money wouldn't be too much of an issue.

Basically? He was free to run errands with Freya when she convinced him to go along. Then he almost wished he hadn't. It took a lot of strength to pull his wife off of the poor clerk. He was bewildered but not quite betrayed.

He hadn't thought anything of it at all at least until now. Freya had said enough for the both of them on the matter. "Lots of couples get married more than once, screechie. We can too! We'll get all the stuff and invite our families..." He was gently pulling out of the building before she started rampaging and bringing the place down.

Secretly he was happy either way. He was still married to the love of his life.
