" Since we're looking for something already, we may as well help," Bitter End had told her companion. " It's probably a good idea to do a legendary a favour. You never know when you might need one from them..." Not that she was expecting a reply, and certainly not one against her decision. It was merely information, and she was constantly looking back, making sure she kept up. For a mysterious crazy evil swamp witch, she was very ditzy and kept wandering off, for some reason. That girl was kind of slow.

Sleepless was exhausted. For the past few nights, she had been steadfastly living up to her name. As soon as darkness fell - as soon as Bitter End’s back was turned, actually - she was off like a shot, trying her hardest to escape from this mad doe. How she had tried! She had tried straight out running. She had tried hiding in bushes. She had tried running through bushes. No matter how fast she was, how quiet, how sneaky, whatever she did, there was Bitter End again, always there to drag her back into captivity.
Sleepless wondered - how she wondered - if she had done something terrible - unspeakably terrible - in this life or the last. Perhaps this was a divine punishment. A personal hell on Earth.
”Yeah,” she wearily replied.

"That's useless, but pretty." Bitter End said of the first spiderweb they encountered on the way, peering at the intricate lacing. "I guess I'll take it along. Stand back, your horns will muck it up."
With a gentle sweeping of her tail, she gathered it up somehow.

”Sure, whatever,” she muttered as End fussed around with the cobweb. Stepping away, her ear twitched up as it suddenly picked up a faint buzz.
”Hmm,” beeswax had been on the list, she knew. She walked onward, following the sound - till there it was, the massive hive.
”Well, this isn’t going to be easy...” ...or maybe it was. All she needed, really, was a distraction, after all. For the first time in days, a thin smile crept over her lips.
”Hey, End! Over here!”

"What?" End yelled, lumbering in her direction, mildly irritated that she'd wandered off but had, at least, called her over. She inelegantly managed to stomp on every twig on the way, and came trotting loudly into Sleepless' vicinity and straight into the hive.
The massive, massive hive.
There was a cry that was a cross being a scream and a growl and she went galloping into the other direction, a faint cry of "SLEEPLESSSSSSS" that trailed off into the swamp, swallowed by the swarming sound of bees right on her tail.

Barely able to contain her glee, Sleepless nipped into the hive and prised out a healthy chunk of beeswax. Jamming it firmly between her jaws, she started to - RUN. JUST RUN. Maybe she could make it back to Never Idle’s before Bitter End caught up! Maybe she could just drop the beeswax off and then she could be free! Free of her tormentor!
SUCCESS! #1

Rather unfortunately for Sleepless, End had run straight into her path, this time devoid of bees. "I went back to look for you!" She said in disgust, shaking twigs from her mane - the only remnants from her bee encounter, for she was free of stings and just annoyed. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised you were gone. I wouldn't want to stay there either." She grumbled, admitting defeat to logic. "Opportunistic beeswax grab, I see. Let's go."

Her jaw dropped, the beeswax thudding onto the ground. How did she - didn’t she just - she - she hadn’t even been stung! With a sinking heart, she bid farewell to her dream of freedom, picked up the beeswax once more, and followed End’s lead.

"Wow, pretty." She said with a tone of flat boredom. "About as pretty and useless as the spiderweb. Maybe I'll get to trade it off." She carefully maneuvered her tail under the ribbons of bark, curling it over and around, careful not to break the web. "Or get bonus legendary points when I bring in extra pretty stuff."

Bark ribbons… Sleepless rolled her eyes. First, spiderwebs, and now bark ribbons, how did Bitter End think she was going to carry all the fluff she ran into today, she didn’t kno - oh. As if drawn by some magnetic force, she trotted into the middle of the clearing, where a smooth skull lay, perfectly bleached by the sun.
It’s lynx… she thought, peering closely. It was beautiful. ...Weeelll, as long as Bitter End was going to pick random things up…
”Erber heregh,” she called through the beeswax.

End wandered over holding her tail upright, and looked at Sleepless, then the skull. "Oh look, a skull." She said, interest vaguely piqued. "Maybe that's what made the ribbons, huh?"
She kicked it with a derisive little laugh. It rolled a couple of rounds, right smack into a sharp rock, and shattered.
"It was dead anyway." She said with a shrug and venom for the inevitability of death.

There were hoofsteps. End looked up and witness the dramatic entrance of a wizened old mare. The commotion (or however much of a commotion of two does and one shattering skull could cause) had presumably drawn her over, and she hissed at them, and made unintelligible angry noises. It was all quite amusing until she reared at them and started to charge.
As End embarked on her second escapade for the day, she yelled at Sleepless: "Was that some kind of hex or something?! Or was that the lack of teeth???"

"I DON’T KNOW WHAT I EXPECT YOU TO SAY WITH THAT BEESWAX," She mused loudly over the sound of the wind in their ears.
