You thought you found the perfect branch--but it snaps cleanly in two when you try to move it. Argh! He wandered into Never Idle's building site on accident intent on following a giant moth or maybe it was a giant leaf. It had been red and he'd taken to following on a whim. Only to become solely distracted by all the kin wandering to and fro. And after the list had been rattled off (more than once, less than a dozen times), he'd decided to try his hoof at helping. The list had dwindled with each step and then morphed into nonsense. (He wondered if a woven mouth was anything like being tongue tied and he still couldn't figure out why anyone would want a turtle made out of clay. A branch, though, he remembered that. And when it breaks in his mouth, he rolls his shoulders in a shrug. He takes the twin branches back, useless as they'll be to the Legendary, and decides to try memorizing more items while he's there.

The shell of a hatched Acha egg lies in the mud. Wobbly hoofprints totter away from it, and if you follow them, you will find that they wander into the grass alongside the hooves of many others--a happy ending for a new spring foal. He follows the hoofprints -- ruined shell pieces scattered along his back -- for an ungodly amount of time. Slow, steady, until he's passed in a circle and on his way back to the building site without even knowing it.

You thought you found the perfect branch--but it snaps cleanly in two when you try to move it. Argh! He stands back, stick broken and one end falling out each side of his mouth. This isn't right. Still he puts the twigs on his back. And moves onward; chanting under his breath: sturdy branch, red feathers, a lynx made of leaves, familiars for snacks, sturdy branch, red feathers...

A Kin has died here, perhaps this past winter. Its carcass has long since decayed to merely bones, and on a tree above its resting place someone has scrawled the symbol for a name, and a shape like a ripple in a still pool. Strangely, they have accompanied the marker with the symbol for a safe place. Bones. Bones are not on the list. He knows that because he's looking for a red feathered lynx, familiar cats, and a sturdy branch. He pauses, a grin splitting his mouth. "Cat, you're familiar!" he sings out, pleased, and -- without noticing his cheetah's new chew bone -- begins to lead Guide to the building site.

He was halfway to the building site when he turned to say something to his feline, only to find the cheetah was no longer there. He stopped, glanced around, and blinked. The sun had risen high by the time he found the silly cat, gnawing on a stolen bone, and when coaxing failed to garner its attention, well... Gently as he could, he took the cheetah's tail in his mouth and began to drag it awkwardly back to where all the construction was. Guide remained stubbornly biting on the deceased's bone.

You find an injured mouse. You can either retrieve it as a snack for Never Idle and his cranes (Success!) or you can rescue it. Alone now -- Guide had stayed with his bone -- the buck ambles. The list of needed items is dwindled and murky within his mind and he almost misses the tiny mouse. It is a pale thing, all gray and white, and even nestled on a low lying branch it is not safe. He doesn't think much, only carefully nuzzles his nose under its frail body until it is curled upon his muzzle and then trots offs. It isn't until later, much later, that he realizes a mouse could be a snack. The mouse however is in another kin's care. And it would be poor to go back and retrieve in order to use it as food. Oh well.

Oh no! Your digging has unearthed an incredibly angry stoat! Best to scram--and spend the rest of the day nursing your gnawed-on ankles. Try again tomorrow. He collapses, ankles sore and stinging relentlessly, after being thwarted by a stoat. The bustle of activity around him is distracting and he watches, tries to imprint the wants of Never Idle into his head. (The items rattle and shake, twist, and he'll need someone to go over it again tomorrow.)

A long-dead Grandfather tree towers over this section of the swamp. In investigating the hollows of its enormous trunk, you find a patch of luminescent fungi. If you attempt to take it, it is too bitter to hold in your mouth, and causes a strange prickling pain where it touches you. His head bowed deep into the hollows, the red buck find his eyes drifting closed and he sways forward. He ends up drowsing with his face inches from the glowing plant, forelegs crumpled and back legs stretched out. Eventually, he wakes from strange dreams and decides the fungi have some sort of sleeping power. And since he's not tired, he leaves them behind. Besides, he has the suspicion that Never Idle isn't impressed with his retrieved items thus far. (Which doesn't bother him but he finds himself tuning out whenever someone explains, "No, not that!" and by the time he does listen, they've finished reminding him of what they do want. Very unhelpful, really.)

You find a marvelously-intact shed snakeskin. It did not take long to find that a marvelously-intact shed snakeskin was a fragile mess. It crumbled like dead leaves and it was a very unsuccessful endeavor as he attempted to pick it up. He did find that it made an exquisite face decoration.

A beautiful red bird has met an unfortunate end here. Success! A moment of clarity strikes him as he takes in the red bird. Feathers splayed and eyes closed as it looks to await a wind from the sky. He takes up the corpse and settles it on his back. And then, he runs, dodging and weaving like a breeze to carry the bird to the building site.

You find a plant of absolutely intoxicating scent, surrounded by hummingbirds. It proves impossible to transport their nectar, but nothing's stopping you from sampling some while you're here. After a taste of the nectar which proves to be a sweet infused bitterness that purses his lips, he wishes he could drink the scent instead. He takes a long breath of it through his nose.

Some of the trees in the Swamp produce leaves as large as an animal hide. You find one now, but climbing up the roots and standing on your hindlegs to procure the perfect specimen is exhausting, and you're out of energy for the day. Try again tomorrow. Success! The precious leaf plucked and delivered, he wilts to the ground and falls straight to sleep.

You hear the sound of wings startled up when you enter this clearing, but there is no bird to be seen--only a strange shift in the light, as though a thin cloud had passed over the sun although the sky is clear. He doesn't think much or anything of it. In fact he merely continues on.

You stumble on a friend and get distracted talking (either invite someone in for a few posts, or use one of your other Kin or an NPC). He doesn't notice the exact moment Little Lies ambles up next to begins to regale him with her latest story -- misses her greeting and the slight exasperation at not being noticed -- until her hound bites at his ankles. He lowers his head, peering between his leg, to take in the mutt. "Hullo, Tail," he smiles and then lifts his head. "Little Lies," he greets. His daughter grins and launches into a story and he drifts off, mind wandering off and forgetting all about Never Idle.
