A smooth, sunbleached lynx skull lies in a clearing. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. As their favorite and most frightening Mare hadn't deigned to grace them with her presence, complacent Glossbones and River-Swollen were shocked out of their routine. He heard of Never Idle and with his mercantile eye, saw the value of earning a boon or recognition from a new legendary, especially a crafty one. And while the lynx skull was not on the least, it would surely belong among the Skull Collectors. Coaxing the delicate skull into his slipped on broadleaf, he continued onward.

The jellyfish are migrating: a beautiful, luminscent, floating cloud of jellyfish high in the sky above you distracts you momentarily from your task. As delightful and intriguing they were, they lacked skulls and were relegated to useless creatures of the swamp. Not even their billowy forms lasted long. Next!

You thought you found the perfect branch--but it snaps cleanly in two when you try to move it. Argh! Glossbones stumbled on a fallen beehive singed and still smoking. In that precise moment he stepped in too warm honey, broke his first prized ingredient and left behind sticky foot prints. Any kin could easily track him and steal his hard earned items. With his tapered end tail, Glossbones swept dust on his hooves to temporarily cease their stickiness and to wipe away his trail. Adequately satisfied, he ventured deeper into the muck and mire, intent on producing a mutually beneficial collection of items for both parties.

You locate an especially attractive white plume, of unknown source Honey is a bit more insidious and temperamental. Warmed by his body, it started oozing, and mixing with the put upon dirt until quite a ways later, he noticed an exquisite and surprisingly still whole white feather attached to his hoof. Wrong color, but his pragmatic mind chalked up the confiscation as a worthy skull decoration to dazzle the masses. One step in front of the other, he continued this old drill.

You hear Never Idle chiding you in a strangely metallic voice: "Work faster! Work faster!" But then you realize it's only a mocking-raven, who must have grown up near the stag's place of business. Well, wasn't this delightful. Glossbones was methodically failing at each juncture yet seemed to acquire new items each turn. That mouthy raven left a few feathers lighter and Glossbones was able to pad his satchel. Onward he marched.

You find a plant of absolutely intoxicating scent, surrounded by hummingbirds. It proves impossible to transport their nectar, but nothing's stopping you from sampling some while you're here. As his parcel was getting fatter, so was Glossbones. He chanced upon a deep bell flower full of delectable nectar of indeterminable origins. Although too runny of a liquid to transport back to River-Swollen or Never Idle, Glossbones gorged himself silly. Smiling a sloppy, glistening leer, he ventured forward.

You find an ideal log. Unfortunately, rolling it free of the bracken it's trapped in and getting it back to the construction site will require some assistance! One fail after the other, the odds weren't looking too favorable. He was too lean to have the muscles to roll it back to the clearing. River-Swollen was so far away, too.

He came upon Glossbones with a log and once more found himself settled behind the thick log's middle. "On three," he voice came, soft, calm. "One, two, three!" It was with great strength he butted his plated head against the log. And though it seemed at home here, the totoma's strength paired with even the leaner muscles of a kimeti would move it.

You find an injured mouse. You can either retrieve it as a snack for Never Idle and his cranes (Success!) or you can rescue it. If you rescue it, post a link in THIS THREAD to the post and a note that it's for the mouse, to be entered into a drawing for a mouse! Pink. He just saw a shock of pink and momentarily thought, with the hard scales and such, that one of Snailshell's line was here to help. A kindred soul he thought until he looked closer and saw the horns and unmistakeable build of totoma. To his knowledge, none had dipped into that pool but he could be mistaken. Still, he and his siblings, being the poor hunters that they were, existed on the kindness of others. And so when the totoma offered assistance, he was grateful and summoned the fading energy to thank the kind buck. "Come visit the Skull Collectors any day" he threw out above his shoulders to the fleeting form. Satisfied with at least one part of the task done, he turned around to nearly step on a critter. Whether he caused the injury or not, it mattered little because now Never Idle and his cronies had a neat little morsel to chew on.

You hear the sound of wings startled up when you enter this clearing, but there is no bird to be seen--only a strange shift in the light, as though a thin cloud had passed over the sun although the sky is clear. He thought he heard the Totoma agree but it was just the sound of reckless birds or the soft sigh of the swamp.

You traipse through a patch of leaves you've never seen before, and within minutes you are itchy to the knees. The itching will persist for three days, but for now on the first day it's too intense to allow focus and you feel the need for an immediate plunge into cool water. Try again tomorrow. Wow, this was a foal mistake. He fumbled into some noticeable leaves and left worse for the wear. He still had his head in the clouds at the possible source of the soft rustling and now he had red bumps. Cysts if his shoddy luck held. Better to head it off with a quick dunk in freezing waters. Glossbones' mood severely plummeted after the speedy, necessary resolution. He would need rest.

You secure a mouthful of long grass stems ideal for weaving. Success! And so it began, his fortuitous trek back to Never Idle to hopefully incur some favors. Merchants code and all that jazz. Pulling the properly long blades, he gave a perfunctory nod at the stag when he saw its diminutive form. No good deed goes unpunished.
