Opening your eyes is difficult. Everything feels fuzzy and unreal. There's a blurry haze at the edge of your vision, constantly reminding you that something is Not Quite Right. Music, loud and boisterous, is trumpeted from all sides. It's impossible to hear yourself think over all of the noise around you - and just when you think it couldn't get louder, explosion of color and sound dazzle the night sky above. There is no haven from the noise, save for your own two hands. But at least the fireworks are pretty. The town up ahead seems to be in an eternal state of partying. Crowds line the streets, running and jostling one another as they blow noise makers and toast one another repeatedly. You have no idea what they're celebrating, but you know you will stick out like a sore thumb unless you join them. Someone hands you a sparkler and a glass of bubbly drink - and you're swept into the crowd before you have any say in the matter. Your clothing has changed. Boils seem to be wearing red white and blue striped suits, and tall, ridiculous top hats. The women's fashion comes in many forms, but glittery champagne colored dresses are common, as well as outfits that match the men. It's time to make a decision about what you need to do, if only everyone could be quiet and let you think... But one thing is certain. You are no longer home. You are a denizen of Independence Town. The question is, why? The OOC You and your group are somehow transported into the world of Independence Town. What's worse, you seem to have been transformed yourself - you are a denizen of the world! You're wearing their clothes. Claws, tails, extra eyes, special powers and abilities - everything seems to be missing. The only things that are still you are your colors - hair, eyes, skin. Your job is to explore, without raising suspicion. Whether or not you remain safe during your time in Independence Town lies solely on how good you are at fooling the real denizens while still researching your surroundings. In every post you make, roll 1d10. This is your stealth roll. Continue to interact with your fellow researchers as you explore the world, but if you roll a 10, quote me (Nio Love) because you've attracted some trouble.Quote: SPECIAL EVENT: While none of you might look exactly familiar to each other, you've all spawned in the same spot, so you're pretty sure the five of you are Halloweeners. Still, one of you looks even less unfamiliar - a girl who wasn't in class. And - wait - if you watch her every so often, she seems to flicker, almost like a ghost. Is she sick? ((Mimsy's Independence Day form is nothing like the jabberwocky you saw in class. Still, you didn't see everyone in class, she could have just been someone else. Is she flickering a little? Perhaps it was something she ate..)) GROUP MEMBERS 1. Carlos (played by phantompanther13) 2. Petro (played by Huni Pi) 3. AJ (played by Meegane) 4. Mimsy/Sczes (played by Nothing yet) 5. Petro's eyes flew open in a panic, body instinctively falling into a defensive stance, the after-effects of fainting after consuming that candy had not been kind to him. He scanned his surroundings immediately, searching for any signs of hostility, but finding only merriment. Oh and noise. Loud and painful and coming in erratic bursts followed by brilliant displays of color and light.
The onslaught of noise was deafening, but at the same time, oddly familiar. The press of the bodies, the laughter, the cheer, it was like those big celebrations back with his clan. He managed, eventually, to regain his bearings enough to realize he wasn't in Halloween anymore.
And that he was dressed in "What 'm I wearing!?" he gaped down at the suit, particularly the pants and moved to remove them. Only he was being handed a stick on fire and a glass of liquid. What? Was he supposed to put it out? Resisting the urge to dunk the sparkler into the drink, because he noticed quickly enough that no one was making the same attempt, he scanned for familiar faces but could make out no tails or claws or any other signs of Halloweeners. Just these five humanoids standing rather near him as they were all swept away by the throng of bodies into Independence Town.
Oh Jack, maybe he should have gone for the turkey candy.

Carlos was dismayed. He woke up and his personal chariot was missing. where was the Jobberwocky? He looked around and spotted a few familur faces, Well sort of. Everything was turned on it's head and red white and blue. His pants turned into red and white stripes his collar grew and turned into a scarf that didn't quiet cover his mouth, and his coat was different. and he was wearing a hat. He liked hats. Carlos wore a strange grin on his face but his eyes held confusion and shock. where where... he tried to turn his ears about to listen to all the nose and found they refused to move. He tried to create an illusion but it never came, tried to float and found himself planted. He lifted his paws, originally aiming for his ears, and found they looked very strange. Fingers? Fingers? He flexed them and then let out a high pitched laugh. What was this. what was this? Someone shoved a sparkler into his new fingers. He tried to take a step forward but having never ever actually walked on two feet he fell on his face. Which only caused another peel of giggling. But where was his friends. He recognized the others almost, changed as he was, but he had been with Mimsy. Where was his chariot? " 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe." He looked around for the Jabberwock. The strange ghoul with him, he didn't even know. Carlos was so confused. Was this part of his nap?

W-what... what the Jack?
Was he Blightning again?, because he felt different. His hands looked right, the skin was the right color and still peppered with glowing lines and freckles all over, but his feet---whoa, they looked like human feet, how did anyone walk with these things without the balance in the back? Ignatius lifted up one uncertainly, as if he was trying to figure out what exactly to do with it--
And then the noise kicked up.
The noise.
Ignatius had been to noisy places before. As a particularly social person the event was probably inevitable, but the noise was a bit above anything he was used to and he winced a bit, but kept himself from reaching up to cover his ears. That wouldn't help. They seemed surrounded by people from Independence Town, he was starting to notice. Looking like he didn't fit in was the exact thing he didn't want to do...
That was when some sparkling drink and a noisemaker of sorts was shoved into his hands. He glanced down at them with a small amount of curiosity before his eyes lit up. Noisemakers! He loved these things!
Happily, he blew right into them as he looked up at the sky. And even if they were noisy, the fireworks were rather pretty. This was probably the best show he had ever seen--and this happened daily here? That seemed to be the case. Wait, did he feel something slipping from his head--
Ignatius angled his head back to normal so he didn't lose the ridiculously galloned hat that was sitting itself on his head.
As he looked around, he saw someone who looked particularly out-of-sorts (Petro) and side-hissed a, "Act normal!"
Whatever acting normal was here.

Failing to take down the homework assignment had not killed Mimsy, as it turned out. It had taken her somewhere almost as horrible as death, however, filled with racket and music and so, so many people. She raised her hands to cover her ears, caught a glimpse of pale skin rather than the teal tint of the golem, and paused. Slowly, after one deep breath, she looked down. Braids, tipped with red dye, over a red sequined dress, over an unarguably humanoid (albeit lanky) body. Something had gone wrong. Something made her look like herself. "Oh," she squeaked, as a reveler pressed a sparkler and flute of champagne into her hands. Though she certainly should have been concerned that her cover was blown, or that something horrible was happening to either of her physical forms, she was too intrigued to worry. She tried to take in this new atmosphere piece by piece, but the boisterous crowd made that too difficult to achieve. In the meantime, she thought, it couldn't hurt to seek out her classmates. "Caaarlooos," she called in singsong, voice barely raising above the noise. "Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here to find yooou?" The dress was not too troublesome, but the sparkling stiletto heels on her feet were definitely a problem. She teetered around in them for a few steps, before finally giving up and tipping the glass up to drink some champagne. It wouldn't help, but why not, really. She had all but given up on finding Carlos here - if he was even here at all - when familiar words caught her attention. Narrowing her eyes, she looked through the crowd in an attempt to find the source. None of them seemed to be reciting the poem, but she was sure that she heard it. She was so certain, in fact, that she focused so hard on finding him that she dropped the sparkler that had been handed to her. When she bent to pick it up, she couldn't find it anywhere; there was, however, someone lying on the ground. That would explain why none of the passing partygoers were speaking the Jabberwocky. " Beware the Jabberwock, my son." She leaned towards him, fingers curled into 'claws', a wide grin spreading across her face. "Unless, by chance, you call yourself a cat?"

Now that they weren't being tussled every which way, Petro took the relative stillness (and he uses the term very loosely) to get a better look at himself. His face showed his distaste for his apparel, the jacket and shirt underneath were fine, they hid his multitude of scars, but the pants. The pants and the shoes. Tossing the sparkler, Petro used his newly freed hand to try and pull his shoes off. His feet and toes were begging to be freed when he heard someone hiss a command at him.
He turned towards the direction, his countenance grim, brown eyes hard, "What do y' mean normal? 'M normal!" he said, a little forcefully to the boil

Carlos heard something a response. "Sczcys." his head popped up and he wore a grin that didn't quiet reach his eyes. It certainly didn't have all the teeth it used too either. "A cat is only a cat when you know where it's at." he lifted his paws, sparkler still twisted in his hand. He sat up moving to all fours. This would.... what were those? It was on his foot. It was on his foot! He tried to lift and shake it off. "It's on my foot!" he said at last. It was a complaint. He tried to kick it off before finally turning around and biting the thing. It was horrible. And tasted nasty and nope... it didn't remove itself. Everyone else seemed to have the horrible attachments too. oh wow sparkles... Carlos might have been a bit overwehlmed with all the people and all the things. Especially as Mimsy was now female... yet it seemed right. he would make her a riddle. This was better. It had to be Mimsy. she was the jabberwock. He sat up an clung to her. "Carry me." it was the best solution to all the confusion. He would be carried and just watch. Yes. All the while he wore his grin.

The confirmation came as a relief, and Mimsy giggled pleasantly, reaching to poke Carlos on the nose with a decidedly clawless finger. He looked about as pleased to be here as she did, which made perfect sense to her, as most things to do with Wonderland tended to.
"Mimsy to you, remember?" she corrected, smiling down at him. "What an odd place this is. Dreadfully savage, isn't it?"
She feigned a pout and lifted him off of the ground, abandoning her glass to wrap her thin arms around him once more. It was easier to hold him now, without claws or wings or painfully pointy pieces; she settled him on her hip, carefully supporting him as she tried to remain upright in four inch heels without falling over.

"What's this place? So boisterous...What do you think Bro?" The boil holding a sparkler and a drink asked, wondering why the Head had been so quiet. "Bro?" He called again, but only to find it was missing and he was like a normal human boy. This wasn't the first time for the serpent dragon to experience this, instead, the specially design pin they wore did the trick. The boil sighed and looked at himself, status effect of the candy? A year in Amityville had he learned that food in Amityville, besides caferteria, is not safe, usually come with status effect, aka it does something fun to you. So he wasn't surprised, but felt a bit empty without the Head. He too a sip at the drink and stared at the sparkler, he never see something like that before, so shiny and beautiful. The drink was like their exploding flavour he tried in Prom. Like a curious kid, he spun it in circle. AJ was quite sure that he wasn't the only one who ate the pop rocks, so he pretended to be as cheerful as the others, while searching for the others. The Cheshire Cat was an eye-catching target because of his funny behaviour. Trying his best not to laugh out, the mad hatter, nope, he just got a top hat, he approached the kitty boil, carried by a beautiful girl that he didn't know before. "Hey~ Glad to see you here, Carlos! Luckily we were not separated in a new place like this." He beamed, while looking at Mimsy who was in a stunning red dress. She looks gorgeous. "Oh beautiful lady, late introduction, I am AJ, friend of Carlos. May I know your name as well as your species, Miss?" He took the hat off and made a gentleman bow. Nothing Yet AJ loves Red, can't resist a beauty dressing in red

Carlos scrunched up his nose at the poke but let it happen. He really didn't mind. He did try to lick it afterwards, but his tongue didn't reach. But he got what he ultimately wanted and that distracted him. " All mimsy were the borogoves," he whispered into her ear giggling over their secret. Though she was female. Or was she male? Or was she a shape changer? He didn't know. He simply clung allowing his weight to become one with hers. He was a bit heavier now, but he didn't fidget and used those hands things to cling on. "Here there, anywhere, this tree or that, it doesn' t matter to a cat. A nap is a nap." Though he said nap his eyes followed everyone else just staring at all the things. His ears didn't work right so he turned his whole head to the next interesting sound and turned again eyes burly following a light or firework or person. Nio Love apparently settling down is attracting attention. *flips table*

"Nap???" An elderly woman, wearing a dress so short it was uncomfortable for someone of that age, started to dance up against both Mimsy and Carlos. "What the flying fire is a nap?? Can you party with it? Oh oh is it a drink? I want one!!" She started hooting repeatedly as she danced against them. phantompanther13 Just a heads up, keep rolling d10 even though youve caught the attention of an NPC already~

With a quirked brow at the remark of being normal, Ignatius pointed out the sparkler that the other had haphazardly tossed in his attempts to apparently strip himself of some clothing.
He didn't say anything about it, though. Not that anyone could really hear anything with all the noise.
Of course, that also meant he could remark on the other boil's urge to strip. "Look, I know we're in a party and a lot of people might holler if you keep trying to pull things off, but do you really want to draw that kind of attention?"
Especially considering he managed to side-eye another of their group attracting a woman that was far too old to be wearing those clothes. Yeuch.

So he did remember! Mimsy laughed along with the cat over their secret, and gave him a knowing smile when the laughter subsided. This was still a very fun game that she hoped to continue, but when she opened her mouth to quote another poem, the two of them were greeted by someone who knew Carlos. They called her beautiful, which was certainly surprising. She gladly accepted the compliment nonetheless. "Thank you, kind sir!" She bowed her head to greet him, barely stifling a giggle over his display of a bow. "We have briefly met, prior to this - I am Sczes, the Jabberwock. May our adventures always be this grand!" Well, hopefully not. Thankfully, this particular Jabberwock would not be having any more adventures with anyone, even if Mimsy did return. She had hardly finished her re-introduction when someone else approached them, which she discovered by feeling rather than hearing them. The woman must have been an actual denizen of Independence, and she firmly solidified the fact that Independence was an awful place. Having no ability to dance, especially carrying a small teenager, Mimsy just stood there and rocked awkwardly back and forth. The woman was terribly close to her, and the rubbing was so unsettling, and she felt certain that she was not supposed to be doing this if she intended to remain married. "Naps are being distributed over there," she managed to say, nodding her head in a random direction (which was, most importantly, away from them). "Move hastily, before they run out! What if you had no chance to try one?! Oh no!" As cool as she was attempting to be at the moment, the look in Mimsy's eyes screamed 'help'. She at least managed to turn herself away from the woman to prevent her from dancing onto the boil she carried, taking the full force of the elderly lady's gusto in an attempt to maintain Carlos' innocence, if any remained by now.
