June 15th, March 1473 - Bulgaria
Gabriel Dimitrova II, was born June 15th,ll in Bulgaria only a few days after Katerina Petrova. Due to the family's close ties to one another, some women in the Petrova family helped to deliver Gabriel. Sadly, his mother, Desislava, grew extremely sick after successfully giving birth to her second son. Not knowing what was causing her the grief and ailment she suffered, the women of the Petrova family asked to be alone with Desislava, while her husband Nikola tended to the newborn. The Petrovas, being of a witch line, attempted to use their magic to save her, but she constantly prayed for death's release, so in respect of her wishes, the Petrova women granted her death's sweet release. The news hit her husband hard, but after hearing that his wife's last words to him were to raise their child in the way that he should grow, Nikolai swore to himself that he would let no harm befall his child.
1473-1498 - Bulgaria & England
Together, both the Petrova and Dimitrova Families would raise Katerina and Gabriel together in order to ease the amount of work that would arise. For the most part, everything went along smoothly, but having spent so much time with the Petrova Family, Katerina's mother charged Gabriel with protecting her daughter from anything that could harm however. However, in doing so, he would have to try and restrict Katerina, a girl he knew would know even listen to him trying to stop her. Time passed and eventually, something unspeakable happened. Katerina was pregnant. Not only was she pregnant, but he did not know who had done it either. At first, he had thought of lying to Katerina's mother, but there would be no avoiding it. When the pregnancy term was over, he waited outside the room before being startled as her father ran out with the newborn baby. The sixteen year Gabriel thought of taking the baby back from him, but if he were to do that, then his family's relationship with the Petrovas' would have come to an abrupt end. Powerless, he watched as she was banished to England, but even through all of that, he was once again approached by her mother. This time, she asked if he would quietly accompany her to England and keep an eye on her daughter.
Not wanting to see a childhood friend of his disappear forever, he agreed, and left under the pretense of finding work in England due to having been approached by a wealthy male. His reason for leaving also had to do with the strong attraction he felt for the Petrova daughter. Within England Gabriel began to struggle with adjusting to the new language, and the new way of life. The adjusting was rough, but in adjusting slowly, he continued to keep an ever watchful eye over Katerina. But, the world has never been a kind place, and due to the efficient work he was doing those who were from England and could not do as well as him began to spite Gabriel. This spiting began to worsen when he was given menial jobs and was seen as inferior by both friend and former superior(s). The mental attacks continued, until he was beaten on, and in a fit of rage, he retaliated. Fights would insinuate between Gabriel and those who came after him, and in one of the fights, weapons were brought as well. Not ready to fight against weapons, he did his best to stay alive, but was ultimately beaten near death. As he bled out a male who worked directly underneath Niklaus came to his aid, and while he could not understand why he was feeding him his blood to him, but he didn't have the strength to resist. So, his eyes closed finally.
When he finally awoke he was within an elegant room in nothing but a shirt and underwear. On his chest asleep was a beautiful young woman, and upon closer inspection, she was tied to the bed frame itself. The male that stood before him was the same one that had apparently saved him, but he was almost certain that he should have died. But, before he could think about anything else he had looked down at her and had gotten extremely hungry. With little to no warning, he had wrapped his arms around her body before biting into the girl. He could feel her squirming, but it didn't matter for as he continued drinking her blood, the satisfaction from it prevented him from stopping. Since his transformation he was put under the care of the man who saved him. He was told that his life existence as a vampire would be tied to the life of Lord Niklaus because he was the sire of his vampire blood.
Training to develop and maintain control over his vampiric urges soon followed and after a while was soon left by himself because the male was not supposed to turn any humans into vampires. Gabriel continued his watch over Katerina, and was shocked to find out that she too had become a vampire and had run away from England. Not only that, but she was a also a Petrova Doppleganger needed by Klaus. Before the massacre that befell the Petrova Family, he reported back to Katerina's mother in order to tell her that her daughter was doing well, and that she had nothing to worry about. But, to hear that the family had been murdered by a male who he had seen as a role model, he knew that he would have to try and save Katerina from Niklaus, but, his employment would not end any time soon.
1498-1864 - Italy
Towards the end of 1498, new work began for Gabriel. Having left the employment of Klaus, he began his research on what exactly a Doppleganger was. When he could not find adequate answers he turned to the mystic arts in order to help in his quest for knowledge. His quest brought him to Udine, Italy. There, he met and fell in love with a witch by the name of Claudia. She explained to him that Dooplegangers were created due to a need to restore balance and, that their existence was something the universe was still trying to correct. While continuing to learn more from Claudia, he also began to fall more and more in love. That is to say, until an unexpected visitor arrived at Claudia's house. A male whom he had long since thought was dead had arrived on her doorstep. His elder brother Simeon had arrived. While initially horrified by how he stood before him, he soon came to realize that he too was a vampire. Not wishing to connect with a sibling whom he had never seen before in his life, he continued to live his life with Claudia. Needless to say, his brother would not be ignored.
Having left from his new job as a baker, he opened Claudia's door only to find her with a large piece of her kitchen table jammed directly through her chest. Running to her side immediately, he pulled the table piece from her chest only to have her continue to cough up blood in front of him. When he attempted to give her his blood, his brother snapped his neck, leaving Claudia to die. When he awoke, he was laying directly besides her now cold, dead body, and when he reached over to touch her, his elder brother took his hand instead and helped him to his feet. Upon realizing what had happened, he immediately tried to break away from his brother's hold, but a match was lit and tossed into the house itself before Gabriel was dragged out of it. When the house went up in flames, Gabriel merely watched as the house began to burn before being led away by Simeon. In a moment of weakness, his elder brother wrapped his arms around him before repeatedly telling Gabriel that if he wanted it all to end, the pain and suffering, then all he needed to do was let it go. For the first few minutes of him grieving, he refused to do so, but when the feelings became to much to handle, he simply cried on his brother's shoulder before the crying stopped altogether. He had shut his emotions off and was now, was being starved by his sibling. This starvation continued for years before the two siblings began moving throughout Italy with his brother until they reached the country side. There, in the countryside lived a family who had been sending spies into England in order to spy on both Klaus and Elijah. By time night had fallen, he was set free onto the family's estate, and alongside the his brother a feast on humans began.
While the family tried their best to fight against, they were not able to match up against the two vampires. Together, the two ravaged all of the countryside, moving from family to family simply delighting in the fearful looks the humans continued to give before they were slaughtered. The family members that managed to survive, could only give descriptions of the two males that they remember seeing, and in time a name was put out to describe the two males. The Twin Demons. Stated to be twin demons from Hell that finally came to do away with those that had sinned, those within Italy began to take precautions in order to try and protect themselves from the vampires. It was not until 1869, that the Twin Demons were finally stopped. As they continued draining the blood of the families living on the countryside, the two came upon what seemed to be an abandoned house, and sitting inside waiting for them was someone Gabriel had long since thought to be dead. Claudia. She had been force-fed Simeon's blood moments before being impaled through the chest, and had managed to escape the fire before being reborn as a vampire. Before she could try and turn his humanity back on, Simeon impaled her once through the chest again. Seeing the love he had though had died in front of him in pain once again, his emotions immediately came flipped back on, and when they did tears fell from his eyes. However, none of them would prevent him from attacking his sibling, and after a little while, he finally managed to impale his brother through the heart.
While his brother began to bleed out, all he could do was watch quietly before moving over to help Claudia, who had instead began to cast a spell that soon set the house a blaze. Kissing her deeply, he could feel her telekinesis pushing him out of the house, and once he was out of the house, the entire building went up in flames. This time, he stayed until the entire building had been burnt down, and when the villagers found him, all he could say was that the Twin Demons had been burned alive within, and would no longer bother their town. Having nothing left for him in Italy, he began to travel once more, and decided that he would rather chase after Katerina, then fall in love just to have that love ripped away from him.
1869-1925 - Mystic Falls, Bulgaria, & Mystic Falls
In 1869, five years after Katerina arrived in Mystic Falls, Gabriel arrived in the town, and like her, managed to make his way into one of the Founding Families. When he discovered that she was not in the town, but had been at one point, he left to Bulgaria, where he thought she would have gone. Sadly, such a search brought no luck. Time continued to pass, and as it did, he moved from watching Katerina, or Katherine as she had chosen to be called to watching Stefan Salvatore. In a way, he had seen the male as a younger version of himself. After learning of the events around Fell's Church, he had prepared to go and murder the Salvatore's father himself, but it had already been taken care of.
When Stefan had begun to transition into that of a ripper, a closer watch was kept over him, and upon his going off to fight the war, Gabriel instead remained in Mystic Falls. But, periodically, he would leave and return to Bulgaria in order to see what became of his family and to learn whether or not his family name had continued on. Back in Bulgaria, he found his inheritance in the hands of a decrepit old woman. She kept stating that she knew what had become of him when he never returned, and had sworn to live until she could deliver that which was rightfully his. Alongside the envelope was a large book, which, looked very similar to the at of a grimoire.Taking the money enclosed in the envelope enclosed within the envelope, he quickly caught the old woman and asked her whether or not she wanted to live. Biting his arm, he allowed the blood to drip to the ground, but before he could give it to the old woman she merely put her hand on his arm in order to push it away. He could feel her frail arms try to wrap around his, and with and after wrapping her arms around her in a hug, she revealed that she was one of the last living members of the Dimitrova line, and was ecstatic to finally meet her ancestor. Directions were given so that he could find his remaining family members. With a smile, the old woman died with a smile in his arms, and after burring her on what was left of the Dimitrova Estate. With the list and his inheritance in hand, he set off to find his remaining family members.
Locating his family members brought him back to Mystic Falls, and to the doorstep of a young man who seemed to be about his age before he was turned into a vampire. The boy, Michael, had been diagnosed with lukemia, but unwilling to watch the boy die so young, he visited his hospital room when his family left in order to introduce himself. At first, the male was skeptical, but after showing him just how he could save him, the boy became thrilled by the mere sight of Gabriel everyday. Stories were told of the Dimitrova family and how they were long-time friends with the Petrova Family, another influential family in Bulgaria. Tales of his own childhood came next along with those of the various years he had been alive. After cutting his arm once more, he allowed his blood to fill an empty water bottle. The boy drank it, and could feel himself getting better slowly, and with a smile, Gabriel left to find his other family members give the boy his space. When he was released from the hospital on what the doctors continued to call a miracle, he was quick to find the sixteen year old again, and after introducing himself to Michael's family as a distant relative, he was allowed to spend more time with the boy.
Their relationship became that of a strong sibling relationship, and as Michael continued to grow older, he frequently asked Gabriel whether or not he would turn him into a vampire. But, he did not wish to curse anyone to an immortal life, not even one as close to him as Michael. But, he did promise to watch over Michael's children when the time came, and protect them when life-threatening dangers came their way. For the remainder of his time, he bought a large house for him to live in as he watched over his family tree, with his living expenses being covered by his inheritance and any jobs he chose to work. But, he generally remained within the house so that as years passed none would be able to figure out or question why he didn't age.
1970 - Mystic Falls
1970 brought no joy to Gabriel due to having completely lost Katherine, but his loss of her had brought him to a name by the name of Will. He held information and fake ids for a price. After going out and retrieving priceless jewels for Will, he was given information of Katherine during her time in Mystic Falls, but once she had left, the information stopped. However, in time, Stefan Salvatore returned to Mystic Falls, and with his return, he only assumed that Katherine would soon follow behind him due to the relationship he learned of between the two.
1990-Present - Mystic Falls
Returning to social life that was Mystic Falls, he witnessed the emergence of yet another doppelganger. This one by the name of Elena. She was the spitting image of Katerina, and on several occasions, he wanted to call out to her, but knew that if he had, she would not have known him. Strangely, just like with Katerina, Stefan had gravitated towards Elena. There were notable differences between the two girls that he picked up on with only a few glances at the new doppelganger. For one, their hairstyles were different, but their body language was the main thing that helped him refer to them as separate people. Katerina, when she was around, held an air of importance to her. It was a presence that showed she was a dignified woman with no qualms about doing what was required in order to preserve her only life. Elena on the other hand seemed like a much kinder girl, and while Katerina could be kind at times, Elena's kindness seemed like the genuine kind that never left despite what could happen. Even still, he could not help but feel attracted to her in the same way he was attracted to Katerina. But, just like with Katerina, a Salvatore had gotten between the two of them. For this, he took a step back yet again, and was convinced that the universe was merely against he and a Petrova being together. However, he did come to see that his role may have been to watch over the Petrova's, and act only when things truly took a turn for the worse.
Strangely enough, thing to a weird turn, and the elder Salvatore brother ended up with Elena. That he did not like. If a Salvatore was to have her, then he would have preferred that the younger, stable one be that Salvatore. Eventually, his watchful eye over the Petrova doppelganger took a turn for the worst when she died. Fortunately, she was soon alive again, and adjusting to her new vampire abilitieis. From then on, a long series of events occurred, each with its own ups and down, but as of late, he's finally decided that the times for observation has ended. It is now time for him to act.
