You find a marvelously-intact shed snakeskin.

Ascent felt she owed the Swamp Kin for the aid she herself had received before; it was of no incident for her to learn the ways of the Swamp and lend the distracted male her aid. Never Idle had seemed to be flighty and well tended to his name, and with a faintly amused smile at his distracted instructions, she set off to work.

Picking around the thick and gnarled roots of a particularly old marsh tree, she found the most beautifully intact snakeskin draped over one of the curved lengths of wood. Ascent had to give pause and catch her breath, knowing very well her mate would love such a thing. With all the gentleness she possessed, she made sure to remove the skin from its display and carry it gingerly between her teeth. She couldn't just hide it...she'd have to find her beloved it share it with him right away! Turning on hoof, she trotted to where she knew he'd be, proudly toting her prize.

You stumble on a friend and get distracted talking (either invite someone in for a few posts, or use one of your other Kin or an NPC).

Trotting through the thick underbrush and low-hanging foliage, Ascent wasn't exactly graceful but she was picking her way as carefully as she could through the yet unfamiliar territory. She easily picked out the sight of her mate and, brightening, she approached him from the side, laying out her trophy on a dry stretch of rock. "I know I said I'd be gone longer," she started, almost by way of apology, "but I had to bring this to you. Isn't it beautiful?"

He raised his head slowly, usually dark eyes visibly brightening whenever he saw his mate. Descent watched her curiously, eying the gift she had presented to him.

The dark acha smiled sweetly at her. "Seeing you sooner is a gift enough. -- But this is beautiful." he bowed her head at her and slowly lifted himself up to move closer to her, nosing at this artifact. "My love, it is I who should be showering you with gifts," he said, a little amused. "Nevertheless, it is a wonderful gift. Thank you."

The smile on his stitched face earned one from her in return, throwing back her thick mane and nosing him lightly in return. "You can make it up to me," she teased softly, rubbing her jaw against his. "You know I've business to attend but after...you can take me to my favorite bathing oasis~" She was only partially teasing...well, it was more like not teasing at all, but she kept her tone light and in the idea of teasing. Ascent would possibly voice the truth of it, but she knew the Acha was a smart male. He'd figure out what she wanted and how best to make her happy. Mm, indeed, the idea of his attentions was a rather fine distraction from her task at hand...

"I know you have matters to grace with your presence.. The land you step on is even fortunate for every step you take." He lidded his eyes, a gentle smile on that stitched mouth of his, a look of sweetness only Ascent can see. "Of course I shall make it up to you, many times, I will take you there with a few surprises on the way." Of course Descent was very much in tune with his mate, knowing just the things to make her smile over and over again. "Thank you again my sweet. Yet do not let me make you sway from your goal -- for now." He nosed her bright coloured cheek before he retreated subtly.

There was a moment that was far from brief that Ascent entertained the notion of stealing away with her mate for a quick show of affection. His gentle words and retreat made her put her mind back to her task with some reluctance, but he knew her well enough to push her onwards. "Very well, my love. I will not disappoint you." Stealing another press of noses, she turned with a pleased flick of her tail and disappeared back into the heavy green of the Swamp.

The jellyfish are migrating: a beautiful, luminscent, floating cloud of jellyfish high in the sky above you distracts you momentarily from your task.

It had taken some time for her to traverse the Swamp again, not used to having the sky obscured from her view for so long. Reaching a clearing, she paused to breathe in the different scent of air, bright eyes watching the way the sun dappled the water and moved like fast clouds...

Wait. It was moving?

Ascent lifted her head and was utterly breathless. The Kiokote had never seen jellyfish, let alone the luminescent creatures in migration; the way they lit the sky with their ethereal colors and cast their rainbow spectrum over the marsh with the filtered light was unlike anything she'd ever experienced in all her days. Bewitched, Ascent slowly sat down on a mostly dry knoll in the midst of the clearing and kept her head tilted back, watching the migration until it was out of her sight.

A four-leafed clover probably isn't any use to Never Idle, but hey, maybe finding it will bring you good luck!

She hadn't gotten far when the slice of sun fell upon an unusual sight indeed: amidst the foliage in the clearing was a rather perfect four-leaf clover! Even Ascent knew of the 'good luck' properties it supposedly possessed, and with a quaint smile, she plucked it from where it was found and, with a bit of maneuvering against some flaky bark, she managed to tuck the charm in her mane next to her ear.

You traipse through a patch of leaves you've never seen before, and within minutes you are itchy to the knees. The itching will persist for three days, but for now on the first day it's too intense to allow focus and you feel the need for an immediate plunge into cool water. Try again tomorrow.

Being a Kiokote, she was not familiar with the Swamp and Her ways. Ascent hadn't even noticed what she'd meandered through, but shortly after the sun had begun to dip beyond the line of trees, she began to feel unusually heavy and encumbered by a flush feeling on her legs. Quickly, it escalated into the most maddening itch: not only did it ache for being scratched, but once she obliged the need, it made the itch even worse! She had no idea if she was bitten or walked through something or perhaps ate something she was allergic to, but she had little time to think of it as the discomfort became border-lined on pain, forcing her to seek refuge in one of the wet stretched of the Swamp.

Tucking her legs under her body and laying in the shallow pool of water in the shade, Ascent sighed with minimal relief and resolved that she was not moving until she could breathe without the itch making her mad with distraction. Bowing her head, she apologized inwardly to the Swamp for not being more mindful, and suffered her consequence.

A beautiful red bird has met an unfortunate end here. Success!

Ascent's first foray into the new day was met with success: there, unmistakable upon the desaturated green of the Swamp, backlit by the morning light, was the most vibrant red bird. The Kiokote was pleased she would not have to try and hunt for this item on the list, taking only what was needed from the fallen avian and moving on.

A pile of iridescent beetleshells, collected by some bowerbird, glistens in the underbrush.

They were beautiful. They'd caught her eye immediately when the sun's dappled light had glinted off the rainbow shells, drawing her across the Swamp to where they were safely tucked away. Beetleshells. Ascent mulled over the possibility of fashioning them into jewelry, using them as an offering should she need another Blessing, or perhaps just to have for her own satisfaction. The Kiokote talked herself out of the notion, however, as making the treasures of another as her own fortune seemed ill advised; she'd already taken once from the Swamp yesterday. She moved on.

You find a plant of absolutely intoxicating scent, surrounded by hummingbirds. It proves impossible to transport their nectar, but nothing's stopping you from sampling some while you're here.

It was difficult for her to determine which was more bewitching: the scent of the sweet nectar that filled her lungs or the bejeweled hummingbirds that flit around the plant. Ascent could not resist the allure of such a sweet scent, picking her way closer with mind and trying not to disturb the flighty birds. The Kiokote had little desire to taste, oh no -- instead, she rubbed each cheek over a single stalk, ghosting her fur over it, gathering just the faintest memory of the scent.

Withdrawing, she could smell the delicious aroma at a less tantalizing intensity, just enough to make her chest swell with adoration of the scent. Content, she left the beautiful birds to their business and moved further south.

You had every intention of bringing this perfect fallen fruit back to Never Idle, but temptation won out, and you ate it yourself. Way to go.

There will be other fruits, Ascent reasoned to herself as she lapped the last bit of juice dribbling down her chin. It was decadent, every bit as delicious as she'd thought it would be. Even the perfume from the plants with the hummingbirds had not been able to mask the ripe scent of the fruit. Besides, she'd not eaten since she'd started her task. Never Idle might forget to eat, but she was not inclined to follow his lead. There will be another, she repeated to herself inwardly, trotting off with a fuller belly.

More beetles? Ascent felt only a touch of amusement. The Swamp was clearly testing her resolve!

Just because she'd partaken in the fallen fruit didn't mean she'd take anything else.

Not yet, anyway.

You find something tasty for Never Idle or one of his cranes. Success!

Good karma was on her side! Ascent was intensely pleased to discover a stem of perfect fruits, smaller than the one she had consumed, plentiful on a fallen branch. The bottom-most were bruised, but it was a small price to pay for fulfilling one of the items on the list. The Kiokote tucked the branch in her mouth, proudly returning to the build site and laying her offering down at the food pile. With a flick her her tail, she immediately returned to her search.

Another four-leafed clover! Ascent would have thought it auspicious if the last time hadn't been marred by that terrible itch (that yet still plagued her, if she didn't distract herself sufficiently). Leaving a little luck to another who may need it, the Kiokote continued on her search.
