Wow, that was fortunate. Dropping the cell phone back into her pants pocket Cami stretched out on her back in the middle of the training grounds. This was probably one of the warmer places on the island, nothing to cast shade on the vast stretch of grounds where they were supposed to be practicing their weapon skills. As a Sun Hunter it was important that Cami be proficient with her bow. Yet after her spar with Hanna the redhead was feeling rather accomplished. Accomplished enough to challenge yet another veritable stranger over Twitter. Peyton had spoken at the little gathering Bix had put together for the newbies, offering herself up for any and all sparring. Well, she was here. Kidana was here. Kidana was bitching about how Camille didn't try hard enough to get better. Apparently if she couldn't make a killing shot more often than not, she needed work. And she hadn't even been awake a week! So here she was, camped out in the middle of the training grounds, and waiting for her new challenger to arrive.

Peyton had, for the most part, been lazing about in Noah's room poking the bear on twitter and doing all in her power to pretend nothing was wrong. It had actually been working, she'd giggled, she'd laughed, and she'd been struck by that same old excitement that always hit when the prospect of a spar was dangled in front of her. Things were beginning to look up again, finally. She was smiling more often than not, the numbness had faded. Things were going to be alright. Leaving her jacket in her room, Peyton made her way out of the dorms and headed straight for the training field and the trainee that was lounging on the grass. It was warm, and the daintier of the two had dressed appropriately in jogging shorts and a bright tanktop. Water melon colored socks rod her calves, and disappeared into worn leather boots. On her own, ombre hair pulled back in a high ponytail, she looked delicate, harmless even, until you got to pale eyes and the confident smile that rested on glossed lips. "Are you Cami?"

In the distance, just off the side of the field, America could be seen setting up a lawn chair. A cooler sat nearby, likely holding cold drinks and snacks. In a tank, short cutoffs, sunglasses, and a ballcap, the girl was clearly ready for what she felt was a sporting event.

Looking up at the pretty and petite woman she recognized from what was pretty much the only orientation they were going to get, Cami grinned. She had almost a whole foot on Peyton and, since she was stupid and inexperienced, though this was going to make things easy. Kidana wondered if maybe she shouldn't disabuse her charge of that notion immediately but, considering that this was a good time to learn this lesson, said nothing. Let Camille get her tush handed to her. Humility was a good thing to have...since neither of them really had it. Sitting up and dusting off the back of her braid the historian grinned. "That's me. I recognize you from the thing Bix did." Clambering to her feet the movement was a little stiffer, a little more awkward than usual. Yes, she was hamming it up. No, she didn't think it was stupid. Holding a hand up to her forehead she spotted the two spectators and laughed. "I guess we're the entertainment?" < Not plural. Singular. YOU are the show. > Oh. Great.

The dainty Sun rocked back on her heels, as her hands came to land on her hips, grinning as the other girl got back to her feet. "Oh yeah, I remember. I mean, hard to miss that hair," she poked a finger towards the colorful braid. "Nice to meetcha." And it was, even if they were about to knock each other senseless. That was just fun.Blinking, Pey glanced back and over her shoulder towards the two that had parked at the edge of the field, and she lifted a hand to wave. "Aw hey, Moon-wife! Ro! You ready for this?" She couldn't guarantee she'd win, s**t happened and luck swung both ways, but she could at the very least give her friends a good show. Turning back, shifted her feet a little apart, centering her weight, and let her arms fall to the side before curling fingers closed around the metal rings that made up Warrick's handles. A pair of wicked looking, spike studded knuckledusters with curved blades extending out past the backs of her hands. A thin chain wound around the left, over her hand and around her wrist. A small lock dangled from a pair of links. Peculiar looking, perhaps, but Peyton had grown used to it by now. "Are you ready?"

A low whistle of appreciation hung in the air between the two Hunters as blue eyes took in the sharp curves of Peyton's weapon. What was it with her getting into fights with bladed Hunters? There had to be someone out there who was just as ranged as she was, right? At least this wasn't her first dance around the training fields -- wrestling with Hanna had given her a few pointers if nothing else. Camille knew that this ombre-haired Hunter wasn't going to be like battling a pod-rusty one but she might get lucky. Peyton's legs, after all, were not very long. Stepping into her own stance of wariness she pulled out of air the wicked-edged longbow that was her companion. Kidana was always happy to go into battle, telling herself and Cami that they were going to bring to justice the guilty and return righteousness to the world. Ki, it seemed, had been a bit of a LARPer. Or a dramatist. Or maybe revenants were all just like that? Taking a deep breath she took a stance, fingers lining up to draw the arrow she'd nocked at a moment's notice. Reflexes were important when you were in close-quarters with a bow. She had to be careful not to lose the arrow or let it fly too soon. "Ready as I'll ever be."beejoux Lmao what happens when we roll the same?? I'm happy to let Pey have initiative.

"Well alright then," she crooned, grinning. "Here we go." And that was the only warning Cami would get. There was no hesitation, no preamble. Peyton enjoyed fighting, the competition of it, the physicality. She'd always been good at it, despite her small size, and over time, when it had become obvious that she was always going to have to defend her sister, she began to like butting heads an busting lips. It was exciting, not to mention a great means of relieving tension. Still smiling, the petite Sun fell into a quick sprint, closing that short distance in seconds before ducking down and to the side. Coming around on the left drag the curve a blade along the outside of Cami's thigh. Warrick sighed, drinking in the Fear. Her rumbled his approval in Peyton's head, eagerness rising to match her own. s**t! An expletive clearly not in English dropped from the archer as she tried to get away from Peyton's initial strike but she was too slow. How could little legs be so damned fast?! The burn of the slice spread through her thigh, sending her down onto her knee until the pain started to subside. It wasn't a serious enough injury that the magenta-haired woman couldn't turn, firing off an arrow blank into the nearest part of Peyton she could see: her back. Kidana didn't approve of shooting things in the back because it was against her nature -- it was unjust. Yet, thankfully, she approved more of keeping her very squishy partner alive. Her tone said there would be a lecture later about spatial awareness and how dishonorable shots ought to be a last resort. Ugh. HP: 32/40 DMG: 5 CHG: 1/3

The arrow erupted against her back, and Peyton pulled in a breath with a hiss, wincing at the sting. Point blank, it hurt, but Warrick was there to make it nothing but superficial pain. Like a paintball blast, it stung, but it wasn't ultimately harmful. As the pain subsided she turned a smile over her shoulder at the kneeling trainee. "Shooting people in the back?" Teasing words as she pivoted on her heel, slashing at the forearm attached to the hand that held her bow. "A little unsporting of you, don't you think?" HP: 45 DMG: 2 CHG: 2/3 | 0/2

Had there been no shield to save her Cami would have dropped her bow. As it was she tried to feebly slash back, feeling the resistance as she was blocked by the movement of Peyton's active guard. This close, arm throbbing, it was difficult to shoot another arrow without potentially shooting herself. Cursing under her breath in pain and mild frustration the Sun trainee tried to get herself untangled from what was going to be her doom if she didn't get moving and away, and fast. "Staying alive isn't a sport, Peyton. Besides, if I shoot you in the back, you'll turn so I can shoot you in the front too." Giving away her strategy? Well, it was a pretty obvious one. And she could never resist a good quip. HP: 30/40 DMG: 0 CHG: 1/3

"Yeah?" She laughed, teasing the trainee, but all in good fun. "How'd that work for you?" Dancing back and away, the petite Sun bounced on the balls of her feet as she waited for Cami to get back to her's. No kicking a man while they were down, least not in a spar. This was just practice, fun and games even. When the other girl was back up Peyton snapped forward, weaving around the long bow and coming in for a body shot. Spiked knuckles sinking into the taller girl's stomach. HP: 45 DMG: 4 CHG: 2/3 | 0/2

Air wooshed out of the trainee's lungs as her petite partner rushed in to playfully eviscerate her. Cami was starting to re-think her stance of not running as quickly as she could in the other direction from anyone that offered her a spar, to which her bow started to almost painfully shriek inside of her brain. < You will do NOTHING of the sort! You are Sun Division and Sun Division stands and FIGHTS, Camille! If you're going to run and hide turn my tablet in so that I can be with a REAL hunter! >That snapped her spine straighter at least, Cami ignoring shooting her bow as she tried to kick out at Peyton's legs. The dainty Sun hopped away from the kick, smiling cheerfully at her sparring partner before giving a small shake of her head. "And what good would that do you in the long run, sweetness? If you just wanted target practice, we have some nice stationary dummies over that way." She pointed off the the left, indicating the dummies in question. "Accuracy is all well and good, but I doubt very much a horseman or fear creature will stand still for you to shoot at them." Her grin grew, and she snapped forward before spinning on her heel as she reached the other sun's side. It let her bring her arm down in an arc, dragging her blade along the poor trainee's arm. Cursing at the blade that came down on her arm it interrupted what Camille was trying to do with the bow and instead dropped it so that she was forced to bend and try to retrieve her incredibly disgruntled revenant. If nothing else this was going to teach the redhead that she had to practice being stabbed in the arm -- this wasn't the first time a nasty shock down her arm had forced her to drop her weapon. "Yeah but it doesn't hurt to ask nice and see if you can't get lucky, does it?" The previous statement had been a joke but this was a genuine question. Though they made her afraid it was the newbie Sun's thought that maybe the Halloween creatures weren't all that smart. Maybe she could get through that way. HP: 23/40 DMG: 0 CHG: 1/3
