Ligiea was hopping along in front of his father, wings flutter and now and again got himself to flutter a bit, then he would land, bounce more, flap more, flutter, land. Behind him his father was smiling brightly at the progress that his son was making in his efforts to fly. He was gonna be doing it any time now he was sure. He was sure that soon enough the muscles in his wings would be all ready.

The two were heading to the classroom, to get things set up for one of the upcoming classes, and later they were talking about maybe going to visit the dragon egg that Ligeia had been talking about all night.

"Becareful Ligeia! Your gonna end up falling if your not." He called ahead to his child who was moving along rather far ahead with his bouncings.

"I will!" He called back to his father.

"M-mama Ray?" Anoki tugged Raven's hand for only the fifth time since they'd left the apartment. She was doing it again, the thing where she told him to get ready because they were going to do the "E" word. The evil, evil, "E" word. And whenever they did, it meant Anoki had to stand still and be bored for a very long time.

"M-mama Ray, wh-where are w-w-we g-going?"

For the fifth time, Raven sighed and tried not to be annoyed. However had she managed without Mahou? Now that her assistant had gone visiting for a few days she had to constantly watch over the child, to make sure he didn't get into something or another. She couldn't even leave him for a nap anymore. It was most exhausting. "Running some errands. Now do be quiet please, Anoki Kenelm."

It WAS the "E" word. But she would never say exactly where they were going. Maybe, if she told him, he would stop asking. But she didn't, so he wouldn't.

Instead, he looked ahead and started counting the people he saw. Most of them were boring, in suits or lab coats, and all of them were big. But there was one coming towards him, jumping every few steps, that was his size. With a small squeak, Anoki yelped and hid behind Raven.

Ligeia's flutterings and bouncings came to an abbrupt halt and he stood there frozen in place as if it would help him to be invisible. Then he looked back at his father who was smiling, "Ahh. Hello there." He greeted Raven and Anoki and hurried his steps to catch up to his son, laying a hand on his shoulder.

Ligeia blinked a couple times then tilted his head to the side, he looked over at the two in front of him. He scooted over a little bit so that he could see the boy that was hiding behind the lady, "Hello." He greeted him, finding it easier to approach then the little adults.

Maybehewouldn'tbeseenmaybehewouldn'tbeseenmaybe-

They saw him.

"Greetings," Raven returned with some degree of curiosity. As tedious as it was to get to know the parents of her future charges, it had to be done, and the sooner the better. However not knowing what to say next- it was a bit too soon to offer one's name- she halted in her tracks and stayed quiet.

Anoki winced. The grown ups were going to do talking things, and that was boring. But the one who was his size was saying something. Hello? "H-hello... w-who're y-y-you?"

Orpheus gave a little laugh and lifted in his up in front of him, "Akward first meeting." He said as he waved them in front of him then grinned, "Names Orpheus Solon, this is my son Ligeia." He said pointing at the owl that was seeming to be trying to slowly, carefully as if he weren't sure if Anoki were dangerous, creep towards the other child.

"I'm Ligeia!" He greeted Anoki, "How about you? What is your name?" He was quite proud of himself, he'd done it! He'd gone up and greeted someone. The result of course being his heart beating a mile a minute and his wings fluttering nervously behind him but the fact stilll was that he suceeded.

Raven tilted her head in agreement, thoughtful. The name sounded familiar, but she couldn't place it just yet. "I am Raven Millner, and this is Anoki Kenelm. It is a pleasure, Mister Solon. Tell me, have you been here long?"

Not that she was in the mood for small talk, but she was genuinely curious about how other people were reacting to the odd company. In addition, she hoped that if the man talked she could place him. Solon... it did ring a bell, but where?

It was difficult to decide where to look. The big person was, well, big, and the little person was little. But the little person was sort of white, and had wings, like Earako. And was saying something again... his name. "I-I'm An-noki K-Kenelm," Anoki sputtered. He hated being put on the spot, even if it was for something easy.

He took a deep breath, then added "A-are y-you a b-b-bat? L-like 'R-rako?"

"Its is good to meet the both of you." He said then gave a bit of a laugh, "Yep, quite a while. I'm one of the ones they were able to dupe into teaching." He said jokingly, really he didn't mind that much. Nice place to stay, food, all the coffee he wanted, and a son. He couldn't much complain could he?

"How about you?" He asked.

Ligeia fluttered his wings and seemed to puff up a bit, "Bat? No, not a bat. I am Snow-Eeeeeey Owl!" He said, feathery wings flapping then settled, "Never s-Eeeeen a bat what is it?"

Him? A teacher? That explained why his name would be familiar, but even so... Raven sized up the man in front of her, doubtful he would be able to teach his way out of a paper bag. Still, it wouldn't pay to be rude yet. After all, Lilly appeared useless enough, but she did have some sense.

"I see. Then we are in the same boat, in a manner of speaking, as I am also a teacher. Tell me, what is your field of expertise?" This would be interesting.

So he was different. That did make sense. After all, Anoki thought, Earako's wings were sort of pointy and smooth, and these were more fluffy. "O-oh. A b-bat's..." What exactly was a bat? "L-like a b-bird, b-but n-n-not."

Close enough.

"Experitse... erm..." He tipped his head to the side then gave a laugh, "I wonder if Zoology would be the right term." He murmured half to himself then gave have shrug, "I do all the fun stuff! I get to teach them to fly, swim, scavage you know. Animal stuff."

He liked his job cause he could make most everything into a game and still be doing his work.

"What about you?" He asked looking her over, "You look like one of thoe smart types I bet you teach something hard?" Something that would be over his head he was sure.

"Ahhh. I s-Eeeeee." He said nodding his head some, so bats were like birds but not? He was going to have to try to find himself one of these bats to see what they were like. They sounded interesting. Then he turned his onyx eyes back to Anoki to study him for a moment, "Are you a deer?" Its sorta what he looked like, "Or a sh-Eeep?" Curly horns kinda looked sheepish but the color made him think deer.

He asked since Anoki asked what he was and he wanted to keep talking to him. To show that he could do it!

"Ah, I see. Physical education in some way, is it not?" That made a little more sense. He didn't seem any more brawny than brainy, but perhaps he had talents that were hidden. Either that, or D-Corp wasn't too selective about their instcuctors. Probably a bit of both.

That didn't stop Raven from puffing up proudly when asked, however. At least the man could spot talent. "I am the spellcasting instructor. Though at the moment my job only extends as far as research, as my pupils are still too young."

That question was also an easy one. Anoki didn't mind at all that Ligeia didn't know what exactly he was, most people thought he was a deer or something anyway. "'M a ib-bex. Ibex," he repeated more clearly. "I-it's a s-sorta g-goat."

A little boldly, Anoki pointed to Ligeia with his unhurt arm. "C-can you f-f-fly?"

"Theres a good way of saying it." He said, tapping a finger to his chin then laughed, "Gym then. Ahhh. Spellcasting huh? Wait students?" He looked over at Ligeia, "I didn't know they kids had magical apptitude. That should be interesting." And messy to he was sure, giving magic to kids should prove to be one of those things that was definately worth watching, "How old do your students have to be to take your magic lessons?"

"Ibex?" He repeated then nodded, oh! It was like a goat then, he understood and that was rather cool.

"Fly? Ahh... I try to fly." He told him, giving a little flutter of his wings, "Currently more... gliding then flying." At least he didn't do crashing which was fantastic! He didn't want to find out what that was like.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 17, 2006 6:55 pm

That was a good question, and one that Raven didn't have an answer for. How old did the children have to be before they could begin in her class? She had never been told an exact age, only that she would be informed when classes were to begin. Perhaps that was intentional. Then again, it didn't matter either way, as long as she got paid.

"Older than they are now," she finally answered, and left it at that.

Anoki knew all about crashing, but was far more interested in the flying part. Flying, or gliding even, looked like so much fun! The closest thing he had experienced to it was the momentary feeling of weightlessness before plummeting to the ground, which wasn't nearly as enjoyable. "S-so you c-can g-go u-up in the sk-sky? A-and n-not f-f-fall?"

"Well I wish you luck with your classes when they start." He said then glanced over at Ligeia, "And I am sure that he will behave for you." Or else he was gonna get himself into some big trouble. From what he had seen though Ligeia wasn't really one for not behaving himself.

Ligeia gave a little shrugg and scratched the back of his head, "Normally I just sorta... jump off of things and float." He said, "Or bounce and flap." Which was what he'd been doing when they had crossed paths, "Hoping to fly for real soon."

He did just that jumping up in place a couple times, wings flapping. He was able to keep up in the air for a few moments.

Raven nodded politely. "It is a pleasure to hear that, Mister Solon. Hopefully all of my students will take after him in that way."

Whether she actually believed him or not, she wasn't sure, but she had dealt with other parents in a similar fashion before and it worked well. "Is there an age limit for your class as well? I don't believe Anoki Kenelm has ever attended one of your lessons."

The small moments of hovering weren't quite what Anoki was expecting. He thought that birds could go up high, into the clouds even! Still, he wouldn't dream of saying that. For one thing, it would hurt other people's feelings, and for another he would probably get yelled at. Neither of those were things he wanted to happen.

"S'm-more t-than I c-can d-do," he said excitedly. "W-when I-I'm in t-the a-air... I-I c-c-come d-down h-hard, and it h-h-hurts l-lots." He didn't point his arm out specifically- Raven had instructed him not to- but he couldn't help rocking it a little. He couldn't do much fun stuff for a while, and it still hurt sometimes.

"Nope, no age limit. I figure if I am gonna be teaching kids to fly and swim and such things its best to start them as young as the parents think is best." He said as he looked over at Anoki, "And there are a lot of different classes I normally post up messages about them. Hes welcome to attend the ones that he would find himself comfortable in."

Ligeia tilted his head, "You don't have wings right?" He asked tilting his head as if he had maybe missed them, it would explain why he had a hard time with staying in the air in Ligeia's mind. He gave a little smile, "Maybe when I fly well I can bring you up with m-Eeeee." He said, wings flapping.

Orpheus looked over at him, "One step at a time Ligeia." He told him.
