quite uneventful

Keionx and Beastdad had travelled all the way to Chittentown today. Today, they were in search of a very different kind of adventure. This was not one that would require any tromping through wastelands or swordplay. Nor would it require any monsters to be slain or heroics to be had.

Just the exertion of the mind and imagination.

Keionx was going to the library.

She had a healthy collection of adventure books and heroic tales, but she'd read them all over and over. She wasn't getting tired of them - how could she get tired of them! They were her friends - her main, and possibly only friends before she had found Zariah.

She just wanted to find an adventure she hadn't read before, something with lots of plot and intrigue and blood of various colors and all that good stuff.

She'd found the library without much trouble, and had to leave beastdad outside because he was too big. That was all right, though. Keionx could handle herself on her own.

She walked into the stacks, feeling delighted at the thought of exploring them - she'd been to a library only once before, a long time back, and was so happy to be back here. She wanted to explore it all, but she had to first complete her quest.

So she headed right for the Adventure section and looked through until she found a name both unfamiliar and intriguing; 'Troll Treasure Island'

She reached for it, but it was too far. She hopped and reached for it again... still too far. She tried again and again... still not enough. She sighed and looked around for someone to help....

Even mighty heroes needed help. Sometimes...

      Reading, reading, reading.

If Vremea could describe her life in one word at this very moment, she would use the word 'reading' to describe it. Or 'books'. 'Library'. 'Work'. She wasn't saying this with the intention of stopping-- oh no, this yellowblood was planning on continuing with the collection of books she dedicated her (current) life to, but sometimes she wondered when was... 'Enough'. She never knew, really-- her life was always the same. Wake up, go to work #1, work #2, go home, faint from exhaustion. She barely had the time to say hello to her lusus anymore. She only had the time to set her food for her, give her a soft pat, and leave, once a day. She... felt kind of bad, now. Hopefully she could get more time...

Vremea sighed to herself, having taken an afternoon just to observe the others around her when a familiar face entered the library. Oh, well, look who it was! Was that Keionx from the Bloodfest event that was held a couple weeks ago? Oh goodness, it had been ages since she last saw her-- the most she'd seen from her and her brother was... the WACKY machine thing. She was paired with her younger brother, but never had the chance to ask how she'd been. Maybe now?

It was almost like she had a soft spot for children these days. Watching the girl a little more, Vremea slid out of her chair and stood up, walking over to the girl. The closer she walked, the better she saw which book she was reaching for. The yellowblood refrained from chuckling-- she was so used to seeing her acting all high and mighty, and now that she seemed so helpless, the female felt a little bit of a smirk slide onto her face. "Hello there, may I help you with anything?" The doll-like female let a small, familiar smile grace her features and bent down next to the young orangeblood to facilitate speaking to her. She was so adorable, gosh!

Keionx was very used to being high and mighty and, most importantly, capable. So it was embarrassing to even need help at all. It was especially embarrassing that someone had seen her fail at reaching this treasure island book. She wasn't sure if the fact that she knew Vremea from Bloodfest made it better. She blushed, her face falling into an adorable pout.

"Yes..." she said in a very small voice, pointing, almost guiltily, at the book. It was as if she'd done something wrong or had gotten in trouble, instead of just failing to reach a book.

And she might well have been! Beastdad loved her, but he was not easy on her. Zariah could get away with anything. But Keionx... she was supposed to be able to do things on her own, without much help. He disciplined her, and he trained her hard.

So perhaps she was in trouble as she shyly asked the yellowblood for help.

Vremea almost felt pity for the young girl when she saw her face burn orange, refraining from chuckling as she lightly patted her head and stood up, getting the book and handing it over to Keinox. Next to Kei, Vremea felt like a tower-- not that she minded, as usually she was shorter than most of her friends. But next to her kid friends, Vremea was like a tree! "Keionx, please do not be afraid to ask for help. It is not a bad thing to do." She explained, standing up straight and patting down her dress. "You may be a knight, and I know your lusus can come on quite strongly at times, but it does not hurt to ask." She said softly, then patted her head again. "How are you? How have you and Zariah been?" She asked, motioning to her desk, asking if she'd like to check out the book.

Keionx accepted the book, her eyes wide and filled with gratitude. ”Thank you.” she said quietly. Vremea had always been a trustworthy librarian person – one of the few who held the books Keionx sought and a nice person besides. Secretly, Keionx wished she could be like her – effortlessly elegant and good hearted. And tall.

But... the comment about her Lusus... ”Beastdad knows whats best...” she murmured unhappily, but confidently. Beastdad was a hero, and he worked hard to train her and take care of Zariah. She loved him.

But yes... he could get a bit harsh, and... well... ”But I shall keep that in mind.” she whispered hastily. Of course Vremea gave her good advice. If she needed help, she would ask. Away from dad. And probably just Vremea.

She put the book on the desk and produced her library card. Her card was a little beat up from her adventures, but it was kept legible and in decent condition at least – this card was nearly as precious to Keionx as any treasure. ”Zariah is fine, I think. He hath been writing a goodly amount lately... he wilt not let me see what he writes, though.” Keionx did want to see, too. He was so creative, and she wanted to share in that. ”He stayeth in his room, mainly.” she commented quietly. She wanted to see him too, and tell him of her adventures.

It wasn't too strange that the yellowblood should know of her brother – he'd been with her down here once or twice, after all, and Vremea was, of course, considerate enough to ask about the health of anybody (or at least it seemed that way to Keionx). And so, for Keionx, there was no suspicion of nefarious activity, no inkling that there was anything other than good, wholesome, goodness involved.

Had Keionx always been this adorable? Vremea smiled radiantly, giving her a nod in reply, always willing to help a fellow friend. Her words of Beastdad felt a little dry, however, and though Vremea could say more, she definitely wasn't going to— That would make Vremea seem as though she was her lusus! And she definitely wasn't one. "Thank you for considering. And oh my, writing." Vremea's pump biscuit swelled at the word— she had actually just finished writing a few paragraphs about her favorite matespiritship, Chevalier de la Torre and Donna Elsiee... <3 They were so cute, the forbidden relationship between a anonymous mutant lowblood and a highblooded countess... So adorable! "That is very sad, though. Is there no way to get him out of his room? It seems to me that he needs to talk more with others. It will help him in the long run." He wasn't very strong, after all— he was just a fragile little thing, and honestly, Vremea understood why Keionx called Zariah the princess. "Are you perhaps looking for another book, or is it just that one? I have a few books in mind that I think you just might like!"
