Nestled in an out-of-the-way, less-populated area of Canada lives Absalom Levite - or better known by the moniker Malkuth. He is most known for the frequent donations he gives towards services like charities, soup kitchens, education, and even local fund-raisers. Many are actually surprised to hear that he is the rich owner of the huge place on the outskirts of their little town since - from the few times he has been seen in town, anyway - he seems so soft-spoken, kind, and humble. His estate is anything but.
The property is spacious with a generously long driveway and a sprawling landscape of gardens, pools, ponds, and cobbled paths. The far-off borders of the property are lined with a tall black wrought-iron fence with a locking front and rear gate to keep ruffians at bay.
The front of the estate has a hilly front yard leading up to it with a large paved area directly in front of the house for receiving guests directly from their vehicles. Two paths to that paved area make it convenient for traffic to come in one way and leave by the other. From the front, one can see beautiful, dark wood double-doors nestled between tall, bold pillars that hold up one of several terraces on the second floor. Inside the house, it is decorated in the rich, ornate, and bold designs of the Victorian age. Just past the doors is a foyer that connects to the library (which then connects to the vacuous west porch), the ballroom, the dining room, the kitchen, and the drawing room. Up the comfortably wide staircase (also located in the foyer) lay the office, two bathrooms, and four bedrooms. Of those aforementioned rooms, there is one master bedroom with an ajoined bathroom and three other bedrooms.
The back of the home has an outdoor patio area that overlooks a spacious, grassy back yard and provides glimpses of the rest of the property. Not too far beyond the border of trees surrounding the back yard is the outdoor pool along with a cottage traditionally meant for the housekeeping staff to live, though now is vacant. Directly behind the pool is a modest lake with a gazebo on its edge. Elsewhere on the property, down a long path from the west porch, lay the expansive and impressive pond gardens with breathtaking statuary abound.

“Whoever said money cannot bring happiness must not know where to shop.” ___________________________________ absalom ᎷᎪᏞᏦᏌᎢᎻ levite
INDENT The Hôtel des Esclaves was not an establishment that made empty promises, he had been told. When they said that the slaves would arrive at his door between two and three in the afternoon, they would be sure not to disappoint. A man, dressed in a fine tailored suit and wearing an embroided blindfold, stood high on the front balcony that overlooked the long, meandering drive up to the house. Surely that man would seem like a lord of the manor looking out at the unwashed masses; though the fences that lined the perimeter of the property were so distant there was no way someone could see him to make such a judgment. No, this man was alone and had been alone the duration of his ownership of the house and even well before that. He didn't mind it. Being alone meant no one was there to judge him. And he would continue to be alone even after the faint purring of powerful engines that he could hear on the wind had come and gone. Why? The cargo he was expecting did not count as people and they certainly didn't count as women. To say as such would be preposterous, like calling a puddle a great lake. No, what he was expecting happened to be the first two specimens for a new collection hobby and nothing more.
INDENT He turned and made his way back inside, navigating with practiced precision through his home. Above the fireplace mantle straight ahead lay candleholders and small statuary; to the right would be an antique Chinese vase gilded with pure gold and inlaid with precious stones. As he rounded a corner to the stairs there would be a figure carved from several large pieces of real ivory. Each item could be named, found, touched, shown off, and their cost could be recalled if he so wanted. None of the purchases were ever made through cheque or - blaspheme the thought! - credit; they were all paid for in cash, including the very house and property itself. If asked why, he would say it was so all parties would be honest. He could feel money in his hands, count it, know that what he held was worth its weight; the same could not be said for a rectangular scrap of plastic or a mere slip of paper. The realtor believed it was perhaps that he had trouble signing his name and was later blown away when, with astounding skill, he signed his name on the papers for the house:
INDENT Absalom M. Levite
INDENT The locals knew him as Malkuth.
INDENT Malkuth was at his front double doors by the time he could hear the Hôtel des Esclaves' vehicles close their own doors. Four times in all, he noted. There were four bodies most likely - two drivers/guards and the other two were his new possessions. The knock occurred, loud and echoing, due entirely to the provided heavy door knocker in the shape of a rather angry looking humanoid. Though he was there, he waited before opening. One... two... three... four... five... six... And on seven he opened both doors to face the visitors to his otherwise solitary property.
INDENT "Welcome," Malkuth said with what appeared to be a warm smile, though something was... lacking. Perhaps it was simply that only half his face visible. "Gentlemen, I thank you for your diligence."
INDENT Hands were shaken and a thick envelope of gratuity was given to each of the escorts before he stepped aside to allow the two new specimens to enter with the softly-spoken words come in, girls, you must be tired as their only instruction. He heard one pair of steps enter and did not hear a second; instead, he felt a subtle movement of air and the faintest sound of something brushing over the floors. Assuming both were inside, he closed the doors and began to walk off through the house. It was only a relatively short trek from the front entrance to the doorway of the dining room which he pushed with one arm in a silent indication to usher them inside. After hearing both bodies make their way as directed he also entered, crossing the room to the rectangular table that was set up with afternoon tea, cakes, pastries, breads, sandwiches, and all their related things. He seated himself, crossed his legs, rested his elbows on the arms of his chair, and steepled his fingers. There was a peculiar smile on his face as he instructed, "Come, girls, sit down. You may help yourself to tea and such, as you see fit."
INDENT Malkuth gave them enough time to sit, then let a little more time lapse after that. It wasn't long enough for them to begin babbling on in order to fill the void of silence, but it was enough to let a little discomfort - no, anxiety - build. Then he finally began:
INDENT "You may call me Father Malkuth. Either or is also acceptable. This is your new home. In exchange for providing you with a life of luxury I ask that you obey certain rules. Does that make sense?" He did not give them time to answer. "The first and most important rule is that you do not leave the property. You may go outside and enjoy the spacious yard, pool, and gardens, but you should not wander to the edges of the property. If you can see the fence, then you have gone too far. The second thing that I ask is that you stay out of my bedroom and office. The rooms are adjacent, so it should be easy to remember. I will lock the doors in case you forget. Now, if you need anything, I have a boy that comes once a week to do my shopping. There is a notepad in the kitchen that I write my list on. You may add to it whatever you would like - clothing, personal items, toiletries, food, whatever you would like excluding electronic gadgets like music players and computers and phones. There is only one phone in this house; that is in my office. Now," he leaned forward slightly, "As you may guess, there are certain... nuances between me and, say, most other people you may have met. Please remember to put things back where you found them. Push your chairs in when you are done, close cabinet doors, pick up after yourself, things like that. And I do hope that you will both be eager and willing to assisst me if I ever call on you for something. Can I depend on you, girls?"
INDENT Finally, Malkuth allowed the girls to get a word in. Though, he allowed only a word or so, just enough for some sort of confirmation from at least one of them before continuing with a broader smile, "I am pleased to hear that. I expect we will all get along well. Now then, do either of you have any questions? Anything you would like to share with me...?"
INDENT Thankfully he had a generally soft, somewhat pleasant voice; otherwise, the ringing of his lengthy verbage would have been much more dreadful. But finally it was over to allow the girls to fill the silence with their own voices (if they chose to do so), speaking to only half of their new master's impassive, enigmatic face.

Medusa "Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under't" ❝ INDENTMedusa was curled up on her bed when the knock at her door sounded. It was not meal time, and the maid had already come for the day, so there was only one other reason anyone would be at her door. She slithered to the floor as it opened, prepared to greet another Master or Mistress who was shopping around, to see that there was only a guard. She watched the man, confused. "You've been purchased via catalog Medusa," he provided, in answer to her silent question. "You're to be delivered today via car." She did not speak to reply. Instead, she nodded, and slithered through the door the guard was holding open for her- she had no possessions save the clothes on her back. She wore a borrowed robe when they were washed. She waited to the side as he closed it. "This way," he said. She followed obediently, down to the foyer, where one of the secretary's waved with a smile. "Goodbye Medusa!" she called. "Goodbye," Medusa returned quietly. In the driveway was a black van with tinted windows waiting for her. The guard opened the back, and she peered inside to see that it was actually quite roomy, and padded. She slithered in, making sure to tuck her tail out of the way. The guard gave her a once over. "You're going to Canada," he informed her, "To Malkuth Manor." She nodded to show she understood. Her snakes were starting to get annoyed with all this movement, and she reached up a hand to soothe them, despite being bit for her efforts. "Thank you," she began, "and goodbye." The guard nodded once firmly, and slammed the doors closed before giving them two firm slaps. The driver who had been in the front of the idling vehicle the entire time put the van into gear, and she was off to her new home. She could only wonder whether this home would be a kind one.
They stopped only once on the drive, for gas and some refreshments for the driver. He was kind enough to bring her water and a straw, for which she thanked him. He really was a kind person. When they slowed to a stop a second time, it was after they had passed through an intimidating wrought-iron gate. What she had seen of the estate so far was impressive. Filled with nature and quiet, Medusa allowed a small seed of hope to root itself deep within her. Perhaps this place wouldn't just be livable. Perhaps she could be happy. She looked up at the impressive Manor as she waited for the driver to let her out. It was only when she has slithered onto the pavement that she noticed another car unloading another girl. She blinked, confused, but said nothing. Who was she to question her new owners whims? Besides, the guard who had seen her off might not have even known, or if he did, hadn't felt the need to add this tidbit of information to the short briefing he had allowed her at the beginning of her trip. She wasn't all that surprise. After all, she was just a slave. She nodded to the other girl, but said nothing as the ascended the stairs to the large front door. One of the drivers stepped forward and made use of the large knocker one, two, three times before releasing it and stepping back. They waited a few moments before the door opened to reveal a gentleman. Finely dressed and fine-haired, he wore a blindfold. Blinking, Medusa took him in. Was this her new master? She had no idea, but waited patiently while he greeted the drivers, paid them, and sent them on their way. He addressed them only once while they were at the door, instructing them to follow him inside.
Medusa allowed the other girl to go first before entering herself, sliding by the man with barely a sign of her passing. Still, he must have sensed her somehow, for he shut the door behind her before leading the way into the house. She found herself passing him again into a room just off the foyer, which appeared to be set up for tea. Allowing a slight smile to cross her face (he couldn't see it, and therefore wouldn't punish her for it), she approached the table, hesitating when she reached it properly. Was it for them? She watched as he seated himself, waiting for some indication of what she was to do, relieved when she received it. The Naga sat as ordered, curling her tail around and under the chair to try and keep it out of the way, and reached to pour tea for the gentleman, the other girl and herself. He had not told her to, but it was only polite to serve your superiors first. Having poured the tea, she gently set the pot back down in its place and hesitantly reached out for a tea biscuit and the whipped cream. When she was not reprimanded, she topped the biscuit with the cream, as well as marmalade, and nibbled tentatively at it. She was not particularly hungry, but she had missed having tea, and she did not want the opportunity to properly enjoy it slip by. She listened carefully as he began to speak, occasionally taking silent sips from her cup. So he was their new master. She was glad that that had been cleared up. She did her best to memorize the rules as he spoke them. Fortunately, they were easy enough to remember. Finally, they were expected to speak. "Can I depend on you girls?" he asked, to which she readily answered, "Yes Father." She hissed slightly, and involuntarily on her 's'. He seemed unbothered by this, and continued once he had that affirmation. "I am pleased to hear that. I expect we will all get along well. Now then, do either of you have any questions? Anything you would like to share with me...?" Now, it wasn't that Medusa didn't have questions- she really did! But she was unsure whether she should ask them. She looked to the other girl, to see if she could take some sort of cue from her. Perhaps she had the confidence to know what to do.❞

Wherever I may roam: Marketplace ---> Malkuth's Estate
The beautiful people: Guard ---> Malkuth and Medusa
xxBehind those eyes: A new home, hm? Wonder how this is gonna turn out...
Overly Obdurated Creature : Sorry if this is a crappy post. I'm recovering from a headache. >.<
↷ℤəρɧɩɾɩɒ↶ ╞════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╡
Another ordinary day, hm? Just another boring day of sitting in her room as the paint on her toenails dried a blood red to match her eyes. The white and blue kimono that she wore tied around her waist with a red obi tied in a butterfly bow. The kimono, which was a gift from her former master and the only clothing she had with her, was a little bigger on her than it used to be, though she just tightened it around her thinning form. But as they say, a woman can never be too skinny, right? Zephiria was balled up on the edge of her bed, sitting with her legs up to her chest, her arms crossed over her knees and her chin resting on her forearms. After all, there was no one other than her in the room to impress, so what was the point of sitting formally or elegantly. "This is about as fun as watching paint dry..." She said, joking to herself about actually watching the paint on her toe nails dry.
A knock on the door made her automatically unfold from her position, straightening her clothes and standing up, smoothing the silk fabric over with her hands before the guard opened her door and peered inside. Her smile instantly disappeared as the guard pushed the door open the rest of the way and stepped inside, leaving the door open behind him. "Some has ordered you from the catalog. You will be delivered to his estate by car. Please come this way." Zephiria nodded to the guard, before stepping into her geta and stepping from her room, waiting for the guard before she followed him down the stairs and out of the building, not talking to any of the staff. As they exited the building and made it to the car, one of the guards held the door for her as she got into the back seat and waited for them to go.
It was a long way to the household of her new master, stopping once or twice for gas, she didn't really care how far away it was. Red eyes watched out the window as trees and towns and lakes flew by, boredom running through her mind. Once they came to the wrought-iron gate, Zeph sat up and smoothed the fabric of her kimono once more to look better for he new master, pulling lightly on the silken fabric to make it fit a little better. As they came to a stop, the guard/driver got out and moved to open her door and let her get out of the vehicle where she saw another car letting out a naga. Zephiria was curious as to why there were two of them, but she said nothing about it as she was led up the front steps to the door where one of the drivers was knocking using the knocker. A few seconds passed as they waited at the door for the master of the house to open it.
A sharply dressed man opened the door, a blindfold on over his eyes as he paid the drivers and sent them away. He stepped to the side to allow the two women into the home and Zeph followed his instruction, stepping into the doorway first, her heels hitting lightly against the floor as she walked into the entryway. The man closed the doors behind the two women and then he began to walk forward. She followed him, her body moving in it's natural sway that most women tried to replicate, as they made the way to the dining room that was set up for tea. Red eyes examined the room as the man went to go sit at the table and instructed the two women to sit at the table as well. Casting a look toward the naga, Zephiria turned back and moved to take a seat at the table.
As soon as the man said to help themselves, she watched as the other girl poured tea for all three of them, giving her a smile and a nod of thanks without uttering a word to her. Zeph sipped her tea slowly and politely before reaching out for a small tea cake and simply eating it as it was, her manners impeccable given how much her previous masters had all but whipped them into her. Silence stretched for a short while before the man began to speak. Raising red eyes up to watch the man as he spoke, she listened attentively to him as he explained their new rules to them. Every now and then, Zephiria flicked her eyes over to the other woman, but they always returned quickly to the man at the table.
"Can I depend on you, girls." He asked at the end of his speech and she almost nodded out of habit before she caught herself. The other woman answered first before Zeph replied. "Yes Father Malkuth." She said, her voice more smooth and clear. As their new master went on, asking if they had any questions, she looked toward the other woman who was looking at her as if waiting for a cue or something and the Ziz took up the opportunity. "I have a question, if I may ask. What must we do for you, Father Malkuth? Forgive my being so bold, but no master really gives their pets almost free reign without wanting something in return." She asked, her bold personality coming out, not hiding the fact that she was how she was.

“Whoever said money cannot bring happiness must not know where to shop.” ___________________________________ absalom ᎷᎪᏞᏦᏌᎢᎻ levite
INDENT The serpentine girl did not pose a question just yet, Malkuth noted, instead listening as the other has a somewhat disappointing inquiry. Neither of them cared to ask about him; it seemed they were both young and impudent to both think only of themselves and things that would impact them. She even dared to make such a broad blanket statement about masters. How, pray tell, could a slave know about all slave holders? And the gall of comparing him to an average, ordinary person! Ah, well, with the beauty of youth also came the narrowness of mind, didn't it?
INDENT "All I want in return," Father told his girls patiently, "is for you both to follow my simple rules. Do not wander off. Do not enter my room or office. Come if I call and be compliant when I ask for favors. You are not required to do more than that, though you are welcome to help in the housekeeping if you so wish."
INDENT That same faint upward tug on the corners of his mouth, that visage of a pleasant expression, appeared once more as he calmly asked if they had any other questions. Finally the little serpent spoke up to inquire where the girls were to sleep. What children! Though, to be fair, if they had asked about him he had only a half chance to actually answer them. Perhaps they hadn't noticed the wedding band he still wore? Usually that was something people found most interesting and always was that a story he never fully told.
INDENT "Ah, yes. I was planning on showing you, briefly, around. I hope you'll forgive me for not being thorough, but I'm quite confident you can both familiarize yourselves with your own eyes," he commented, lacking the wryness that would seem natural in such a statement. He stood and gestured with a sweep of his arm towards the door they had entered through. "If you girls are finished for now, I will show you upstairs and you can pick your rooms."
INDENT ...which was a polite way to tell them to drop what they were doing, if anything, and come along. He led the girls out of the dining room. As he found his way through the foyer (quietly swiftly and without bumping into anything, at that) and to the staircase he explained the contents of the first floor, in which the girls were free to explore when they had a chance: library, porch, ballroom, dining room, kitchen, and drawing room. He also explained that he had beautiful, sprawling gardens and wooded areas, paths, ponds, and a swimming pool. By the time he rounded the landing and began up the upper half of the stairs he was explaining the contents of the second floor of the house: two bathrooms and four bedrooms in total, though one of each was his, the bathroom being ajoined to the master bedroom. There were three vacant bedrooms with which the girls could choose from as their own. There was another set of stairs that proceeded further up and he explained that led to the attic space and then on to the roof, though nothing of particular interest was there aside from perhaps some chairs. As they reached the top there was another room, similar to the foyer, a big, relatively empty room though this one had a fireplace and led to a large terrace from which the front of the breathtaking property could be viewed. He motioned towards one side of the room, to the doors that could be seen behind the stairs and wrapping around towards the fireplace. "Those doors there," he explained, "are to the bedrooms. The one on the very end is the bathroom. On the other side of this room are the master bedroom and my office. You may get yourselves situated now. If you have any more questions, you may ask whenever you wish."
INDENT With that, Malkuth began the journey back down the stairs and to the dining room. The girls may have wanted to wash up or even get aquainted, as he was sure they had probably never met before. Though, he thought, it wouldnm't be surprising if they simply went their own ways and claimed a room for themselves. They didn't seem terribly thoughtful. And they had never even properly introduced themselves, though of course he already knew their names and their exotic, rare, collectible races. And they hadn't said anything about themselves, though if they had, he probably wouldn't have cared too much. The girls couldn't possibly get into trouble so soon with the doors to the forbidden rooms locked. And if they tried to escape? He could hear if either one of them tried to sneak out through the doors. And if they tried to kill themselves by jumping out a window or any of the balconies? A waste of money but there was plenty more where that came from. It wasn't as if their lives had any deeper significance.

Wherever I may roam: Malkuth's Estate
The beautiful people: Malkuth and Medusa
xxBehind those eyes: Hmm...
Overly Obdurated Creature : Another crappy post, I'm sorry. I know it isn't a lot, but if needed, just say that she came out of her room ready to go back down and eat some more tea cakes. xD
↷ℤəρɧɩɾɩɒ↶ ╞════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╡
Zephiria listened in silence to his words. She became weary and suspicious of her new master. No privilege came without a price. She'd learned that over so many years in this line of business. She just hoped that when it came to the time, that Father Malkuth wouldn't ask her for the pleasures of the flesh like so many other had before she'd turned them down flat and locked herself in her room in her animal form. But she nodded to his response, her worries not reflecting on her face as she gave a pleasant smile instead. Zeph had spent years being trained to not show a single emotion that was out of place. Completely flawless composure and proper as she nibbled on her small piece of tea cake and drank her tea. She cared not about delving into her new master's personal life... yet.
There would be plenty of time to come up with a game plan with her new partner in crime, if she could persuade the naga to go along with her plans. She didn't even know the other woman's name yet, but she would find out that soon enough too. No rush. The best games always happened after careful planning and patience. As the naga asked where they would sleep, she nodded, also wondering the answer to that question and hoping that he didn't want them in his bed, though she doubted that he'd open up about that so early in their 'relationship'.
Father Malkuth answered and she stood as he finished the sweep of his arm with the statement and the intentions for them to follow him up the stairs. She didn't finish her tea cake or her tea, but left them as they were as she followed him out of the dining room and into the foyer without bumping into a single thing. Zephiria listened as her new master continued to speak about the estate and then about the bedrooms and bathrooms on the second floor as well. She followed without a word, her movements elegant and smooth, a liquid grace to her movements that spoke volumes about her training.
Zeph looked at the doors and listened to him politely, nodding her head to show that she understood what he was saying. He left them with each other. The ziz looked at the other woman and smiled, a true smile rather than the practiced one that she'd been wearing since she'd arrived. "I didn't get to properly introduce myself earlier. My name is Zephiria, but please call me Zeph if you like." She said, holding out her hand to the naga for a shake. After the other woman introduced herself and shook hands (or not), the dark haired woman turned and went to the doors, opening them one by one to examine the bedrooms before claiming the third one as her own. The white bedroom furniture was pleasing to her senses and the silver accents made it feel a bit warmer than the other rooms somehow.
Zephiria didn't wait for the naga to put out the opinion that she wanted that room before the ziz turned to her with one of her fake smiles. "I'm gonna take this room, 'kay?" Though the question was rhetorical and she didn't wait for an answer before she went into the room and shut the door behind her. It was good not to have to force her smile any longer. The grin slid from her face as she took in a deep breath and leaned against the door, her head back and her red eyes closed as she waited in silence.
After a few moments, she moved away from the door and to the window, which she opened and breathed in the freedom of her new home, even if it was trading one captivity for another. She enjoyed this life most of the time. But right now? She just wanted a little time to get acquainted with what would be her bedroom.

Medusa "Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under't" ❝ INDENTThe other girl posed a question, which Father answered without scolding her. Because of this, Medusa felt confident enough to ask where they were expected to sleep. "Ah, yes. I was planning on showing you, briefly, around. I hope you'll forgive me for not being thorough, but I'm quite confident you can both familiarize yourselves with your own eyes," he commented, and Medusa noticed that his tone lacked any form of sarcasm, despite the irony of the statement. He stood and gestured with a sweep of his arm towards the door they had entered through. "If you girls are finished for now, I will show you upstairs and you can pick your rooms." It was not a question. Medusa rose from her seat, exiting the room after her new 'sister'. She listened attentively as Father lead the way through the manor, listening as he explained the details of each area. They ended in a large secondary foyer at the top of the stairs. Father gestured towards a row of doors on one side of the curving room. "Those doors there," he explained, "are to the bedrooms. The one on the very end is the bathroom. On the other side of this room are the master bedroom and my office. You may get yourselves situated now. If you have any more questions, you may ask whenever you wish." Knowing she must acknowledge that she understood, Medusa spoke. "Yes, thank you Father." She watched as the man departed, and turned to see the other girl smiling at her. "I didn't get to properly introduce myself earlier. My name is Zephiria, but please call me Zeph if you like." Zephiria offered her hand, and Medusa regarded it nervously before steeling herself with a breath and taking it, careful not to nick the other girl's skin with her nails as they shook hands. "Medusa," she returned, "Its nice to meet you Zephiria." She released Zephiria's hand and the other woman promptly began to open the doors to the bedrooms to examine them. Medusa peeked into each one after Zephiria had moved on to the next one. She was just peering past Zephiria to see a wonderfully sparse white room when she turned to face her with a smile plastered on her face. "I'm gonna take this room, 'kay?" Well. There went that option. The other girl was in her new room before Medusa finished managing to stutter out an 'okay'. She sighed, letting her head droop a moment before straightening back up and looking at the other two rooms again. After some debate, she chose the blue, green and beige bedroom as her own, closing both bedroom doors before deciding to return to her Father's side. Without bothering to try and tell the other girl which room she'd chose, since the other girl obviously wasn't particularly bothered by which room Medusa ended up with, the Naga slithered back down the stairs and through the foyer, peaking into the dining room to spot Malkuth. She knocked on the door before sliding in. "Father? Its Medusa. I've chosen a room." It was only then that the girl realized that she hadn't introduced herself earlier. Horrified with her own manners, she instantly set out to amend this embarrassing blunder. "I wish to formally apologize for not properly introducing myself earlier." There was a hint of worry in her tone, and she had to consciously focus some of her attention on not biting her lip as she waited for his response, hands clasped tightly together in front of her.❞

“Whoever said money cannot bring happiness must not know where to shop.” ___________________________________ absalom ᎷᎪᏞᏦᏌᎢᎻ levite
INDENT Malkuth plopped back into his usual seat - at the head of the table, of course - and exhaled deeply. He assumed the girls would be busy settling down or perhaps start to get to know each other. He would have time to himself, he assumed, as his fingers crawled over the surface of the table until he found his own tea cup. It had weight to it; it was full of warm tea. So one of the girls had poured some for him? He hadn't noticed. He inched his chair closer to the table to have some of the treats he had ordered, starting with an éclair and chased with tea and milk. A little bite-sized square of cake was next, politely guided to his mouth with a bright silver fork. Though the sweets were finger foods, he disliked getting his cloth dress gloves dirty and he disliked taking them off equally as much. The relatively young man spent only a few minutes alone before he could hear the old steps creak slightly. The lack of actual footsteps meant either someone was creeping around or the person going down them lacked feet. Malkuth quickly dabbed at his mouth with a cloth napkin and deposited it atop the table just as quickly. He leaned back in his chair and once more entwined his fingers in front of him, elbows planted this time on the arms of his chair, and faced the door he expected the visitor to enter - if at all.
INDENT It was the naga girl, Medusa, and she started off with a very polite introduction followed by an apology for having delayed in doing so. This girl was respectful... and quiet. He liked that. He smiled at her, then motioned vaguely to the room (or perhaps more) with a sweep of his arm. "You were quick to right your mistake and so I will forgive you, dear Medusa. I seem to have forgotten that both of you girls do not have anything to unpack. For such an esteemed, luxurious establishment, they could have included some basic necessities. Well, that is neither here nor there. How do you find your new home? Have you gotten a chance to look around?"
INDENT Of course she hadn't, he knew, but it would look good for him to ask - just as it had looked good for her to have apologized. Now, as for the other girl, Medusa was making her look thoughtless in comparison. Factoring in the brazen questioning she had done, even when he had been so explicit with his rules, just thinking about how entertaining this dynamic would be forced him to suppress a full smile. (Toothy smiles were brutish and uncouth and that was an image he would not project.) Once they had adjusted to the layout of the house and property, providing them clothes would be the next priority. He would call his usual errand boy to pick up some things in their sizes to hold them over until they were able to take out in public to only the finest establishments. Medusa seemed like she would be quick to realize her place and what was acceptable or unacceptable; as for the other one, Zephiria, he was envisioning her taking longer. A pet had no place questioning the words of their master, no matter if the command was sensible or not.
Quote: Don't feel obligated to include me in anything, lol. If the girls need some girl time that's cool. I don't mind observing... in fact, being a creepy voyeur is more Malkuth's style anyway haha~

Medusa "Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under't" ❝ INDENTTaking the man's gesture as an invitation to join him, Medusa returned to her seat from earlier, glad to be able to finish the tea biscuit she had helped herself to when they first entered the dining room. She did not want to seem ungrateful by not finishing her food, despite the fact that her Father had interrupted the meal in order to show them around the manor. Who could blame him, after the question she had asked? It was much easier to show them than try to explain, after all. She listened very carefully as he responded to her apology, bracing herself for the worst. Relieved that she had been forgiven, the tension left her body and a small yet genuine smile formed on her face. "Thank you Father. I am relieved that you have forgiven my blunder. Although I haven't yet looked around on my own, what I have seen of the Manor and the grounds is very beautiful and elegant. If one can make any sort of assumption based on appearances, I think I will be very happy during my time here. I look forward to exploring the manor and grounds properly." Some might say she was laying it on a little thick. However, Medusa was being truthful, and from the impression she had of her new Master thus far, her words and behaviour would please him. A pleased Master was generally a kinder one, though far be it from her to make any kind of assumption about her Father. After all, who was she, to presume to know his mind?
The Naga sipped at her tea, finding it to still be pleasantly warm, despite having sat abandoned on the table. Gazing at the elegant setting, she couldn't help but wonder who had prepared a such a fine tea. "If I may Father, who prepared the tea?" she asked, more confident now than she had been earlier. Since he seemed to be one to welcome pleasantries and idle conversation, she did not think he would not be offended by her inquiry. Having finished her biscuit, she helped herself to a strawberry, enjoying the tender flesh of the fruit. She was fortunate enough to be an omnivore, and had been grateful for this fact on several occasions.❞
Location: Malkuth's Estate, Dining Room Company: Malkuth Thoughts: Strawberries are tasty and Father is civil at the very least. So far so good. Quote: OOC: A little short, but hopefully meaty. Right now, I think a chat with Malkuth will be a good way to acclimate Medusa. Her new Father can definitely be a creepy voyeur later, when she's less nervous about absolutely everything. ^w^

INDENT INDENT Even if Medusa was spewing empty words only to please him, Malkuth liked the consideration. Only the surface-deep things matters: actions, looks, words. The more intimate things like thoughts, feelings, and personality didn't matter in his world. As far as he was concerned, she would fit right in.
INDENT "And you have much time to do that," he commented after she had expressed her interest in exploring the property, be that interest real or only for show. They could get acquainted with the house today. He would compile a list of the necessities for the girls for his errandboy to fetch. Then he would have to judge tomorrow whether they were behaved enough to go out or if would simply have someone else fetch some clothes for them until they knew what was acceptable behaviour and what wasn't. Unfortunately, shopping for a girl was never easy; each had their own style which did not always flatter them best. Finding a happy median between the two was a challenge he hoped he would not encounter.
INDENT "I did," Malkuth answered. He did not at first see any reason for her question (because of course he did it well, and even if he didn't he would not tolerate complaints), though upon a second of thought assumed it must be hard to believe that a person such as he seemed could function normally. He added with a subtle note of humor, "Though I had the food delivered. I will be honest; I am not fond of the kitchen. Making tea is as far as I will venture."
INDENT Yes - impress her with his capability while also admitting a fault. Appear humble yet not inept. Add a note of lightheartedness to his otherwise serious demeanor. That would be a good image to project. To emphasize his last statement he lifted his teacup carefully and sipped from it. It was about half full, he felt, almost symbolic of his so-called shortcomings. His words were a success; she seemed impressed and expressed her appreciation despite his shortcomings. Just like an actor spewing their lines, Medusa then offered to do the preparation for tea at another time. Malkuth let a light smile grace his lips and responded with his delightment evident, "I would enjoy that, dear Medusa... very much so. If you would like, I can have my favorite chef come and teach you a few things. In fact, I can arrange lessons in most anything you may be interested in. Does that sound like something you would like?"
INDENT What an excellent way to transition the conversation on to education! He knew it was only a matter of time before he would bring his two girls to the collector's society meeting. Having just a pretty face was nice, but having a pretty face that was talented was even better. Being competitive, Malkuth would not stand for being inferior to anyone. What better way to flaunt the talent of his precious children than through the stomachs of men? Music was also a good approach and he hoped at least one of them had an interest in that, too.

Medusa "Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under't" ❝ INDENTMedusa reached out and placed a couple more strawberries and an eclair on her plate as she waited for her Father's answer. When he explained that he had prepared the spread of delicious sweets and perfectly brewed tea, she was pleasantly surprised. Few were the masters who would do such things for their slaves.
"Oh! Well I must say, the selection is lovely. I appreciate the time you spent preparing this for us, even if you did not make the food yourself." She hesitated for a moment. Should she? Yes. "If you would like, I could prepare refreshments for a high tea another day." She smiled. So what if he couldn't see? She was eager to prove to him that she was worth his time and money, and the opportunity to experience High Tea again properly was one she would pounce upon, and contribute to as much as possible. She paid rapt attention to her Father as he answered her, his voice smooth. She was elated when he smiled, delight evident in his tone. "I would enjoy that, dear Medusa... very much so. If you would like, I can have my favorite chef come and teach you a few things. In fact, I can arrange lessons in most anything you may be interested in. Does that sound like something you would like?"
At the offer, Medusa found herself briefly at a loss for words. An opportunity to learn and refine new skills? She could barely contain her joy at the thought. "I would love that Father!" she replied the moment she regained her voice. "My skills in the kitchen are rudimentary at best, so the chance to expand my knowledge would be exceedingly welcome." She beamed. Soon, she would be able to make the finest sweets and refreshments, ones that even her Father could enjoy. The thought was one that excited her. She would make him proud!
When Malkuth confirmed that her lessons would start within the week, she was over the moon. After thanking him, her excitement evident in her voice, they sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, during which Medusa poured her Father another cup of tea. When she had set the pot back down, she decided to pose another question- one that might indeed be important. "By the way Father, do you need to know which room I chose?" She asked because she hadn't actually told him which room she had selected for herself, and he would likely need to know in the future. She brought her teacup to her lips as she waited for his answer, enjoying the scent of the warm beverage before taking a dainty sip.❞
Location: Malkuth's Estate, Dining Room Company: Malkuth Thoughts: This is almost too good to be true! Quote: OOC: Aaaaand a post! I'm thinking that once she discovers the piano she will approach Malkuth about lessons. At the moment I'm just sticking to the interest in cooking. Also, question. How is Medusa supposed to know he's wearing a wedding ring if he has gloves on? owo

INDENT The exuberance that seemed to radiate from Medusa warmed Malkuth's otherwise icy aura. She was, in a way, childish, though did well to contain herself at appropriate times. Furthermore, she emulated (he assumed it was emulation, anyway) his somewhat contrived and deliberating manner of speech like a child imitating their parent. He found it somewhat endearing.
INDENT "Exceedingly welcome," Malkuth repeated, with his charming smile worn so readily on his lips. "Excellent. Then I will arrange for your lessons to start within the week."
INDENT Of course, that meant having to make a phone call. And there was only one phone in the whole house - an classic rotary phone, located upstairs locked away in his office away from the children. That was a matter for later, but not too later or he would forget. That was the consequence of being older, wasn't it? Hearing the tea pot be poured so close indicated that she had probably refilled his cup. He said nothing to indicate his pleasure or displeasure with her action; instead, he merely lifted it to his lips to sip at for a bit before putting it down. He hadn't eaten any of the little cakes, biscuits, or sandwiches laid out yet, but was contemplating it. How many hours would it be until dinner, again? That, too, was ordered from a fine establishment and would be delivered around six. It was about two now. But spoiling his dinner wasn't his main concern. No; Malkuth the paranoid neutoric was more concerned with how he would look. If he dropped anything or smeared anything on his face, how would that seem? He couldn't see it to clean it up, obviously, unless it was something large and he felt it. Would the showing or being imperfect, of being an ordinary human with ordinary flaws, of being vulnerable, be appropriate given his audience? It would only help in this situation, wouldn't it? Medusa was young in mind and she took well to the parent-child relationship model, even if she had only been around for a few hours. It would be little more than bonding, wouldn't it? She had already surrendered whatever power she had to him so he could afford to initiate it. It would only help. Yes. It was a win-win situation. It couldn't go wrong. He was never wrong. The most difficult part would be to find and pick something.
INDENT "By the way Father, do you need to know which room I chose?"
INDENT "It could help, yes," Malkuth replied. He carefully removed one glove - his right - revealing soft, fair hands that had never seen a day of hard labor. Each nail was smooth and free of blemishes and filed into the same round shape. But what was more interesting was the plain, pale gold band around his ring finger so obvious and visible as his fingers glided over the surface of the table until he found a plate. His fingers crept onto the surface of the plate until they bumped into something light yet solid. Picking it up, he identified it as a scone and brought it closer to him, though waited to finally take a bite. "Once you both get settled in, you may redecorate your rooms. But first, getting you both some clothes and toiletries is more important, isn't it?"
INDENT He finally took a modestly-sized bite. It was lightly sweet with bits of berries embedded in it, just as the bakery usually made them. It was not a disappointment, as expected.

Medusa "Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under't" ❝ INDENT"It could help, yes," Medusa took another sip of her tea, watching her Father over the rim of the delicate porcelain as he answered her question. She was under the impression that he was not yet done speaking, so continued to hold her cup and saucer lightly about chest level as he removed a glove and reached across the table towards the food. The glint of metal on his soft hand caught her attention, and she found herself surprised to see a simple golden band on his ring finger. This only added to the intriguing persona Malkuth impressed upon the younger of his daughters. Her gentle golden eyes were trained on his every movement as he gently plucked a scone from the plate he had come across, before finishing his thoughts on her choice of room. "Once you both get settled in, you may redecorate your rooms. But first, getting you both some clothes and toiletries is more important, isn't it?" The girl smiled at this, lips carefully closed over her rather ghastly fangs. After being trained out of it by a strict master who found them unsightly, she had stopped smiling wide enough to show her teeth. She could express happiness, or joy, or any other such emotion in different ways- one did not need to smile. "Of course Father," she agreed amiably. "Such as it is, I have chosen the middle bedroom. It seems very comfortable, and is more suited to my needs than the one to its left." She said nothing of the room to the right, or how Zephiria had claimed it as a matter of course. She was not bitter, and would not endeavour to get her new sister in trouble, especially over something so petty as rooming arrangements. Father had just said she would later be able to alter hers if she so wished, so any feud would be petty, and pointless.
Taking another sip of her tea, Medusa allowed herself time to contemplate whether it would be rude to ask about the gold band on his finger. Deciding that he would simply decline to answer if he did not wish to, she set her cup and saucer back down on the table and folded her hands in her lap, shifting slightly in her seat to face Malkuth properly. "That is a lovely ring Father," she intoned, careful of her phrasing. Unsure how to continue, she let the topic rest at that, leaving it to Malkuth to continue or dismiss the conversation, watching him carefully for any obvious sign that this was not a subject she should have touched on, even lightly, an apology poised ready on her lips.❞
Location: Malkuth's Estate, Dining Room Company: Malkuth Thoughts: Is he married, or divorced, or... something else entirely? Quote: OOC: Sorry for the wait, been a lil sick. I'm not crazy about it, but its what I can come up with. If either of you can think of a way to continue that inquiry about the ring, please tell me, cause I couldn't think of a way Medusa would say it.

INDENT When he had pulled his daring stunt with the scone, he was not able to detect any noise or movement to denote a reaction. But the keeping the flow of the conversation was far more important than poking the snake for responses. The middle room was her answer, and Malkuth pictured the aforementioned room in his mind. Nice wooden furniture with plenty of draperies, curtains, a plush carpet, and an abundance of light sources. He did not make assumptions on which of the two remaining rooms were Zephiria's; he would find that out later, surely.
INDENT "That is a lovely ring Father."
INDENT That was an unexpected thing to take note of. Unexpected as it was, her comment was not unwelcome. The comment may have lacked the obvious form of a question but it was an inquiry nonetheless. His answer to her unspoken prodding was just as smooth. "Yes, it is, isn't it? Simple, but sometimes there is elegance in simplicity. My late wife had a simple solitaire. We matched well."
INDENT The idle chitchat, sparse as it was, eventually wound down when steps were finally heard coming down the stairs. It could only be one other person, whom joined them. The three did not spend much more time together; soon, Malkuth excused himself to (in his words) "make some calls to arrange for Medusa's lessons." Zephiria questioned him what the lessons, but he had only mentioned them as a way to excuse himself from the table politely - not to bring up an old topic - and so he curtly repeated that he had something to do. He left the two girls to their own designs, confident that they would be able to entertain themselves exploring the grounds. His house was ornate but truly it was a pretty modest size; the real glory of the estate was the size of the property and the downright lavish greenery and gardens.
INDENT At five sharp, dinner was delivered from town by the chef himself, followed hours later by an errand-boy with the very basics for the girls: toiletries, an assortment of styles and colors or very fine undergarments, and also silk sleepwear in assorted colors in styles. Day one was to become familiar and day two would be to relax, was Malkuth's unspoken plan, and relaxation would be marked by permission to allow the girls to lounge about in comfortable sleepwear (if they wished), even after some more suitable clothes would be delivered.
INDENT On day three (in actuality, only the second full day at the house), the master of the house informed Medusa at breakfast that her lessons would start. The chef had made breakfast in the kitchen today and, Malkuth explained, he was still in there. Lessons would begin as soon as she had finished breakfast and changed her clothes and washed up. The naga's eagerness was obvious in her hurry to eat, get ready, then slither on down to the kitchen. This left Zephiria and Malkuth alone for the remainder of the breakfast. By the time they parted ways, he had formed an opinion of her - and it wasn't the same kind of fondness he felt for Medusa. The zizz had too many questions and, in his opinion, seemed a bit moody. He decided to take a walk through the gardens and Zephiria decided to come along. He didn't mind, of course, as long as she was fully dressed in something presentable (just in case some rapscallion managed to get into his property or they wandered too close to the fences). She joined him for a stroll down the flora-lined pathway to the pond gardens, then around the lake and past the pool. She inquired about the pool - particularly if they would have swimwear. He agreed that they could pick out something nice from some designer catalogues he had, but politely informed her that swimming or spending time by the poolside was not something he would likely do. They eventually wandered back to the house and they parted ways until Medusa announced that she had made tea and the table was set and ready. Down he came from his office, finding his usual chair and sitting down. Once all three of them were sitting (the professional chef, of course, was to stay in the kitchen and not join them unless to serve them), Medusa excitedly distributed a little of everything to her master. After tasting one thing and admitting politely that he liked it, the girl couldn't help herself from prattling on about the lesson and how much she enjoyed it.
INDENT It was certainly endearing. Though Zephiria may not have thought as such, Malkuth allowed the naga her moment of bubbling pleasure and excitement.

Medusa "Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under't" ❝ INDENT Medusa managed to keep her demeanour that of one who is only slightly interested in the topic at hand, despite the way her curiosity piqued. "I'm sorry for your loss, father," she replied quietly, hanging her head. "I'm sure I would have liked her very much, had I ever had the opportunity to make her acquaintance." The conversation eventually wound down, and Medusa was scrambling for new subjects of conversation when steps sounded on the stairs. When her older sister joined them, Medusa smiled warmly at her and poured her a fresh cup of tea. The time where the family sat together was short, as Malkuth soon excused himself, leaving the two girls in the dining room. "What lessons?" Zephiria demanded of her. As Medusa explained, the older girl grew distant, until Medusa quietly trailed off, and eventually excused herself to begin her exploration of the house and grounds. She spent much of her time before dinner in the library, though she did venture outside for a few hours to see the gardens in all their glory. By dinner, she was excited to explore further, and shared as much with her new family, chattering excitedly about this and that. Throughout the meal, Zephiria was silent. That evening, Medusa slept comfortably. She was beginning to dare to hope that she would be happy here. That evening, their father presented them with temporary wardrobes, as well as other essentials. Medusa allowed Zephiria to have first pick, and was left with less than half the clothes. Without a word she took them, and tried them on. Only a few things suited her, but she was happy none-the-less. The clothes that she found were distasteful, or discoloured she returned to the boy, with a quiet thanks.
The next day the girls were allowed to relax as they saw fit. In a comfortable shirt with a mandarin collar and billowing sleeves, Medusa took up where she had left off exploring the day before. She again spent much of her day in the library, sometimes moving to the ballroom to idly poke at piano keys, otherwise scanning the many books, and occasionally pulling one down from the shelf to skim. Soon, she had a small pile of books, which she started reading that afternoon.
On the third day in the house, Medusa started her lessons. As soon as she was done breakfast she slithered hurriedly upstairs to change into a closely fitting shirt that would not get in her way. When she went down to the kitchen, she chef greeted her politely, handed her an apron, and began the lesson. At the end of the lesson, Medusa sought out her family, and excitedly informed them that tea had been prepared for them in the dining room. The three sat around the table and Medusa served her father a small sample of all the things she had learned to make. She watched him anxiously for his consensos, too excited to realize she hadn't served her sister as well, like she usually would have. When he commented that he liked the taste, Medusa beamed excitedly and began to talk about how she had made the snack, and all the things she had learned. She made sure to express how very grateful she was. Zephiria said nothing for a long time. Finally, she cut in. "Medusa, if Father Malkuth will permit it, would you like to go for a walk with me?" She smiled in a way that made Medusa nervous, but with her Father's permission there was no way she could refuse. So, with a nervous smile of her own, she agreed and rose from her seat, leaving some last grateful comments with Malkuth on her way out of the room. She and Zephiria walked for a while, past the first few ponds until they reached the last one before the pools. There Zephiria turned on her.
As her sister accused her of kissing up to their father to make her look bad, amongst other behaviours, Medusa quailed. She cried that it was not her intent, but Zephiria would not be calmed, nor would she listen. When she slapped Medusa as she tried to explain that she had never meant to offend anyone, especially her new family, one of Medusa's snakes lunged out and bit her. Terrified, and not wanting further discord to ensue, she backed away fearfully before turning and fleeing. Before she knew it, the Zizz was upon her, swooping down and scratching the arms she raised to protect herself. Medusa screamed in shock, pain and terror, as her sister continued to mob her, racing towards the house. "Please, no, I can't control them, please!" she cried, but her pleas fell on deaf ears as Zephiria laughed.❞

Its a little... off from how I would like to write it, but I've been taking a while getting to this, and I really just wanted to get it posted. The post I would have otherwise written would have been too in-depth, and I feel I would have put words in Zephiria's mouth, so... here it is.
