"Alright, children, so this will be your second singing lesson and just to start off with we will go with the basics alright?" She asked as ten children sat around her, three boys and the rest girls "sing along with me, you all know this, you learnt it at your last lesson, doe a deer a female deer, rei a drop of golden sun..." she said in perfect pitch as she continued but the children...well, work was needed but then this WAS their only second lesson. After they had finished she smiled at them "good, now, you now have a good grasp on the basics so lets put a word to every note shall we? Like this" she said as she started singing some random song she came up with off the top her her head, each word matching each note as the children watched on.

User Image Goldrieal stretched his wings as he waled, a scowl on his face. There was nothing specifically wrong in that moment, the scowl was habitual. It lived on his face and far be it from him to render the expression homeless, especially when it had served him so well for so long. He heard music of a sort and his ears pricked forward. He found himself following it, even as he realized that it was A Capella singing, and some of the voices were not particularly pleasant. Like children. Lovely. He did not much care for foals. Messy sticky noisy beasts. He was happy to have no recollection of ever having been one himself. Ugh. Foul things.

He came to a stop in front of the group, just behind the adult who was teaching them, scowling at the small mewling masses. This close he could make out her voice, separating it from theirs. Hers was lovely and made him want to join in, theirs were painfully discordant. He disliked undisciplined music, and his expression said as much clearly to the foals he was observing. He never bothered to hide his disgust or contempt.

The children was just starting to sing along...sort of, some picked up the random song in a heartbeat but others still may need to hear it once more but either way, whatever they were doing, whether it was just humming to try and pick it up or sort of singing or whatever, they shut up as they saw the new comer and some even shied away "children, what's wrong?" She asked as she looked at them until she finally saw, moments later, where they were looking and she turned around. "Oh, hello, I'm sorry but did we disturb you?" She asked, she had picked a place that seemed secluded, away from those who may wish to not have their ear drums insulted by the children's singing but obviously she was wrong, this place wasn't as secluded as one may have thought "if you want I could always take this lesson elsewhere" she said as the foals just sat and watched, waiting for their teacher to resume the class.

He sneered at her. "I'm not sure why you're bothering. Most of these voices don't have the raw talent to ever be anything short of painful, no matter how hard you or they work, so why try? Your voice is marvelous, almost as splendid as my own; however, you will ruin your ear, assailing it consistently with such drivel. If you care at ll for your own music, desist working with this incompetent group. People of middling skill should be the ones to teach those of little to no skill, those who have actual talent shouldn't waste it on those who can never match their greatness." he gave all the foals a dirty look of utter contempt. Look to your own ear, improve your musical pallet. Then, perhaps with work, one day, your voice might almost be a match for my own." One corner of his mouth turned up in what would almost be a smile on anypony else, but was most certainly a smirk or similar on his cold visage, "Perhaps."

"And if I listened to ever nay sayer that came across me when I was starting out I wouldn't be where I am today" she said as she defended her class "i had no talent either, believe me, I was the worst possible singer you could ever come across, I couldn't hold a note, my pitch was terrible, and to actually even sing a song like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star would of sounded better from nails going down a blackboard and every pony I came across basically told my mother that I should just give up, that I wouldn't become a singer, my vocal teacher himself even told my mother that. I wasn't going to give in and listen to them, I wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of being right, no one starts out being the best at something they have to work at it" she said as she turned her back toward her class "and some may not end up great singers but they will at least be able to hold a note and keep to being pitch perfect and besides, it is meant to be a FUN class, these children are here because they WANT to be, because they wish to have fun and learn something different, it is their second class, I am not expecting every single one of these children to walk away a professional singer but if they have had fun in my class and have learnt something from it then that is fine by me."

Kalliope turned back to face him and sat in front of her students and whilst she wasn't one for being rude this guy was REALLY pissing her off but she has children behind her and she couldn't lose her temper in front of them which meant not saying anything that would make her look like a horrible adult "besides that, I actually LOVE teaching them, these darling little foals wanting so much to learn, it is just as much fun for me as it is for them and they bring so much love and energy and warmth to each lesson I just can't wait to be around them. They each are special in their own way and if singing doesn't happen to be a talent of one of them then so be it, I will stop him or her before going further but I can also offer them lessons in different instruments if that is another way they wish to try having a musical hobby, I am well taught in several instruments so one may interest them" she said as she stood up and sighed "children" she said as she turned to face them "it is best we finish up for now, I will take you back to your parents and guardians and later on this afternoon we will pick up from where we left off."

One of the little girls stood up and walked over to Kalliope and nuzzled her "it is alright, thank you for taking time out to teach us anyway, we will be looking forward to this afternoon" she said, looking up at Kalliope with a soft smile upon her face.

Kalliope bent down and nuzzled her "you are most welcome, Sunset, I promise this afternoon I will bring you each a little something to make up for this rude mans disturbance" she said as she turned and ushered the kids away, not even bothering to say excuse me or goodbye to the male as she lead them back to their parents.

She thought she knew what real music was. CLEARLY she was mistaken. Well, he would show her, show all of them, then the children would realize how hopeless it was, and she would see what a real talent, a real skill could do.

He closed his eyes halfway as he began to sing. There were no words, at least nothing that could be distinguished and defined, but there was still something haunting about the lyric-less lyrics. Magical music rose behind him, accompanying his voice, accenting it, highlighting it. His notes soared and dipped, a musical feat of acrobatics, bringing to mind, perhaps, a hawk flying for the sheer love of flying.

Something even more amazing happened, as he made his music... his appearance changed. Not his form, or his colors, but his face and his stance, and the effect made him almost look like a different pony. The scowl left his face, as though it had never been, his head tilted back as his notes rose and fell. His half closed eyes shone with pure delight, pure unadulterated joy. His stance relaxed, and he moved with the music, his hooves providing a very light beat, and his wings moving the air in a way that subtly enhanced and altered the waves of sounds issuing from him. He seemed a completely different creature, a being of love and happiness who wanted nothing more than to share his song.

Indeed, as he sang, all thoughts of foals left him, he even forgot the other adult present. His music absorbed him, completely, and he played with it, growing it, expanding it, moving it about like a foal might move about a ball. He was having more fun than he could ever recall having had, not that he wasted any attention on anything so trivial as memory. Given his talent, his music was literally enchanting, and no one was more enchanted by it than Goldrieal himself.

Kalliope couldn't help but stop and the children did also however one outspoken little boy was a little upset more then wanting to actually listen to the music and whilst the others were loving the music and show and, as much as she hated to admit it, he WAS good but then again he forgot one thing, music was meant to be FUN not just something to show off to people to show how good you are and before she could stop the little boy, having been too caught up with the music, he marched right up to the other and just sat there, poking the other with a hoof till he decided to stop the display.

"Excuse me!" He said in a rather annoyed voice "yo! Gramps! Stop with the show off display!" He said once more "I wish to point something out to you!"

Goldrieal had lost himself in the music, oblivious to the others. He was enraptured by the simple joy of just.. creating music, of dancing with the melodies.

At least, he was lost to the outside world... until he was poked by the foal. The music stopped with a discordant and strident screech. The sneer returned, and all traces of joy or happiness left him. Once again his stance was guarded, wings lifted threateningly.

He glared hatefully at the foal as he stepped back. "Do not soil me with your grubby hooves, you pathetic little being. I did not give you permission to address me, and even had I, your lack of manners when speaking to an elder is appalling. There are ponies out there far less nice than I, ponies only to eager to gobble up rude little foals, or spit fry them for the fun of it. Irritate not any pony, for you never know your better. Clearly."

The child rolled his eyes "and considering what an a** you are being I think I would rather be spit fired any daya and not only that you are telling me I am being rude!? Someone needs to learn what that word really means because I am not the only one being rude when it comes to you and I" he said as he looked up at him "but what I wish to point out to you is that we are all here because we WANT to be here, Miss Kalliope is making this fun, she is teaching us at our own speed, not making things hard etc. Music is meant to be FUN not just pointing out how obviously more superior you are to a bunch of children when of course you would be! We LOVE being around Miss Kalliope, she treats us with kindness and respect and doesn't make us seem we are but children to her, she treats us as an equal and even if it wasn't music lessons she would be just fun to be around in general.

You may be able to pull off a display of music but what you lack is kindness, manners, compassion and enjoyment for others which, in the end, makes your music show ugly just like you are, Miss Kalliope, in your opinion, may not be as great as you but to us she is far better then you will EVER be and her music will ALWAYS be a lot more prettier then yours will be as well!" He said as he walked back to the dragon and the rest of the kids.

Kalliope couldn't help but smile, a tear in her eye, she loved these children so much and Mistral just proved how much the children loved her! Sure his flashy show got the children to watch but at the end of the day she was just shown how much they cared about her, regardless of some flashy show and sometimes she just needed to know that "come children, someones ego needs to be deflated and it is unhealthy for you to be around him and it" she said as she ushered away the children once more.

(so maybe this needs to be non-rp'ed after all sweatdrop I forgot what a jerk he can be. Sorry about that.)

He bristled with rage at the gall of the youth. He wanted to teach the little one a lesson he would not soon forget, a lesson that involved hard hooves and a soft rear end. The child left before he could decide how exactly to deliver said kick, and the adult took all the youths off with her. Good riddance to bad rubbish. What a horrid encounter with a bunch of irreverent snot nosed brats. If he ever had foals of his own, they would be polite and respectful! No mistake!

Fuming, he stalked off in the opposite direction, to find a place to be alone. Apparently, he was the only pony who was halfway decent company.
