For the first time in what might have been her entire life, Eanah was truly happy. She remained wary, of course—as an instrument of battle she knew no other way to be—but when she was by herself as she was today, Thren winging his way through the thermals high in the sky, she found she could forget the fighting, at least for a little while.
She had somehow made her way to the very edge of Obsidian City, an area she usually only passed through while headed somewhere else. The buildings here were shorter than she was used to, but what they lacked in height they made up for in variety. Eanah was struck with a sudden thought, shaking her head at how girly it was.
This was the perfect place to buy a gift for Leyn.
Rolling her eyes at her wasteful frivolity, the mage scanned the area for a suitable store, her attention caught by what looked like a blacksmith's shop. Interesting. Leyn was no warrior, but perhaps they had a... prettier weapon. Something ceremonial.
She sent her khehora a mental request to stay outside, then lightly tapped on the door.
"Hello?"

"Ah.... the door!" Castor perked up at the small taps on the door. He made sure to put the little broom he had been sweeping with just a moment ago in the cabinet where it belonged before quickly pacing towards the door. Opening the handle with his small hands he looked up at the women in the doorway, murmuring pretty before speaking up a bit more. "Hello miss..." he trailed off looking over at the khehora before going back to the woman in front of him, "My uncle Julius who runs the shop is out right now, but I'm allowed to show customers what we have in stock if you want... he should be back in a few minutes."
The little blacksmith's shop interior is quaint, it gives off a very lived in feeling from the creaking on the floor as Castor walks back into the building to the old display cases showing a variety of practical and decorative weapons of all shapes and sizes. He leaves the door open behind him assuming she would wish to come in. "Oh... ummm... uncle Julius just started carrying things like scarves and capes as well... you already have a lovely cape though." He says with a big wide smile looking back at the female Oblivionite. "Do you know what sort of thing you're looking for miss, or would you like to look around a bit?"

She was expecting some burly brute littered with burn scars, so when a polite young man answered her knock instead, Eanah was caught slightly off guard.
"Yes, that would be all right," she said, following the boy inside with a genial smile. Her gaze went directly to the shiner, more useless daggers, but she kept her mental attention on the child even before she turned away from the weapons to look at him properly.
"I'm not entirely certain what I'm looking for, in all honesty. I've never held a sword in my life," she replied with a chuckle. "Maybe you could help me find a gift for my friend? And I'd be happy to look at any clothing you might have as well. It seems we have the same taste." Excellent taste, she might have added, had she not felt herself slipping into terribly vain territory. It wasn't often she recognized she was doing it, but when she did, well, it was rather embarrassing.
"I'm Eanah, by the way. It's very nice to meet you."

"My name is Castor, it's a pleasure to meet you miss Eanah." He said with a little smile and a bow to the lady. She seems like a nice enough lady, with very nice clothing, he noted before taking in her request. With haste he moved behind the display cases and opens three of them with a key behind the counter. "Father makes me practice with wooden clubs still..." Castor spoke as he moved four of the display boxes out from the display cases, "so I've only held swords in the shop so far, but I know a lot about all of the things we carry I promise." A childish smile spreads across his face as he looks over the counter at Eanah.
With a little motion he points to the knives in the first display box he took out."We have a few different types of knives if you're looking for small weapons. The first is the dirk, a one sided blade mostly used for thrusting forward, it's okay for self defense and we have some prettier ones as well... or you could go with a more traditional dagger. It's a two sided blade for stabbing and like the dirk some of them are also quite pretty." There are an assortment of knives in the box of various lengths, some quite elegant looking, and others with a bare-bones practical style.
Then with another little motion he points to the second box filled with thin swords."We have many types of swords but my uncle just started making these half a year ago... they are called rapiers." He a little smile he picked one up out of the case and unsheathed it, it's hilt elegantly shaped and it's blade long and thin. "The hilt on them is most always decorative, there are a few practical ones but it makes for a pretty gift and a nice weapon as well. It's mostly for thrusting, but you can cut with it as well."
He set the sword down again in the display box and pointed to the last box of swords. "We also have a few normal types of swords, with both two sided and one sided blades, decorative and practical."
Castor walks over to the fourth display box and smiles his childish smile as he starts to spread out various different scarves, capes, and dresses of different colors and fabrics over the counter for Eanah to peruse through. Taking out a list of the colors of the items just in case she was interested in it. "I love these ones the most, when I get older uncle Julius has promised to help me learn to sew. That way I can make nice clothing like these ones myself for people." He says smiling a nice big smile as he smooths the fabric out.

Eanah watched Castor attentively as he explained his uncle's wares in detail. So many blades to choose from! She supposed the need for such a variety served a similar purpose to choosing the appropriate spells to use in a fight. After all, you wouldn't cut your steak with a broadsword. Even after he had outlined the purposes of all of the weapons, however, she still found herself drawn to the smaller ones.
"I think a dagger would be best." But which to pick? She couldn't see anything in the way of color, except for some glimmers she sometimes thought she picked up from dragon souls, but Leyn could. She didn't want to leave with anything he might not like. "Something with a bit of metalwork and maybe one or two stones that match each other." If she stuck to one color, it was less likely to clash, or so she thought.
The mage turned her attention to the clothing next, carefully running her fingers over the fabric. "These are very well made," she said with a nod. "A dress, perhaps, in... dark blue." These words were mostly to herself as she pondered something she'd heard once about the color of the sky.
"Yes, dark blue." She smiled. "After the dagger."

Smerdle You're probably able to tell I really like looking up weapons and stuff. xD; Examples of the weapons if you'd like to look at them. o 3ob Ear Dagger 1 2 Parrying Dagger 1 Stiletto Dagger 1 "Ah alright!..." He smiled a bit at the response to the dress, and ran his gaze over the daggers. He placed the display boxes with the other sorts of weapons back under the display glass as he pondered which daggers to show. After a minute or so he had decided on the three that would probably appeal the most to her and took them out of the dagger's display case and set them on the counter. "We don't have too many dagger's that are very heavy on metalwork, but these ones are nice, and two of them have stones." He spoke slowly as he picked up the first weapon lightly holding it out for her to see. "This is called an ear dagger... though I'm not too sure why, it's so round at the end of the handle. Regardless though..." He turned the small so the small intricate metalwork on the handle was visible. "It has nice little designs on it, and the two rounded ends at the bottom of the grip have..." he quickly checked the tag on the bottom to be sure of the color, "green jewels on them. This knife is for stabbing, and is decently practical for how it looks."Castor picked up the second dagger in his hand and turned it in front of her so she could see all of the curves and the work on the grip and hand guards, checking the tag so he wouldn't be caught unaware again. "This is a parrying dagger, and is made to do exactly what it says. It's made to parry other weapons like knives and swords and the little curves and notches in the blade help to catch the opponent's sword in addition to looking nice. You can also use it to cut or slash as well." He let out a warm smile and a nod before continuing, "The little pommel at the end also has a red stone for a bit of decoration."He set it down before picking up the last little weapon he had pulled out. "This is a stiletto knife, the type of heel on shoes is named after these. It's a weapon for stabbing or thrusting, not cutting, and while the design is simple, it looks elegant even without a stone." He set the last dagger down before turning around and getting out the different fabrics in the dark blue drawer for after she had decided on the weapon.

She watched with interest as the daggers were presented, finally able to see for herself how so many smiths stayed in business. While it was true that the boy had only shown her three different sorts, they were as different as Oblivionites and Orderites.
Eanah examined the stiletto first, admiring its destructive potential, but she quickly dismissed it. She intended for this to be more of a decorative gift than a functional one, but that didn't mean it should be entirely useless in its wielder's hands. She honestly couldn't see Leyn ever forcefully prodding anything more dangerous than a ham.
The parrying dagger was gorgeous, and she ran her vacant gaze over it reverently, imagining it at her own hip rather than Leyn's. "This one is very beautiful," she commented. "Not well suited for who I have in mind, but perhaps I will return for it someday myself."
Moving on, she finally got back to the first weapon Castor had showed her. The ear dagger. Compared to the delicate curves of the parrying blade, and the deadly simplicity of the stiletto it was almost ordinary, but something about it struck the mage anyway. The grip was striking while still retaining its functionality, and its conventional blade was better suited to slicing than puncturing. In addition, its jewel was green. Leyn had once told her his hair was that shade.
She shook her head faintly when she realized she was smiling at a weapon, then turned back to Castor as she gestured at the dagger she had chosen. "May I?"

Smerdle It's fine biggrin I've been keeping busy. I've got a decent chunk of the requirements for getting a growth done for him now. Gotta do some hunts and stuff first though. Short reply for this one. "Alright then, uncle Julius would probably be proud to keep it for you for a while. He can always put other things in the display box." He said with a little nod before noticing her smile at the ear dagger. "Of course." He said with a nice smile as he pushed it fowards toward her on the counter.
