Rin kept promising over and over with no results. If she was anything, it was a woman of her word. And a b***h. Okay, both of those. But, mostly a woman of her word.

She finally got up early enough that there was no excuse to keep putting it off, not even trying to catch a few more hours as she was properly awake and so going to make herself sick trying to go back to bed.

She got dressed and headed across Deus to the kitchen and set to work immediately. Several slices of bread in no time housed every kind of meat and cheese she could find. All accompanied with a mixture of condiments and spice to create the perfect tang and Fritos. Yes, Fritos.

The sandwich came out larger than she expected, but that's okay. She still managed to find room on the plate for a packet of crisps, a candy bar, and a can of soda from the vending machines. She took pause. She carefully trimmed off the crust before splitting the sandwich in two large triangles of goodness.

Satisfied by her offering, she finally headed back to the dorms. So much effort, he'd better appreciate it.

She arrived at Otto's door and knocked to an almost musical beat.

The loud music and loud movies were paused when Rin had come along. Otto was nursing a headache due to an over consumption of Southern Comfort, despite the warning Rep had given him about hydrating.

He rose slowly from his nap, his dream journal hanging listlessly from his hand hanging from the couch. He'd not even bothered to go to his own bed. He feared it would still smell like Nevada, or at least remind him of her more.

The knock was finally answered with a dishevelled and ghastly looking teenager peeking out the door, bloodshot eyes eyeing Rin wearily. Uncertainly. Then to the meal she held. She'd finally made good on her promise, after all.

"Oh..." He took a moment to let the realization set in, before stepping aside to let her in. "C'mon in..." He murmured tiredly.

Rin's good bouncy mood was shot dead at the sight of the teen. What the ******** happened? He looked like that kid from old yeller... She sidestepped the door and slid inside. She looked around his room in absolute dead silence. Was she stunned or scared shitless? It was hard to tell when she was just so... unnaturally quiet. She looked back at Otto and placed the plate between them. She wanted to ask, buuuut.

Otto stared back, his gaze falling to the sandwich for a moment and then back at her. He wanted to eat it. He hadn't eaten anything decent in a long while. But...

"Why're ya starin' at me?" He asked in a hoarse voice.

Rin looked around at the mess nearby and then back at Otto... and was frowning deeply. "I... don't know where to set this down." That wasn't the real issue here.

"Island's free..." He muttered, pointing to the counter in the kitchen area. It was free of debris, as his mess had been contained to the couch.

The couch. It was littered with DVD cases, chip crumbs and a few bottles of Southern Comfort. He hadn't bothered using a glass, cutting the middle man and drinking it straight from the source. Piles of blankets made a nest he'd settled since Nevada's death. Tissue boxes scattered across the coffee table, snotty tissues piled around the floor where he'd sat.

Rin gave the couch a wide berth as she made her way over to set the plate down. That did not stop her from staring, however. It was like a car wreck over there and she was simply a passerby who was compelled take it all in. She did not want to know why there were balled up tissues all over the floor especially.

She looked back to Otto again. He didn't look like he'd been enjoying anything lately, but it was so hard to tell with men sometimes. Still... she decided to go out on a limb here. "You okay?"

Otto looked at Rin tiredly, shaking his head softly. "No." He replied honestly, "M'not okay."

He figured it best to fill her in.

"Nevada... my girlfriend... she was killed. She died."

Rin went completely silent as she stared at Otto. She had no idea how to respond to that. None at all. Any time she tried to kick her brain and implore it for assistance it shuddered and stopped again. She gave up and simply hung her head and shuffled at him with arm outstretched clearly offering a hug attack.

It felt awkward. Rin was more of his playful buddy. Someone to tease and make fun of. That's what they were. This was heavy. This wasn't what she signed up for, he was sure. One thing he found mildly amusing in an otherwise terrible way, was her offer of a hug.

A hug from a one armed woman.

Otto stepped forward, hesitant. He could tell this wasn't her specialty. Honestly it wasn't his either. He just happened to have cuddly friends who filled that void for him. He hugged her anyway.

"You suck at hugs, yanno. Grow an arm." He grumbled into her shoulder.

Rin gave him a pretty tight squeeze for having only one arm.

"I will later," a promise that never would be fulfilled. "Other s**t is more important right now." She relaxed the squeeze so he could at least breathe. It was hard, what the hell do you say to someone who just lost someone so special? It's a pain she can't even begin to grasp.

She still couldn't help but notice his stench. Especially this close. "Have you been drinking?"
PostPosted: Thu Apr 17, 2014 5:55 pm

He'd lied. She hugged good. Just as firmly and strong as any good hugger would.

"Yes?" He affirmed uncertainly, as if it was a question. "Yes."

"You smell horrible," she decided to be honest. "This whole place does."
Despite it she still hasn't let him go.

"Do you remember how to use soap?" Was that a serious question? She looked pretty serious.

Otto scoffed.

"I know how to shower. I just haven't bothered." Not since the last time he'd been told to, anyway. "I don't gotta clean up if I don't wanna. And I don't wanna."

Rin cracked a little smile, it was alright Otto. You don't have to explain yourself. "I'm not here to nag you but when you do 'wanna', I'd be more than glad to help."

She looked again at the mess that was going to be the source of many nightmares for a while and sighed painfully at it. "What about food?"
