◆ Pyromancy: Harry's preferred choice of combat magic and his strongest form of magic. He can conjure up fire from as little as lighting a candle to as big as an entire firestorm with enough power to burn down an entire city block.
◆ Kinetomancy: Another one of Harry's preferred choice of combat magic. Usually applied as pure raw force that he can use as either a spell or as residual energy that he can store in objects to be released at once, most commonly his rings. He can conjure up enough power to knock a 16 wheeler off its wheels.
◆ Other forms of Magic: Includes Aeromancy, control over wind and air, Hydromancy, control over water and ice, Alchemy, the brewing of potions, Vulcanomancy, control over earth, Thaumaturgy, creating links or tracking spells, even some forms of Necromancy, control over the dead, and other forms.
◆ Soulfire: An ability given to him by the Archangel Uriel, it allows him to strengthen all of his spells to almost angelic power using his soul as a fuel source. But if he uses it excessively, it could deplete his soul to the point where it could possibly kill him.
◆ Winter Knight Mantle: As the Mortal Champion of the Winter Court and Queen Mab's personal attack dog, Harry is granted with enhanced abilities such as speed, strength, tolerance to pain, and adds an extra umph to his magic, especially Cyromancy, or the control over ice specifically. But it also changes Harry mentally wise, making him more aggressive and savage (and horny, snicker snicker) because the Mantle stems from feral instinct

Harry is described to be a sarcastic, smart-a**, chivalrous pig and all of those traits are true. He often lets his mouth run before thinking which gets him into most of the trouble he does get into, and he cannot stand seeing women in distress and will go out of his way to help her in what ever way he can. He is also loyal to the bone, willing to do anything for friends and family, including dying for them. And he is stubborn as hell and is willing to back up anything he strongly believes in even if it means dying in the process.

Harry Dresden is a wizard who works as a private investigator of sorts in Chicago (he's in the phone book, the only listing under "Wizards"), dealing with paranormal crimes and consulting for the Chicago Police Department. He is named after three different stage magicians — Harry Houdini, Harry Blackstone, Sr., and David Copperfield. This name was given to him by his father, Malcolm Dresden, a stage magician himself, who raised Harry while still performing his magic show all across the country. The stories are told from Harry's point of view in a hardboiled style.
