 She really had failed to learn not to travel too far from home, a thought that briefly skittered across her mind as she pranced around the edge of a lake she'd visited before. Teagan was hoping to catch sight of another soq here. Someone she could play with. Or tease. Hopefully Noxious wouldn't be here. Otherwise she'd have to kick him again. Or maybe they could go treasure hunting together? That would have been interesting.
But today wasn't that day and the nixquilicorn sniffed around to find out if anyone else that was similar to her lived around here. It was so exciting to know there were others beside her family! And some were bigger than she was! Something that irked her a little, but at the same time fascinated her.
"Anybodies out there!" She called, standing near the waters edge and looking at her reflection. Her nose wrinkled and she stuck her tongue out at herself looking up again. "Hellooooo?" Maybe there wasn't anyone around this time.

 Sonny had been throwing pebbles into the lake for maybe fifteen minutes now. It was all she could do that wasn't bugging her dad, scaring ducks, bugging her mom, scaring fish, splashing around and scaring EVERYTHING that way, or hopelessly try to learn how to fly on her own.
Now that Daddy was just ignoring her with big heavy sighs, she was back to trying to figure out this whole flying deal. She sure had wings, and she sure could flap them, but...no idea how to get airborne. Her mom was too afraid to fly, so that was right out.
And her parents didn't have any friends. Honestly Sonny didn't know how they lived. So far she had met only one other foal, and hadn't seen any since. Sometimes her older brother visited, but despite how much she begged, he wouldn't stay around full-time.
She was so bored. So, so bored. If she could fly, no one could stop her from going wherever she wanted! Yeah!
One more pebble plopped into the water. Standing up straighter, she shook her rump. She had a good feeling this time. She could do this. Sonny backed up, then started trotting towards a rock overlooking the lake. It was also her favorite launching point...er...diving board. Both, really. If she failed one thing, the other was sure to work out!
Her wings out, and picking up speed the best she could on her wobbly legs, Sonny ran up the rock, and jumped, flapping all the while.
She didn't see the other foal until her arc was ending. "Uhhhhhhhcannonba-?" S P L A S H

There was quite the pout forming on the little foals face. She had really been hoping to find someone out here. But maybe they moved around? Didn't call one place home like she did? The Grail was, admittedly, much bigger than this lake. But this was still someone's home, right?!
Teagan sat her little booty down on the ground, looking down into the water. She stuck her tongue out at her reflection, getting ready to make one more shout out-
And squealed as a mini wall of water came crashing all around her. The nixquilicorn was back up on her feet and shaking vigoriously as her ears perked up to full attention and eyes widened to figure what had just happened. "Whoa... " That had been so cool! And looked like so much fun! There were some cliffs along the ocean side, but it was highly advised not to dive from them. Not that she still hadn't considered it... Backing up a few steps, Teagan launched her little body right into the water to see who had jumped in.
Blinking under the water she let out a burst of bubbles as an excited sound tried to come out. But failed. Kicking back up to the surface, she waited just long enough for the poor other soul to take a breath... "Holy crow! Tha' was totally awesome!"

There were too many limbs and not enough coordination. Her tail was lashing this way and that, her legs were paddling furiously, and her wings were flapping in a way that hindered more than helped. Sonny's efforts to go faster only made her take longer. That just made her push harder. Her heart was pounding, and never in her life had she wanted to get out of the water so badly!
It was one thing to fail at flying again- she was used to that. Failure was a part of life, like Dad had told her. But she knew she would get it one day. She just had to keep trying! It was just like bugging her family to do anything. Just pick at it long and hard enough, and things would go her way! Flying was like that, right?
She was pushing so hard to break the surface to see more of the blur that flashed by her eyes as she crashed down. It looked like some...ball of black. Maybe some other colors, but mostly a black mush. It sure hadn't been there before.
Then a little black face popped up in the waterline above her before disappearing again. So much intrigue!
After an endless fight with the water around her, Sonny rose her head over the water, shaking her hair out of her face. She turned upon hearing the little nixiecorn wig out. The kelpi-wind inhaled, blinked, exhaled, then... "Oh man, you really are another foal! You're so teeny and cute! And you can SWIM? Do you have- you DO have a fishy tail too! Are you a kelpi? And you have a HORN! That's awesome! Where did you come from are you moving in or something? It's been SO BORING since Rion left oh MAN." She took in another breath and "I'm Sonny! What's your name?"

The tiny filly could hardly wait for the other foal to breach the surface of the water. She was much bigger than the nixquilcorn, but still small herself. "O'course I am!" She giggled, letting her body float as her tail lazily moved back and forth to keep her in place. "Yer a foal too, aren't ya?" Teagan asked, just to be sure she was right. And then the other foal started in on the questions, much like Teagan herself.
"I ain't that teeny... am I?" She had never really considered it, since her whole family was about the same size. Though Eoin and her dad didn't have legs like she and Lorcan had. "Heck ya I cans swim! I love it." A pause. "Can't ya swim too?" The little foal tilted her head a little only to giggle and flip her tail up above the water so it could be seen easier. "A kelpi?" Teagan wrinkled her nose at the word. "What's a kelpi?" Oh! Oh oh was that what the small stallion had been?! That she met here before?
"You have wings! Thas cool! Ooooh my horn! I can do a neat trick with it!" Well, sort of. She was still working on it. "Can you fly? Do all kelpi's have wings? No way! I lives in the ocean with the Grails. Buuuuut you coulds totally follow the waterways up to my home!" That would be so much fun to have a friend come visit! "You could come and visit! Or I can come visit too!"
Finally the little nixquilicorn took a breath, tiny chest puffing up with the big gulp of air. "Nice to meet ya, Sonny! I'm Teagan!"
