Vanadinite was glad that this terrible nightmare of a trip was over. Help was coming and the vicious pokemon that had been attacking them had been cured of whatever evil scheme or poison had befallen them and where now rather friendly. It seemed that the now docile pokemon wanted to join up with the trainers that had helped them. Vana knew instantly which one she would take, and quickly scooped up the Torchic with the long tail feathers before anyone else could. After all it was a torchic, and an extremely adorable one at that! Just look at those tail feathers. Vana cooed at the side of them such a cute birdy and it was the only one that didn’t attack them which made her the perfect choice for Vana’s team.
The long tailed torchic was a bit surprised when she was suddenly scooped up and squished next to another torchic. She cheeped at the girl, who had been one of the ones she had nibbled at trying to lead them to the cure. Said cheep caused the girl to fawn over her some more and the female torchic decided that the girl was an acceptable partner and that she could stick with this girl and her other torchic.
Keahi looked at the new bird and let out a chirp of greeting. He was glad that this new companion had not been one of the ones to attack the trainers. He would have had to have kept a close eye on her and he didn’t want to upset Vana with infighting.
The desert torchick looked over the male that had greeted her as best she could with them both being squished in the arms of a girl; well to be honest they weren’t really being squished. He was a rather handsome male, had he been a female she might have been a bit jealous of how pretty he was. she greeted back regally.
Keahi looked back to the other torchic, she was pretty but he didn’t spend to long focusing on her looks he wanted to find out more about his new team mate. He asked her.
The female tilted her head at the question. She asked hoping he would clarify his statement a it.
He explained to her.
She stated as she thought over what she had been told, in the desert they hadn’t really had names. It was rare for them to talk other than growls and warning and when they did they usually called each other by their species name. Having a name all to oneself was strange idea. She responded.
She didn’t have a name? That saddened the male bird and his feathers drooped for a moment. He chirped cheerfully.

It wasn’t long before the rescue ship arrived and Vana took out a pokeball which she tapped on the female torchick. The bird offered no resistance to being captured and Vana quickly boarded. She hummed to herself cheerfully as they were transported back to Katarina. Once she had excited the vehicle Vana waved and said her good byes to all the friends she had made and skipped off to her hotel room. Once there she set Keahi down and grabbed some food for him out of the cabinets and set a plate of food down along with a bowl of water and released the other torchic before fleeing into the shower. She was relived to finely be able to change her cloths.
Keahi watched the other bird for a moment before heading over to the dishes and taking a drink, the cool water was nice but the food was even better, they had managed to gather a good amount in the desert but they had still ben rationing.
The female watched what was happening curiously, before walking over to the food dish and sniffing the food. After a moment she nibbled daintily on a piece. She ate a few more pieces before heading over to the water dish. Life with these two didn’t seem like it would be bad.
Vana came out of the shower in her clean cloths and flopped onto the floor next to her birds. “I should think of a name for you shouldn’t I?” She asked with a giggle to the newest member of her little group. She grabbed a book that was nearby and flipped through the pages, she was looking for a cool name, something that was fiery but pretty! “Oh this one’s pretty, What do you think about being called Houri?” She asked the bird. “It means flames”
The bird now dubbed Houri nodded, the name sounded good to her, it was pretty and to her it seemed to suit her. Today was an interesting day, time travel, a new home and a name. It was a start of a new life.
