The welcome table was a picture of boredom, at the moment. Amarus was leaning her head on her arms, trying not to drool on herself or doze off. In front of her there was a plate of spookies, followed by a stack of pamphlets she had mostly folded into origami shapes, and thirdly there was a cardboard box with only a few less trinkets than when she had started. The cardboard box was bejewelled. Bedazzled. Whatever. Those little plastic looking fake gems that a ghoul would put on things to make them particularly scary.
"If I was king, mmm mm mmmmm," she was humming to herself, her silver eyes dull with boredom. She looked up as someone else caught her attention. New? she thought, and straightened up in her chair. "Hey," she addressed them, "you should come over here. So we don't have to yell across the common room."
Yes. Excellent greeting.

He had been told to go to the Ghost Dormitories by the receptionist once his paper work was finished. Spiridon fiddled with his moonstone pendant, continously touching and wiggling it as he walked around. The moon eyed ghost was, well that was to say, incredibly nervous and spent most of his walk dodging the other students and trying to be incredibly small. Hard to do when you were grey, with blue vein like things running through your skin and giant, giant mirror like eyes.
And barely looked like you were wearing much of, well, anything. Part of him really wished the dragons had given him something more... contrasting than his current little... dress thing. The cloak and scarfy bit helped, some, but it really was just a dress. Not that he minded, but it certainly was giving him oddly looks.
He found himself in the common room of the dorms and looked around a little. Well, it was a dorm common room. Complete with a welcome table and a bored looking ghost ghoul behind it.
Who wanted his attention. Spiridon blinked and creeped over to her.
"Ah... h-hi... I w-was told to, um, g-go to the Gh-ghost Dorms...?" He fiddled with his little stone, eyes shifting around the table and no where near actually on the ghoul's face. He did notice the spookies though. And the shiny cardboard box.
He stared for a little while at the cardboard box, at the shininess of it, and seemed to reach out to touch it. Then his awareness of what he was doing snapped back into place and Spiridon quickly retracted his hand and arm and focused on the ghoul's nose instead.
It wasn't shiny but it would suffice.

Amarus had two thoughts as the ghost walked in. As he creeped over and seemed to stutter just addressing her, she said: "You look like you could use something to calm you down," with a twisted half-smile. She shouldn't corrupt the youth, though. And her second thought was Enzo: pidge, his voice would go. And he'd tell her not to give it away.
Amarus had to hold the smile in place, but in a second after that, she didn't bother. It was replaced with one of her characteristic mirror-blank expressiones. She pushed the plate of spookies just a fraction closer. "Would you like one? It is a greeting spookie. I am Amarus, Lotus Eater. I am one of your RAs, here," she said. She tapped the stack of pamphlets. "This pamphlet has advice from other students, as well as a way to find any of your Resident Assistants when you need them. I am afraid I do not have an eyePhone or any way to get ahold of me like that, but I am around," she said.
Cryptic.
"And on top of that, you should select a trinket from the cardboard box of welcoming," she gave him permission to, in fact, not only touch the box but also rifle through it. And take something. It was mostly stuff she'd gotten in The Collection, a sort of ghostly-favoured scrapyard full of trinkets and things that ghosts might collect, often feeling strong connections to the objects or just, okay, liking them.
That was where she'd found her Black Opal Lupia, Malachi.

If Spiridon does pick something out of the box, you have two choices! You can either make that trinket any trinket you would like, that she might reasonably have found ( The Collection is often a place that other ghosts like, because objects might feel familiar to them, and that's where she got it all ), or you can roll 1d10 and check for what you got in the spoilers o uo if you roll 1d10, please just leave your minis sn in case it is minis related!
1. It's a piece of coal. This is not a trinket. Ripoff. Also it's very heavy and dirty but if you don't take it, it will surely hurt her feelings. 2. A black muscle shirt with a sentence in white block letters that makes no sense: Have kitten seen this is spiders. How is this... a decoration? 3. A lamp shaped like a ghoul's leg. 4. An orb with a pretty floral pattern. 5. String lights in the shape of stars. 6. A cameo-backed mirror. 7. A Red Lantern. 8. A snowglobe with an evil Sandy Claws depicted inside. 9. An orb with a coral colour scheme. 10. Something ... bit your fingers?! It's a creature, living in the box!
He could take one of the shinies?! He could touch the shiny box? Oh happy day, happy day! Spiridon ate one of the spookies, nibbling it slowly like a mouse. It was very good, and he quite enjoyed it. He would have to find a stash of them later and eat more of them. Or perhaps learn how to make them himself. Then he too could give them out and make friends. Maybe.
He listened quietly, taking a pamphlet and finishing his spookie. Why yes he would riffle though the box that was giving him the eye of "touch me Spiridon, touch me~". His thin fingers dropped the moonstone back to his chest and he inched the box closer to him. It was so shiny, so very shiny. But she had said he could take a trinket, not the whole box. He placed his hands inside of it and searched for something that called to him.
Which was more like he grabbed the first thing he touched. He pulled it out of the box and stared at the leg lamp. Spiridon blinked a few times. It was rather fitting, if he thought about it. He himself was a walking lamp, and here he was holding a leg lamp. The irony was not lost on Spiridon.
"It is... a la-lamp, co-correct?" he asked Amarus, just in case it was not, in fact, a lamp and an actual ghoul leg.

It seemed like the new ghosts did not say much. Perhaps they were shell-shocked, or they had poor manners, or she had just become far more talkative in the years she'd been at Amityville. She watched the new ghost rifle through the box, glad that she wouldn't have to keep an entire cardboard box of trinkets.
When he pulled out the leg lamp, she fished under the table for its matching shade, and tossed it to him. "Comes with a free hat," she replied.
"I suspect it was, ah, intended to be a lamp... but I suppose in the end every trinket is what you make it," she replied, lost in thought, tapping her silver-purple lip.
"It has a very lovely curve to it, nice choice illuminated one," she added. "So, did you have any questions about the school? There are many clubs you could join, hobbies to pursue... if you have an interest, you could ask; I can probably point you in the right direction."
She liked to be entertained. It turned out pretending to help was very entertaining.
