Harland was at Lilac's door, knocking gently. He leaned against the frame, thumbs in his belt loops. Wow, it was awful down in the basement. He was grateful he'd arrived early enough to avoid the overflow dorm rooms for new Hunters.

Which meant he'd been sitting around doing nothing for far too long. For some reason, seeing Lilac wake had summoned his mind from the fog it'd been mired in, and he actually wanted to get to work. Not just study, observe, try to acclimate himself.

He actually wanted to put his skills to use. But for now, what was the harm in a nice walk? He stretched while waiting, adjusting his white and gold Deus duster with its Death symbol.

Hearing the knock she smiled and pushed up from the floor she had tried to do yoga on. Only she had forgotten, she wasn't that skilled at yoga or sitting still for to long. Just she needed to do something to pass the time as she adjusted to this way of life. "Cooooming!" Calling out she moved to pick up and pocket her phone before rushing to open the door. Lilac smiled wide in seeing her new friend, it was such a relief to have someone like Harland around. Someone that didn't mind taking a stranger under his wing, and he was sweet to boot!

Had to be something wrong with him, she sighed inwardly to herself admiring the man for a moment before chuckling. "Let's get going! I expect a full tour got it, heh, no skipping on the secret spots!" Slipping out of the dorm, she shut the door behind her and questioned the other a little off subject, "do you by chance have and colored chalk?"

Harland had no concept of yoga, or what it entailed, so it was probably a good thing it hadn't been a group activity. He smiled as he heard Lilac call through the door. As nice as it might be for Lilac to have someone to show her around, Harland was in a remarkably better mood lately. It had sucked to have no real friends to talk to. And she was just so pretty that life seemed a little more beautiful because of it. Which he was probably shortly going to outright tell her. Because Harland was an outright kind of person, when he wasn't totally out of the loop.

"Sure, I'll do my best," he tipped his hat to her, offering the crook of his arm to escort her. "Havin' you around makes Deus a much lovelier place to live," he said, brightly, and then after a pause: "Unless you're stuck in these dungeons, I guess. Pretty dim down here, wouldn't you say?" he asked, grimacing at a wall as they passed by.

Their first stop would definitely be the beach.

"Why, roisin? Anythin' in particular you need it for? I have some prayer flags, maybe I could find some chalk..." he was lost in thought, and added, "See, all kinds of loot washes up on our beach. Now 'n then we comb it to see what we can find. Mostly I end up with seashells and soap. I've got enough soap for ten of me, which isn't the worst curse-- Lord knows I end up covered in enough dirt and sweat," he said, running his free hand through his clean, sunny hair.

That smile, Harland sure was a handsome guy wasn't he. She mused to herself, wondering just how many girls he had to chase away on a daily basis. Grinning at the tip of hat she nodded eagerly, more than ready to get to looking around the place. Sliding easily into the offered arm she beamed up to the man, enjoying the praise even if a little skeptical of it. Was he just this sweet or was it a front, it was the question that stuck in the back of her mind given just the short amount of time they had known one another.

On a shake of head she blushed and patted Harland's arms gently, "you're so sweet you know, how do you keep from having ladies dripping off these guns?" Teasing a bit she shook her head, her pigtails sending up the sweet scent of strawberry from her shampoo. "It's not so bad, I mean..on the bright side its a place to stay! And really it could be worse with bugs or spiders." At the mention of spiders her blue eyes went impossibly wide, showing a clear distaste for them.

"Oh! Well because, " she moved the hand not around Harland's out in front of her and made a half wave, "I want to make a window! And maybe draw a few pictures to liven up the concrete walls." Her blush was back, burning hotly on her face as she realized how childish she likely sounded. But it was really kind of depressing in the bare room with no windows. Glad for the rambling she took the mention as a topic change and laughed, "soap huh, maybe I can help take some off your hands? Is it smelly soap, like good scented?"

He was a lot better at talking to women than he was to men, but even then he was often a little strange. He'd been chastised by Alistaire for sounding too optimistic, after all. Not surprising; Alistaire was as bitter as Harland'd seen on the island. He still tried not to have ill thoughts of the man, though. Harland grinned and shook his head as Lilac patted his arm and asked how he kept ladies away. She smelled really good, not that he would tell her that.

"Not interested in 'em, but even then... kind of a shut in," he said, shaking his head at the comment. And yet he replied as though he was serious about it, as if it was even possible he'd have anyone "dripping" off him. Very weird concept. "There're no bugs?" he asked, surprised. "Well, 's good to hear at least," he said, filing away no spiders in his memory.

"That's a sweet idea, Lilac. I'll help however I can. If we coated the walls with a moisture-barrier primer, maybe we could paint?" He rubbed his chin with his free hand. "Unless you're more of a poster lady, or perhaps glorious wall tapestries for the sleeping beauty?" he joked, looking down with his gunmetal green eyes holding back laughter.

Harland took a deep breath, and let it out slowly, content. "It's... soap? I'll show ye momentarily, of that I'm sure," he said. It was true. He almost always got soap at the beach. The second they arrived, he'd show her.

Not interested in them, of course by now Lilac was wondering what exactly Harland meant by that comment. He was super sweet, clean and good-looking so, going into 'left field' so to speak wouldn't be too hard to see for him. Snap, that was what was wrong right? Lilac blushed at her own thoughts and laughed nervously as if Harland had even heard them.

"Haha sorry I just had to give you a hard time." Grinning brightly she shook her head and nodded in affirmation. "Not any that I've found luckily!" Of course she had found some perfume and that might have helped keep some bugs away with the strong scents.

"Oh! Painting would be nice, " Lilac paused to swat his upper arm gently for the tease but laughed in good nature. "You know....tapestries would be pretty cool." Grinning she peered up to him, sticking her tongue out at the laughing eyes. He had a nice set of eyes on him, ones that rivaled that smile of his in handsomeness.

She rolled her eyes at the typical man response to the soap being soap. Silly boys, they should know by now that all soap wasn't just soap, some was scented, others made your skin dry out faster. Soap was a serious issue, laughing at her own thoughts she snuggled a bit onto Harland's arm as they walked towards the beach. Upon arrival, her blues would widen in surprise it was much more beautiful than she had expected.

He definitely hadn't heard them, and was quite honestly oblivious. He smiled and shrugged one shoulder. If that was her giving him a hard time, he would live. "Well, good; would hate to think of ye stuck in those dingy rooms with an insect infestation," he said, nodding seriously. HE didn't really think of the mental image it might give her.

He liked the idea of painting her room, though, and laughed as she swatted at him, attempting to grab hold of her hand in passing and squeeze it.

Well soap was soap, and he'd be damned if she started to teach him the difference. If it made him clean, that was good enough for him. "Well, this is the soap I was talkin' about," he said, rifling through the sand and pulling forth yet another bar of soap and a seashell. "There. What are its mystical properties, oh all-seeing beauty?" he asked, with a wink.

"...Hnnn, if that happens I'll just come bunk with you!.." She cringed at the mental image, nose wrinkling slightly on a shake of head. Dead serious on the 'threat' too, she would totally invade his room for jinxing her. Grinning for the squeeze to her hand she stuck her tongue out childishly.

Getting along with Harland was easy, she enjoyed his type of company and didn't feel the pressure of having to impress him.

Laughing as he dug into the sand and pulled up some soap and a shell, Lilac beamed wickedly. "The mystical power of cleanliness of course! And to burn your enemies in their eyes. It's also a good aid in the element of, " She paused her speech, throwing the bar she found at Harland before on impulse pouncing the man. "Surprise!" Mid-spring she attempted to catch him off guard and roll him in the sand for being a butt.

"Guess I could sleep on the floor. Like campin'" he said, smiling. He didn't mind the idea of Lilac hiding out in his room, but they were really small rooms. Oh well. He'd slept in way worse places. He'd been through a lot worse, in fact. Most of the Hunters he'd met seemed to have.

Harland smiled so that his nose wrinkled. A "tiger smile." "If ye keep stickin' your tongue out, a roisin, it'll get bitten off," he teased her.

Well, it was good that she'd also managed to get soap, or maybe it would have looked like he was just a creepy guy who dug up soap for fun. He was about to remark that she was apparently a lot darker on the inside than she seemed, when he was legitimately surprised and rolled into the sand. "I don't want to break you! Do ye often tackle guys, luv?" he asked, laughing and trying to wrap an arm around Lilac and squeeze her.

"I'll be cleanin' sand out of my clothes and off my skin for months," he lamented, clearly not really upset. "Good thing I've got so much soap."

In a fit of wild laughter for actually getting Harland rolled she shook happily against him and into the squeeze."Hah, what?" Grinning she rolled her eyes gently, she was a comfortable person and if someone, like Harland made her feel safe physical contact was just natural to her. But at the questioning she did have to wonder if it made him uncomfortable or creeped him out.

Laying against the man she winced an eye shut playfully, " when they deserve it, hah, don't worry about me I'm actually pretty tough! " The last was added with a flex of her puny arm muscle. Despite the look though, Lilac was honestly able to hold her own generally or run fast enough to avoid the issue all together.

Sitting up as best she could, given he let her go, Lilac giggled.Hearing him complain but knowing it wasn't really complaining given the tone. "See, I helped you get rid of soap really!" Her shoulders shook slightly in her own laughter before she glanced back to Harland and smiled warmly,"I could hang out here all day, so you'd better move the tour along before you get stuck here with me and all the sand."

In actuality, Harland was completely comfortable with Lilac, and the physical contact didn't bug him at all. It wasn't like he was interested in banging, so it was just a pleasant sort of contact for him. Besides, she was gorgeous and she smelled nice; he could definitely appreciate that. She was also soft.

And she made him laugh pretty hard. His shoulders shook from it. "Good thing you're here now. Without you, I would've just collected soap for the rest of my life," he said.

"There's nothin' better than this worth seein', I think," he joked, and eased them both to their feet. He held out his elbow again, offering to escort her to their next destination.

"We've got the portals, the lighthouse, the laundry rooms, the cafeteria, the gym... that's about it," he said, his gunmetal green eyes scanning the horizon and the water.

Shutting her eyes she imagined an elder, soap collecting Harland. Then promptly snorted at the image and swatted at him in a brotherly affection. "Oh yeah?" she smiled a touch dreamily as her gaze ran with the mans to meet the water. He might be right, for as much random junk was here the place was breathtaking.

Stood up now she gave a little dance to shake some sand off her dress then happily looped arms with her companion. On a lazy sigh she leaned into his arm and nodded, "laundry rooms will be important to locate along with the cafeteria..." They were important pieces of the puzzle she had misplaced after her initial awakening.

Curiously she inquired as they started off, "do you have many other friends here Harland?" Blushing a touch at the cheeks she added to not seem so nosy, "it's just that, I'd like to meet more of the people around, aside from small talk on twitter hah." Her blues turned up to him hopeful that he'd get the hint, she wanted introductions if he happened to know anyone. Or at least a direction to head in for more social connections, she was a lively girl after all.

Harland nodded and started to take her towards the laundry room, at least.

He was lost in thought, and for once the sunny smile melted away. He didn't look sad, really, just distant. "Been too busy for friends," he lied. Well, half a lie. That wasn't the whole story.

He wasn't good at keeping people around.

"But I bet you and Shiloh'd get along. We're not friends, ye ken, but... he seems a bubbly type who wouldn't give ye any trouble," he said, smile back. Like nothing had happened.

He'd see about getting his friends to meet her. "Or maybe Abbi," he said, with a nod.

The distant look was noted on a small smile, had she said the wrong thing? It was hard to tell, but as they walked along she moved a bit closer for comfort, listening as he spoke out. "that makes sense actually, haha, sorry!" Quick to apologize something about the way he spoke, then mentioned others had her wondering if it was the whole truth but she didn't want to pry.

After all, they were friends now!

"He sounds nice." Smiling at the thought of meeting others she leaned into Harl's as they went, remaining silent as the tour went on, making a mental map.

Content to wander around, Harland showed her whatever locations on Deus he could possibly imagine she'd ever want to go. That said and done, he took her on a brief tour of the halls and told her whatever he knew about his friends. Dorian, Jake, Alistaire, Ian, etc. Just little notes like this is where x lives, he likes to x and finally pausing in front of his door he made sure she knew that was his room, before continuing the campus toor.

Last stop was the cafeteria. "Hungry?" he asked, "Can't quite join you today, though; got to finish some errands," he added, smiling.
