It was February 14th. It was a day of love and romance. It was a day of rebirth and new beginnings. It was a day of mourning for Theodora Argyros and a birthday for Anemone Gray. Anemone only knew half of the story here, giving up all of the memories she had from her previous life in exchange for this new life and memories of the life before her last. It was confusing, to say the least, but Anemone had been excited for the date.
All of the team members had birthdays come and go since she had joined the team. She discovered that birthdays were a day of cake and celebration. ********* had been most adamant about the cake part, enough so that Anemone asked when her own birthday was. No one knew the real answer so the only answer she could be given was the day she arrived as Sailor Psyche. It was February 14th! It was today! Cake was good and everything but it wasn't what Anemone was looking forward to the most. What was most important? Friends? Nope. Most importantly, gifts were given!
The day seemed to be going by so slowly though! Everyone was gone and nothing exciting was happening! Birthdays were suppose to be more exciting, right? Anemone was having her doubts as the morning passed by. She started upstairs until slowly she began to migrate downstairs. She was in the kitchen when she felt like something was watching her. Grey eyes looked around. She opened some cabinets and the fridge and when she didn't find anything she settled down and ate some miscellaneous leftover she found when she checked the fridge.
By the time noon passed by, Anemone threw her arms up into the air and ran into the living room. She fell on the couch and rolled back and forth until once again she felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. She felt like something was watching her again but once again, when she looked around, she was unable to spot anything. She wasn't giving up this time! No, she begun to make the messy living room even messier than normal.
She might have torn the place upside down if it hadn't been for the doorbell. Did Ellie forget her keys? Anemone slowly walked to the door but when she opened it she found an empty porch. She had an absolutely unimpressed expression on her face when something shiny caught her attention. Her expression shifted to curiosity, and she leaned over to pick up the small wrapped box that was sitting on the steps.
Balls of hair swung wildly as both of her hands held the box she'd found, and at the same time the sound of a small squeak could be heard a short distance away. Hmmm? Grey eyes seemed suspicious for a moment before she shrugged her shoulders and went back inside, shutting the door behind her.
She took the package inside, a small skip in her step. The package wasn't wrapped very nicely, and it looked like there was black fur stuck to the bunches of tape that was holding the paper around the box. However, there was a beautifully written name tag attached to the box and it clearly was addressed to her. There were no doubts in her mind that this was for her, and honestly there was no one home to say otherwise!
She wasn't gentle with the unwrapping. Not at all. She ripped it and torn it with haste and vigor until it was gone. With such unwrapping standards, the box was open within moments. Soon enough, Anemone was examining the contents of the box. A small 'oooo' sound escaped her lips as she pulled it into her hands. It was a hair barrette consisting of a large butterfly and several smaller ones around it.
It reminded her of the life before her last, and her life as Sailor Psyche. It reminded her of the life she associated herself with more than her life as Anemone Gray and it brought feelings of warmth across her face as a soft smile. Where had this come from? Who would have thought to get this for her? She didn't know and the box was unidentified.
Well, whatever. It was hers!
And it truly was. If she had looked between the metal plating of the barrette she would have found the letters P S Y C H E. Unfortunately, the painstaking efforts it took to put there went unnoticed. The scribbles in the metal were indecipherable by Anemone's eye.
