It had been a while since she had heard from Goldman. Yet when she did hear from him, it seemed he just had really crappy timing.
At least she wasn't nearly as useless a lump as she had been the previous time. She was still stuck in bed, but she had brought a few things up to her room to keep her occupied. Her small practice engine was there for her to dismantle and repair all to her liking along with a few basic tools to help the job along. The engine itself had long been put out of commission, but didn't make it any less useful to the girl who hated to be stuck without anything to do in her bedroom.
It was then that she heard the knock at her door.
"...okay... who's there?" Nobody was polite enough in her home to knock on a normal basis.

"Just me." Xanthus called. "I thought you'd be up hurling burrito's at people, yet apparently not!" He noted. "What's goin' on?" "I won't stick around if you're not up for it, just wanted to touch base and see if you still wanted those questions answered, and maybe ask you a couple. Well... one. Mostly one." Dive right in, right? No point doing otherwise he guessed.

Ellie didn't seem nearly as out of it as she had the first time he came to her place. With a grin, she shook her head. "...naw... yer fine... and I was up an' runnin' fer a while... but... stuff happened recently... and I had to use my crystal again. So..." with a gesture of her hand, she ran her hand smooth in front of her. "...this again..."
She set her momentary toy to the side of her bed before listening to her guest's words. "...sh*t... I haven't even really thought about any particular questions... I should write some stuff down or somethin' eventually..."
With a half shrug, she added "...but you had a question...? Shoot?"

"Well now we can add 'do you want me to go grab you some take out'... but... yeah. I wanted to know where you came up with Xanthus. Yeah I know, I didn't ask at the time but yeah, the curiosity bug came and bit me."
He spun his signet ring with his thumb so that it faced inward, rubbing his thumb over the grooves on it's symbol.
"Take your time on the questions. As far as I know, I won't be forgetting anything else suddenly."

Ellie might have been in bed and less energetic than her usual self, but she still was pretty sharp. She picked up her little practice engine and held it out to Xanthus. "Take this and screw around with it fer a bit... if ya don't mind humoring me..."
It clearly wasn't the answer to his question, but she paused to wait for him to take the object before she resumed speaking.
And even then, she still didn't give him a solid answer. Instead, she posed another question.
"...you didn't ever wonder how I actually knew your powered name?"
She had known it the moment he had dawned the uniform, which was not a common occurrence in the world of knights.

He took the engine with a raised eyebrow, turning it over and examining pieces as he listened, frowning with concentration that had only a little to do with the actual machine.
It was odd handling it, he couldn't remember how he knew parts of it, but he knew parts, remembered building them when he'd built a machine from parts to ride.
"...No I didn't. Zinkenite called me Realgar when I corrupted." He admitted. "I figured it was something like that. I guess there's more differences between the factions than just the obvious ones."
He glanced up, tapping his ring against the pieces he was holding. "I thought he picked Realgar because it was my name. My title, for a reason. It's a poisonous mineral. They call it the Ruby of Arsenic. Turns to powder in the sun. I looked it up." He added. "Used to be proud of that. But now for all I know he just picked it because it came up in geology and looked vaguely like the trim on my uniform."
He shrugged and glanced back down at the engine. "So are you going to tell me? Or do I have to figure out how to make this work and put it on an go cart first?"

The blonde watched the other blonde screw around with her motor as he explained how the procedures in the Negaverse worked. Their names were assigned to them, which made sense considering what sort of organization the Negaverse was.
"Well... Cats are th'ones who tell a senshi their senshi name... but knights... don't usually have someone t'do that as I recall... no cats... no senshi... no officers assignin' them names."
She paused as he asked about putting the engine in a cart, she shook her head. "Yer not gonna be able t'fix that one... I just use it fer practice..." She leaned closer to the project he fussed with though.
"...memory is an odd thing fer ya, eh? Still able t'figure out what yer doin' there, eh?"

"I don't remember when I learned it, but I remember how to do it. I'd say it was because I built a bike from pieces as a Lieutenant, but then wouldn't I not be able to remember stuff I didn't do in powered form? Like... how to make a bank deposit or... drive a car. But I couldn't remember my old apartment until I looked on my drivers license and I don't remember the names of my parents."
He offered her the practice tool back. "Someone must have assigned them at one point. I swung by Mars. My 'Wonder'." He offered vaguely. "Which brings me back to the point where you still haven't actually answered the question, just hinted around at it a lot. Also for extra weird memory stuff... now I remember having had a horse. I don't have a single memory involving horses except for that one. Pretty sure I don't have one."
Not now anyway. "Babylon said I'd encounter ghosts or 'hallucinations' when he talked about going, but it didn't feel much like a hallucination, not the way I understand them. No shiny pretty colors or sparkly fairies."
He didn't know if the joke would fly, but he didn't know how else to explain it. "It was more like an memory."

"Bellona was a splendid horse... she could run circles around Aque... but Aque wasn't a beast built for speed, but for endurance."
The comment might have seemed stray, but it was significant to the conversation. She leaned back to a normal sitting position, glancing out the window, silent for a bit. As if she was thinking about the way to address the subject at hand.
"...It was a memory... you will get many of them if you return to a place dear to you from the Silver Millenium. Some might seem insignificant at the time, but all of them truly define who a person was during the era of peace."
The way she spoke was far more tranquil than she usually spoke, and even as she turned to face Xanthus again, her gaze seemed slightly different. Gentler than the rough tomboy usually held.
"I remember two lifetimes, Xanthus... the one I lived during the Silver Millenium, and the one I live now."

"...I'm..." He paused, taking in a breath, and then let it out again. "...You're well up on me. I can only remember the last couple years of mine."
It rocked him back on his heels a bit, metaphorically and literally.
Not a hallucination. Real. Not some trick of ancient dust, not a phantom born out of wishful thinking, but something real. Something to grab onto. She'd given him the name because, unlike what Zinkenite had given him.... it was his name. Then and now.
He rocked on his heels again, clearing his throat as he considered things, and this was far less agitated even than the contents of his mind, which left him punching furiously at the empty spaces as though it might jar more loose. Late to what. What had Bellona looked like? How many hands? How did he even know what 'hands' meant?
"I remembered that she was fast." He shared. It was one small lifeline he could tie down. "I heard someone call me from the hall way, they called me Xanthus and said we were going to be late, and I thought that was alright because it was an excuse to race there and back."
He rubbed the back of his neck.
"...********. I can't say I envy you. I do, but I don't... if that makes sense."
Bellona. It came together like engine parts. He didn't know it, but he knew it.

The softness of Ellie's features didn't last for long, and soon enough her words returned to their rougher tone.
"...Yer jus' fortunate in th'fact I was well traveled durin' the Silver Millenium... I met many people... if I had been a recluse, ya wouldn't be any better off than ya were before."
She ran her fingers through her hair, ruffling up the edges a bit before she mentioned something. "....so... this might seem kinda random... but... ya know yer sh*t... I mean, it makes sense... yer previous job was somethin' along the lines of what I do now." No, Ellie Spectre was not a stalker, but she did know a bit on Falco before he turned into Xanthus.
"...It's gonna be hard t'find a job an'sh*t without an ID an'junk like that... but I was wonderin' if you'd wanna work where I work. My boss... well... he's my dad's friend... and he actually knows about this whole senshi thing... he's been kinda cool about it. And we're losin' our only other employee... this guy Phil got a really big scare recently with those weird shade fairies... so he's movin'... I think Hank... could probably pull strings or whatever t'make it work fer you..."
Another subtle fluff of her own hair, she added "...that's if ya don't mind that sorta sh*t..."

Xanthus gave a faintly amused snort as he noted. "Damn, everyone knows more about me than I do. Yeah though, that sounds good. And it wouldn't hurt not to have to play Clark Kent as much... If he's not going to have a problem with it anyway." He noted.
She was right though, not having an ID that matched his new identity made things... a bit more complicated, and there were hassles he hadn't even begun to figure out how he'd solve if they came up.
"Phil's loss is my gain I guess."

"Hank... just knows of it... he's not a part, and I don't want to burden him with too much information, ya know..."
Her boss was still a civilian. He didn't need to know EVERYTHING in the city. He already knew more than many and was still alive.
"...we can talking about whatever if it's just us... but if Hank's around... yer gonna need t'be a bit of Clark Kent."
With her hand, she signaled to Xanthus to give back her little puzzle so she had something to do again. "...Either way, I gotta talk t'Hank first... so it ain't a guaranteed thing yet. I'll let ya know how it goes down though."
