(Shock has permission to RP Joe though he has yet to be fully created. She's seen his sketch <_<...and lives with me so yeah)

The very edges of the city limit...it wasn't all that often that Wily's General found himself way out here, but sometimes it had to be checked too. He wasn't sure -why-...out here there was nothing. Hell, the rebels even stuck to a bit further within the city limits to at least have SOME sense of civilization. Out here was nothing but rubble, and freedom...should anyone choose to make a break for it.

No one ever did.

Still, here he was...out walking along the last bit of rubble belonging to Wily's City and looking out for any movement. He didn't expect any...and yet, there was movement. A bit in the distance he saw one lone helmeted form...looking a bit shifty and heading towards the city edge.

....Huh.

The helmet screamed Sniper, but something was....off about this one. Well, nothing better to do...might as well check it out. Shifting his shield to a more comfortable position, Proto quickly crossed the distance between himself and the other. No need to announce himself, -any- Sniper should be programmed to know who he was.

Joe was nervous. In theory, his newly acquired Sniper helmet would protect him from the bots that patrolled the city limits but one could never be certain until he tested the theory. He tip toed his way to the edges of the city, keeping an eye out for any threats, ready to run should it look like anyone might try to shoot at him. So far so good.

Joe'd seen a few bots from a distance but the one or two that glanced his way seemed to be fooled by his disguise. His confidence growing with every step, Joe strutted up to the line, tail swishing. Perching on a large piece of rubble, he faced into the wind. If he removed the helmet, he was certain the air would smell different here, tinted with the scent of freedom. He reached up to do just that when a flicker of movement caught his eye. Turning around, he came face to face with a strange looking bot. He'd never seen one like this before. Joe froze a moment but then relaxed. There was nothing to worry about. If the Sniper bots couldn't tell he wasn't one of them, what chance did this weird guy from the city limits have of finding out? Dude was probably a hermit assigned to sit out there and kill anyone who crossed the line or something. He probably just came over to find someone to talk to. Joe almost felt sorry for the lonely guy. Almost.

Low level bots. It figured they'd be fooled by something so simple. Joe was lucky in that regard. Joe was not lucky that the next bot to approach him wasn't a hermit. Ahaha...no. Though some days he really wished he were.

No, this was a high ranking bot approaching. Talk? Oh yeah, he wanted to talk. It wasn't anything Joe was going to want to talk about though.

Proto just stood there a moment, looking the other up and down. His tail gave a few irritated swishes side to side before he finally did speak.
"So....do tell me what a Sniper is doing way out here? You all aren't programmed to patrol this far out."

There was a grin crossing the helmeted bot's face. It wasn't a particularly -nice- grin either. It was quite...predatory.

Well crap. This hermit guy seemed pretty well informed and what was with that grin? Man these robot dudes were creepy. Luckily Joe was able to come up with a response before the silence had gotten awkward. "I was er....tracking someone." He grinned beneath the helmet, proud of his quick witted reply.

Oh, this was -rich-.

"Tracking someone you say? Interesting...because I've been patrolling this border and no one has come this way. Except you. Perhaps you lost your target?"

Here Proto leaned closer, nearly visor to visor with the other helmeted Audio.

"Or perhaps you aren't really a Sniper at all. If you -were- a Sniper I believe you would have enough sense to properly address me."

GULP. Oh s**t oh s**t oh s**t. Was his cover blown already??? Properly address him? Was there a secret handshake or something?? Come to think of it, this guy did look a little familiar. "Er...." Joe racked his brain. Oh oh! Maybe this was a rank thing! "Yes, SIR!" he shouted a bit too loudly. "Uh I lost him...which is why I was looking here, sir. I'll uh...go back to my post now?" The sooner he got away from this guy, the better.

You never -had- a cover around Proto Joe. Sorry to inform you.

"That's better...but next time do try to remember you're addressing your -general- in the first place...will you?"
Proto backed away, that grin still plastered on his face.

"As for your post...I'm done out here. So I believe I will accompany you back. Do lead the way, will you? Thanks."

General?? As in THE general?? No wonder the guy looked so familiar. His face was plastered on warning posters all over the rebel base. Joe swallowed hard, the humor of the situation dying as he realized how much trouble he was in if he didn't get away from his new companion. Maybe he'd leave as soon as they got back within the city limits. Surely the "great" general Proto had better things to do than escort Sniper bots to their posts...right?? "Uh...sure," Joe answered hesitantly. Turning, he started back towards the city. He kept an eye on the general, ready to run like hell if he pulled a gun. Of all the bots to run into, why'd it have to be this one??

Pulled a gun? Yeah...his whole arm was a gun. So there was that. But he seemed to be fairly relaxed, even going so far as to slide his shield onto his back rather than carry it. Clearly he didn't see a need to feel threatened. This was, after all, just one little 'Sniper bot'. Right?

Proto walked beside his new friend, tail swishing ever so slightly behind him. Ah, this was the most fun he had in ages. If he was feeling generous he'd let the little guy go...

If only to mess with him later.

"So this target of yours, what did they look like?"

A description? That wasn't too hard! He could just describe that girl he saw last night. No wait. What if the general went looking for her or something and he took all the babes away! Okay bad plan. Well maybe that old guy on TV? No. Being the general of Wily's army, he'd probably recognize a description of Wily if he heard it. The guy seemed pretty sharp. Drawing a blank, Joe described the only other audio that came to mind. Himself! The general couldn't see his face anyway so what harm could it do, right?? "He had spiky brown hair and a sweet motorcycle. Looked like he'd be popular with the ladies."

"...I see. Well, last I checked, being 'popular with the ladies' was not a crime. So what did this target of yours do to earn your attention?"

Nah, Proto had no idea the Audio was describing himself. No one could possibly be that stupid. It was probably just a description of the last random Citizen he had seen today. Whatever, that was fine.

He didn't seem to be looking to leave though. Perhaps the 'great' General Proto didn't have anything else to do today after all.

The "Sniper" nearly tripped on a piece of rubble. Crap he needed a crime too? Well that shouldn't be too hard. Just about anything was a crime nowadays. "He...defaced a picture of Doctor Wily, sir, with a big...uh...curly mustache." Joe suppressed a snicker at the image the lie created. Yeah that would be funny. He'd have to do that sometime.

At this point, Proto actually stopped walking and just turned to stare at the "Sniper". Long. Hard. Stare. And then he actually....laughed.

That had to be good, right?

"...You do know Wily already has a mustache, correct? Though if this target of yours was drawing another mustache on top of the existing mustache...wow. That's not super creative now is it?"
PostPosted: Sat Apr 12, 2014 5:54 pm

Not sure whether to continue or not, Joe momentarily stopped to look back at the commander through his visored helmet. Why was he just staring like that?? It was creepy, man! And then sudden laughter? Okay he could work with that! Joe released his own chuckle. Robots could laugh! Maybe not vital information to the rebellion but already his disguise was gaining him some knowledge about the enemy!

Joe's laughter died as Proto insulted his creativity. Hey! He thought it would look funny! Hmph. Everyone was a critic. "Well there's my post so I'll be going now, sir." He pointed to a street corner and began to walk away, hoping this would be the end of the encounter.

Proto didn't reply. In fact..if Joe turned to look back, he'd see no sign of the General. Perhaps he really -did- have better things to be doing?

Looks like you're in the clear Joe!
