I've done a Nuzlocke on Diamond before, and i'm thinking of doing one on Y.
I'd be scared to lose my starter, no matter who I chose.
I lost my poor Rapidash on diamond crying

I don't want to ruin my work in Y, so I don't think I'll try such a challenge there. I do (however) have a copy of Black and Pearl I've hardly touched... EDIT: 7 character limit? I expected 8 for some reason... Gaklock will be my name then!

Day 1: Get Olav from a box. Meet professor Juniper, and notice she won't take no for an answer. (Work hard to fill her pokédex? Yeah, right!) Meet and capture Willy (level 2) at route 1. Barely survive first encounter with N. (Scary critical hits) Trip over Linda (level 5) when trying on the running shoes for the first time at route 2.

I'm actually interested in reading your journal, but it's set to friends only. So, should I add you or..? emo

I removed the parts of the link I thought was not needed. When I link to a post ID that's already unique, why would I need "mode=view" or "user ID"? The journal linking system in Gaia is silly...

All this looking at Nuzlocke challenges has made me decide to make a set of rules to follow myself in Pokemon Yellow. I'm calling it EZlocke....because it sounds catchy plus it sounds more merciful. Also, I'm going to copy Gakre's idea of recording it in my Gaia journal. Ezlocke first entry, rules.

EZlocke kinda sounds like a low-risk challenge. Especially when you reach the Safari Zone. Then again: Not using the optional rules of banning certain items/pokécenters does allow to lower the risk of losing pokémon in battles through training. Still: Running out of HP should leave you dead, as if you play Fire Emblem or XCOM.

It is. But it's at a higher risk of rule breaking because of how lenient it is, which is kind of the point of Nuzlocke, it's about self discipline. I'm putting temptation where there is temptation to be had. To challenge my own perseverance. To see if I can follow through with the rules I had set for myself to the letter. Plus, I always had trouble with the Safari zone. Nothing ever wanted to stay in the damn ball or kept running....plus that only really works for gens 1 through 3....since I don't think they had safari zones after that.
The whole faint to death time limit was conceived by the idea of that some of the moves in pokemon just don't sound lethal at all. Case points, bubble, lick, and mud shot to name few....unless swampert is throwing it at mach speeds or something.
