The rain pattered against the window of Skirmish Flamenco's stable, now with a little more furniture and a few pictures on the walls, as well as some books and bird feathers she'd found on the ground outside. The filly was bored out of her mind- not for lack of things to do, but because she was feeling really lonely. This living alone business was really hard at times! Could she call up one of her friends? May Day, perhaps? Swinger or one of his wonderful siblings? Maybe she could call the whole family, one at a time!
Except... hold the phone! She didn't have a phone yet. Hrm. Maybe she could just... go over there? Would that be ok? A wave of anxiety hit her, and she busily buried herself in a book to hide from it... wait. Was that... a knock at the door?

"Bling-blong~!" Star Spangled sang as she knocked. She hadn't found a doorbell, which was a pity -- she loved the sound of doorbell chimes, it was like an extra piece of music in one's day! She checked and checked the name again on the stable. It would be pretty embarrassing if she'd gotten the address wrong!
It hadn't taken Moon River too long to secure the tickets to Fourseam Fastball's next start after they'd gotten home. But after giving Star the tickets, Daddy and Mommy kept sitting in the living room talking... not that Star was paying much attention, although Daddy kept laughing while talking about Mom's 'prop-en-city to want to adopt every foal she sees' or something like that.
Star Spangled didn't see what the deal was. If Skirmish needed a place to stay, they had loads of room!
And now she'd get a chance to see a baseball game, which was totally just as important!

"Come in, come in!" Skirmish squeaked, opening the door. She wondered briefly if she was actually psychic; here she'd just been thinking about one of her new friends, and there she stood, eyes a-twinkle.
"Spangle! You came all the way over here in the rain to see me!" she squealed, throwing her hooves around her friend's neck. "Come in, come in! It's not much, but it's dry!"

Star Spangled's smile grew as she registered her new friend's surprise to see her. She let out a laugh and lifted one hoof to path Skirmish, then shook a little rainwater off herself before she came in. It wouldn't do to get Skirmish's place all wet!
"Oh yeah! I had to come and see you today, rainy days are so gloomy without a friend!" She walked in, looking around, her bright eyes still cheerful. "Unless you're like my brother Rhythm, he sleeps right through rainy days... Smooth Swing and Diamond and me will read with Mom and Dad, but Bambino gets so bored he tries to play baseball indoors or start quarrels, and then Mom has to make him stop."
She laughed. "Sorry, I'm rambling! You have such a cute little place! Needs a little decoration, but it's really cozy. I'm glad you were in today. It was really fun meeting you."

"Aww, thanks! It was pretty lonely around here- there's just something really nice about company on a day like today." Skirmish really was just tickled by her visitor- she had to be a perfect hostess to show how pleased she was! Beckoning Star Spangled in, she fished around in a milk crate full of boxes until she found the best cookies. "The place is a work in progress- eventually I'll have, y'know, all the functional furniture I could ever need and maybe some electronics hookups. But it works ok for now. I read a lot- plenty of room for books! And cookies. Want some?"
Atmadja Sorry I poofed for so long!

Star smiled as she clomped further in, looking around herself and then making herself comfortable in her new friend's home. It wasn't like her family's place, no -- but it had its own personality and spoke of Skirmish, which immediately made it even better than its wares.
The filly brightened further, her gold eyes sparkling, when she saw the cookies. "Oh gosh! I'd love some -- and it looks like you know whatcher doing! This place is fun. I'm glad you're not too lonely, though! You know you can come over if you ever wanna, too."

"I really do need to come over- your whole family's pretty great!" Skirmish said as she dug out a few more things. Mismatched coffee cups ("World's Second-Best Dad" and "I <3 Ney Work"), cocoa powder, spoons... a flick of the switch on an electric kettle and bam, you had cocoa going. Handing her friend a mug, she pulled a beanbag up to her coffee table. Most of Skirmish's chairs were beanbags. Much comfier that way.
"So what've you been up to? How's the folks? Your dad on the road this weekend?" One of the few things Skirmish knew about sports was that away games were sometimes really far away.
