“NOOOOOOO GET AWAY FROM ME!”
Umbra shrieked out as he ran through the forest feeling like his poor little legs were going to give out on him. He hadn’t done much traveling and he was afraid he was going to end up getting lost thanks to good old Mr. Shadow. He had a very convincing theory that his shadow was out to eat him. Many times, he had seen his shadow bear it’s fangs at him and sometimes it even told him he was going to be eaten. It made him freak out because his shadow was always there. He never got a break. It would just be they’re laughing at him and telling him he would be a tasty treat someday. He was at a wit’s end with it.
There was only one way he knew of getting away from the shadow.
Water.
He ran, breathing hard and pushing himself as much as he could before finally he found a small pond in a clearing in the woods. He jumped right in and peeked his head up from the water looking around nervously before seeing nothing there. It was gone, but he didn’t want to leave. He swam to the edge of the pond and looked around for it some more. There was nothing there, but then he heard laughter. He eyed the trees seeing them pointing their branches at him and laughing. “Shut up you!” he shouted at them and shook his head wishing they would go away. He had horrible hallucinations. Most of the time they were harmless, but sometimes they would make fun of him.
To everyone else there was nothing there, but to him there was. His shadow and laughing trees weren’t his only problems. It was only the beginning.
