Dalanis was never one to get to far from home. Though as of late he found himself driven from the lakeside. He heard about the hardships, and even had a small glimpse of the fires and drought and flooding. Finally though life was returning to this land. Grass was starting to come in green and the lake was returning to normal. He felt the need to stretch his legs since his wings were useless for flying. He was the only fluttercorn born, but that also meant he was the only one unable to fly.

Still, today that was not going to get him down. He was a ways from the lake, his ears flicked as he took in the sounds around him. He stopped traveling for a short while, only to rest in the heat of the day to warm those cold bones. Cold nights made it hard on him, and even more, he hated the cold with a passion. So, there was nothing like nibbling some fresh grass and soaking in the rays of the sun.

Those wings were almost restless. Twitching and fluttering along his back. Eyes fell closed as he moved just slightly once the grass around him was low to finish filling his stomach.

{no cert for her yet; uncert is here}

Faye fluttered her wings gently as she stood. She was hungry. Being hungry made her more irritable than usual, and that was never a good thing for anyone who crossed her path. Unfortunately, she hadn't seen any prey today, and mere plants were not going to satisfy her this time. She narrowed her eyes and glanced around, searching for movement.

She'd been living on her own for a while now; never really had a family, and couldn't seem to agree with the rules of any herds she'd come across as of yet. But she didn't mind her solitude, because playing nice and minding her manners was always exhausting. She supposed there was probably a Soquili somewhere who she could tolerate for more than a few hours, but she hadn't met him or her yet, and she wasn't looking very hard. Of course, whoever she could tolerate would have to have a thick enough skin to tolerate *her*. It would happen when it happened. Faye was in no hurry to give up any independence, but wasn't opposed to it if the right opportunity presented itself.

Her ears turned as she listened for movement in the undergrowth. Off to her right, there was a faint rustle. She moved in that direction, using her wings to give her extra lift and walk more lightly and silently over the ground. A small hare dashed out in front of her. She used her claws to easily snatch it. Faye smiled to herself. She picked up the rabbit in her mouth and carried it to a nearby field to eat, no longer moving quietly. Her body caused a thump as she dropped onto the ground to eat her catch. The stallion nearby went unnoticed.

Those ears flicked. At first he had not noticed the mare. it was not until the hare let out a squeel that was quickly silenced that he even lifted his head from the grass. Her colors easily stood out across the soft green of the grass.

Eyes scanned the mare for a moment, not moving in any closer. After all, he had his own fare share of dealings with others to know when to be cautious. Still, her wings seemed to easily distract his mind. Outside his family he had never seen another with wings. He knew there was other flutters out there, but being as he was happy staying near the lake none ever floated by.

Those soft eyes watched her ever so closely as his ears flicked up then back. As his eyes drifted he noticed the dead hare and it made him wince. A turning rolled over in his stomach that made him re-swallow his lunch.

The metallic scent of the hare's blood filled her nostrils, made her stomach rumble. She took a bite, reveling in the flavor of meat, pleasure at finally getting a good meal settling her irritation. As she gulped down the hare, a tingling started, giving her the feeling she was being watched. Even if the wind were to shift, she wouldn't be able to smell what it was that watched her, thanks to the flavors in her mouth, but she did not feel threatened. She was more than capable of taking care of herself.

"I know you're there," she called out, not turning or searching for whoever -- or whatever -- was nearby. She bent her head one last time to the ground, snapping up the last morsel of her meal. Her wings flapped quickly, lightning gravity's pull on her body, allowing her to climb easily and gracefully to her feet. Whoever's here is pretty lucky my stomach is full now, she chuckled to herself. And with that thought, she turned in a half-circle, bringing herself face-to-face with a blue and yellow stallion. He had wings similar to her own, although much larger, and seemed to be sprouting some sort of horn from his head. A uni cross, she supposed. She made a mental note to watch out for the horn. You never knew when danger would rear its head, and it was best to be cautious. Carelessness was a shameful reason to sustain injury or death, and she intended to never let it be her downfall. She stood still, watching him, waiting to see what he would do.

Dally folded his ears back when she spoke, so his cover was blown. he was not really hiding it anyways. Thankfully he was a little larger than her being that he was half unicorn. He was one of the few flutter-corns out there, and one of the first at that. He hardly saw fea wings. He had a brother with them, but most were born with their mothers feathers. He lucked out with the horn upon his head.

He stopped in his tracks when she turned to look at him, head lowering as he looked at the blood around her mouth. He did not know until now that some actually ate flesh. He would have to keep an eye out next time he is around a soq. Last thing he needed was to be lunch.

"I did not mean to sneak up on you." He stated reassuringly. His right fore hoof scuffed ever so softly at the ground before him. He could feel his pulse in the back of his throat pounding to the point he had to swallow it back into his chest. That smell was strong even at the bit of distance between them. Her feathers were different, his eyes were drawn to the feathers on her head before drifting down to the claws that nestled in the grass. "I have not seen your kind before, at least half your breed. May I ask what breed gave you those feathers?"
