The lands of the Kawani had ended up looking like a disaster had taken place. Plains that once was full of life and colour, had turned brown, accompanied with dead flora and dried out streams and lakes. The fire had dealt a lot of damage upon its departure. Trees that used to hold birds nests and fruits got burned down to the ground along with wildlife that was too young and too old to flee away from danger. Only those who were common travelers, or even nomads, could witness such an awful gloomy sight.
Not too far away, however, deep within the forest, there was life. The day after the fire still had the heavy musk in the air, but it was slowly being blown away by the strong current of the Westerly wind that passed through.
Within the same forest, there was a young mare in search of something. Kye lifted up her nose and inhaled deeply. There was no need to hide anymore for the air did not sting her eyes. She was being careful not to get noticed by the skin walkers as she sneaked through the forest in search of fresh green plantation to eat. Spring had just came and life will take a while to grow. There was not enough food for everyone and there definitely was not enough game around for the carnivores.
Kye dug her hoof deep into the soil and unearthed a small wild potato. Quickly, she picked it up with her teeth and galloped into a small cold lake. Being in the water would make it harder for predators to track down her scent. She stayed there as she chewed on her potato and looked down at her own reflection in the water.
