HORSEMEN:

Wonderland or not, you all dream the same dream. In it is a shadow. It is saying something to you. Some works. They are unclear.

... A.......... L.....

You see an outline. Snap. Something yellow flashes. Snap. Voices. Bones. Chattering, a hollowed out thunk, more incoherent noises, the crunching of teeth, snap, maggots, hundreds, thousands of them, snap-

- And then you wake up.

You wake up in the Lost Clans reserve, whether you remember it or not. How is a good question, but why is a better one.

The question is immediately answered by the figure sitting casually on a chair where Medea's tent should have been. Just a chair, and a small table. He is shaving a red apple. Maggots are falling out of the apple.

"Make yourself comfortable," he, the Ancient of Death says, and continues shaving the apple. The maggots begin the trickle on the ground. His pocketwatch on the table has stopped moving, or did it never move at all? "I have a small problem. A small one, because it entirely affects me, and but not you. I guess really, I have a large problem that affects me, and you have no problem at all."

Snap. Just a strange noise in the background, like an odd static. He waves one skeletal hand and it passes.

"As I was saying, I need some help. Well, not need. I would like to ask your assistance. Are you familiar well, my job?"

He doesn't wait for an answer.

"First of all, this is a practice that is split between several different factions, and subfactions, and this is where politics come in. Honestly, this is a hassle for me to explain in detail-"

Snap-

-"So let's get to the juicy part." He begins to slice the apples now, and each of them falls disproportionately on the ground, writhing little white pieces. "I would like to explain my job to you in detail, and I don't mean the babysitting part. Or rather, my existence. You see, I'm rather busy these days and unfortunately I'm not doing my job very well, which is where you come in-"

Snap-

- "Well, that's annoying," he smiles all teeth, but it is hard to tell why. "Anyway, Fear is inspired. If you go out and halfheartedlyd slice a Human in half the only Fear you'll probably get the Fear of them forgetting to take their antacid pills before dessert. Terrible business really. As I said, Fear is inspired. You have to remind humans, consistently, repeatedly, what Fear is, and it is only when they are alive that they have the strongest desire to-"

- Snap-

-"I think that's it." The maggots kept on accumulating under the table, a veritable army now. "This is knowledge through practice. Charon has been so kind as to set up a portal. I'm sure most of you find yourself above this sort of work but the reality is the world changes. Everything changes but you. That means one day you will be forgotten. So, figure out how to change yourself and rattle a few Humans here and there and try not to kill anyone. There are six hundred and sixty-six departments that deal with post-Human death traumas and I'm avoiding them." He waves his hand. "That's it. I hope you at least are more terrifying than that one Reaper division that insists on dressing up like mismatched Japanese rock stars , I mean you're horsemen after all."

OOC

ALL HORSEMEN:

- If you came back from Wonderland it has only been a night. You wake up, even for horsemen who didn't go, and immediately encounter the Ancient (formerly horsemen lead) of Death. Write a reaction to the prompt above as you see fit, and then you may break of to discussion PRPS OR engage in the prompt. You may also stay to interact/PRP out more with others and/or quote Zoobey if you'd like to interact with the NPCS (Death and Charon only, Medea is ???? )

- When you are ready to GAIN SOME PRACTICE OF SCARING HUMANS, create a PRP in this subforum. Select ANY location in the Human world, any. New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, wherever you want. Next, have your horsemen go through the portal and arrive there. They'll have no IC choice about it so they might be surprised at the area, it really is an OOC choice that the portal ICly picks up. Describe the setting, just a small segment of it, as you wish. So for New York, maybe they are in an apartment flat, or at a theatre, or wherever really. Make sure it's a smaller group of people though.

- Humans cannot see Horsemen as these are regular Humans, but they can sort of feel your presence. They begin to feel spooked. RP out Human NPCS as they become unsettled. Your goal is to scare them, and really, make them really super scared to the point of fearing death. How your horsemen does it is up to you

- Roll 1d10 as you try to spook a few humans. This is how well you do. If you roll a 1 the Human isn't phased. If you roll a 5, the Human looks about ready to have a heart attack and begins to become panicked. If you roll a 10, the Human screams bloody murder and starts to hysterically try to escape the area to safety. RP it out as you wish. Fear is automatically collected (just all icly) in this case, as you are trying to very specifically manipulate the Humans into being the most scared without killing them. When your Horsemen is satisfied with their results (they can roll as many times as they want and also with others), they can return back to base.

Some spooking ideas:
- Horsemen can influence Humans through ominous whispers, they can manifest insects (famine), or summon shadows under Humans, they just can't physically manifest themselves right now. They can manifest their shadows however, and they can also whisper and talk to Humans.
- Horsemen are also able to push/shove/ slightly hurt their victim (war only), and show brief visions of terrible scenarios (death only). Conquest ones can create illusions, temporarily illusions of terrible situations.
- Be creative have fun, and try your best to envision how your horsemen would ICly approach this scenario! Perhaps they will need this skill again in the future
- You will get x2 RP points for each "scaring" RP you do that goes over 600 words! You can get a max of 10 points this way

Yuri had no intention of making himself comfortable or settling for any sort of relaxed state as he stared at the figure in from of him, something snapping at the edge of his mind, something unintelligible and annoying. His memory was foggy and he didn’t like it, didn’t immediately trust the ancient in front of him even if it was Death, even if it was the veritable leader of his clan. He supposed he ought to have bowed but he instead settled for quiet nonchalance, crushing an escaping maggot under the heel of his boot.

He listened, as it was oft more useful than talking, waiting until Death had finished his appeal before voicing his only concern.

“Would you prefer we work alone, or may we assemble teams?”

Simply because he didn’t blindly trust anyone, especially not ancients who’d been particularly absent, didn’t mean he closed himself to possibilities and the fact was that no matter what he thought, Death was, as it were, a very powerful being, and Yuri quite liked the idea of that, trust or not. It seemed like he’d just returned from the Human World not that long ago, to a home that was nothing at all how he’d remembered it. It would almost be a relief, to return to a place he knew, if he ever admitted he had those sorts of feelings. At the very least, it made Death's proposal easy, of course he could do it, he was an Ashen Soldier of the Death Clan after all.

Lifen had woken up with one heck of a headache.

Everything had seemed so elongated and convoluted - it felt like weeks had passed under her legs, but upon pausing for a moment to catch herself, she realized that it had only been a night. At first, she seriously considered just going back to her bed and curling up in the blankets to make the day go away without issue.

But, that was not how things usually happened, wasn't it. Feeling a little nagged, she slowly pulled herself out of bed, and found herself traversing through the town, almost being pulled forward. She had cut corners a little in her daily set up - a simple dress, a simple hair style, she wasn't trying very hard.

There was another horseman already at the center of town, her eyes drifting to him and her head tilting a little - she had not seen him before, but he seemed to be from the Death Clan. She gave him a soft little silent nod in hellos, trying t award him a soft little smile also, before her attention was stolen by Ancient Death, making her pause. Why did he return? What did he need?

It didn't help that everything he was saying was broken up with a strange painful static, that didn't help her pounding headache. But she got the jist of it - He wanted them to see a different aspect - something that the Ancient did himself.

Fine by it, she would take this opportunity. Maybe it would help with her headache.

The young Alchemist has spent most of the last twenty four hours slumped in bed. Buried beneath pillows and blankets. Not even Reject's humming about the house and getting into the cabinets could have drove her out.

But after a while she felt a strange draw pulling her out of bed. To tidy herself up.

She tried to resist the urge to rush outside before she had a cup of tea. Falair was honestly in no serious rush, though it kept nagging at her like teeth at her ear. When she was finally done then she ventured out. Covering her eyes and squinting into the light, it hurt just a bit.

Soon she made her way to where others seemed to be gathering. A chill ran up her spine as the air vibrated and snapped around her. It was an annoying sound which caused just a tiny bit of pain in her right temple. Reaching into one of the many pockets in her apron she pulled out a black colored root and began to chew on it. Brown eyes draw suddenly to the strange person she had never seen before, or...at least she didn't remember seeing before.

Was Na'ima here in the crowd? Her head swiveled back and forth in search of her big sister. To no avail. At least perhaps for the time being.

When Death spoke she listened carefully. Unsure of just what his motives were, though she wasn't a bit skeptic. His request seemed reasonable enough. To her at least.

But the apples that he was peeling were what really drew her eye. Watching the maggots fall to the ground, wiggling. The pieces of apple doing much the same. How did he do that? Her eyebrows furrowed as she made a loud sucking noise with the root in her mouth, it poking out from the corner of her face mask.

Na had told her briefly about this Death, so perhaps getting too close wasn't a very good idea. But oh man would she have loved to get one of those apples to see if there was anything else it could do. Even the heebies that he gave her didn't effect her curiosity.

No, no time for that. Focus. She smacked the back of her hand then gave it a shake.

Aeron had the same reaction to anything...pretty much. Whether it bothered him or pleased him.

His mouth remained in a firm line, his eyes half lidded. Stoic, Serious. Arms crossed. He moved to watch Death carefully, as it was the leader and founder of his clan. The Death clan. He moved slowly, looking at first for Lan, as he had woken from his dream with her scent and the moments of tea time spent together.

But as he could not find her, he moved to the next conquest horseman he saw, joined by a fellow death clan member.

"Good day Lady Mare," Aeron's voice was deep and low as he respectfully bowed to Lifen and turned to Yuri next. "And fellow brother."

Lan had a ritual, no matter how she woke. Dress, freshen up, then attend. So when she arrived, if a bit late, she was in one of her nice robes, looking as manicured and polished as ever.
At least until she saw Lifen and Aeron. Lifen made her mind think to the dream, and lingering behind the crowd to listen in, it confirmed a few previous things. No more killing, harvesting- Death had called for dominion, and silently Lan wondered what her cousin would say to the invitation.

That was another thing, her mind could focus on more immediate matters. Like the Golden Queen and Wonderland wife- the stallion who she'd spent her time with, going so far as to feel comfortable around him, dream or no.
"Queen." It was said with a chame to it, affection and mirth. It was easier to say hello to Lifen then to- "Aeron." More breathy, a tiny hitch as fingers brushed over his hand when she walked past him. Did he recall a dream shared? Did he think it any less real then the reality of now what was? She dearly hoped so. The memories of him and the small actions within the dream...

The new death horsemen was the recipient of a small bow of her head, headdress chiming slightly. "Soldier?" She made it a question- ranks were harder to see from the ones not of her clan.

Mengyao plus headache equaled not a happy Mengyao.

Not that he was ever really all that charming to start with. But lately he'd been keeping mostly to himself, and it was with a great amount of irritation that he left his dwelling to fetch some water in an attempt to stop the aching in his head. It was only then that he came across a meeting of sorts.

This was unexpected. Mengyao was not in the mood for unexpected.

He sought Lifen out easily among the few Horsemen already milling about and moved towards her with his head held high, his long robes draping elegantly behind him. Tugging a bit at one of his sleeves to bring it down over his gray-stained hands, Mengyao reached out and gently tapped Lifen's shoulder before dropping his arm.

"What has happened?" he asked her and gave the horseman beside her a brief glance before he was deemed relatively harmless, Mengyao's dual colored eyes sliding back towards Lifen, and there was a curious expression on is face, slightly paler than normal. The grey stood out in stark contrast around his eyes.

"Good morning," he added, a little belatedly.

(Lan was given a mildly suspicious look.)

Lan attempted to kick someone lightly because one didn't keep his chosen waiting like some common mare. What if she was stolen?
What if she married another?

Lan did hope her and Lifen might play the little prank on him.

At least a few familiar faces were showing up, making her feel a little better - even if her head ached. It didn't help that not one, but two of the nobles came in, looking as elegant as normal whereas she was being simple. Semantics.

Turning to Lan and another Death Horseman, she gave them a calm look (as well as she could), going to bow down in to a curtsy, returning the introductions. A smile was offered to him, also, figuring she couldn't just blow anyone off due to her disposition.

"Good day, Sir Warrior." She said softly before turning to Lan. "Hello again, my dear Advisor, I see you are as lively as normal. You will have to introduce me to your gentleman caller." She murmured to her, before a light touch of her shoulder made Lifen turn herself a little to look over her shoulder at the taller nobleman found his way to his side, giving her a little look.

"Good morning, Mengyao." She stated softly, going to loop an arm around his, leaning against him a little. She was much too tired for this all. "It has been a long night, I am willing to tell you after maybe a good rest and a tea." She stated quietly to him, before tilting her head to Death, shrugging a bit. "He wishes for us to scare human - instead of killing them." She answered, as a matter of factly.

Aeron might've flushed a bit at the idea of him being a...gentleman caller. As if he was to assume he had any right to call on Lan. But memories of the tea party, and of shared and mutual wants and desires well..

He made a small sounds, moving his face so that it showed his side profile and not his full one.

A small blush even danced on his cheeks if you looked close enough, after the briefest brush of hands with the conquest mare.

"Lady Lan." he returned, tone warming a bit more. "It's good to see you again admist anything but talking trees and dancing teacups." It was a tell of what he knew they shared. Of what they had done.

Lan paled and huffed when Lifen teased. "I- Lifen please." She gave the horsewoman a wave. No, it was nothing like that. How could Lifen even entertain the idea that she might have had a caller or such nonsense.

Aeron's voice made that all seem very petty however, his directness in using her name having her breath catch in her throat for a moment before she relaxed. He was even speaking more warmly to her. She could only respond in kind, a slight gentleness entering her own tone. "And you Aeron. Though, I will miss the ah... tranquility? The certain charm it had."

She wanted to say she'd miss having a place to be along with him, bu that was a bit much.

The last twenty four hours was a blur for the young death guardian, her head throbbing as she rubs at her temples. Keeping her face hidden with her hood, Kasja makes her way towards the other horseman, but keeps a good distance from them at the moment. Being fairly new to what was going on, only to have the worse dream ever.

She wasn't in the mood to really figure out anything at the moment.

Crossing her arms, she glance towards the other horseman just for a moment. The dream was really bugging her, more so because of another horseman.

Lifting her hand, she pinched the bridge of her nose.

Aisa gave a little scoff.

Trying not to kill anyone was like asking Aisa not to breathe. However, if Death was avoiding six hundred sixty six departments, that was understandable. Aisa hated dealing with them in the little times she did but Death had the majority of the responsibility. Aisa, however, was intensely interested in why Death was suddenly so busy. He never asked for help-- if he did, he could have requested Aisa. The very fact that he didn't.. Also, Medea wasn't there.

She sat back, polishing her scythe.

"Young Aisa," he unfurled one bony hand and outstretched just his index finger towards here, "come sit by me won't you. I have so many apples to peel." Suddenly, on top of his table were a lot of apples all a perfect waxy red.

"Perhaps we could use them to make some apple pies." Aisa stepped to where Death was, perching on his arm rest. ".. Several pies from the looks of it." She hadn't seen Death in so long, she acted on the urge to rest her head on Death's shoulder.

Death was like a father to her, after all.
