Restraint was a sibling to patience, one that he could attend easily under the right circumstances. Both were family to discipline. It was unusual to come to a impasse where his own natural inclinations to the three were stretched. The need to 'go easy' for a few nights was maddening.

It was trying with the wounds and hospital advice, and it was all the more trying now as it dragged out from days in to weeks. He couldn't allow a slip or he'd be useless when the night of the Ambush finally came. He was self-restricted to Youma and Wraiths, and it felt like treating symptoms but not the cause. The rain helped.

With the come of spring and slightly warmer weather, the daylight lasted longer, and he had the small balm of a nice view from a tree he sat in- the golden shimmers at lowest horizon that pitched nicely against steel blues and cerulean as the rainclouds gave up their prisoner in the sky to the other side of the world. It would be dark in another hour, and between would be the indistinct witching hour where everything was lineless and distance became uncertain. But the Super Senshi of Garden's attention was drawn swiftly away from contemplation of the weather to the feel of an order aura nearby.

A basic senshi. Not far. He carefully made his way down the branches to the quiet sidewalk. I should check on them.

There were always those days where even careful hunting turned up nothing, but this time it was it was probabally Cybele's fault. Even youma didn't show up too much when the sun was up. It was all right, though. She had time to wait for darkness to fall and the monsters to come out. The park seemed oddly quiet, though. She guessed it was a little wet to be out on a picnic or something, despite the warm weather and breathtaking sunset.

The rain didn't bother her, but the emptiness did after awhile. That was why she turned towards the Order aura as soon as she felt it. Her discussions with other senshi almost never ended up with everyone happy, so she'd started avoiding them when she had an excuse, but right now companionship, networking like she was supposed to, and a way to pass the time seemed like a win-win.

She waved cheerfully when a figure in white came into view and smiled when they got closer. "Hello," she said, figuring she could at least start by making a good impression. "Oh look, we match!" That was one of her go-to casual conversation starters, even when it wasn't that accurate, but in this case they did both have flowers in their hair and flowy clothes with green accents.

Thraen lifted his hand, taking in the toga-like fuku and ribbons of the girl that he approached. He stopped at conversational distance, offering out his hand to her, "So we do...after a fashion, flower woven. I'm Thraen, of Gardens."

"Its been a problem of senshi to be left to sink-or-swim. I felt your aura and thought I should at least introduce myself, see if there was information that I could offer. At least offer that we could scan each other. There is too much left to chance that would be better if just given effort and care."

She curtsied automatically, then shook the offered hand. "Cybele, Senshi of the Hunt." After pausing for a moment, she summoned her phone and scanned the other senshi. "Yeah, that's probably a good idea." The fact that she only had two other contacts in her phone served as a reminder that she needed to do this more.

"Information?" She dismissed her phone with a wave of her hand and looked up at him. "Like the Negaverse is bad, don't let them get to your head, don't let them rip out you soul?" Nobody had treated her like she was new for awhile. She didn't mind, though. It was good that there were senshi out there looking out for the newbies. "Nobody warned me about that last one, but I... figured it out on my own. I've been around for two years, basically, and I've been hunting the Negaverse ever since the first time one of them tried to kill me."

Hoping she'd proven her point, she smiled. "I felt your aura, too, and thought it would be nice to talk with a White Moon Senshi. I'm trying to reconnect with the Court. So, nice to meet you."

She was rather no nonsense, flipping from scanning and conversation as quickly as breathing. The attitude taken in explanation of the war was juvenile, nearing insulting with the way it was thrown in his face as so much busy-body wish-wash, but it earned no more than a lift of one eyebrow.

Until she said the inclusion, moving as swiftly back to politeness and 'customer connections'. The scar across his mouth parted first in a snarl, he teeth bared over the words, "Assumptiveness is not assertiveness and you would do better in learning the difference. Pure may be my starseed, but no part of that Court am I. "

"Count yourself among the dead and dying if you like, and stand beside a throne kept only by a ghost. I have been to the moon and know it for the stone and ivy it is- a pretty graveyard for the past. It can offer archaeology and knowlege but little more. It is no rallying banner. "

"What?" That was her first response. Confusion. She'd been trying so hard to say the right things, at least for now, and the reaction she was getting was still this. Fine. She wouldn't be nice. Her smile suddenly fading, she took a step forward, arms crossed and eyes narrowed. "Take your own advice! You think I don't know all that?"

"I could care less that the Queen's gone, and I haven't met anyone who does. The Princesses are the ones not doing their jobs, but..." she paused, "Well, you seem like you wouldn't want to be a puppet on a string. And... I've never been to space, but the war is here. The Court is alive here!"

She sighed and took half a step back, but didn't look away. "I'm not trying to advertize or anything. I know the Court's a mess. I've almost left a few times. It's just... if you think the White Moon Court's dying... then Order is falling, so many people will literally die. I can't... let that happen." Another sigh. "Am I allowed to say Order, at least?"

"What exists here is no Court, with policies and community. Here are packs of wolves fighting each other as much as anything else. "

"Order is failing, and many lives are lost. Distaste does not dictate being stagnant, though. I do as much as I can to treat the symptoms, even if one set of hands could not of will alone cure the disease. Order we are both, and as a pigeon hole it is acceptable." She has moxie, daring nearer. But for the crossing of her arms. Defensive in a closing off sort of way.

He brought out his own phone with deliberate motions and care, thumbing the sequence and scanning as he spoke, "No needs so plainly stated, I am sorry for interrupting your patrol, Cybele. You can call on me at need or want, I only warn that I stand for executing chaos with proof of murder, breaking them for proof of crime."

" For the rest, if you ever do want to go to the moon, talk to a Mauvian and ask for a pearl. "

He closed his phone and held it up so that the pearl charm and surrounding disk were evident,"It is a detail missing from the Primer on the phone. If you want to be part of a research effort in the aforementioned archaeology, there's some efforts at least between myself and one of the Zodiacs, Aquarius. If you know of any others, I would appreciate the networking."

"If we're lucky and diligent, somewhere on one of our dead worlds, or on the Moon, there are clues about weapons, defenses, our magic, or our enemy. "

Cybele’s eyes shifted to the phone, but her arms remained stubbornly crossed. Nobody got away with insulting her court just by changing the subject, but since neither of them had stormed off yet, she could at least try to engage in some casual conversation. “I know about the moon pearls, but… space just isn’t as much of a priority to me, I guess. I’ll look around for information for you if I ever do end up going, but I don’t have a lot of connections… I’ve been trying to reconnect with the Court because I might not have made the best first impressions.” She glanced back up at his face, watching for a reaction, but she didn’t stop talking. “Ganymede is the one who told me about the pearls, maybe he could help you?”

“Anyway, don’t worry. You didn’t interrupt me.” She began to walk past him, but considering the apparent emptiness of the surrounding area and the fact that Thraen’s words were different from everyone’s, if nothing else, made her pause. “Could you come with me now? Is that okay? It’s probably safer if something does show up…” and we could talk.

She picked a wildflower from the ground and twirled it in her fingers as she asked, with a sudden, pointed lack of interest, “Execution... is that why you don’t get along with the White Moon Court? Do they not like you killing people? I’m not assuming, I’m honestly curious. Like... how is that going for you in general? ”

His expression was a fallen back to impassive neutrality- cold of mirth or anger. Well, we have two things in common then.

"A name is something to go on." Ganymede sounded familiar. One of the eternals at the meeting? He'd need to review his notes and sketches.

He did not move as she initially started by him, turning on heel at her question. "I can. It is not only probable, but assuredly safer to patrol with partner or team than alone. "

"Alone often means you can't call for help."

"It is much on account of my belief in execution that creates division. Most of the White Moon Senshi and the Knights I have met prefer a catch and release policy. They believe in no killing at all, though they've not given me any justifications of it other than it being 'wrong'. I've had a few now use their magic on me, siding beside an enemy before I could deliver a killing blow. Each time they could not or would not articulate reasons. " He took the steps to meet level to her shoulder, in the direction of her chosen travel, falling in step to her pace.

"If you study capital punishment at all, it gives both sides of the debate. Killing at all for any purpose is deemed by many modern sympathizers as morally wrong. They tend to prefer rehabilitation and imprisonment for criminals. Its workable, in an ideal situation. Ideals are so rarely fact. "

"And the senshi have no jails. We have no dedicated service members to rehabilitation. So while they go on hoping night after night that some Chaos servant is going to feel bad about what they are doing out of the goodness of their corruption, it is the populace that pays in starseeds and energy. The rehabilitation of our enemies would be nice."

"But one purified Agent or senshi is not worth the months or years worth of damage to lives they perpetrate. One worth so many....maybe they are all aristokratia at heart, demanding that. I would rather kill the one and save the many. It is a tragedy, but the mechanisms of other ways are not available."

“Thanks.” Cybele offered him a small smile as she saw Thraen walking beside her, but that had faded by the time he had finished talking. When she replied, a hint of an edge had crept back into her voice. “We’re not snobby aristocrats for trying to do what’s right.” She didn’t want to make him leave or anything, but for someone who had gotten so mad at her for making simple assumptions, he seemed to be jumping to some pretty big conclusions.

“I’m with the White Moon and I agree with you, mostly. I don’t want anyone else to get murdered, and the Negaverse… they need to die. They deserve it. But… if some of us don’t see that, or see it, even, and still hold onto their ideals… well, it’s better than being in a heartless Court no better than the them. I just hope not too many people die because of it. We’re still fighting to save lives, though, so that should help.” Hopefully.

“Isn’t logic idealistic, too, sometimes? I’m saying all these things now, but once I could have killed a Negaverser and didn’t. I had her on the ground, her own spear pointed at her… and then I walked away because it felt wrong. That’s the best case scenario, too. Usually I’m lucky to escape with my own life.” She shrugged. “I’m a huntress, I hunt, but for some people trying to talk them out of killing might be just as effective.” She doubted it, but she hated people insulting her court.

Even if she kind of agreed with them.

"You are making my point for me, Cybele. 'for doing what is right'- you say, not hearing the point I made or seeing how it applies to exactly that situation. "

"What is 'right' at the highest levels becomes a matter of priorities to each person. Some might value security over freedom, for example. Truths have been argued for years. But just how a person prioritizes reveals a good deal about their prejudices and beliefs otherwise. "

"It may be assumption to call them aristocracy, oligarchy, or some other form, but the fact is the same. They are putting a higher value and priority on the lives of powered individuals by saying and acting in accordance that their purification is more important than preserving the citizen of Earth. And if they don't feel that way, they refuse to think about or explain some other method behind that particular madness."

"Killing isn't heartless. It can be one of the most heartfelt things that you can do to another living being. There is a difference between execution and murder. One who does the former does not necessarily do the latter. "

“Well, what do you want me to say? I don’t think you’re a murderer, if that’s what you’re implying. As for me, I’m a huntress. I’ll be chasing the darkness, and… next time I won’t hesitate. Trust me, I regret hesitating last time.”

“I honestly don’t know what all of the rest of my court thinks, though. You obviously have us all already shoved into some box, but it’s not really like that. At the very least we’re not all trying to put priority on powered individuals. It’s just harder to… snap someone’s neck or whatever than to hear about another missing person on the news, which is probably good. Killing doesn't have to be heartless, maybe, but it’s not bad to not want to kill, even if it’s for the best. The Negaverse wants to kill. I want people to die, and I think I’m willing to kill, but I don’t want to. I have no idea what anyone else thinks.”

“Purification isn’t something that I’ve heard talked about much, though. If that’s the priority for a lot of people, which... I don't really think it is, and it results in more death overall, it’s probably a bad situation. I know don’t agree with everyone in my Court about this kind of stuff, but I can't do all this alone. I tried. Once I came back to the White Moon, I found it had people worth fighting for.” She shrugged, no longer so defensive. “But if you’re so determined to hate us, then fine.”

His mouth pulled into a scar-crooked line. I don't want you to say anything, I want you to offer proofs and postulates if you disagree, or if you agree to indicate actual understanding. Or to elaborate on points and theories. So much piss in the wind.

Her addition of 'then fine' seemed so pointed and comical as to mean exactly that it wasn't. He mentally waved it aside, in favor of his next point being applied as much to himself as to that phrasing that so handily amounted to dismissal on many levels, "I don't hate the people of the White Moon. I hate the methods. I hate the farce."

" There are fine people that adhere to the corpse, whom I would work with or would wish no harm came to them. Disagreement with an idea does not mean wholesale disregard for the people. One can be apart, and still make alliance with admiration for good causes. "

" As for doing it alone? Being a 'part' of the White Moon or not doesn't change being alone. The Court, such as it isn't, has no part of that. " Camaraderie comes from the scant teams, but that mention of that clarification, or the names of the teams I know, I expect will be as welcome as my initial attempt to help you- annoying and already known.

“Well sorry I didn’t get that you were one of our allies from your initial reaction, but stop acting like we’re dead! You can't say we're a corpse just because we don't kill as many people as you want us to. Even you say we have good people, and good people are what make a good court. I'm not alone now."

She was, in fact, alone, and it was painfully obvious. She knew her arguments were making less and less sense, and were now slipping into outright lies. That was what always happened when she tried to be clever. If she had been talking to a Negaverser, this would have been the point where she would have resorted to violence and tried to pretend the whole conversation had never happened. Her empty fist was clenched at her side and everything, but punching Thraen seemed like a bad idea for multiple reasons. Instead, she hesitated for a few drawn out seconds, exhaled deeply, then said,

"I can't do this."

She broke her staring contest with the ground to look up at him, and when she spoke again, her voice was calmer. "I really am sorry. Now you'll walk away with an even worse opinion of the White Moon, and I'll have another number in my phone that I never use, because I can't even argue for my Court, apparently... especially for opinions that aren't mine. I shouldn't have tried." If they had fought something instead, maybe things would have been better. She was good at fighting.

The little wildflower she'd picked earlier was still in her hand. She held it up. "You can have this. It matches your flowers. Just... Don't judge my Court because of me. Please."

"Derisive, you divulge point or reason from the use of a word of apology. You shouldn't argue or speak to things you do not mean, whether mock-apologies meant as insult or ideals you do not hold whole heart with. " He took the flower, lifting his other hand to his hair- cleanly plucked one of the vibrant blooms that held in check his mane.

"But token you still have of my acceptance. You can still call on me, if you have need or the bravery to do so. We do not need to always get along to come to understanding, Cybele. Nor like each other to understand the value each of us carries. "

"You are a huntress, with your own ways. I can respect that much, as long as you can do the same in return." He offered out the blue, magic-summoned flower to her.
