Roland: The stallion paced impatiently, his eyes darting through the shadows, looking for a hint of the mare. He glanced upwards, noting how high the moon was in the air. It was past the time he'd told her to meet him, and he was sure he was in the right spot. Perhaps she got lost? He frowned, furrowing his brow and grumbling under his breath at losing half the night. He paused in his pacing and considered going to find her.

Kiyoko: The alicorn trotted quickly, yet carefully through the trees. She knew she was late, but she had saw an injured rabbit, of course she had to stop and help it. Worry raced through her, hoping the stallion that was waiting for her wasn't too mad. Getting closer to their meeting spot, she slowed down and started to glance around for him. Spotting a familiar form in the distance, she sighed and made her way over to him. "I'm so sorry for being late."

Roland: He frowned at her as she approached, sighing deeply in annoyance. "I thought you wanted to have a little fun tonight? What kept you?" He tried to maintain his stern continence, but couldn't help but soften a bit as he looked at her. She was so sweet and innocent looking with her blue eyes wide and untarnished by darkness. He had no doubt that the excuse she would give would be full of kindness.

Kiyoko: She came to a stop and lowered her gaze from him when he asked what kept her so long. "Well... there was an injured rabbit. I couldn't just leave it behind hurt like that." She knew he wasn't really the caring sort, but her heartstrings were always tugged by injured things. It was how the two first met after all, when she foolishly thought his eyes were injured.

Roland: Much as he wanted to be irritated, he couldn't help the hint of a smile pulling at the corners of his mouth. He thought back with fondness on the day the two had met, though at the time he had been more than a little annoyed. She had grown on him, that was certain. He found he was starting to rather like her sweetness. "Of course there was an injured creature involved." He was sarcastic but there was an undertone of laughter to his voice, as if he wasn't really mad but still wanted to give her a hard time. "You cant go around fixing every little creature in the forest. Then we'd never have time to go get into trouble."

Kiyoko: She couldn't help but tilt her head at him. Was he smiling or was the shadows playing tricks with her eyes. That thought left her mind when he sarcastically commented about the injured animal, ears flattening against her head. "Well, you wouldn't like it if you were injured and passed you by."

Roland: He cocked his head at her. "Are you comparing me to a bunny?" he raised an eyebrow at her and shook his head. "You couldn't leave me alone when I WASN'T injured. Though I suppose that worked out ok, so I can't say I would have wanted you to walk away from me that particular time. Still, the smaller animals can be left on their own sometimes, don't you think?" He didn't expect her to agree with him. He wasn't overly concerned with it, though. She was going to keep being who she was, and he was fine with that.

Kiyoko: She quickly shook her head. "No! No, I'm not comparing you to a bunny!" She kicked the dirt idly, not quite sure how to explain it, especially when he brought up her persistance to heal him that time. When he said that he didn't want her to leave either made her perk up. At first, he was a bit harsh, but it was good to see that he was calming down, at least, around her. "Well, I'm sure they can, but there's nothing wrong with a little help."

Roland: He shrugged and let the matter drop. He knew there would be many such times that she would be late for similar reasons and decided to let it go. He looked back up at the moon in the sky. "We've lost most of the night. Still, it's clear enough. Come, let's take a walk." He turned and started off, expecting her to catch up and follow along side him as they went along. He wanted to at least do a little scouting about and see what was in the area.

Kiyoko:She was happy that he dropped the issue, being rather unsure that she could defend what she did much longer. "I'm sorry." Was all she said when he mentioned having lost a lot of the night, but trotted after him when he turned and walked ahead. "Do we have to do something mean tonight? I-I mean, can't we actually take a nice walk today?"

Roland: He was caught a bit off guard by her question, though he tried not to show it, not slowing or glancing at her as she caught up to him. It troubled him, though. He didn't know what it was like to "take a nice walk". What was that like? He grew up around his scheming and manipulative mother and a bumbling oaf of a stepfather, to say nothing of his birth father... he growled away the thoughts and finally stopped and looked at his traveling companion. He looked at her for a long moment, his expression unreadable before he finally nodded slowly. "Yes, why don't we just take a walk."

Kiyoko: When he remained silent, she worried that she had upset him some how. She knew he seemed to liked planning schemes and causing mischief, so that suggestion might have been taking it too far. So when he finally stopped and looked to her, she scrambled to a stop, blinking. His response caught her so off guard, she just stood there quietly for a moment. Regaining her composure, she smiled softly to him. "Really? That would be wonderful."

Roland: He let his gaze linger on her a bit longer before turning and motioning for her to join him. He wasn't sure what one did or talked about when "just walking". He felt out of his element and a bit uncomfortable, but he did his best not to let it show. He could be a wall of stubborn will and an unreadable mask with just about everyone else, but Kiyoko threw him so off-balance. And yet he couldn't help but enjoy her company. Something about her softened the edge he always felt, and he found himself wanting to do what she asks - though of course he'd never admit that to her! "So what makes this a "nice" walk as opposed to any other kind of walk?"
Somehow I missed a reply from Kiyoko here... doot doot
Roland: He chuckled at her sweet spirit. "So that means we aren't having any fun then," he said sarcastically, but not with too much. The air was cool and pleasant, the deepening shadows were calming, and in the sky the first stars had started sparlking. He couldn't help but feel a bit more at peace in that moment. Was this how others lived all the time? "Anyway, if my antics are so mean to you, why do you follow along?"

Kiyoko: She tsked lightly at his comment about not having any fun, just shaking her head. Deciding to ignore the comment, she just kept walking along side of him, enjoying as the stars started to peek out of the sky. At his question about why she follows along, she looked to him and smiled warmly. "Because I feel that under that grim and gruff facade you put on, there's a better stallion underneath."
