He'd been laying low for a little while, trying to sort things out, get used to the idea of wearing the frail human skin called Xanthus Goldman instead of being Kairatos. It felt like wearing an uncomfortable, too tight suit, and he was glad to be out and on the move, and grateful for the emergence of Spring, and he whistled cheerfully as he walked, deliberately out in the open, his eyes sparkling with a glint of dark mischief. It had every bit of challenge that you might find in a young man standing brazenly in front of a broken window with a sling shot, daring someone to come try and take him to task for it while he still had a bag of heavy stones. In this case he had a net, thick, rough rope with curved old hooks of horn, polished by much handling, that clacked as they swung at his side. "OK come on... I am going to be SO damn bored if if there's no damn action tonight!" He challenged, conversationally, but the only hint he could feel was an order signature. Something maybe like Camelot, or Themiscara, but while the same 'flavor', not the same level. At least the night wouldn't be a total bust, but it probably meant they'd already dusted any Youma around, much as he liked to imagine it was because they were running in terror from him.

"You and me both, buddy," came the reply, from somewhere on the roofline. A moment later, Babylon hopped down from the top of a payday advance outlet and waved to the other knight. He was glad to see a friendly face tonight - even if it wasn't someone he'd ever met before. With Avalon's bounty on his head, he'd been trying to keep a low profile, and that meant changing up his patrol patterns and heading to a new area of town. He'd always stayed away from the area by the racetrack - and possibly with good reason. That reason being that, tonight at least, it was pretty dead. But at least dead meant he didn't need to fight off any lieutenants with delusions of easy wealth and acclaim. So there was an upside and a downside to everything. Still, he wouldn't mind a youma. It would make tonight seem like less of a waste. "So hey there," he said, looking the knight up and down. He knew their faction was a small minority in a larger war, but it was still interesting to come across another knight, especially one properly knight-ranked, who he'd never met before. "My name's Babylon. Wee you thinking of looking for trouble?"

"Definitely looking, just not finding. Unless you're about to cause some." He challenged with a flash of white teeth. "Kairatos." He added, by way of introduction. This other knight had the advantage for gear, but he bet he'd have it less easy when the weather got warmer. "That's some lantern you got there. Would absolutely suck to be anyone who got that upside the head." He noted. Not that it was actually what it was intended for he was sure, but you could technically weaponize just about anything in a pinch. And that angry looking blue ball of glassy spikes would sure leave an impression. "...Mercury right?" There was a symbol it was hard to forget, given who had worn it for a while.

"Yeah, I-" Babylon glanced at the lantern."Yeah, I've heard it's pretty awful to get hit with." It was, after all, pretty effective at knocking off youma - or he would have never survived this long. Karaitos, he observed, held a net - he bet it was a major drag for anyone caught in it, and knowing knights, there was undoubtedly some sort of magical quality as well that he could barely even begin to consider. "Mercury, yes," he answered. It was plain as day to anyone familiar with the symbol he wore, but it was a lonely post. Once, he'd shared it with Lina and Hesperis. But Lina had fallen back into the Negaverse, and he had heard nothing of Hesperis in years. Perhaps she'd left the city, same as he had, only never to return. He didn't really look, because he was afraid of what he might find out. "And you're Mars?" he asked, gesturing to the older knight. "I've never met a knight of Mars before."

"Yep, apparently not too common, from what Themiscara told me, she's also a knight of Mars. Well... a page. Haven't asked Camelot if he knows the stats, but I've seen a handful of Earth knights around. Guess that kinda makes sense, Earth being the big focus of this spat we're all in." What WERE the stats on knights anyway, now that he thought about it? There were more senshi than he could readily name, on all sides of things, but knights? And not Negaverse agents either, though he supposed you could count them in a sense. "Oh well, guess it just means that whoever we kick to the curb will have less trouble remembering who to thank for it." He grinned, wickedly, as though clearly it would be any and all foes falling before them, and wasn't it terribly fantastic.

Babylon shrugged. Themiscyra he didn't know, Camelot he did - although it had been a long time, and Babylon hadn't really kept up the relationship in order to be able to just call him up and ask. But Avalon had been an earth knight, as well, although she wasn't properly one anymore. All her sigils stood broken. "I knew two other Mercury knights," he said, trying to not let his sadness show. "A long time ago. One corrupted. The other, I've got no idea. I knew an earth knight, too - Avalon. She's corrupt now, too." He felt like that little cartoon dinosaur. All my friends are dead. Pathetic. "Anyway, I like the way you think," Babylon added, returning Kairatos's grin. Fighting was the most manly way to get your emotions all worked out - right? "Let's go find something and beat it up," he said, pounding a fist against his chest.

"Linarite." Kairatos provided with certainty and a dismissive curl of his lip. "One of Zinkenite's favorite pets.I don't remember being impressed." Then again he barely remembered seeing the Lieutenant from a distance. She'd never had much time for him, most of ZInkenite's favorites had little time, in his experience, for anyone but each other. And of course the little General King. "Avalon I don't know." He admitted. Interesting. No mineral name?
"But Fighting I can definitely do." He grinned again, recovering quickly from the flash of open disdain. "How old are you, by the way, if you don't mind my asking. Nice to know how many people I'll be fighting with that are actually old enough to share a beer with occasionally."
It barely occurred to him that there were people that might actually not like beer. Clearly they had just not had the correct beer.
"You got something in mind? I've been coming up empty handed every time I go out fishing lately."
Never mind that it was a bit harder when your fishing pool was no longer the entire population of the city that wasn't Corrupt.

"Yeah, Lina," said Babylon, not able to keep the sigh out of his voice. He knew who she'd been and who she'd returned to being - but she'd always be Lina to him, and her betrayal would always sting. "She was my mentor when I was just starting out as a page. I thought that the sun shone out of her a**, but, you know." He shrugged. He'd come to terms with the facts, and that meant he was allowed to be sentimental - right?
Still, there was a way to how Kairatos talked about the Negaverse that made the gears in Babylon's head spin, and suddenly, he suspected there was a reason they'd never met before, beyond just the luck of the draw. "Hey," he said hesitantly, unsure whether the question he was about to ask was a huge faux pas or whatever. "Were you purified?"
"I'm twenty-two," he added. His birthday had passed almost a month ago without much fanfare, but then, he'd been busy with a lot of other things at the time. "Anyway, it's usually pretty easy to find a youma if you kick around in the alleys long enough. They like dark places. Easy traps for people taking out the trash in their bedroom slippers."
Not that there was really anywhere around here that might fit the description - this neighborhood looked mostly industrial.

"Well Zink seems to think so too, from what I can tell." Kairatos noted with a shrug. He didn't know her well enough to know what the fuss was about, and annoyance made him more than content enough to write her off as being over marketed. "And I was. I was Realgar, if that means anything." He didn't imagine it did, 'the Rider on the Black Bike' probably meant more, and only in certain circles anyway. Twenty two, not too bad. At least he wasn't some tiny little thing like Chantilly had been. He didn't know if she was even still around. Given the way she'd acted when he was still Realgar, he'd be surprised if she was.

"I fought Zinkenite once," said Babylon brightly. "The senshi I was with got some kind of lucky shot with her attack and we were able to get away. He - uh - he doesn't do real well against sensational magic, I guess." Not really his finest hour, but any fight you made it out of alive was kind of a win - right? Well, no. Not really. "You won't be offended if I admit I've never heard of you, right?" he asked apologetically. "I mean, don't take it the wrong way - I was out in Alaska for about a year and a half. I missed a lot. I'm sure you were fearsome as all get out - but I'm also sure glad you're on our side now." Really, he was just glad that anyone would come over to Order. Seemed like people spent most of their time corrupting, after all - and he liked to see proof that the things he was trying to convince other Negaversers were possible actually were. "You know, I really hate to be that guy, but can I pick your brain about the whole purification thing for a second, if you don't mind?" Babylon asked. He felt like a rubbernecker at a traffic accident - but Kairatos was too good a resource to pass up.

"Good to know!" Hm, maybe this was a good guy to know. He did inevitably plan to go take the fight to Zinkenite at some point...someone who'd previously inconvenienced him might be useful. "What do you wanna know?" He added. "I'll tell you what I can. I've been waiting to fill in Iris with a little information when I catch up with her again, but apparently it takes it out of her like mad." Silverah Sorry, pretty short one. ^_^;

Babylon smiled a little disbelievingly - but then, after his recent spate of rotten luck with Avalon, he supposed it was only fair that his ship come in eventually. "Really?" he asked. "You're sure?" It had felt like a massive faux pas to ask, but different strokes for different folks. But now, he really needed to get his head in order and ask the hard hitting questions. Best to stop with the name Kairatos had dropped - right? "Iris is - is Iris a princess?" he asked. He'd met Iris, in what was probably one of the grossest and smelliest battles in the history of the war. Next time someone got the bright idea of turning a port-a-potty into a youma, Babylon was going to find them and kill them before they could. But back to Iris - the girl he'd met's attitude was about as far from Royalty as he could imagine, but then, lots of things were surprising him lately. And maybe being a loud-mouthed senshi with a knack for destroying things was good cover. "Okay, good to know," he said. "Mostly I've just been shrugging and telling people to find Zirconia in hopes that she'll point them in the right direction." He sort of had yet to learn if any of his efforts had been successful. "But that's good to know. Thanks, man." "So, uh, how long ago did you... do the thing?" Babylon continued. Wow. Verbage was hard. He was embarrassed by his lack of vocabulary.

"She's a princess and she appreciates a good fast machine. What's not to like." Kairatos affirmed. "Doesn't spent a lot of time powered up that far I guess because it's safer not to, but I kinda imagine it's a nice card to have up her sleeve in a pinch." He rolled his shoulders in another shrug as he debated how to explain things. "I converted on New Years. Was thinking about it before then, but she wanted to make sure I was serious. Zirc was there and... I think her name was Psyche? I forget. Grayish hair. Quiet type. And *********. Like I said though, took all the stuffing out of Iris. She actually passed out, but that mighta been partially because I was a captain before. Dunno if she had anything to do with it but I know I'm stronger than that now." Iris or the Universe... he still wasn't sure who the credit went to, since Iris hadn't mentioned it was even an option, but it was hard to argue with being able to bring a bigger dog to the fight. "So yeah, Linarite jumping ship for a while wasn't a one off game. It's totally possible, and No, I'm not planning on creeping back to General Funsize with my tail between my legs like she did. I dunno what he sees in her but I'm not dumb enough to go back to being someone's junk yard dog."

Babylon nodded. He didn't know Psyche, or *********, really, but any idea of how things had actually gone down could help for future reference - especially if her were to run into Spinel again, and could offer him better advice than Find Zirconia. "I can see why she'd want to make certain that you're serious," he said, fiddling with his lantern, "If it takes that much out of her." "Knights just kind of power up randomly, in my experience," he added. "It's like, the universe sees you need the power, and it hands it to you." At least, that had been his experience both times - He'd gotten in over his head, and the cosmos had delivered. "Maybe it saw that you needed strength for something." It wasn't like you could really complain about being stronger - sure, it made you a bigger target, but he'd be dead by now if he hadn't powered up when he had. "Did they welcome her back?" he asked. The question had been bugging him for a long time - and even though Kairatos had already made clear that he didn't know why Lina had switched sides twice the way she did, well, turning your back on the negaverse didn't seem like something they'd take kindly to. "Or was she punished?" Maybe she'd been too valuable to them to let go. He didn't know. And nothing was going to make him rest any easier on the subject, so he'd might as well stop trying. "I know a few people who are looking at getting out," he admitted with a shrug. "I'm trying to help them however I can, so I'm glad I ran into you tonight." Even if there were still no youma on his radar anywhere. What the hell, the one night he actually wanted to find one!

"As far as I know, they did. She's part of the set Zinkenite seems to think are better than the rest of us. If anyone had a problem with that he probably punished them for now acknowledging his 'superior intelligence'. He used air quotes while discussing Zink's IQ. "Same as happened to the ones who got a toe too far out of line when they allied with the Blood Moon Court. They're always talking about how the Negaverse is 'family', but apparently that means a ******** of a lot different things depending who you are, so can't say I'm surprised there's others out there who want to get their collars off. Let me know if I can help. I'd be happy to help out, let them know the risks, help where I can." They knew, he imagined, that there was risk, but he wasn't sure if others were as sure as he was that the General Kings were happy to play favorites, and he was just as sure they'd be happy to use the uncertainty and fear of welcoming Lina back and then destroying someone else. Fear was powerful, maybe second best to cultivating loyalty, which they didn't seem to care about, or hadn't with him. "I gave them two years of my life, if I can save someone else from wasting their time..."
