He wasn't about to stay there for the final count down, to know what it meant when a server reset. What would happen to anyone caught there? Would they die? Besides that his mind was still preoccupied with his friend. Ulka hadn't responded to him, and then with the reset and the shadows... A deep fear and anxiety strangled the rest of the thoughts.
Alex knew that the Tav was the best place to meet someone. It was spacious enough to be private, and the only place they could meet without fear of being hurt too badly. Pacing the floor back and forth, he spammed Ulka a few times with the same message: I'm in the tavern. Are you okay? Ulka, where are you? Ulka, please respond. Alex knew he was being ridiculous and obnoxious, but he couldn't rest until he knew for sure where his best friend was.
Flopping down into one of the chairs, Alex hunched over and blew hard out of his nose. He had promised Ulka that he would protect him, but look what happened. The first issue and that promise couldn't be kept. Sure, he tried, but it was still a failure. Alex's confidence was shot, completely. In his mind he'd built himself up to be a knight, a protector, but the truth was he was just weak and helpless and unneeded. The harpy choked back tears as he felt himself crumble from the stress of the day. Damn Alice. Damn the Queen's. Damn it all. All he wanted was to be out of here with Ulka and his friends.
A soft voice whispered, Ulka's not at school. He knew that. He knew that. But he kept it hidden deep down through grandiose promises of protection and far fetched schemes of contact. Ulka was facing reality while Alex had tried to run every way to make a solution, some solution, happen. If Alex couldn't protect Ulka when he was right there, how the ******** could he protect him when he was who-knows-how many miles away?
Taking in a shuddering breath, Alex wiped away his tears. As he did, he felt the cool metal of the ring against his cheek. Pulling it off, he looked at it every which way. Cool, blue, wavy... Soothing and simple, but perfect. Then he noticed it, for the first time. The inscription... Let's meet again in the next life.
Sliding the ring back on, Alex felt calmer and stronger. He'd given Ulka something precious, his word. One failure did not negate his sentiment or feelings. No matter what happened, he'd be there for the little bear. No matter what.

To say that Ulka Ursa was troubled was an understatement. The bear boy was perturbed. Upset. Confused.
Broken.
He had spent a good long while, on his own, just… thinking. Trying to understand where, and who, and what he was. At first he was convinced he was Ulka Ursa, and he was real, but now… Now, not so much. Was there even an Ulka Ursa at all? Or was he just a convenient set of memories strewn together by Alice?
He had, after all, opened the door.
It would make sense. Get a simple, sort of stupid little bear like him. Have him do something irreversible and stupid. Open their eyes to all of it, and ruin them. It was absolutely perfect and brilliant, and it was killing him to think about it.
He… did he have friends? Did he count as a friend? Ulka wasn’t certain anymore. The others could wake up, talk to each other, make certain that they were real and this had all happened. But not him. On the other side- if there even was an other side- Ulka only had himself.
It was with a heavy heart that Teddomination entered the tavern. Lo and behold, Alex was there. Barely managing to look up, and fighting back the tears which threatened him, Teddomination waved weakly and went to sat at his friend’s table.
“I… I think we need to talk, Al—Boi.”

Boi's head was resting on the table when he heard the soft squeak step of their friend leader approach. Sitting bolt upright, he began to babble a million things, "Ulka! You're okay, you're here, you're not dead. I was worried, why didn't. I set messages. You didn't.. Did you ge them did you just not want to respond I was so worried I'm sor --"
Teddy sat down opposite and said he wanted to talk. Boi capped his thoughts and calmed down. Swallowing he spoke slowly, "Ul.. Teddy, you can call me by my real name... I would like it if you did." It felt more personal.
"Ul... Teddy, What's wrong?"

Call him by his real name. That was what Alex asked of him. Swallowing heavily, Ulka shook his head and looked away from his friend, uncertain of how to proceed. He had planned this out beforehand, but now… now he wasn’t so sure. It felt like his throat was bone dry, stuffed full of cotton, and—
Well. Well, it WAS stuffed full of cotton. Just… not the way it felt right now. The bear boy rung his hands nervously, still not sure what he was going to say.
“I have, um. I have been thinking, Alex. I… I do not think I am real, anymore.” He admitted softly, ears drooping in shame. Ulka had given this a lot of thought, after the room, and…
“…Alice needed someone to open the door. And I opened it very quickly, yes? It… it seems too convenient. I am not a student. I do not have anyone to talk to about this, after it all ends. If Alice has been making these puppets, and has been making us…”
Ulka was trying his best not to cry, he was. But he hiccupped sadly, tears streaming down his little face.
“…Then she probably made me. And I do not think I will be around, when this game ends.”

Alex listened as his friend spoke. It was a little surreal. He thought he was an AI? Because he had opened the door? But that made no sense to Alex. He chewed on his lower lip as he thought about it. Is it possible? He supposed... Anyone could be fake. He could be fake. But going down that road wasn't going to take them anywhere positive.
Standing up, he walked to the otherside of the table and hugged Ulka tightly, "Just let it out.. I'm here for you. I don't think you're an AI Ulka and if you are then... I won't wake up."
