Nila splashed into the pond with a happy sigh, letting the cool water soak into her fur. The heat was downright awful today. The cheetah hadn't meant to be out and about during the hottest part of the afternoon, but she'd gotten a late start that morning (or rather, she'd overslept like the lazy bum she was) and had sacrificed a few hours of travel in the heat to make up for lost time. She wasn't really behind schedule, as treasure hunting never required strict rules about time frames and whatnot, but still, Nila had been hoping to reach the cave she'd been told about by tomorrow morning. The bag around her shoulder was sadly empty, and the cheetah could just hear it crying out to be filled with jewels and gems and crystals.
But right now, Nila desperately needed a break. She waded through the pond's deep middle and came up onto the bank on the other side, shaking the worst of the moisture away from her fur. Though the water felt quite refreshing, Nila didn't want the dirt to cake onto her fur as mud. Better to suffer a little heat discomfort now than spend goodness knows how long trying to groom out mats of dirt. The cheetah flicked her tail and began scanning the area for any nearby shade she could lie down in.

The jewelry adorned lioness walked slowly, the limp in her back leg still quite pronounced though she still could not remember why or how she had acquired it. It was just there one morning when she'd woken up, along with the variety of bruises that she had also had - though those had thankfully faded by now. The limp persisted though, hanging around like a horrible reminder of a bad-night bender that she couldn't remember. She must have found some bad fruit or something, that was the only explanation for it.

She hummed a little to herself as she walked, careful not to hum too loudly, lest she irritate anyone around with her noise, but at the same time, hoping that someone would hear it and come and keep her company.

She liked people, but gosh, the idea of a pride was downright disgusting. She knew she would never be lonely in a pride, and she hate being lonely, but ew, prides were far too restrictive. She was a rogue, through and through.

Lari shook her head, clearing the thoughts of prides from her mind, taking the time to search the horizon for any signs of life, or, heaven-provide, shade.

Ha! There! a little ways out there was what looked to be a small tree. It wasn't the best, but Nila was sure it would do. She only needed to rest for a little while, after all. The cheetah trotted towards her new destination, the soreness in her paws forgotten in favour of relief for the discovered resting place.
The shade that the tree provided was patchy, but it was better than being out in the sun. Nila scraped away at the topsoil, exposing the cooler dirt underneath, a trick she learned from an old friends. With a happy sigh, Nila collapsed onto the earth, head pillowed on her paws. The cheetah's eyes stared blankly out in the savannah before her, not really focusing on anything at all. She was aware of some movement in her peripheral vision, but the effort she'd have to to take in order to turn and actually look was just too much. That is, until the movement sparkled.
Nila's head whipped up faster than a frightened hare, eyes now wide and attentive. She knew what sparkles meant. A lioness came into the cheetah's view, walking somewhat strangely. But Nila wasn't focused on the gait. She was looking at the sun glinting off what had to be jewelry. Oh, how Nila loved shiny things. She loved looking at them, touching them, wearing them, anything that involved them at all. The funny walk, however, was starting to become a little distracting of Nila's admiration of the gems. It took a moment for the cheetah to realize that the stranger was in fact limping. Nila scowled. What was an injured lioness doing out alone in the Rogue lands? And out in the heat of the day too? Nila was no healer, but she knew a thing or two about first aid. If the lioness was still wounded, she was only going to make it worse by moving about!
The cheetah stood up. "Hey now, miss! Plenty of shade over here if you'd like to come and rest a spell." Nila called out. Perhaps she'd also get a nice close up of the jewelry the lioness was wearing.
