i had a dream last night where i was scared and i wanted to wake up. i was scrambling for objects to pick up and feel, to see if it was a dream. i couldn’t tell when i touched the objects, everything felt empty and i was trapped in the dream. i think i actually need a small object and know it’s physical qualities, so if i am ever stuck in a dream, i can think of it.

i have very powerful dreams and i’m scared of them most of the time…

Name: Anabel Au

Nickname: Ana

Age: 23

Birthday: 2 January

Sign: Capricorn

Gemstone: Black onyx

Blood Type: A

Fav. Food: Anything she can coat liberally in khrenovina, a Siberian tomato/garlic/horseradish sauce. Especially bruschetta.

Hated Food: Herring. It should also be noted that Anabel is a vegetarian for health reasons.

Occupation: DMV Clerk, part-time student at DCU

Hobbies:
Wii Sports -- Since her accident, Anabel isn't actually able to be as active as she once was. However, she's still a highly kinesthetic person, and while most of her entertainment comes from television and video games now, she particularly enjoys Wii Sports; it gives her the opportunity to get up and move around in the comfort of her own home, where if she has any problems she has all her coping mechanisms around her. She particularly enjoys Wii Tennis and any of the Wii Resort expansions, but is not very fond of Wii Golf. She can bowl a perfect game in Wii Bowling, and should not be challenged.

Gaming -- Anabel has caught all the Pokemon, in every generation. Her Animal Crossing town has a completed museum. Her Mass Effect Galactic Readiness score is 100%, always. Her Vita has the full stock of accomplishments. She is, to put it politely, a completion junkie; she will play any game as many times as she has to to unlock every ending and every special weapon and every secret cutscene.

Swimming -- Missing part of her liver, a kidney, and her whole spleen--just to list the relevant parts--Ana is very much not allowed on most sports teams--she can't consume protein in any meaningful amounts, she can't take hits, and she's extremely prone to illness. This makes the chlorinated and relatively bacteria-free environment of swimming pretty much the only way she can get active (aside from WiiSports). She can generally be found at the DCU pool early in the morning on days when she has class.

Yoga -- It's really important for Anabel's healing process that she stay as active as she can, and yoga is a very relaxing non-contact sport that the DCU gym does for free on Thursdays. Also, the Wii can now teach a yoga class if you have a balance board, which Anabel totally does. So if she's not otherwise WiiSporting, or swimming, she's likely to get her activity fix from yoga.

Virtues:
Always Ready - Anabel is a very calm person. In a crisis situation, she's generally able to come up with something to do; she can handle almost any situation with grace and aplomb because she's always ready for them. She knows what kind of extinguisher to use for a specific kind of fire (and, yes, there is more than one kind of extinguisher depending on the kind of fire) and knows how to detect and react to things such as strokes, heart attacks, and spontaneous stab wounds.

Eumoirous - Ana is healthy, wholesome, and generally cheerful. Like, sure, she is missing a significant amount of her insides, and that tends to force her to eat healthier than she would otherwise, but even before her accident she was a bright and cheerful person, always willing to share what she knew with people. She tends to be honest and responsible, not for any particular reason but because she just is.

Choose and Act - Anabel is decisive. She makes decisions and sticks to them, is what I mean by that. When confronted with tough situations, she tries to discard her emotional feelings about them and just do what's best by logic, and she's usually pretty successful. This has saved her life in the past, most obviously during the accident that kind of messed up all her insides. Being able to compartmentalize, to separate the emotional considerations for things from the actual necessity of things, has kept her emotionally stable even through really trying times. It also improves her current quality of life.

Flaws:
Feasting on Those Who'd Subdue Her - Anabel has a real problem with being told no. She takes limits as challenges, and when she bests a challenge she has to rub the challenger's face in it, and when she doesn't she... accepts it, and moves on. The reason this is a flaw is that she is a massive sore winner, and does not do all that well with victory--she can handle defeats with grace, but winning puts her on a high that apparently temporarily blinds her to the human feelings of the loser.

Girls Aren't Meant to Fight - When Anabel has a problem with another person, she tends to handle it by talking to other people and getting them to put pressure on the person she's in conflict with. She's extremely poor at handling confrontation between people--a crisis from outside her social group, that's fine. She can handle an emergency. If she gets into an argument, she tends to stew over it and explain her viewpoint to others in the hopes that they will make the problem go away for her.

Warning, Contents Under Pressure - In 99% of occasions, Anabel is capable of divorcing her feelings from the facts of a situation. She's generally capable of compartmentalizing and stashing things away until she feels the best decision has been made, and then she can take things out and rationally examine her feelings into nothing, sort of like going through a carefully-packed box without disturbing the other parts. When other people dare show her any concern or pity for decisions she's made all on her lonesome, she gets hostile, and can say pretty harsh things that she doesn't really mean. It's not so much an explosion as Anabel turning cagey and hostile, and it can be extremely off-putting.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Silver

Hair: White-gray

Face: Heart-shaped, with a pointed little nose

Clothes: Generally comfortable things when not at work, general professional attire when at the DMV. She favors athletic gear and big sweatshirts over jeans and blouses for her daily wear. She owns a pair of penny loafers, but that's it for dressy shoes.

User ImageKnight Title: Mistral Page of Mercury

Challenge: Results reflect resolve!

Uniform: As to the right. I'd like the bells to be replaced with "ice flowers" of some sort, and for her to have actual footwear, though. smile

Weapon/Magic:
Page: A simple ring of very dark stone.

Squire: A slightly more complex cuff bracelet, possibly dark stone with gold inlay?
Mistral's magic manifests as the ability to key up her weapon and use it to project a "decoy" of herself. The actions of the decoy are extremely limited; it can run at the proper pace for a Squire. The problem is that it could run through walls or low-lying obstacles, thus shattering the illusion. Attacking the decoy will dispel it in a burst of static. Close study of the decoy will reveal it's not really Mistral. This is an intelligence-related magic, in that it provides her enemy with misinformation. The decoy can last up to thirty seconds per fight.

Knight: A cuff bracelet of translucent crystal, inlaid with golden lines.
Attacking Mistral's decoy will still dispel it, but upon being dispelled (forcibly or by timing out) it emits a bright flash of blue light and a loud, staticky buzzing noise that will distract nearby enemies and disrupt their communication devices. The decoy can last up to forty-five seconds total per fight, and the distraction/stun will last for as long as Mistral is channeling.

This is a power in line with the Knight faction guidelines for magic usage because she is actively casting this spell on herself. It is a defensive boost for her, through feeding the enemy misinformation; it can serve to deflect death (read: all) blows from her because she simply isn't there to be hit.

Mistral the Wonder

The land at the foot of the city of Babylon is empty and cold and frozen and grey and anything that pierces the crusted carpet of windswept snow is broken: shattered and bare and entombed in ice. Hundreds of years ago, a castle stood here. But anymore, all that remains are crumbling stone walls and jagged spires collapsed and buried in the earth. Anymore, all that’s left of the ancient fastness is ring after ring of debris, silently circling a grove of dead white trees like the ghosts of defeated sentinels bound to eternal duty.

But underground.

Underground a labyrinth sprawls. Smoothly rounded tunnels and passageways wind around each other and circle deep into the earth, darker than the darkest night one moment and brighter than dawn the next.

It is here, interred under the snow and the ruins of their ancient home, that the Knights of Mistral once re-built their seat. Wrapped in the frigid deep of endless winter and the steamy heat of hidden hot springs, they held the secrets of some of Mercury's most brilliant minds as they ever had.

And there, those secrets wait.

Hey roma~ Ana looks great! Just some fiddly stuff on Mistral's attacks and she'll be ready to go<3

Essentially Knight magic doesn't really work as a one-use thing! It's designed to be drawn from a pool - so she could use her decoy multiple times, as long as the amount of time it was out totaled to thirty seconds. Also, perhaps when the decoy is attacked instead of just disappearing it "glitches" out? Sort of flickers out of existence rather than just vanishing? Just a little techy thing to make it more obviously Mercury?

My only crit on her Knight attack is the pool thing, again - so my suggestion would be that when her decoy is hit, the stun that goes off then lasts for as long as she's channeling the attack at that time?

I dunno, I'm open to other possibilities too!

I was told once that if I wanted to have an attack that does not require my knight to be actively standing still and channeling, it had to have a one-shot all-or-nothing use schema. Is this different now?

The reason I really want Mistral to have an attack that isn't necessarily going to need to be channeled consistently is because she is really not meant to be in combat. The magic is an escape mechanism for her. If she has to stay put and channel while her decoy is active, then she's not really going to be able to use it to escape.

I dunno. Maybe she could "channel" for a certain amount of time and then deploy the decoy? So she has to concentrate for x amount of time, preferably in a decent hiding place, before activating the magic, but the magic runs for the entire time that she spent focusing on it? Does that work?

That is no longer the case! Knights do not have to stand still to channel, but she does need to be holding her weapon to do so. Would you be alright with a decoy that copies her movements, but in another place/direction? So if she's running away while using her magic, the decoy would run too, but in the opposite direction, or something like that?

This looks good to me! I think the idea for her knight magic is really unique, so I look forward to seeing it in play!

Have fun with her!
