The signature powers around Mintaka's patrolling area were fluctuating a lot. Where she thought her area was mostly ignored, she could feel the tickling presence of youma's around and perhaps a chaos agent.
She had eradicated two just nights ago, how many more would pop up? The powered chaos though made her curious, she didn't think it was Zinkenite, though she really did want it to be. He had been more then enlightening in his talk, and she was curious about him.
More then a Senshi should be.
Instead, she donned her form and jumped from roof to roof until she felt the presence the strongest, lowering herself to the street level and looking around. She could feel someone here, but where...?

Lieutenant Merlinite felt the aura of a senshi somewhere nearby and wrinkled his nose in distaste. At least it was not the one that he'd been getting far too familiar with, the one that he constantly got into fights with, and could not seem to trump no matter how hard he tried. This one did not feel like it was even the same -type- of good. He had to remind himself that not all senshi were senshi, but were actually knights and... probably something else, he was not great with information.
Which was funny, considering his job and the unit he'd signed up with for the Negaverse. Funny in an ironically sad kind of way.
Cracking his knuckles, Merlinite put on his serious action face and moved to investigate the feeling, determined to make sure he got some information out of this senshi, or knight, or whatever it was, no matter what he had to do. He had to prove to himself, more than anyone else, that he was worth the trouble they'd gone through to recruit him. And if he couldn't get information from her, he would just take her energy.
Either way, he had to walk away with something that would make him a winner.
He spotted her as she dropped to the sidewalk from a rooftop nearby. Holding his baton tightly in one hand, he approached, glaring at her seriously with his shining yellow eyes. He offered her a crooked grin, looking her over.
"You look like you've wandered into the wrong part of town, little lady. You sure you're supposed to be out here all alone?"

Mintaka clucked her tongue, a small sound escaping as she had yet to find the source of the energy when it literally popped out at her.
Her head whipped around, taking in the negaverse character (as he had a uniform and no marks like the Dark mirror court.) and frowning.
His words would sound like a challenge, but as he had yet to punch her in the face like Erythrite, she assumed she could at least talk her way through this one.
"Thank you for your concern." Mintaka started out politely, "But I fear that a little lady like myself has no choice to be out in the neighborhoods tonight." She studied his weapon and then looked back up at him. "I can assure you right now that I won't be attacking, if you don't mind putting your weapon away." Or you could beat her with it, It's not like she could put up much of a fight.

Merlinite grinned at her, with his less then friendly, wolfish air. He shrugged his shoulders leisurely, letting his baton hang a little more loosely between his fingers before he span it around slowly in a thoughtful gesture, seemingly at least, as he looked at her and made mental note of her appearance.
"I never put my weapon away," he said with a chuckle, but at least he was not swinging his fists, or the baton, at her. It took everything in him not to, of course, but he was playing his hand close to his vest at the moment. He relaxed a bit, tilting his head to the side and nodding at her with his head still at an angle.
"What sort of a senshi isn't out here looking for a fight? I thought that's what you guys liked to do. Keep the streets safe from bad guys like us, right? That's the whole reason you guys are here." He wanted to bait the hook a bit, and see what she stood for, what side of the war she was really on. He knew that there was always the chance that someone had just been recruited to the wrong side, though he really was not sure he cared that much about them to want to fix it.
The Negaverse would be better off without them, either way. Dead or recruited to their side, it hardly made a difference to Merlinite.

"Fair enough." Mintaka frowned, crossing her arms formally across her chest, but at least taking a step back, in case he did attempt something. With the baton, his reach would be farther and she had yet to be hit by a weapon, she didn't plan on it being a reoccurring thing.
Since he seemed willing to talk, she took advantage of it. Perhaps she could learn more of the negaverse society as a whole. It's structure, the way people worked. Was it a big military or did they think of each other as family? And what their goal was in the end. Zinkenite had been coy but still willing to talk after all.
"It's a shame that Senshi are bunched together in one barbaric goal, but as I've yet to meet more then a couple senshi myself, I cannot defend others. I'm a lady-" She emphasized that part, "Who prefers talking and gathering information then getting hurt or messy with battling." She frowned, "I keep the streets safe enough dispatching the youma's. That was the goal I was given, and I will not search for another."
She tapped a finger to her elbow. "I'm afraid I've been improper, and that saddens me. My name is Mintaka, Senshi of Origami." She hesitated, "And you are-?"

Merlinite gave her a look when she said she was a lady, rolling his eyes and offering her a shrug of his shoulders coupled with a grunt of disinterest.
"Right, right, a lady. The Queen of England, probably, and should be treated as such."
The sarcasm in his tone was quiet thick, and he waved his hand as if to wave that thought away, putting them back on equal footing. He was willing to treat her like one of the guys, making her perfectly eligible for a sound beating if it came to that. He had not real qualms with punching a lady, after all, though he doubted he would ever get the chance to punch the queen of England.
He did nod his head at her stiffly, though, in something like a greeting when she introduced herself.
"My name is Merlinite. Mintaka, huh? Origami can't be all that useful, can it? You senshi fight with whatever is in your name, isn't that right? So you do... what? Fold paper really well?"

"Well I am no royalty." She stiffened, and talked herself down. A lady didn't raise her voice, a lady didn't get angry over petty disputes. She was a lady.
It was a mantra for her.
"But i'm not one of the other barbarian people patrolling around." She tapped her finger against her elbow again, a habit of annoyance. "Nice to meet you Merlinite. I'm sensing that the negaverse military trends a theme with your names. Minerals right?" She hummed, it would make sense, as earth consisted of many of them.
His question made her blink and rather then being offended, though she kind of was, she chuckled instead. "In general yes." Because she could tell he was seeking information, especially on her attack, she hesitated. By telling him it, he could avoid it should she need to use it. Best to...finely tune details she shared.
"That's one skill. Another is to summon them at will..." She held out her hands, forming paper cranes and stars in between them. As they formed and dropped, the small breeze picked them up and carried them away in the night. "It can be powerful if it's used in the right way." A unusual cocky grin played over her features. "At the right time. For now I use it better for communication. Your general-king has one of my cranes as a way to summon me, should he ever want to talk again."
She pointed to his baton, "I've seen you guys carrying weapons, but they seem to be unusual. Paper fans? Mics? What determines a useful weapon to you guys?"

"You're really astute, Princess," Merlinite said with a grin, tipping his invisible hat to her. He was really not as good at pretending to be friends with his enemy as he thought he was. In his real life, his job, he had always been conniving and serious about his advancement, and lied his way to the top.
Why couldn't he conquer his sudden hatred for these do gooders better than he was? Why couldn't he just pretend he was their friend and get them to spill all their secrets?
He knew the answer. It was because he really just wanted to get rid of them.
"If my General King summons you again, you can bet you won't be walking away thinking what you do now," he scoffed, shaking his head. He knew what happened with him, though he'd never seen it. Not his bag, the whole switching sides thing. "And how am I supposed to know what weapon we get? What made you pick folding paper? You take what you're given, and make yourself stronger with it."
He watched her thoughtfully for a moment, tapping his baton in the air, against an invisible object to create a silent beat.
"In our job, anything that stops a Senshi works for us."

"Anyone ever tell you that sarcasm isn't very flattering?" She wondered the animosity, but between Erythrite and Osumilite, she didn't have to wonder long. They hated her kind, thought they were the evil. Her kind, a kind she didn't even know.
"You should work on your poker face." She commented, "I can't help but feeling rather then talk and exchange information, you'd like to kill me and get it over with." She took another step back, "And if that's the case, I lose a potential source of information, and you've killed someone for no reason beyond your own hate."
"I highly doubt that." She looked away from Merlinite. "I have a little more faith in your general-king from our meeting. We both see the benefit of a truce between us." Why couldn't others? her stance on being neutral suited her, and her personality. Beyond youma, she had no interest in fighting or hurting others.
"Do you feel that way about the Dark Mirror court Senshi as well? Even though they are agents of Chaos?"

"That would explain why the ladies never call back," he said, with a feigned wistful sigh. He grinned at her, shrugging his shoulders. Maybe that was a bit of a raw nerve, but he hid it well enough. He was still pretty young, right? He had plenty of time to worry about flattering others when he wasn't also worrying about making sure they didn't wake up the next day.
The two did not really go together.
He shook his head. His boss knew how to play the White Moon Senshi for suckers, but Merlinite was not yet following in his footprints, despite joining his team. He would have to work harder to be more like Zinkenite, but something told him he was never really destined for that kind of a path. Maybe he was more like the muscle. He was sure he could strong arm information out of someone if he had the chance.
"I don't really know what you're talking about. I mean, senshi are senshi, as far as I know. You guys just can't make up your mind what team you want to be on. But hey, I'm not looking for a fight with you. Do you think it's fun, picking on little girls in dresses? Hard to really feel good about a night's work whenever I have to deal with a senshi like that."
His eyes, keen and curious, vaguely like an animal with their yellow color, did little to support his words, but he at least made his weapon disappear. Little steps, he told himself. The more practice he got at different tactics, the better off he would be.

The comment earned a raised eyebrow and a...awkward chuckle. If he was a ladies man, then he really needed to work on his flirting.
"How odd." She wrapped her thought around the idea that Negaverse and the Dark mirror court didn't get along, and it made her wonder why. She had to remind herself that this universe was not so black and white. Not so simple.
It was complicated and vast.
"Little girls." She huffed loudly, "I am not a little girl." She wasn't. Okay maybe she was. Once the weapon disappeared, she relaxed more.
"I've asked you many questions, is there one you wish to ask of me? I'm beginning to pain a clearer picture of the Negaverse, and I'm not ashamed to agree that you fight a fight that you believe in. But I was born to this world too, and don't understand why it's hard for me to be accepted as a senshi here."

"You look pretty little," he said, with a frown, "I mean it's not like you're a giant. I'm not saying you're a baby, but, I mean. Most of you guys are what, teenagers? Makes me feel like a creepy bully, sometimes."
Which was true. He did not like the fact that a lot of his enemies were much younger than him, but it was mostly because he did not like feeling old. He wasn't old, not in the slightest, but this war seemed to be mostly comprised of kids. And that he most certainly could not call himself.
He looked surprised when she asked him if he wanted to ask her something, feeling very suddenly on the spot, and searching his head for a good question. Something that would be worth reporting back with, something that maybe no one else knew yet. Would she know something like that? And how did he know where that line was set? He knew basically nothing about all of this, so it was all news to him. Important news. Folks who had been doing this for a lot longer then him, probably not so much.
He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Uhm. I guess... I can't think of anything right now. Can I take a rain check?" He frowned, both outwardly and metaphorically, feeling a deep irritation with himself for being so useless.

"Oh I see." Mintaka frowned again, "And yes I am. Teenager. Not a baby. I'm almost done with high school soon." She rubbed her hands together. "Should you know...I make it another 6 or so months."
For some reason she laughed a little. "A bully. Does that make you much older then me?"
She waited...and then waited.
"A raincheck?" She breathed out, "So...I can assume that we will not fight at all today. That's a step! There's really nothing you want to ask? If not for the knowledge of your Negaverse but for learning more about Senshi? Another good step is asking about your enemy!" She waited.
"Oh but honestly I don't have much to tell. I haven't even figured out how to get to my planet yet. Oh and darn it, I have a test tonight." She slapped a fist down in her palm. "How come your name is Merlinite?"

Merlinite winced when she said she was almost done with high school. He thought he had just been playing a part, but his words were more honest than he really knew. She was a lot younger than him, and he was a creeper for trying to hurt and kill all these kids. But hey, he was also very okay with that, because he knew they had magical space powers that made them his enemy.
Still. He was 28 years old. If asked when he was in high school what he thought he would be doing in ten years, it would not involve powering up for a chaos driven military to go out and slaughter teenagers in high skirts.
"Yeah, you're right. I guess I'm not too good at the questioning thing. I just can't think of anything I don't already know, or I can't ask one of the others about. One of the others on my team, anyway. Really, I'm not supposed to be talking to you guys so much as. You know. Killing you. Wait. You can go to your planet? How do you do that? Oh.. you don't know. Right. Well. If you figure that out, can you tell me about that?"
Hey, that seemed interesting enough. As far as he knew, this was his planet, so there was no space visiting for him. Senshi could go to space? Was that a real thing, or was she messing with him? Why would she choose that to lie about, if she was? It seemed too random: it just had to be true.
"My name is Merlinite because that's what they gave me. I dunno. I just powered up and there it was in my brain. I guess it's because we're all so tied to the Earth, because it's our planet, we get names from rocks and stuff. Eh. You should go study. I think I need a drink anyway."

"Why not?" She blinked, shaking her head. "It's stupid to assume that we can not talk to our enemies." She rubbed her arms.
"Sure, as soon as I figure it out." She nodded her head at him. "I see, so the same for me. Well..." She blinked. "Yes...my studying, thank you. Please do not cause trouble then while I do so? Otherwise I will have to stop studying."
She nodded. "Enjoy...enjoy your nightcap, is that what it is called?" She started to slink back, disappearing into the shadows and then disappearing completely.
