Bio: Grand Marshal Celise Marcella Allenar, High Commander of the Order of the Silver Shield was born in New York City to Samuel Hays Allenar, a blacksmith, and Jamie Leighanne Allenar, a Ranger. She had an older sister, Stephanie Dryden Allenar, who always looked out for her and kept her out of trouble, though getting her in as much as well. At the age of 12, she was chosen for training aas a Paladin, which made her family proud, as it was a hard Class to get in to. When she was 16, two life changing events happened. The first, she became engaged to the love of her life, Tobias Michaels, who was going through Sorcerer training. The second, the city was sacked by an unknown force. She watched her parents die defending her, then was almost killed herself, until her sister, who was supposedly going through Priest training, slit the man's throat from behind. Her older sister dragged her away from the house, hiding her in an abandoned, ruined building with strict instructions not to leave, as she'd be back, though she never did. As the night dragged on, the screams and sounds of battle got worse, so Celise began exploring the building. In a chamber, long forgotten by the city, she found a two-handed hammer, the head made of pure, smooth, flawless granite. It was the hammer of a Defender, a type of Paladin that defended the Church of the Holy Light, which followed the teachings of Sereiones, the God of Light. From the moment she picked the hammer up, she claimed the title of Defender, and made it her goal to restore that order to its former glory. She graduated her training at the age of 18, her weapon of choice being the hammer she'd found. From graduation on, she began recruiting. Eventually her quest reached the ears of of the Arch-Bishop, who approved the restoration of the Order of the Silver Shield. Celise was chosen as its High Commander, making her the first woman to hold that spot. And though she was a woman, they changed the requirements for the Defender, allowing women to become Defenders as well, though all Defenders still had to be chaste and pious. Due to her martial prowess, Celise was appointed Grand Marshal of National Defense, making her the highest ranking military official in the country, though not the youngest ever. The position came with a high assassination rate. Her sole duty is the protection of the people, as well as hunting down evil in all it's forms, smiting it with her greatsword, appropriately dubbed "Holy Avenger."

Celise was assigned to protect Luna on a version of Earth in Universe 27, where she was also appointed as a diplomat, representing the Paladins, and the light as a whole.

Unlike other spells, Divine Magic does not have ranks or varying strengths based upon experience. The strength of Divine magic comes from the user, particularly their faith in the Light. The newest Paladin can be stronger than his elders simply because of faith. However, blind faith is the cause of many a death in training. A Paladin must temper his faith with logic and common sense. As such, the power of the following abilities will be based upon the faith of the user.

*NOTE* Masculine nouns in the following refer to Paladins of both sexes. And all Paladins have the normal abilities. Sub-classes have normal plus the unique abilities.

Normal Paladin Abilities:

Heal: The Paladin heals his target of any wound, regardless of severity. The Paladin's strength is sapped, the more severe the wound, the more energy required. The most powerful Paladins have been known to snatch souls from the clutches of death.

Cleanse: Works the same as Heal, though used for poisons, diseases, and curses. It may also be used to clear a room of smoke and other harmful things.

Consecration: The Paladin focuses his power upon the ground in which he stands on, blessing it with Holy Light, causing any Undead or creature of evil that stands on it to suffer excruciating pain. It is also effective against humans with an evil heart or intentions. The size of the consecrated area depends on the Paladin's faith.

Exorcism: The Paladin smites an Undead or Evil target with the wrath of the Holy Light, causing the target to be thrown back, stunned, or death if the Paladin is powerful enough.

Divine Shield: The Paladin or his target is sheathed in a bubble of Holy Light, impenetrable to any and all spells and weapons. The Shield is temporary and saps the Paladin's strength, preventing it from being used with impunity. With every blow of a weapon, the energy sapped becomes greater.

Resurrection: Bordering on Necromancy, this spell is taught only to the most experienced and faithful of Paladins. The target has to be a good creature, dead LESS than three minutes, and the body has to be able to survive whatever killed it long enough to be Healed or Cleansed.

The Defender, being the Righteous Hammer of the Light, has several unique abilities of their own.

Defender Abilities:

Smite: The Defender creates throwing hammers of solid golden light to be thrown at an enemy, causing the exact same damage that a true throwing hammer would do. However, Celise Allenar has modified her hammers into throwing daggers to match her greatsword. Range varies on individual arm strength.

Chains of the Oppressed: The Defender solidifies the Light into golden chains that are unbreakable, used to detain or restrain enemies of the Light.

Call to Arms: The Defender is always ready to do his duty, developing the ability to summon his armor and weapon from thin air in the form of a ring of golden light, making a Defender near-impossible to catch off-guard.

Anticipation: Almost a form of ESP, the Defender can anticipate the moves of his villainous foe. Anticipation does not make the Defender a mind-reader, it simply allows him to anticipate the next move with a 50/50 chance of success.

Vessel of the Light: Rumored to be a myth, the Vessel of the Light ability allows a Defender to channel the raw Divine power of the Holy Light itself through his body, increasing all of his reflexes, his speed, his strength, and his five senses. The Defender glows with a golden light that blinds the evil and awes the righteous, to include angel wings of golden light that grow from the back. The duration is unknown, as no living person has ever witnessed this ability, though it is said that only the most faithful of all Defenders would ever be able to survive this event, as all of the Defenders in the past that were said to have used it died at the completion. It is considered the ultimate sacrifice in the name of the Light.
