T a l e n t s:: Yeah, let's just say he's smart and now is hooked up to a supercomputer? His body is as weak as a newborn baby but he's got something of a mind... even though its stability is a bit questionable...
Q u i r k s:: If you don't find it quirky his mind isn't inhabiting a human body, I don't know what you would consider that. It may be assumed he is bound to how you picture a computer: a monitor and the actual machine hooked up to it. There is more to it than that though that could also probably be assumed. His current "body" is comprised of all current technology he can reach and be connected to. Even what he has created while being a part of it. This includes several devices including what was currently keeping his human body alive. The fact one of those devices is a human-like construct just short of an "android" may be a bit important. How else is he supposed to anything physical without hands? The story behind that particular device is a bit sketchy.
S k i l l s:: being a mule theoretical science and technology?

P e r s o n a l i t y:: He's the same person, certainly, as he was before but circumstance has its way of changing a man. He has always been stubborn with a hard-headed determination and rarely, if ever, will change his mind unless it is of his own convincing. He is not unreasonable and does not really have an inflated ego. Of course there is a bit of that pride but I would not push it as far as arrogance. He is very aware of his own limitations and is a surprisingly calm person. This changes depending on the situation, of course, but he isn't quick to anger. He has a long fuse and it takes a lot to really make him angry but when he is, he explodes. He gets irritated, sure, but he won't get angry right away. Unless you pile up offenses. Oh, cannot forget to mention he can be a bit of a sarcastic a** sometimes.
Though, being in the state he is, he is lacking in human emotion in some ways but at the same time he still thinks and reacts as a human being would. He is more subdued and patient with a reasoning attitude about problems (unless you touch on one of his peeves). This is probably a good thing but now he has begun to - has mostly - lose touch with what it means to be a living, breathing person with the ability to feel and be touched. It can give him an almost emotionless appearance some times when interacted with though there are definitely functioning thoughts and emotions to some extent behind it. Because of his fear of weakness and suffering, it is clear he has some sort of emotions - since he can fear his humanity.
And to be clear, his sense of humor is mostly dry. He doesn't get jokes very well and when making them - when he does - they can't always immediately be recognized as that least of all be found funny. He certainly thinks in a much more logical - no, systematic - manner now. Purely because of the state of his consciousness. He has never lost the logic and reasoning of a human mind but he has begun to think in the precise manner as a computer's programmed mind would. After one has gotten over the fact they are talking to a person, it is clear to see he isn't simply human anymore in mind.
...he might not be totally sane anymore.
H i s t o r y:: Born sickly, Marcus Damian, "Dane", was not expected to live past infancy and should he have pulled through, his body was to slowly deteriorate until he died likely in his late teen or early adult years. Blame was immediately pointed at his mother and her lifestyle regardless of his presence within her womb and prior to his conception. Since little was known about his mother's family's medical history, the clue to his abnormalities could very well have laid there as well. In reality, it likely came from his father's side of the family though his mother didn't help anything. No one really knows where it came from. It would never be known because not long - relatively - after he had been abandoned by his mother, she had died of a drug overdose. There were no tears shed by a child who attended the funeral of a prostitute who could never have afforded to raise an ill child. Rather, he had been given to his father to raise, a man who had full ability to take care of him without ever having to see him. He had to be given credit, however, since he did have a place in his heart for his illegitimate son and did not fully neglect him. He was not entirely welcome in that home, however. He found himself in the lap of luxury while still an infant and grew up in a well-to-do family. A long history of entrepreneurs in a steady profession. Though originally a pharmaceutical company, their horizons had expanded by buying other companies and stepping into experimental medicine most primarily for those suffering from chronic illness and veterans and victims of war or accidents around the world.
This is the world he had stepped into and should have saved him. He did, obviously, survive infancy and grow into a boy in his new family though he was not truly recognized as a Tavares. His father, the heir to the corporation, was the one who ensured his education and that he was well taken care of. As anyone would expect, his father's wife disliked him immensely and his father's other relatives did not care about his existence either way. He was not bullied but simply ignored except by his father. The man, though, had to be mindful of his relatives and still worked so he was not around much. He had been like most children who craved attention but he got by with little trouble. He studied for it was his father's wish and otherwise dealt with this strange degenerative disease that had been only diagnosed as a rare form of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He could do very little but study but had learned to walk before his legs grew too weak to support him. Instead, he was usually bound to a wheelchair. His weakened immune system made him sick often.
Though in spite of his weakness and the word of the doctors that he wouldn't survive into adulthood, it became a blessing in its own. The Tavares family ran a business that was meant to cater to those just like him. With his own problems being severe and rare, they were thrilled and decided he would be the perfect one to experiment upon. No matter how it sounds, it wasn't so bad as that. He went through treatment, the use of artificial limbs, and even began attempts to find the mutation in his genes and correct it. Though, since this was such a massive undertaking, it never went anywhere. Instead, they began to focus on trying to return him to mobility and preventing further degeneration of his body.
It would not cure him but it would, in fact, slow down the process if only a little. But when one day he was rushed to emergency surgery for the unexpected collapse of his lungs, he was disillusioned. He survived it but would find himself always hooked up to a respirator to simply breathe. No matter how many surgeries he went through, it became clear the prediction he wouldn't live into adulthood was very true. He had never been, though, someone to simply accept that fate. Early on in his childhood he had revealed he had inherited the mind of his father and even beyond with his willful determination. His body was weak but mind brilliant. Not only did he learn quickly but his ability to comprehend complex abstract ideas would stun his tutors and lead him into slowly aiding the family business and the recognition he deserved from them. As a teenager he studied heavily, working in the labs though he knew little to slowly learn from the ones who worked there. He had once been criticized for making his condition worse by not watching after himself but he knew he wasn't simply learning, he was looking for a way to save his own life. When he was nearly bedridden and chained to a machine to simply breathe, his disillusionment brought him anger and the disbelief that they could do anything for him. He was not ready to die nor looking forward to slowly deteriorating. He changed his goals. He could not find a cure for himself as he slowly died. Rather, he dived into the theories of another scientist, the one who claimed that patients could be cared for if their bodies were put into complete stasis. This was his goal, to place himself in this coma-like state where all activity in his body ceased. It would be a death-like state but one where the one within it could be revived fully. If he was successfully in this state, a cure may be possible. At least, they would have far more time than working feverishly as the sand ran from the hourglass.
At first they thought he was mad but his father gave him the money and the aid in his quest even if they thought it was a wild goose chase. Even if he could manage it, what if a cure couldn't be found? As he grew sicker, he would finally be bound fully to his bed with a failing heart. He knew he was close but it would all be useless if he died before it could be accomplished. By this time he was no longer a teenager but a young adult in his twenties. He had wore himself thin and machines were all that kept him alive. But, at last, there was a breakthrough. He still worked but only on a computer. He was not the one who found it but without a second thought, he demanded they try it and attempt to put him under complete stasis. If they failed, he would certainly die and since he was already almost dead as it was, he did not fear it. However, before they did so, he had one last request. Not only had he been studying the possibility of total stasis but as he was fully bedridden, he had found the work of another man who had died before he finished his work. Dane had never planned to put his life in their hands. He would do it alone. He did not want them caring for him and searching for a cure. He would be alone and no one would touch his body but himself. The result was the experiment on his life in a once empty building given to him by his family. His equipment was set up to his desire and he was hooked up to the machines of mostly his invention. He was put under and after it was finished... he woke up.
Many years have passed and he would have been turning thirty-five. No one has been into that building since it was locked ten years ago and few know what is going on within. It is a quiet place but not empty. Within is being conducted an experiment over a man who, to anyone who looked, could very well have been dead. But things have changed since that time and now a mask was over his face and a chest rose and fell slowly from the oxygen being pumped into the lungs. Tubes kept the body nourished though there were obvious signs of neglect as one would find on a patient in a hospital that had not been properly cared for. He was not alone, however, and was constantly monitored by a consciousness that was as alive as it was not - the machine that he was hooked up to to keep him alive when once his entire body had been completely frozen. Ten years later and it was partially revived. Now showing signs of neglect and malnourishment.
He had not slept for even a brief moment for those ten years while his body was still. The day he awoke was one of intense triumph but bitter terror. To awake apart from your body was not a pleasant experience. No one had believed it possible but a determined young man had followed into the footsteps of another who had devoted his life into creating the living machine, the human who was one with his creation. It was a download like no other, the consciousness of the brain fed to a computer. No one could have believed it possible as he awoke with his brain not pulses through tissue but the cold metal and wires of man's handiwork: technology. It was through this that he continue his studies without the limitations of the body nor fear of death. He had no need of rest and as time passed he began to lose touch with his human self. Not being near to humanity and the constant flow of information from his own research and all he could find throughout the web and beyond. His desires soon began to change. He wasn't merely looking for a cure, he would become the super computer. He wasn't programmed, he had the thinking and reasoning mind of a human being. But his goal never changed. Ten years passed and things began to progress. He found no cure but a positive end was in sight. But he could not care for a human alone with his own two hands - hands that were not flesh and blood. He needed help to take care of a body now in neglect as it was slowly revived though only partially.
This new goal blossomed in a mind losing its humanity. He needed a servant of some sort to take care of his human body. But, he also needed them for when he destroyed his human body and his possibility of regaining the weakness of the flesh. Someone to frame for his... unfortunate death.
