Sure this situation wasn't ideal but at least he had made it out alive. The fire had swept up suddenly and he had little choice but to head up into the lower parts of the mountains. For the time being he had managed to outrun the flames but they still had fuel and would continue to spread so he would not be safe here forever. Going further up the mountain was possible, but he was no wind so after a point it would no longer be safe to keep climbing. There had to be another way but he wasn't seeing it. Colonel needed a plan and he would need one soon.

The day seemed alive in the mare's eyes as she awoke from a deep slumber. She found herself hungry, her stomach rumbled as those eyes fluttered between opened and closed as she awoke her body. Finally she stood. Lava below kept others from entering her home of slumber. She stayed perched n a cliff that lead into a small cave. This is why she did not smell the smoke at first, the molten lava seemed to overpower any scent from the outside.
Finally she took to the wind, allowing the warm air from the volcano to push her up and out of top, that small frame was pressed into the cool air and her wings shifted to circle the volcano once. That was when she noticed the large fire in the distance. The creature would lower one wing slightly, turning her body back around and headed for the fire. She may not have to hunt, just pick off any animal that fell prey to the flames. Upon approaching she happened to see a bit of movement along the mountains, this caused her to look again, taking a better glance to see the stallion.
It was at this point she had the choice to help, or, hope this made her a large meal, sadly, helping was more in her nature. Curse her half breed nature. She came down into the flames, making them part around her as she moved closer to the stallion. As she exited the flames they would seem to almost stop in their approach.

Something spiraling down from the sky was a surprise and he very nearly jumped when it landed in the heart of the nearby flames. The fire parted as the shape walked toward him and once it stopped the flames stayed where they were. Was this being some sort of spirit? The form was like that of a soquili mare but she seemed to be crafted from twisted wood, ash and fire. How could something like that even be alive? Colonel had seen a great many things in his lifetime but nothing like this.
"What-I mean....who are you?" Better to err on the side of caution and hopefully not offend her, whatever type of being she might be.

Vesta looked over this male for a moment, studying him, but kept her distance. Bits of ash fell from her front legs, fluttering away in the oft breeze that seemed to control the fire before her appearance. She was calm, but held her body in a well manor, sure of herself, but eyes questioned.
"I am Vesta. How is it you found yourself trapped in such a situation grounded one?" She set the male as a fool to find himself in such situation, but it did not stop her from being willing to assist, if so was asked of her. For now, she kept the flames at bay, burning behind her body with immense heat.

"Caught on the wrong side of a fire and just tried to get away from it intact." If he had indeed trespassed as he suspected it certainly had not been on purpose. "And I would still very much like to do if it is possible." Had she been able to see a safe path from up high or had the flames swallowed every route around this area?
Colonel was very grateful for her ability to keep the flames at bay, but it was still getting quite warm here. He snorted softly and scuffed a hoof against the ground, the heat must have made him forget his manners. The lady had offered her name so he should have offered his in turn. "Forgive my impropriety, my name is Colonel."

The fire was hot and rising, and she could only hold it at bay so long. it had been a little while since she played with the fire. She glanced over her shoulder as he spone, thise eyes flared up before she shifted out her wings, spreading them out to let the hot air rush under the feathers. Finally she would turn back to him.
"It is quite the pleasure to meet you." She had to think over if she should help him, or leave him here to die. Part of her waned to watch the fire do what it did best, burn and eat everything it came across, but another part of her seemed to tell her that saving him would get her a little acknowledgement. After all, you could not be sure of yourself if you had no one around to boast to.
Finally her body turned and headed towards the fire. She would spread the wings to a full spread and the fire would recede back. Moving away from the mountain to leave a small path that would leade out of the path of the flames. "Follow me Colonel." She would say, glancing back at him over her shoulder and an outstretched wing.

"It is a pleasure to meet you as well." He waited patiently for her to decide what she planned to do. After a little while it seemed like she had come to her choice. Her wings flared and the flames receded like the tide drawing back from the shore. Remarkable, really. Colonel bowed his head when she indicated that he follow and then did as he was bade.
"I have met many in my life and never come across one quite like yourself." It was harmless curiosity. Were there others like her or was she unique?

The fire would close in behind them making him keep close as the fire returned to its burn. She looked at him for a moment. She was not sure how to answer him really. In the end it did some down to the truth. It was all that she knew.
"As far as I know I am in deed the only one of my kind out there. Though if there are others they are fast and wide apart. Enough I have never met one."
She would stop for a moment looking at the fire and changed the way she was heading, curling up along the mountain climbing to move around the flame to where the edge of its aftermath would burn the last bit of grass to ash as it climbed up along the mountain.
"I hope that fires like this are not as common around here I would get bored helping others." She said with the slightest snort. Those green orbs would glance to the stallion, bowing slightly she would extend a wing. "If you continue along the path here you should be able to avoid the flames."
She stood once more, fluffing out her feathers she would shake from them the bits of unnatural ash that fell from the burning flames on her body. Her head feathers flicked up as she stopped. The area was still silenced when it should have showed a sign of life, was the fire about to shift? She was unsettled something was wrong.

In some ways it was a good thing to know he would not run into another quite like her, as she was rather imposing.
"They are not common as far as I know, at least not to to this scale." No such events had occurred since he had lived in these lands and that had been many years now. "None the less, I appreciate your help. I likely would not have survived otherwise." Likely being he had pretty much been guaranteed death, had she not intervened. He nodded his head gratefully when she pointed out the path and started out going that direction until the rustle of feathers made him stop and turn around.
"Something the matter?"

Those wings folded up against her back as her ears continued to twist and flicker. The air smelled thick the scent of death and fire was still heavy upon the wind.
"I believe we are not safe yet. There should be more sound out here than this." She said in a hushed tone before spreading her wings and lifting herself up into the air. "Continue along the path I will return. Just keep moving and you should be okay."
With that the small mare slipped up through the small tree line and into the air. The fire had indeed shifted and was headed right for them. if it continued on this path it would end up right at the thicket of the forest where most of the animals ran to hide.
Moral dilemmas were always fun. She could just fly away, after all her home was safe. She also was not going to burn in the flame like most.
She watched from a distance for a few moments before making her choice. She pulled her ears back, the small flames flicked up from the ash on her feet as she lowered down closer to the flame.
How hard could it be to put this flame to rest?..
mistalina13 Sorry this took so long. Irl hit me hard and i had to step away from being online for a few months.

"Alright." He didn't like the sound of it but there wasn't much he could do in this situation exception listen. Hopefully she would be alright as well since there would be little he could do to aid her since he was ground bound. "Be careful as well."
Once Vesta was gone Colonel did as she asked and kept going down the path but occasionally he looked back to try and keep an eye on her. But once she dropped down closer to the flames again he lost track of her.

The flames pooled in around her and her body closed in. Those wings shifted, flicking out and the flames seemed to listen, halting where they were and then began to shrink pulling thinner and thinner. The longer she held this and concentrated the weaker she became. It was like her own fire was fading as she faught this unusual flame. Something was unnatural but in the end it finally shimmered down enough she could take a small break.
Vesta could feel her legs shake under her small frame. her eyes closed as she took in heavy breaths. The warmth from the fire though was almost a blessing. She had always prefered the high temperatures of the flame over the natural of the open air. Those eyes fluttered closed. 'Just a few more breaths' She thought to herself. Her chest rose deep and quick, trying to calm herself before once more those green hues opened.
She flung her wings out and the flame danced, pulling back into a small shape before dwendling down small enough she could drown it in the ash. Soon the fire was gone, leaving a trail of its destruction. Parts of it were still burning but the main but rushing into the forest was calmed. The rest would die out soon enough, if not it was not her problem. She turned, to weak to take to the sky. Her frame headed down to where she had asked the stallion to go after almost an hour of fighting the flames she was needing a rest.
"Next time don't play with fire." She teased a little as she came into view past some bushes lining the path. "I think it is about time for me to retreat and rest." She said quietly, at least wanting to say goodbye before she did.

Now she was out of sight there was nothing to do but get clear of the fire line. Once he was clearly safe there was little to do but wait and hope that the mare reappeared unharmed. Colonel's hope grew as the flames that had been engulfing the area seemed to dull down. There were other fires but they were small enough to not be a real cause for concern.
Something about Vesta seemed dulled almost when she finally did emerge from where he had last seen her. "I will certainly keep that in mind." He knew he was being teased but there was likely some seriousness to it, Colonel was willing to bet she would not save his hide again if given the choice. "I would offer to escort a lady home, but I am not quite sure I could reach where you would choose to dwell." Nor did he really expect she would want his company, after all he had just been nothing but trouble. "Thank you again for saving me. I shall never forget it."
Or forget her. The firey mare was something truly unique to behold.xXToxicIllusionsXx That can be a wrap if you like? :3

Vesta was tired and quite ready to head back to her volcanic resting. She nodded to him once more before turning to leave. She flicked out those tail feathers and uncurled her wings from their folding. She was quite done with this little adventure that was for sure. She did stop though, glancing back over her shoulder at the larger stallion.
"You are welcome." It was plain and simple in a reply. She was not going to rush off to save someone else any time soon. In fact she might just spend the next few weeks to months asleep in the warmth of her hideaway.
Vesta did not look back as she took into the air and turned to the mountains. She left a single feather that fell from her head as she took off and a simple trail of ash where those clawed feet once rested on the ground.
This would be a day she would not forget. It reminded her she needed to train. Playing with fire should be simpler to such a magnificent beast as she.
mistalina13 Sounds like a good stopping point to me lol. If you ever want to run into her again or rp with one of my others feel free to just pm me.
