It was with a sigh of relief that Jasper left the apartment that was now the home of his c*cktail sister Kit and niece Silk. He'd taken some time off from both HQ and his catering gigs to assist them in moving into their own place. Despite everyone having rooms available to them at the Dream residence and at D-T3CH, Jasper's apartment had somehow become THE place for the rest of the family to crash and hangout. He'd managed to convince his Phony brother Roddy to call first, but the girls especially Silk had become something of a bother. Her schedule wherever she worked, and Jasper made a point of not asking, was similar to the bartenders own and she tended to be in the way at all the wrong times. Jasper occasionally would have Jared for a day or two but that was always arranged ahead of time by Tygress and they'd usually spend that time at D-T3CH. Now after only a few days of work, the girls were settled and Jasper had his own apartment to himself to look forward to for the rest of his time off.
As the young bartender walked home, the building being a comfortable walking distance from his own home, but a bit of a trek for the C*cktails, he contemplated what to do with rest of his evening. Dinner was definitely in order and there were several excellent take-out places along the way, but the neighborhood grocery caught his eye. Yes, a night in, a homemade meal and some wine would be the perfect way to celebrate his regained home.
With a grin on his face Jasper walked into the store, grabbed a basket and began browsing for dinner inspiration. Kuuro Kitten figure they can run into each other in the store or outside when he leaves?

Noelani was almost in tears when she jumped out of a red sports car and slammed the door with a resounding grunt. "You're horrible! Do me a favor, lose my number!" She shrieked. The answer she got back was a flippant finger gesture and tires squealing on pavement as the car took off like a shot. That was the most horrible date EVER! Too many times she allowed herself to fall victim to the a*****e with money deal and this time she had hoped it was different. A sweet guy, nice car, decent money... it wasn't like she needed those things. Guys like that just came to her naturally. Working as a stylist she was surrounded by upcoming celebrities on a regular. While they were no Denzel, Arnold or Samuel L, it didn't hurt that they found her attractive or remotely interesting. Only she often found out later in the night that they were all privileged brats with money and surprisingly talent.
This particular night had started out grand and ended on an obvious sour note. With a huff she slipped into her cardigan she was holding and fixed her hair atop her head properly. Having asked to be let out at the store in the first place she could walk home easily from here. D-Tech wasn't too far and beside she needed a few snacks to distract her from another annoying date night.
Once inside the store she moved about plucking chips, dip and a drink from the shelves. She went down the medicine aisle to grab some ibuprofen because she knew a headache wasn't too far behind before the night was out. Wanting some orange juice for in the morning she rounded the corner headed for her last item when she bumped into someone. "Oh excuse me." Trying to keep the annoyance out of her voice she looked up just as recognition etched her features. "Jasper!" It didn't take much but she launched herself at him nonetheless, somehow needing a friend to chase all her annoyances and worries away. "It's so good to see you." Stepping back she observed her friend happily. "How are you?"

Jasper had a nice assortment in his basket, a ring of cocktail shrimp, some mixed greens for salad, and was considering his main course when someone bumped into him. He was in too good a mood to yell and was ready to just move along with a mumbled "No worries," much like his mother, when he looked up and realized this was no stranger but a good friend.
"Noelani!" He reached out with a one armed hug, his other hand taken up by his shopping basket. "It's good to see you, too." He blushed a little as she looked at him; having been moving furniture for most of the day he wasn't exactly looking his best in an old t-shirt and jeans. "I'm pretty good. Just finished helping Kit and Silk move into their place." He paused a bit to take in her appearance. She seemed happy to see him but also a little flustered, "How about you, how are you?"

Rocking on her heels she smiled glad to get her mind off that horrible date. She perked up once he spoke about moving, "Oh well that sounds good. You'll have more space for yourself this time." She smiled fidgeting a little with the fact she was over dressed in a grocery store shooting the breeze with a friend. Shaking it off she looked down at the floor a moment when he asked how she was doing. Aside from a horrible night she could be doing better. "Um.. I'm good... just..." Worrying her bottom lip between her teeth she looked away a moment but then. "Jasper it was so horrible. I keep attracting the worst kind of guys." She sighed with disappointment. "It was the worst of the worst dates from hell."

He watched waiting out her answer to how she was doing. It was looking like he was right about things not being all ok here. "I'm sorry. One thing I've noticed in my work, there are a lot of the "worst kind of guys" out there and they are good at hiding it." Jasper wasn't sure what to say from there and looked down at his basket and at the items Noe had gathered herself. This was probably going to be the stupidest idea ever on his part, but he hated to see a friend down and company wasn't looking so bad to him all of a sudden. "I know the last thing you probably want right now is the company of a guy, but I was just shopping to get a celebratory "my home is mine again" meal. I've been meaning to have you over for a drink sometime, maybe you'd like to join me? Even if just for said drink and some chatter while I cook?" he looked at his basket again realizing what was missing, "Of course I do still need to get something to cook," he concluded with a laugh.

The idea of some company, GOOD company, was a good notion. She gave a relieved sigh and walked along side Jasper. Looking at his basket then hers, she tossed her meager items in his basket and set hers aside. "Lead the way, I'll put half on the dinner. If you let me pick the wine." Though she hoped he didn't have a picky taste in wine. "Um.. do you have any good movies?" Blushing horribly she looked off to the side glaring at cereal boxes and other food items. "I could really do with a conversation, dinner and a good flick."

Jasper also sighed with relief as their usual comfort with each other kicked in. "I do have some wine at home but I have no objection if you want to pick out something of your own while we're out. I really hadn't fully decided on a main dish yet. Any ideas? That might influence the wine choice after all." He wondered at her blush, but just smiled. "I have a few things mostly in the sci-fi or fantasy realm. You know the usual Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, all the recent Marvel comics movies.... and of course Disney movies for when Jared's over. Mom just dropped off a copy of Frozen yesterday."

The idea of a Disney movie was the perfect balm to a sore spot for her evening. "I could do with a fairytale right now." She admitted looking at various food products as they walked down the aisles. "I haven't seen Frozen." She offered as prelude to the possibility of watching it later. Pushing a strand of hair from her face she peeked at Jasper happily while they continued shopping. "So you need help figuring out a dish... hmm." She tapped her finger to her chin in thought. "Maybe a seafood platter, lemon pepper salmon, sweet potatoe and some asparagus? I've had it a while back and it was very good and a filling without over stuffing your stomach." She smiled warmly and then added, "And it goes good with resling."

Jasper was never happier to have a little brother, as Noe seemed to like the idea of watching Frozen. It meant those songs getting stuck in his head again, but that wasn't such a bad thing. "Oh, salmon sounds good and a wonderful wine choice. I have a couple nice bottles at home you can choose from, it'll save us some money here too," he added with a wink as they approached the fish counter. He purchased two nice fillets and the store actually was offering their own premade mix for the lemon-pepper sauce. Jasper looked over the bottle, "It looks good and a time saver," he said offering the bottle over for Noe's opinion.
