This usually means the use of the famous D20. That and some others.
The system allows for everyone to gauge how awesome their character is. For example, Galina the sorceress is pretty cool, but she's
sur-realistic and she won't just roleplay her way to success in everything in the world.
smile Anyway, the game runs with a DM (or GM, nowadays...) who has experience running games. He isn't playing against you, although he IS giving you obstacles. The DM will always be an entertainer- in a good game.
In a bad game, he will actively make your experience unenjoyable.
