While it's certainly true that many of the rooms in the White Queen's Castle are beautiful, there are also a great number of them that are dangerous. Sometimes these categories overlap, but not in the part of the castle you've wandered into. No, this wing houses only dangerous rooms.
Exploding rooms.
- Exit three adjoining rooms without setting off a bomb.
Difficulty level: Easy You may try for this quest THREE TIMES A DAY (if you fail) and CLAIM the prize ONCE A DAY.
Noticing that your surroundings have become increasingly dank and squalid the longer you have continued in this direction, you turn back the way you came, only to hear a faint hiss emanating from the walls around you.
That's a very nice avatar you have there. It would be a shame if something happened to it.
OOC: EXPLOSIONS!
The walls in this portion of the castle were long ago embedded with an assortment of bombs that are as irritating as they are devastating. Step lively or you'll find yourself at their mercy!
In order to escape, you'll need to make your way through three interconnected rooms without setting off any hidden bombs.
- Roll 3d6 and add 1 to each of your results. These are your explosion thresholds for each of the three rooms you'll be traveling through.
- Roll 1d6 in three separate posts to determine if you've escaped each room. If you roll under (or the same as) the number that corresponds to the room you're in from your first post, you have escaped unscathed and may claim your loot without consequence.
- If you roll over any room's threshold, you have been exploded. You are flung out into the hallway, along with a battered chest. Depending on what you roll, the explosion has a different effect on you! Check under the spoiler tag to find out which temporary effect you are suffering from:
3: Flower Bomb! You smell faintly of roses during your next fight or sidequest. In addition, you drop the occasional petal.
4: Emo Bomb! Your hair turns black and limp for the length of your next fight or sidequest. If it's already black and limp, it transforms into a fluffy clown wig.
5: Freckle Bomb! During your next sidequest or battle, your skin is covered in a smattering of freckles.
6: Dinosaur Bomb! For the duration of the next fight or sidequest you partake in, everyone appears to be a dinosaur. Unintelligible roar-speech optional.
- You must write at least 150 words over all of your posts for this sidequest to count, explosion or not. Once you are done, you may claim your prize below.
EXAMPLES!
No Explosions!
In my first post, I roll 2, 4, and 6. My explosion thresholds are 3, 5, and 7 after I have added 1 to each die.
I roll again, 1d6 this time. I must roll a number less than or equal to 3 in order to move on to the next room. I roll a 1. I've passed!
Another 1d6. I must roll less than or equal to 5 this time. I roll a 5. I pass again!
On my last 1d6 roll, I get a 6. Passed again! Yay!

Quest Complete Reward: Treasure trove found! As you step inside, a chest pops open! You open it right up because that's pretty much what you do with treasure chests in games.
This was a peculiar room to say in the least. Shadowstep looked around the white walls before he noticed the surrounding area began to become more dank and squalid. He furrowed his brow at this. Most likely, this wasn't exactly a good way to go. With a shrug, he turned around but then paused. He could hear a faint hissing noise all around.
"..."
At first he thought it was MORE SNAKES.
But no. it didn't sound like snakes. It sounded more like...
"..Kuso!" he started to run.

He was too late. He ended up getting caught in the explosion. And covered with freckles too for that matter. Getting back up, he stared down at himself and rolled his good eye. There was more hissing in the hallway. He still needed to keep moving.

"yes. And apparently my reward is ******** freckles," Shadowstep said irritably. With a shake of his head, he kept running forth. This time, he managed to avoid getting blown up in the process. This was a good thing.
He still had freckles though.

Nightbloom wasn't sure why anyone would possibly want to make an exploding room. Just...how was that at all practical? Grimacing, she eyed the walls and the whole hall warily, shifting from side to side. Well, there was no choice for her but to go forward so...she might as well start.

Now a little more motivated to keep it up, Shadowstep continued on down the hall, narrowly evading getting blasted once more. Once on the other side, he slowed down and let out a breath. He had to keep this hallway in mind to avoid if possible.
Taking off a glove, he looked over his hand. Surely enough, it was still spotted.
He placed his hand to his head, then replaced the glove. Whatever. This wasn't his real body.

This was all kinds of not safe. Honestly, Nightbloom wasn't so sure she wanted to do this, but hell. She was already here and she'd just respawn, right?

Unfortunately, the third bomb exploded as she had expected. As a result, the girl found herself with a most unimpressive hairstyle, her neat, white hair having turned black and limp.
...Well that wasn't going to do.

With any luck, the second time would go better. Bracing herself for potential failure, the girl shook herself off--being blasted into the hallway was by no means pleasant--and then proceeded to head back into the rooms for round 2.

NotAllan approached the rooms with a seedy glance. Exploding rooms eh? Seemed docile enough. She could totally handle this.
She looked to her guildmates with an unsteady grin, and then headed in, eager to find her fortune. Would there be treasure? Would there be fame?
She just wanted to level up, honestly.

It wasn't really a worrisome thing, at first. Robert found the new area was a lot less food-oriented (sad) and a lot more regal. He should have been worried the moment he realized that, but he felt nothing but an exuberant sense of completion. He strolled right into the darkness, slowing only when he started to hear the hissing sound.
Getting up closer to the walls revealed the source. He suddenly missed the Tea Party.

Literally nothing happened.
