He had the hang of this now, he thought. The snake came out of nowhere and SpringTooth grinned up at it with all the fearless bravado a gryphon should have, ability card in hand and eyes narrowed. Pleased. He held up his card again, more casually this time, flicking it with his other hand as he stared up at the beast. "I'm going to crush you so hard, you're...going to be smash." Not his most clever. Oh well. It was not as strong of a start as he'd had in the last battle, that was for sure, but it was just a bit luckier. SpringTooth tried to dodge, failed, grimaced, and patched himself up -- all of it distracting from the actual task of crushing the monster like a bug. As they moved into the next exchange, his eyes narrowed. Trying to look tough but, mostly, looking like the light was too bright for him. No more healing, no more luck, no more fumbling. Instead, as the snake dove at him, SpringTooth whirled and brought a fury of attacks down on the creature's head. His coat flared out behind him, spun and spread, appropriately badass. He would have appreciated it, if he'd realized it was happening. But if he'd realized, then he would have entirely ruined the moment. Was it possible that, this time around, SpringTooth had even more thoroughly reduced the creature to dust? As he attacked again, he seemed more surprised than anyone by how, well, effective he was. Obviously, he had targeted some foes who were too easy, too simple. He would collect his reward and try just one more time. On something harder. Another card; as if he didn't already have more of these than he could possibly use. SpringTooth scowled down at it as he picked it up. He would have preferred XP, or something -- well. Something interesting. Something exciting.
Maybe the next one would yield more results.
