"It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards." "What sort of things do you remember best?" "Oh, things that happened the week after next."
There are many cells in the Queen's dungeon, but there are a few that pose no danger to any visitors that come their way.
This is one such cell.

- Look into pool for a hint at your future. - This is a DAILY QUEST. You may do this quest once per DAY
Difficulty level: Easy
In the cell is a large, stone fountain, filled to the brim with a shimmering liquid. Its colours dance and change, reflecting off of the stone bricks of the cell.
There is a table next to it, with a wide array of teacups, as well as a steel ladle. Carved into the wood are two little words:
DRINK ME.
OOC: THE LOOKING POOL Taking a sip of the liquid causes your character to fall asleep and experience a dream about their true self's possible future. You retain the memory of the dreams after waking up! Think of it as a window into what could be. You are welcome to do this side quest in a party. Only one person has to roll, and the others participants are merely witnessing and reacting to the dream. To make it happen, just take a drink at the same time and quote each other! When taking a drink, roll a 10-sided dice. If your dice roll is a duplicate, you may PICK one of the results below. This result is your drabble prompt. If you get stumped, you may reroll once as well! A drabble prompt means you will edit your post with the roll and write a short FUTURE for your character with the result roll as your THEME. So for instance, if I roll 6, I have to write a short drabble reaction involving what COULD be, if your worst nightmare came to pass. A drabble means it is basically a "stream" of words, so freestyle writing, however you want to write it. It is a minimum of 50 words. - It MUST be future oriented, about something that hasn't happened yet! It can be ANYTHING, and it does not have to be actually possible. It is a dream: go wild! - If your character has absolutely no backstory, write about someone close to them instead and their reactions involving them. You can make up a character for this exercise, that is pertinent with your character. Drabble Prompts: Results:1: Your own death plays out before you, caused by a betrayal. 2. You have returned to somewhere from your past, for closure or something else. 3: Your faction has finally won against all the others, at the end of a war. You helped in the final battle. 4: You have become the most powerful entity in this world. What do you do with that power? 5: You see yourself happy in a relationship-- with someone you currently disdain. This can be a platonic ship! 6: Your worst nightmare/fear has come true, no matter how illogical it might seem. 7. Someone you love is dying in front of you, and it is your fault. 8. Your most hated enemy is asking-- no, begging-- for your assistance. You could help them, but... 9. You are somewhere where you've always wanted to go, but something is wrong. 10: You are running, and have been for some time. But from what? You only have to do one! Once you are done, and these drabbles are COMPLETED, go ahead and claim your prize below. Quest Complete Reward: Treasure trove found! As you step inside, a chest pops open! You open it right up because that's pretty much what you do with treasure chests in games.

Due to the Level-Up Fanfare that sounded, like, 10 times in a row, Borg slipped on the stairs when exploring the Castle... -and found himself in this strange room-no, cell. In the cell is a large, stone fountain, filled to the brim with a shimmering liquid. Its colours dance and change, reflecting off of the stone bricks of the cell. There is a table next to it, with a wide array of teacups, as well as a steel ladle. Carved into the wood are two little words: DRINK ME. Well, should he? "But I'm thirsty anyway so yep." He scooped the liquid, poured it into a cup and poised - "Toast." Before downing it in one gulp. Bad choice. Drowsiness attacked as soon as he gulped the liquid. His vision turned black--- And his body hit the ground with a 'thud'. Darkness. He is chased. By who?
He looked back and found many, many persons chasing him.
Most of them are civilians that bore no weapons.
Some are policeman, army and other law-abiders.
But why are they chasing him?
Freak. Freak. Freak. FREAK FREAK FREAK FREAK FREAK.
The stream of insults assaulted him. Why?
"-huh!?" But he awoke and found that all of that is only a dream. A frighteningly, awfully realistic dream. The Level-Up fanfare shocks him back into reality, though. Or actually, Wonderland. Still partially shaken from that dream, he decided to leave this place. OOC GuildBattle CalculatorMy character's username: Undying=Borg My character's level: 39+50EXP + 3 = 42+50EXP! The dungeon was an interesting place and n0ms found herself peeking through door after door, looking inside to see if there was anything interesting that she could get her hands on. It was better than being asked personal questions anyways. This was one of those more interesting ones and she walked inside, looking at the water.
She had been thirsty as of late and was smiling at the thought of taking a drink. Bouncing over towards it she stopped to read the sign with a grin. "Why I don't mind if I do..." She said, cupping her hands into the water and taking a sweet sip of the water. The refreshed feeling would be gone as she fell asleep, her body slumping against the wall of the cell, her mind beginning to wander.
Gigantic. That was what she was now. She was sitting in a gilded chair with an amused grin on her face, tasting one of the treats on the table in front of her. There was a power zipping through her as she placed another large treat into her mouth, twisting a long lock of hair. Clearly she was the largest being within miles and smiled down at some smaller beings as they carried over another plate, to which she took the food off of. "Why thank you." She said with gratitude, grinning again to herself.
There was no other satisfaction to her to have this happen. She protected them, they fed her, what other power could there be? Even on her shoulder she could see a familiar figure and she pet his head with a finger. "I'm glad you're here." She spoke softly, watching the line of plates come forward.
Truly, she was happy.
Slowly she opened her eyes and a grin was on her face and she stretched out, yawning before she stood. It felt wonderful and she was stuck smiling, standing up with a happy squeak. She felt like it could happen maybe, someday. Maybe she would find it if she continued.MY STATS My character's username: n0mn0ms Card: 6 of HeartsCharacter's HP: 40/40 My character's level: 38 Character's Job Class: Cheshire Cat Wraith Current party: None Current Guild: None Location: [insert] Small IC description of character: n0mn0ms (aka n0ms) is a 4' 11'' petite girl with white hair, wearing the blue and black uniform of the Chesire Cat. Quote: 7. Someone you love is dying in front of you, and it is your fault. In the real world, Gravity would not be eating and drinking all these strange things eft lying around for him. It was illogical. Dangerous. Stupid. But this wasn't the real world. He was in a dream, shaped to look like a game. So when the sign said drink me, he did just that. He took a sip from the cup provided, and felt himself slip away from consciousness. A dream taking place within a dream. Nevada again. He walked in to find her on his bedroom floor. Thin, skin and bone, barely breathing. She'd not been eating, because he'd avoided hassling her. He didn't want to upset her, and this was the result. He'd let her do this to herself. He ran to her, collapsed at her side. There was nothing to her anymore. Nothing of the woman he loved. "Please.. Nevada, please, come on!" She could form no words. No voice. Barely a breath. He did this. His passiveness did this. His fear of being disliked. He should have been harder on her. He should have been harder on himself. It was all on him, and he blew it. As always. A screw up. A useless, worthless nobody. " Please, I'm sorry!" Let him try again? One do over. One more chance. That's not how life worked, though. ((Someone you love is dying in front of you, and it is your fault.)) Trex was in a low mood as he wandered the castle by himself, so he was not surprised when he found the dungeons, or the glittering fountain. Drink Me? Well why not, he had already sampled enough of this game's food to know it probably wouldn't kill him. Or if it did he would probably just come back. The kid thought perhaps even if he didn't, that would be okay too. So he ladled some of the water into a teacup and took a sip. Then, like a comforting blanket slipping around him, he slumped against the cell wall and fell asleep. It was grey out, somewhere between afternoon and night... Not dark, but not light. He couldn't see much beyond the light of the highbeams. The rain beat against the roof of the car, a soft staccato that mingled with the melodic sound of the radio. It was playing a song from his childhood. He had sung this one with his mom and dad. When he was little. From the passengers seat he could see the road ahead, a familiar and altogether different sight. There was a sense of deja vu about the whole scene. He felt comfortable, sleepy even, confident that the driver next to him would see them home safe. And then it appeared out of the fog. The shadow was huge and black, tearing it's clawed fingers into the hood of the car, and the shriek of warping metal and shattering glass screamed in his ears. He felt the plastic and metal and leather distort around him, until he was cut and broken... but the driver... The shadow reached in through the broken windshield with long fingers, and plucked out the driver. It made no sense, but he knew it was his fault. His dreaming mind struggled to piece it together, it was his fault, he was small and helpless, and couldn't take on this shadow no more than he could have stopped that driver years ago. If he hadn't insisted on going out- No, if he had been strong enough to destroy that dark creature... The past and dream-future seemed to blend together, both confusing and painful. He would never be able to shake it off... Walking through the dungeons at a quick pace, Jack_Blue was lead to a cell with a stone fountain in the middle of it. It was a odd place for such a thing to be, and as such she walked closer, looking over the stone edge into the water. It's colors sparkled and danced, memorizing the gryphon. She tore her gaze away and found a few teacups on a table, along with a ladle with a sign that clearly said she could drink the water. Well, why not? pouring herself a cup with the ladle, she took a sip- The waters were cold and dark, offering no warmth or solace, not even a chance of escape. In front of her floated Wilson, the person who had once commanded her and one whom she considered a friend. His air was running out, and she could see him struggling to survive just that much longer. There was no way out. She had brought him here, and now she was fated to watch as he would struggle and struggle until he stopped. - With shaking hands, she place the teacup down and ran out of that cell with everything she had. Drink Me, read the sign. The fountain shimmered and colors echoed off of the tiles, making the faerie's eyes dance with amusement. Hmm, how curious. Should he follow the sign? Reaching out and cupping his hand to gather a bit of the liquid, the hatter lifted it and dribbled a little into his mouth, tongue shifting back as he allowed the liquid to slide down his throat. Almost instantly, he saw Sharra. He started at first, blinking away confusion as the other reached out for him, yearning on his face. Sharra took a step forward, towards Feytouched. Feytouched stepped back. Disdain showed on his face towards the other, lips curving downward into a pout. "... how dare ye?" His fingers curled into a fist. "She counted on ye, how dare ye?" Shaking his head, the faerie turned and walked away, disappointment filling his whole body. He blinked, hard, and started, raising his head and realizing he'd been asleep. How long had he been out? Sliding his gaze to stare at the fountain, he shook himself awake and stood, frowning. He'd disliked Sharra for the way he treated Yaya, but at least... they'd found each other. But where had the nergal demon gone? Curiouser and curiouser... But it might have been the worst.
For it seemed an instant later he couldn't remember the joys he had. His world? No, it wasn't in tatters. His expression was grim, held taught as he tapped idly on a desk. The figure before him squirmed, knowing there was no escape. After all, he had no feelings. He couldn't be reasoned with.
"And that's your excuse for it?" The familiar tone he used when displeased escaped him as he shook his head, lifting a hand. "Get out, don't return." He didn't need anyone useless. He didn't need anyone. He was entirely competent on his own. Why bother with peons who couldn't even do that much for him?
Another sigh as his hand slipped to the drink at his side, sipping it.
Even his brother didn't visit anymore... no one did. He recalled them vaguely from school. But they'd drifted away soon after. What friends they were? ...but, even if they came now. He was so stuck in his ways. He'd just have turned them away.
But it really had been so long. He- ...no it was pointless to muse over what wouldn't happen. He had work to do. And tomorrow the same. And the day after. And... perhaps forever?OOC My character's username: Frostpaw My character's level: 48 Character's HP: 40/40 Character's Job Class: Cheshire Cat Wraith Current party: Current Guild: Raiders of the Lost Ark Location: Small IC description of character: (See image on the left) 5'7" male, a tad on the femenine side with appearances. After a long while exploring she felt thirsty again. She remembered the pool of cold, clean water and decided to visit it once more. Looking down into the pool she took the liquid to her lips and sat down near it, allowing herself to fall asleep quickly. The last dream had been a nice one, what would this one bring?
A storm overhead jolted her as she stood outside a familiar scene. Her childhood home stood in the distance and the door fluttered open and shut in the wind of the storm. As she could remember she had been standing in that doorway during this, not out on the hill where she was now. It was perlexing and not a memory she enjoyed going back to.
It looked like it was coming to her though.
The path she was on came from the house and a figure moved on it, approaching her slowly. With wide eyes she could barely believe who it was. "Y-you?" Her brother slowly moved towards her and stopped near her, turning to look back at the house and forward again. He didn't speak, he didn't move but there was a look of shock and dismay on his face as his arm clutched tightly to a duffel bag. In the stillness of the moment n0ms felt her heart pounding.
"Why..." She began, looking him over. A deluge of emotion that had been pent up quickly came out and she felt the large tears fall. "Why are you leaving? Go back. I'm waiting there, so just go back while I am..."
He didn't move.
"Damn you!" She said. Swearing was never part of her vocabulary but she could feel it falling apart inside as seeing the memory. "Go back, you have to go back... don't you know what it does? What it did?" Her voice croaked from the tears. "You have to go back."
"I can't go back." His voice shook her, but it didn't seem that he was speaking to her but rather he had turned his gaze away, to himself. It surprised her as he was gritting his teeth and fighting back his own tears. "It's better this way, I'm sorry... Mea. You'll have to be strong without me." With a shake of his head he moved beyond her, beyond the trail and far out of sight while n0ms stared after him.
With a jolt her body woke up and she jumped into standing, clenching her hands tightly to her skit and breathing hard. "Huh?" She looked around and could only see the pool and the water, shaking her head and feeling her face to make sure she was awake. "I..." No words could describe it and she turned away silently, walking back through the dungeon again. It had been jarring and she wasn't sure what to make of it. She really didn't want to come back and have to drink the water...but it DID offer level upgrades, and she wanted to get stronger, so... With hesitant hands, she scooped up some of the fountain water her teacup, taking a moment to admire the sparkling colors it contained, she took another sip. - She felt the cold steel underneath her boots, and saw the familiar hi tech doors and rooms of the white kingdom spaceship. But it wasn't just that; as she approached one of the windows she realized she couldn't see the ground, and upon running outside she felt the wind fresh in her face as the ship sailed through the sky. It wasn't broken! Her chest swelled with excitement, but then paused in her celebration. Something wasn't right... "Hello?" She called out. "Anybody here?" She ran around the ship, called and shouted, but found there was no one here. The ship was a ghost ship, because she was the only one who wanted to travel on it. - Well, all things considered - This vision wasn't as bad as the previous one, but it still left her with a feeling of loneliness. Unconsciously she tugged at the ring around her finger, before walkig away from the cell. Well, metaphorically. He already did that physically.
He saw himself sitting with two other boils, ones he neither knew nor fancied. Nearly strangers. It felt so pleasant, wrapped up in their warmth as they all took a lazy summer nap. Lock's colder heart could've exploded listening to the lazy thump of Hades' tail and the occasional click click click of Puppet's joints settling-
Shadow immediately spat out the liquid, hoping the liquid would fade as quickly as possible.

He wondered if he should actually follow the directions.
Eating food in this dreamland had certainly led to some strange consequences, some more disastrous than others. But some had also helped him along in this journey, and Hades found himself giving in and reaching for the ladle.
"You have to go, sir." A voice yells out. Screams fill the air, as well as the sound of flesh ripping apart. And there is the smell of blood. So much blood. Metallic and tangy and horrible.
He doesn't even think. He grabs her hand, clasping her soft small hand protectively and runs, without even looking back. She runs alongside him, other hand hiking her kimono up so she can run easier. "We should talk sense into him." She gasps, her tone full of worry.
"I tried. I could never connect with him again after our parents decided that I..." He stops mid-sentence as frenzied howls fill the air behind them and tugs her forward. It is strange, he thinks, to have so much fear rising within him, and the cause of that being that of a man that was one of the few he held close and dear.
"Go." He says then, shoving herself forward. "I can't let him. I can't let him destroy everything in this mansion." She looks back at him, tears filling her eyes as she reaches out for his hand. "I have to do this."
"You must come back to me." She pleads, and he nods.
He turns then, just in time to see his brother. The oldest out of them three, and the tallest, and always known as the one with the most physical prowess. "Arthur." He breathes, brown eyes round with shock as he takes it all in; his brother drenched with blood; the face that looked so much like his contorted in rage. "Arthur, please. You can't do this."
The man before him snarls. "Don't pretend like you care, Erebus."
"Of course, I do."
Arthur bursts into maniacal laughter, taking slow steps towards him. "Really? Really?! Then tell me, Erebus. Tell me why you accepted your position as heir without any question. Tell me why you took my place, that was rightfully mine, and still is!"
He doesn't exactly know how to respond. It is not because he does not have an explanation for it all, but it is because they have tried. They have tried laying all the facts before him, pleading him to get help for his condition, but he has always dismissed it. No answer would satisfy him.
"The family company is an important one, Arthur. One I would protect with my life. But you are my brother, and I have never wanted this wedge driven between us."
"Then would you give it all up?" Arthur's eyes glint as he moves closer.
He hesitates but finally manages out, "...If you prove yourself."
"Fine." The answer shocks him, and he blinks at his older brother. There is confusion, slight skepticism, but also an overwhelming sense of hope and--
A dagger plunges deep into his side and twists. He finds everything turning cold and dark before him and he looks at Arthur in desperation.
All he sees is a cold smirk as he pulls out the weapon, and blood gushes out from the wound. "I think that's proof enough. Don't you think so, brother?"
No, he tries to gasp out, but he finds that he cannot speak. No. No no no no no...
He found himself jerking awake, brow cold with sweat and heart full of dread. It was just a dream. Just... a... dream...OOC My character's username: HadesKnight My character's level: 43 Character's HP: 40 Current party: Current Guild: The White Rose Garrison Location: Small IC description of character: RABBIT (now with a cloak!) Quote: 10: You are running, and have been for some time. But from what?
She should have known better than to drink or eat strange things in this Wonderland by now. Every time she did, without fail, something happened. Whether it be she become big or small, change colors, think of memories, think of nightmares, have to chase strange things and deal with talking trees over and over again, but it seemed against her better judgement, Serafina kept doing it anyway. When she felt the strange vision start to come on, she closed her eyes, letting it play in front of her eyes and immerse her in the experience.
She was running. Her legs wouldn't stop, taking her across the pathways. She didn't recognize where she was. None of it seemed familiar, and honestly? She didn't care. Did she even know where she was anymore? Did she even know where anyone was anymore? She didn't even know she had the stamina to keep going, perhaps driven by the only bits of adrenaline she had left leaking in her bones. She couldn't slow down. If she slowed down, they would catch her, and she would be turned into something she didn't want to be.
And so she had to keep running, had to keep running until she could find her escape and go back to her home, in Halloween, in Amityville, where she would be safe once again.
Her curiosity had absolutely gotten the best of her. Why did she think it would be a good idea to even attend the human world? The Hunters had seen her, and they knew what she was. They wanted to destroy her, didn't they? Or perhaps, they would do even worse-- And she knew she didn't want that, of all things, to happen to her. She couldn't let it. If that happened, she would no longer truly be ... herself, and the prospect of such a thing was more terrifying than the idea of death itself. After all, it was hard to kill what was already dead, and she was a ghost...
But she needed to keep running. There had to be a place where she could go, right? A place where she could go to escape the suffering she was attempting to outright.
She couldn't stop, couldn't stop until she figured out how to get home again.
