Sometimes when Taime'sooja stretched out in the grass he would imagine he was flying in the sky like the birds above. Or possibly even floating in the ocean, like one little fish in a huge river that spanned an eternity. Though he'd never seen the ocean, he knew of it's splendor through tales and hoped that one day his own children would be able to venture to it as he could not.
Though he took trips away from his pride, he would never go too far and never for long. A wanderer's blood made up his veins, and with his head in the clouds he dreamed, restless in the sparse, dry grass around him. The day was fresh and bright, something he'd not seen in a while, but so warm, far too warm for dark fur.
Still, he did not move. Whether Taime was too tired or simply too lazy to move was up for debate, but in any case he counted clouds, debating on their shape and origin.

There was a wonderful old wives tale among the gypsies in her pride that spoke of a hidden cave out in the rogue lands (or at least a land that was rogue at the time of the original story was told). As most fairy tales one is told as a cub, one is supposed to dismiss it as a story like the lioness who kissed a toad and it magically turned into a royal prince for her to wed. And Rani'kob did write it off as she was supposed to, that was until her own cubs begged her to retell the story over and over again, convinced it was a tale of fact. Each time it was retold they expected a new piece of information, eventually the mother lioness had to ask around for more facts. Now that her cubs were all grown, Rani'kob began to question the nature of it's truth. Why couldn't it be true? Each time she was on a heist with the Thunderbirds or with one of her daughters, she would go off for some alone time. In this alone time she would make contacts, ask questions about the 'cave of wonders', and even befriend one or two males along the way. Today on this heist, she was with her daughter Swift, whom was thankful to get away from her mother for a little while in all honesty. Their relationship was... Tense to say the least. Walking along the edge of some dry grass, Rani'Kob's eyes narrowed in on the black and neon green ink-blot in the distance and tilted her head momentarily in thought. Without any hesitation, she cleared her throat and called out to him or her. "Excuse me.. Could I ask you some questions? I don't mean to interrupt anything!"

Taime rose hazily from his napping spot, and turned soft violet eyes towards the blurred shape. As his vision cleared from the sleepy fog, he realized that what he was looking at was a dark lioness, with a mane as vibrant as his own. Yawning as he stretched, Taime dipped his head, only to bring it back up as he rolled around to stand.
"No, no, no interruptions." He smiled, giving in to one last little yawn. When had he fallen asleep? His father would have had stern words against sleeping in the open, and more so about talking to strangers in a foreign land, but then, he wasn't here, was he? Taime moved in closer to speak with her, moving his gaunt frame as languid as a cloud through the grass. "What kind of questions do you have?"

"Oh gosh, I'm sorry, I seem to have woke you up." Wait.. Her face contorted, this male must not have been to wise if he was sleeping in the middle of the day out in the middle of nowhere. When he stood up her heart fluttered briefly, as her eyes scanned his dark pelt and rested on his bright marking under his dark, sultry eyes. Then Rani realized she had been staring and visibly shook herself. "What? Oh! Questions! Yes, haha." Nervously she chortled. Thank the gods her daughter was around to mock her. "Geography questions. Have you heard of a cave in the middle of an oasis, surrounded by a desert in the shape of a panther?"

Taime just smiled and laughed. "It's alright, I shouldn't have been napping away, anyway. Bad form, especially when I stick out so much, don't you think?" In reality they were both slightly odd, given the landscape. He hadn't missed the way her eyes hand lingered on him, or the way those golden orbs had shone. It was odd, since he normally wasn't one to garner attention, at least not in that way, but pleasant.
"Hrm, a cave you say?" How was he to politely tell her he didn't live around here? She might leave then and the thought left a bitter taste in his mouth. Still, her oddly specific question made him frown. "I've heard of a cave in the middle of an oasis, but I'm not sure the desert was in the shape of a panther." It wasn't a lie; he HAD heard of such things, but it was all hear say. He'd also heard stories of pink elephants and flying ratels.

Whoops, her words got jumbled up again. But this was the first lead she had in several weeks and a few heists. "I meant the cave in the shape of a panther, sorry. But really, a cave in an oasis? Could you take me there?-- Oh, Sorry! I'm getting ahead of myself.. I'm Rani'Kob, may I ask who you are, Studly?" Why mouth.. Why must you run away without me?! Of course she didn't mean to call him a pet name, sure he was quite studly, but that's not what she meant to say! If she chased him away, her only cute lead on the cave of wonders she wouldn't forgive herself easily.

Oh gosh, what had he gotten himself into? Taime chuckled a bit, an awkward flush on his cheeks that only served to darken the already dark fur. "I can lead you in the right direction, but I can't go all the way with you; I'm sorry, but that's too far away from my pride." Kipenzi, while not his mate or lover, was like a second mother to him and would skin his hide if he went too far away. It was amusing, considering he WAS within the same age bracket as herself, but he never fussed it.
"Studly?" He all, but squeaked. Coughing, he cleared his throat, "Please, no need for titles." Taime grinned. "My name is Taime'sooja, but for a goddess like you, Taime is just as good." Uh, that was smooth, right? "Ha..Have you been searching for this cave for very long?"

So this black and green lion belonged to a pride, what a pity. That meant this love line was meant to be short, but maybe that increased the passion the two could share? Who knows what the tricks the fates had up their sleeves.. "And such a charmer. Well, I wouldn't want to get you into any trouble, Taime. I could be a goddess, but only time shall tell if my true colors will be revealed." She chuckled, spinning a little riddle. But then she came back to the conversation. "Only a few years on and off between trips from my own pride."

It was so odd, having someone so close that flirted so openly with him...well, that wasn't his lady friend, but she was just a friend and now this female. Oh jeez!
"A little cryptic, aren't you?" He flashed a grin. Taime wished such a female lived back in the Mountains, so that he wouldn't have to eventually part ways with her. "Which pride are you from, if you don't mind me asking?" Maybe he was closer to pridal lands than he originally thought.

She thought it was a little obvious where she came from, but none the less it was a good sign that the male did not jump to conclusions that could be very unflatteringly incorrect. Rani smiled in a coy, alluring way, attempting to ease Taime out of any discomfort she may be causing. "I'm from Kizingo'Zaa, I'm a thief." Rani fought her instincts to speak plainly, but it could only last so long.. "But fear not, Studly, I shall not rob you of any dignity or honor. For you I may just be a gift, or perhaps a respite from any troubles weighing on your shoulders." The black lioness circled around the male with a very subtle purr, letting her tail tuft drag along his sides behind her; coming around to his ear she whispered, "or maybe a new experience.."

Her smile sent little shivers down his spine. There hadn't' been a day in his youth that he thought any female would look at him like that, and now...well, now he couldn't keep the little bounce out of his paws. He was acting like just a cub again!
"A thief?" He squawked, then coughed, clearing his throat and attempted a more confident smile. "A gift and more I'd say. You've given far more than anything you've taken." If he stepped around the whole thieving part, she was awfully charming, but...she wasn't trying to cheat him now, was she? No, no...maybe. No!
Taime's opaque eyes followed her, his body leaning into her soft touches. When she came to his ear he smile, leveling a soft, yet thoroughly excited gaze her way. "What did you have in mind?"

It was times like this Rani knew it would be very difficult for her to be faithful to one mate for her entire life, the first time was always so exciting! They had to figure out what worked and what didn't on the fly, letting bodies do the talking. Well, maybe not all the talking. One mate would bore her to death after a few years! "Follow me, big boy, I'm sure we can figure something out.." She trailed off playfully, with a wink. Rani turned around and lead him to a little cave she had passed before meeting up with him for a bit of privacy.
