As far as a modern day prophet, the Bible says quite a bit about this. Here is an example I found in Acts 2:17-21, where Peter refers to the words of the prophet Joel. This is taken from the English Standard Version.

17'And in the last days it shall be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams;
18 even on my male servants and female servants
in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;
20 the sun shall be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood,
before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.
21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'

I myself have been having dreams and visions given to me by God, as well as many other people. All of them have been regarding the Apocalypse. This is not meant to scare anyone, and I do not expect anyone to believe me. All I ask is that you keep an open mind and an open heart and, above all, to ask God!

I have had many dreams about the four blood moons coming in the next few years. God has revealed to me that the sixth seal of the apocalyptic document in Revelation 6:12-17 is going to be broken on one of these blood moons, possibly even next month. Again, I have used the English Standard Version.

12 When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood,
13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale.
14 The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.
15 Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains,
16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,
17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”

God has been urging me to share my dreams particularly about a tsunami hitting the coast of California. He said, "The first wave shall be a warning; the second, Judgment."

I ask that anyone who reads this would test it according to God's word. I also will never give out my full name, as I do not wish for any credit to go to myself for what the Lord is doing in my life.

Thank you and have a blessed day!

That particular chapter of Acts 3:1-47,
Deals with the apostle Peter's Sermon on the Day of Penticost;
which was after Christ Jesus was resurected and had ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand side of the Father, and after Jesus had talked to Peter and 499 other people when He walked out of the borrowed tomb and preached, teached, broke bread with everyone around and told Peter to go and wait upon a gift from God to be there in Jesus' stead as a comforter, which was the gift of the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit to dwell amoung us/inside of us (Those who are saved and redeemed by our Lord Jesus) or those who are believers of the Salvation and Redeemtion gift by Christ Jesus to all of mankind- The Holy Spirit is to be a comforter to those who believe and is to guide,direct and bring rememberence of all things of God until Christ Jesus does come back and calls His bride, His church, His body of believers home to heaven and glory.
But now back on subject per what text of the Bible you used to make the statement of being a prophet.

Now if we look to the book of
1 John 4:1-21 and 1 John 5:1-21;
In the book of 1 John 4:1-21 it speaks of "In the end days that there will be many false prophets" right out of the hat in verse one of 1 John 4:1-21.

I don't know if it is still listed in this guild in one of the sub forums or what...
("CONSIDER THIS A FAIR WARNING")

I wrote up a very well 'Spirit led' piece that states "Beware of False Prophets and to test all things per the word of God the Holy Bible."

Even dropped it into several guilds as well as this one.
What you are saying could be true..
Then again it could all be hog wash!
Just like the man who had won a lottery and spent every dime telling all of the world that the Lord was coming back in May a few years ago.

All that I do know is this.
Jesus said that He would return one day, and that no man, no woman, no enity, or even saten himself would know the day, the hour, the minute, or the second that the Lord Jesus would return.
But we as Christians must live each day as if it was the day that Jesus our Lord and Savior, and Redeemer will be coming back!

Have a nice day!
Coop

BTW-All my scripture comes from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.

Mister Cooper,
I have read your post warning us of false prophets, and I agree completely. I seem to recall a certain religious leader implying that Atheists can go to Heaven too, as long as they do good works. The Bible says the exact opposite in John 14: 1-14. I have used the English Standard Version.

1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
4 And you know the way to where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.

12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

I couldn't find any information on this man you mentioned who won the lottery. Could you send me a link to where I can find more information on this?

Also, as for my own dreams and visions, there are many others who are also having very similar dreams. Here is a link to where one such person has documented his dreams.

I also agree with you that no one knows the exact time when Jesus will return. Which is why I never said I did. I have also encouraged anyone who reads this post to test my words with what is said in the Bible.

God bless!
