After doing a lot of grandstanding in the previous fight, killsteal proceeded to be absolutely useless in the first bout against the mob.
To be fair, it was cheescake and he was baffled.

The fact that Mr. Tall, Dark and Grumpy was baffled by cheesecake was totally legit. Kousagi was quick to forgive him his confusion, especially when her doting friend came onto the scene. "AH! HI DARCY HIIIII!" She shouted with a wave and a grin. To show him she had gotten better since their last fight she scurried up to the cheesecake and struck it once with her whip before she ran back to him. "Cheesecake! Oh dear gods, he somehow found the same party as last time. Who hated him and why. "Yes, sapient meals, absolutely terrible," the gryphon drawled as he slashed at the cheesecake, messily cutting a layer completely off.
His paws were promptly coated with icing and doughy bits that, upon sniffing and licking, he found somewhat agreeable. "This is hardly what I would call an enemy."

Since she was pretty much a healer and had greeted him in a friendly manner - the girl got a benefit of him defending her from the next series of attacks for a few moment, while he gave the creature a good thwack.

At some point, Puppetking decided to jump in and assist with the fight.
And by that, he meant take out the rest of its HP despite the fact he is a healer and is supposed to heal. A chirpy noise of thanks was given to Darcy as he protected the mouse, along with a few pats on his arm for an additional dose of doting. Perhaps a pointed look of 'Look what being nice gets you' tossed over to the other man's way, but it was cut short when another dormouse swept in and defeated the monster.
Kousagi turned to him and stared quietly for a moment before she nearly burst with sparkles, trotting over.
"Woooooow that was amazing and so cool WOOOOOW!" They could be friends now right.

...Oh now this was awkward and not at all expected.
The boy had intended on just jumping in and out of the fight, never imagining that anyone would actually try to talk to him. Suddenly looking a little awkward, he lift a hand to rub at the back of his neck, gaze flickering to the girl and then again.
"It was nothing," He grumbled gruffly, "Now if you'll excuse me..."

killsteal simply gave the upbeat dormouse a dirty look. As if one needed to be defended to win.
The second one who cropped up in time to kill steal killsteal's kill recieved a raised brow for the healing--though it wasn't as if it was misplaced. He grunted as a sign of (possible) thanks before crouching to collect his loot.
