Xanthous yawned and stretched at the first small rays of dawn. His preferred time of day, believe it or not. However, his head throbbed a bit and his eyes felt heavy. His body felt... exhausted? What had happened last night?

Confused at the way his body protested against most forms of moving, he rolled over, turning his droopy eyes to the pillow opposite him.

At first, Xan merely blinked at the blue-bodied beauty that slept there, but he quickly found himself wide awake and blinking wide-eyed at the still sleeping figure.

What the hell happened last night?!

As quietly as he could muster, he slipped out of bed and stepped out of the room, carefully closing the door behind him. He paused there a moment, going over everything in his head.

So. He went to Venus' party last night. Check. Met an amazing woman. Check. Flirted with said woman? Check... And then.... then it got a bit blurry. It was like he was drunk and only remembered flashes of the night in small spurts. Oh heavens, help me...

He ran a hand through his hair a moment as he walked down the small hallway. Clearly, he took her back to the beach cabin at some point. His dad's old, dusty seashells were still strewn about like prized - but long forgotten - knick-knacks.

Wait a minute... Now he remembered. He did bring her here. To get away from those crazy snake things that crashed Venus' party (and his good time). He pivoted a bit, only just now realizing that his leg was a bit stiff....? Oh, right. The baby bite...

He smirked a bit at the thought. He never thought of that phrase as really meaning anything. Baby bite... He chuckled quietly at the repeat. He then sighed. So, he brought her back here. There was more flirting and then.... His eyes widened and his cheeks glowed a bright orangey-pink. Oh, no....

Face met palm for a moment. He couldn't have... really?! Clearly, the memory was there, despite the fuzziness and how unreal it all played out in his mind. Oh, heavens...

He grumbled quietly and turned to the kitchen. He needed a drink.... damn. The kitchen would be empty. The cabin hadn't been in much use lately. He'd been flitting about on the other side of the island, lately. And his 'Father' had long since retired to Telrunya City. He turned again, knowing of a few wild (and safe) fruit trees nearby.

As quietly as a mouse, he tip-toed his way out the front door and made his way to the trees. It wasn't long before he returned with an arm-load of fruits of various flavors. He silently hoped she was still asleep so that he could maybe attempt to make her breakfast in bed. Chances were high that she'd be as shocked as he was whenever she woke up in his bed. The least he could do was alleviate some of that possible panic with some tasty fruits native to the island.

Fortissimo rolled onto her back and opened her mouth wide for a loud (when is she not loud? >3> fufufufu) and drawn out yawn. She reached her hands high above her head, stretching from finger tip to hoove tip. In an exhausted sigh she let all the tension go and flopped back down. It took her a moment longer to blink her eyes open blearily, looking a bit bewildered as she took in the scene around her. She had woken up quite a few times in the tree unsure of where she was, but soon remembered it was her new home. This, though, was certainly not the tree room she was now calling hers.

Her green eyes took a moment to focus on the scene around her, her mind taking even longer to catch up to it. When her mind had somehow surfaced from its slumber it wondered why she was so darn groggy. She had no energy to move, think, or even maintain wakefulness right then. It was having a hard time registering the fact this wasn't her room, and tried lulling her back into slumber- this wasn't her room. Her eyes shot open again as they moved wildly about the room taking everything in. This wasn't the tree.

This wasn't the tree!

She sat up quickly in the bed, her head rushing and causing her to have to pause. She held her head for a second, muttering to herself. Her ears laid flat on her head at the sound of her raspy voice, cursing herself in her mind. What was going on with her? She would assume she was sick with how weary she felt and how bad her voice sounded, but she was too busy with the fact that this wasn't her room.

As she mind cleared, memories seemed to flood and settle into place. She didn't notice the smile on her face as she recalled the golden angel who had taken her attention the night before. His almost sparkling skin, large wings, and strength as he flew them from the temple-

That was it! She lifted her head from her hands, glancing around again. She remembered leaving the party with him, practically drunk with want for him. Her heart squeezed as little, glinting memories of the emotions hit her. How had she been so brazen throwing herself at him like that? She had been begging for him to take her home, and she supposed he had.

From looking at the room it wasn't much of a lived in place. She pushed the covers away, standing and walking over to a dusty shelf. She gingerly reached out and picked up a small seashell sitting there. She lightly blew off the dust before eyeing it curiously. It was absolutely beautiful and created a longing in her heart. She'd love to see the water, something she can't remember doing since she had spent most of her time in the city. Once she was done inspecting it she set it back before turning back towards the room.

She looked at the bed and flushed with embarrassment at its state. It was in such a disarray she was surprised they were able to sleep as well as they did. She walked back over, picking up the edge of the sheet and rubbing it between her fingers idly. In the back of her mind there was this tiny little voice asking her what she was waiting around for. Was she hoping he'd appeared? He'd obviously rushed off in a hurry this morning without waking her. The dread she felt from this nibbling voice was enough to force her back into the bed and draw the covers back over her head.

What had she done? Why had she acted so carelessly with herself? She rolled herself up into the blankets and buried her face into the pillow fighting tears. This wasn't like her at all, sure she had had some fun nights flirting and talking the night away with a few of her fans, but she had always made a point to never let any follow her home. Now she had allowed herself to get caught up in a part and followed someone else home.

That was it! She angrily tore the blankets away and got out of bed. She didn't need this after the kind of night she had, she needed to get back to 'home'. Or whatever that place was to her at this point. She grumbled to herself, tugging on her curly hair as she stomped her way down the hall. She didn't know how to navigate the house, but decided any way would lead her out eventually. She managed to make it into the kitchen as soon as another was working his way inside with an armload of fruits. She stood there blinking at him in utter confusion for a second trying to take in the scene. He had left her hadn't he? Then what was he doing back with fruit?

“X-xanthous?” she actually managed to say softly. She cleared her throat in hopes that it would clear the rasp in her voice as well as clear her mind. Once her eyes had landed on him she had caught glimpses of the night before, ones that actually weren't all that bad, but certainly made her embarrassed as all get out. Even the night after she still felt an odd mix of emotion towards the angel. She didn't flat out hate him (how could she when he obviously was trying to feed her?), but she certainly couldn't see her tumbling in his bed again- just yet.

Oh Princesses what was wrong with her!?

“D-do ya need any help?”

In his efforts to open the door, arms full, and NOT make a sound, he bit into an apple and held the fruit there in his teeth while he fidgeted with the sticky knob of the door. He managed well enough.

Giving a bit of a sigh and ignoring the apple in his mouth, he trudged into the cabin and turned, only to stop dead in the doorway. Fortissimo had woken up. Drat... he started in his own thoughts. There goes the clever idea of breakfast in bed...

Still a bit dumbfounded and clearly caught off guard, he continued to stand there a moment holding the fruit and maintaining a deer in the headlights look like no other. He blinked a moment before her words caught up to him and he finally shook his head, taking the last few steps to the counter and spilling the fruit there. He made sure none would roll off the edge and splat upon the floor before he lifted a hand to free his lips.

"Eh... Sorry, Fortissimo. I didn't mean to wake you, if I did?" he offered. He then set to work on cleaning a few dishes. The silence flooded the room. To say he wasn't embarrassed was an understatement. He clearly was. He set to washing a pair of plates and a blade to cut the fruit with as a means of distraction.

His feathers were ruffled, wings tensed with uncertainty about how to react. His plan - the usual plan - was to woo a woman, leave her with false promises and never turn back. To have one such individual - though all the while striking, stunning and charismatic as she might be - sitting in his home - well, his temp home - the next morning was a first for him. As well as a certain other thing... the thing that happened between them the night before. That was completely new.

Not that I didn't enjoy every single minute of it..!

He cleared his throat, shoving back the obvious blush he was obtaining and took a breath. "So, uh. I hope you don't mind fruit for breakfast. It, uh... It's sadly the only thing I have to eat here for the moment." he started again, finally breaking the silence. "Sorry about all the dust. I haven't been here in a while and my father left it for the city a few years back. He left it in my care when he did."

He set to work, cutting up the fruit in decent sized, finger-food bites.

Fortissimo guessed she wouldn't be leaving like she thought, not with him standing in the doorway with a massive load of fruit in his arms. The look on his face was enough to make her smile and feel guilty for her thoughts before. He had really tried to surprise her hadn't he? She had thought the worse of him and here he was showing her again that he wasn't who she thought he was. The smile on her face seemed to grow at that thought. Perhaps they could make some good come of this.

She shook her head at him as she walked over, “Nah, I've been awake for a bit, but I just walked in here myself.” She leaned against the counter with her hip, crossing her arms over her chest as she watched him clean. As much talking as Fortissimo did in her life, the silence that was stretching between them was comforting. Neither of them wanted to bring up what happened, but as it sunk deeper and deeper into her reality the more she was accepting of it. The more accepting of it she became the more she felt she could relax in his presence. Or perhaps it was him and the fact that he had stayed around. That certainly spoke wonders to her.

She hated to see him so tense and was surprised by it. Actually, he was so quiet and polite she wasn't sure who he was. The man last night had been so passionate and fiery it had left her burning and wanting so much. Now watching as he cleaned and prepared the food- well, this was a warming emotion of... caring? Did she feel cared for? She could say that. Perhaps special even. She had to turn her head to hide the smile that brought to her face. Why was he trying to make her feel so special?

She looked back at him as he began to speak. Gone was the purring seductive voice with the sure of himself tone. Gone was the look in his eyes that made her want to melt. It had been fun, she wont deny it, but the way he was stammering over his words was just so-so- adorable? “Fruit sounds refresh'n after our night last night.” She had meant after the craziness of the party, but realized it could have been taken another way, she just laughed and shrugged helplessly. Why were they dancing around it. It was just making things so complicated.

She pushed herself away from the counter with the decision she was done with games. She walked over to him and took his knife setting it off to the side before she slid herself between him and the counter. She turned her green eyes up at him as she wrapped her arms around his chest in a loose hug, “I get the feel'n neither of us meant for that tah happen.” She searched his eyes to see if what she was saying rang true with him as well, “But it did. So thanks for sticking it out with me this morn'n.” As her voice faded she pulled him close into a hug hoping he understood how much this meant to her.

She couldn't say she was one hundred percent happy she had experienced this for the first time in this way. She hardly knew who he was and couldn't remember the whole experience. The last fact left her wondering if perhaps they had drank too much? She could only recall one drink... She couldn't deal with it now, not when it had already happened. He was also continuing to make it an enjoyable experience. She had to give him that.

After she held the hug for a moment, finding an odd sense of relief in it, she let him go. As she was stepping away she popped one of the cut up fruit into her mouth before she held out a piece to him, “It's quiet alright. The place just needs a lil love'n nothin wrong with that.” She took in the area around them admiring the workmanship of the place, “But I dunno why ya wouldn't visit. It's a pretty cozy place!”

'...- after our night last night.'

He tensed visibly at those words, trying his best to not grimace, though he was sure it was most likely evident in his action alone. There must have been something in the wine that night. He'd never would have done any of that... Especially on the first "date" as it were. However, what she did next completely caught him off guard.

He froze solid and blinked at her as she slid between him and the counter. Her body so close to his brought some memories - they were the fuzzier ones before - to light and he permitted a bright blush to grace his features. He nodded simply to her gratuitous comment then blinked as she hugged him.

There was a moment of awkward stiffness, but she would soon feel his figure exhale in a bit of relief. He was expecting... something far more drastic than a hug and a thank you for their wild and untamed behavior the night before. His golden arms wrapped around her figure then, squeezing her somewhat for the brief moment she held the hug.

"Thank you..." he started, then smiled a bit. "... for the same."

He took a deep breath and went back to his chopping as she slid away from him. He felt more comfortable now. More at ease with everything. For some reason, he didn't want this to end at all. His old man had been pestering him more and more lately to consider settling down. He often liked to give him that "Don't follow in my footsteps too far, son!" speech. The guy was practically one of the oldest he knew on the island, yet he'd yet to acquire a bride. Strange.

The idea to follow his father's advice began to filter through his thoughts. What if it was time to finally settle down and find a special someone to call his very own? Was it time for him to finally grow up and put playing with woman's hearts in the past? He could definitely do it. Heck, he had a lovely woman standing in his kitchen right now. She'd fit the bill in most aspects perfectly. However, he chocked it up to lingering emotions from last nights escapade and forced it to the back of his mind for the time being.

Her words brought him back to reality and he set the blade down, now finished with chopping the fruit. He plucked up a bit of an apple and popped it in his mouth as he turned and leaned against the counter-top casually.

"It's a better place to be in the summer." he started upon swallowing his bite. He plucked another piece of fruit from the plate and looked at it. "During the winter it gets rather chilly. Especially with the ocean winds coming up off the water and onto the shores."

The cabin was far enough from shore where one could still see the ocean, but hearing the waves crash was near to a whisper in the distance. Of course, Xanthous hadn't thought that she didn't realize the cabin was near to the beach at all. To him, it was common knowledge that he had grown up with. It was nothing special to him anymore, so he didn't think to mention it before as something spectacular.

His initial stiffness to her hug didn't surprise her. She had expected the worse from the situation so she guessed he did as well. After all, they hardly knew one another so how were they suppose to react? She decided she liked this way. Calm, with some hope of something brewing between them. If it was just an awkward friendship she didn't know. She'd let fate decide that and just go with the flow for the day.

Fortissimo mentally shook her head at herself as she watched him chop up the fruit. She was feeling amazingly attracted to him in the moment- as he provided breakfast for the both of them. The fact he had been so thoughtful to do all that work... She let the thought trail off as a small smile played on her lips. He certainly wasn't the man he played himself out to be, but she guessed he could think the same of her. What with her just standing there talking to him rather than trying to seduce him back into the bedroom.

Though a flicker of emotion told her that still sounded appealing, another part of her just wanted to stand there with him forever. There was something so comforting being around him. She reached out about the same time he did to grab the same piece of fruit. Their hands bumping made her giggle before she moved her hand and grabbed another piece. She couldn't help that bubbling of laughter and she glanced up to grin at him, “Thanks again fer this. It's beyond thoughtful.”

As he spoke about the surrounding area her pale green eyes slowly began to grow wide, “Ocean!?” she squeaked. “Did ya say ocean!?” She hadn't really looked around much other than the bedroom so she guessed she could have missed it. A part of her felt mildly dumb for not noticing more of her surroundings, but the thought quickly left her as her mind screamed, 'ocean, ocean, ocean' over and over. She dropped the piece of fruit in her hand and walked quickly to the door.

She threw it open and gave a loud gasp at the sight, her hand flying to her mouth, “Oh good Princess! It is the ocean!” Hot tears brimmed her eyes as she watched the waves lap at the shore. She couldn't recall the last time she saw such a beautiful scene. This, this was a dream come true for her. With all the horror she had gone through recently- losing her powers, her home, and her you-know-what to a stranger- she was beyond happy in this moment. None of that nibbled at her mind, none of it bothered or hurt her. Seeing the sun kiss the crest of the waves that rolled powerfully over the sand, the water left behind sparkling and dancing in her eyes, all of it hypnotizing her.

“Xanthous?” she called back over her shoulder softly- something Fortissimo didn't do, talk softly that is, “May we go?” The words came out sounding like a child caught up in wonderment. She was lost in the water that was for sure.

Her reaction to merely the word 'ocean' made his head tilt.

At first, she appeared startled. Almost frightened. He worried that he may have misspoke or mentioned something he shouldn't have. However, the excitement that seemed to take over her within seconds told him quite the opposite.

Her question to go brought a chuckle out of him. It was almost as if she were an eager child. Like he had been the first night he spent here in the cabin. The day his father took him in. He was a child then, curious about everything, but above all, the ocean fascinated him. That fascination was the only reason Xanthous had agreed to take care of the cabin home once his father moved to the city. Otherwise, he'd still be - for the most part - a homeless loner. Flitting about, camping under the stars wherever his felt like.

"I take it by your tone that you've never seen the ocean?" he asked with a bit of that charming grin he had held the night before at the party. He still had that flirty charm, afterall...

He turned, looking at the fruit he'd cut up, then pulled a large bowl from the cabinet and began washing it. "There's a blanket in the bedroom closet on the shelf. Grab it and the basket below it on the floor." he started, then added before she could dart away. "But be careful. There's rocks in the basket that are a bit heavy if you least expect it. They'll keep the blanket pinned down, though."

He turned to dry out the bowl and fill it with the fruit, then covered it with a large leaf as a sort of lid.

Fortissimo didn't answer him for awhile as she just stared at the scene before her. She had no words for how she felt right then. Being a city pony she never had the chance to be near anything like this world had to offer. Living in a tress? Walking on moss? Smelling and seeing the ocean? She missed home with ever inch of her being, but the little things were starting to make her realize this place wouldn't end up being so bad.

She finally made her way back inside, her cheeks and eyes practically glowing. She caught sight of the charming smile, feeling a flutter roar up in her stomach again. He still had it in him, and still managed to stir up emotions in her. “I can't say when the last time it was I was 'round any kinda spectacular form of nature, truly.” she frowned slightly at the thought, “I have been in the city so long I practically have forgotten what any of this is like.” She looked away from him and back towards the door shaking her head at herself. She had gotten so caught up in making her dreams come true that she hadn't ever taken any time to herself. It was singing night after night...

Now she couldn't even bring herself to whistle.

She pushed the thought out of her mind as he spoke. Her eagerness was growing again, but she held herself still as he gave her instructions. She nodded curtly, showing she understood what he had said before moving back towards the bedroom. She opened the closet and glanced towards the bottom where the basket was like he said. She peeked inside of it to check if the rocks and blanket were still inside before grabbing the handles. She bent at the knees to prepare herself before hulling it up. It was manageable thanks to his warning, and she brought it back into the kitchen setting it on the counter for him.

“How else can I help?” she asked, bouncing on the tip of her hooves.

Xanthous chuckled and shook his head as she dipped into the bedroom for the basket and blanket. By the time she had brought them back into the kitchen, he had moved all the chopped fruit into a bowl and added a juicer and a pair of glasses onto the counter top beside it.

His golden eyes flashed to her figure as she returned. He flashed another charming grin and chuckled. "Nah. Just continue being beautiful." he offered then began piling the fruit bowl, cups and juicer into the basket.

"Alright then." he started, closing the top to the basket and lifting it off the counter. He then turned and gestured towards the door. "Shall we go?"

He waved a hand towards the door and waited for Fortissimo to take the lead. He chuckled softly to himself at how excited she seemed to be over something so simple.

The path to the beach was pretty self explanatory. The dirt path was only slightly overgrown, but years of an old Angel Pae - Tassos - had worn the path enough for it to still be visible. The closer to the shore they got, the more sand joined the dirt until eventually the trees cleared and the grass thinned until only sand was left between them and the waves crashing calmly upon the shore.

"Can you swim?" he then asked, finding a decent spot to settle the basket and withdraw the blanket. "If you want to go out into the water, you can, just don't go too far out. My father used to tell me stories of Naiads that would pull you under if you went out too far from the shore. I was never sure if it was a story or not, but honestly, I was too afraid to not believe it." He shrugged and finished spreading the blanket, then plopped the rocks down on the corners to keep it pinned and flat.

He left the fruit and cups in the basket for now. She wanted to visit the ocean, and they had the rest of the day to eat without the risk of sand getting into their food.

Fortissimo flashed Xanthous a look with a sly grin, that was the man she remembered from last night. She wouldn't admit that his words were actually doing something for her, making her feel like she was worth something to him, but she did teasingly wrinkle her nose up at him without a word in return. It all melted away to a look of pure delight when he asked to go, “Alright!” she almost squealed, bounding her way towards to the door.

Her bouncing slowed as they walked together, instead she began to look at everything and anything around her completely mezmories by the nature that surrounded them, “I wont get over the face that I'm now liv'n in a tree.” she said as she slipped her hands behind her back, her head tipped back to look at the tree branches above. “Go'n from a big city to a place like this...” she trailed off her poofy hair bouncing as she shook her head. “...it's right out odd, but I'm lov'n every moment of it. Now I am at least.” she muttered the last part to herself. When she had first gotten to the island she was anything but pleased after losing her home and pretty much herself for however long she was just wandering the island.

Her musings quieted as the landscape around them began to change. As soon as her hooves sank into pure sand and her eyes beheld the waves, a huge sigh left her lips, “This. This is what the after life must be like.” the comment was just a wistful whisper from her lips. She kneeled down into the sand in order to grab a handful of it and let it slide out between her fingers. When had she done anything peaceful like this? It had been ages since she had just taken time for herself in a relaxing manner.

Her head shot up at Xanthous' comment, her eyes slightly wide, “Naiads?” she stood up, looking like she was trying to place the term. “Was that the finned look'n creatures at the party the other night?” she ask kind of bluntly, but outside the tree she hadn't met many others on the island. She looked out over the water again, frowning deeply. She wasn't about to admit she couldn't swim, and no way in heck was she going in that water if something like that lived in there.

“I'll stick to the shore line, thanks.” she said as she walked towards the water. She stopped just close enough that it could lap at the edge of her hooves, a small grin turning up her lips. She was having a blast, and it didn't hurt that her company was so intriguing to her. She looked over her shoulder at him beckoning him to join her once he had laid out the blanket. When he had she looked out on the water again, “When'd ya leave this place?” she asked slowly, testing to see if he'd be at all interested in sharing his past. She wouldn't blame him if not, but if this was going somewhere they might as well get to know each other right?

She looked at him from the side of her eyes. Was this going somewhere? She turned her head slightly so she could look at him better. Did she even want this going anywhere? She hardly knew the guy. Sure, she was thoroughly attracted to him and he definitely showed a softer side, but what did they have that would connect them?

Her eyes trailed down to his hands and she had an overwhelming need to just hold it. She quickly turned her head back towards the water feeling flushed. Never before did she just want someone to care, someone to just be sweet to her like he was. Is this what she had been missing? A gentle connection to another?

“Do ya ever wish you weren't lone all the time?”

A tree?.... Oh yeah... THAT tree...

Xanthous grimaced softly to himself, he'd have to tell her at some point... but she was having a bit too much fun. Plus they only just arrived at the shore... why ruin such a perfectly good time now? He quickly reformed that grimace into a grin. He knew all too well how drastic a change it was to go from city landscapes to this. It was a peaceful, welcoming change. It was part of the reason he explored so often. The city was too busy, too crowded and far too noisy for his tastes.

He nodded softly as she inquired about the Naiads. "Unfortunately, I don't know much about them myself. I assume the finned ones we saw would be them. Honestly, I just figured it was a way for my Father to keep a better eye on me without having to jump in after me. He didn't like the water much... But I'll be darned if it wasn't a valid method to keep me from going too far out." he chuckled and moved to slip his feet into the waters. He sighed softly with a smile as the cool water lapped around his ankles and his toes dug in the sand.

He shrugged at her next question. "I come and go as I please... I think I first left when I was a teen?" He pondered this briefly then followed with another shrug. "I was a rebel child." he then added with a small laugh. "I didn't like my father's rules. Wanted to be out on my own. Ran off..." he paused briefly. "I came back after a few weeks. My father was elated that nothing had happened. I came and went for weeks at a time and after a while, he moved back to the city. Left the cabin to me. Said I can come and go whenever I liked so long as I took care of it from time to time."

He trailed for a moment, shifting his feet so he wasn't sinking further and further into the sand as the waves periodically crashed into his calves.

There was a bit of a pause as she asked of him being lonely. He had to think on that a moment. There were plenty of times he wished he had someone to share things with. There were also times he'd come back to the cabin just to feel like he was coming home to someone... And then there were times where he appreciated his personal space...

"Sometimes..." he offered honestly. There was another pause... almost to the point of awkward before he inhaled and cleared his throat.

"So! A city! I can't say that I've ever seen Faun in Telrunya City. And that's the only City here on the island..." he started then tilted his head. "You're not originally from Telrunya, are you?"

Fortissimo felt relived when he mentioned he didn’t know much about the Naiads. She knew she was still somewhat new to the islands, but hated the thought of coming off naive to her new home. She truly did want to know everything there was to know about it, but she was still having a hard time settling in. Not to mention she just got done with the craziest party of her life.

She looked over the water as he explained his theory on his dad and the story. It made sense to her, and also brought a smile to her face. She loved the feeling she was getting from him sharing parts of his past with her. It was filling her with an unexplainable joy. She looked at him from the corner of her eyes thinking how glad she was she went to the party now. Though she had given up a special part of herself to this golden boy, she could feel that it wasn’t wasted. No, there was certainly something happening between them.

“You? A rebel child? I can’t see that at all.” she teased him in a mocking tone. With how smooth he had wooed her and his talks of being a wanderer it made sense to her. “Its ok, I struck out on my own at a young age as well. Though it was more for my career than rebel’n against my parents.” She offered him a teasing wink before looking out at the water again. “If that’s what made ya the man ya are now, I’m glad it went that way for you.” she didn’t have a teasing tone at all, but instead sounded truly honest. She turned and smiled at him feeling glad she had managed such a compliment without too much blushing.

She wasn’t sure if it was the single word or the way he said, but either way his answer stirred something inside of her. She had a sudden want to be there for him, to make sure he wouldn’t feel lonely during his journeys. The emotion burned so deep in her that without thinking she reached out and took his hand as an attempt to comfort him. When she realized her bold move she quickly looked away from him, but didn’t take her hand back. She thought it would become more awkward that way (though in her heart she knew she just wanted to hold his hand...).

At his question she blinked furiously, “Oh my no! I’m sorry I forgot about that detail...” Not so small a detail to forget about, “My home is called Manehatten. Can’t really tell ya where that is in relation to yer home here ‘cause I ain’t too sure how I got here.” she shrugged helplessly. “One moment I was Manehatten the next I was here.” She rubbed her head chuckling nervously, “I know someth’n happened in between, but once I got here everyth’n got kinda fuzzy for me. I was walking around for a long time kinda dazed then I found the tree...” she trailed off as her mind wandered back. She knew it was because of her dazed wanderings that she can’t recall what had happened to her. She had been so deep in mourning of what happened that she supposed she had blocked it out. She sighed guessing it didn’t matter at this point. She was here now.

Xanthous couldn't help but blush a bit when he felt her hand on his. He blinked, eyes averting to the blue fingers grabbing softly onto his. He seemed to hold his breath a moment then all at once, he relaxed. His expression softened to a warm smile and his fingers laced with hers.

At least her head was turned when he blushed. Otherwise - cue embarrassment!!

Still... Her hand fit perfectly in his... The idea and feel sent small shivers through the quills of his feathers... Not the bad kind of shivers, though! The kind that made his heart flutter and his spirit soar... even if he didn't recognize it now. All he knew was that something was stirring. He just had yet to put his finger on what.

Talk of her hometown stirred him back to reality.

"Manehatten?" he asked, tilting his head slightly. It rolled off the tongue well enough. He then thought about the ship he'd heard whispers of. It arrived just a little over a year ago, but he shrugged them off as rumors... Perhaps that's how she arrived to the island? Though it was a shame she couldn't remember more of how she came to be on Telrunya.

Still... a distant place? He idly wondered if they could possibly go back to her hometown one day. It would make for one interesting surprise... He'd have to find out more about this.... Manehatten...

"Was it a big city?" he asked then tilted his head back quizically. Paeple who lived in the city tended to keep busy most of the time. There was always a job or hobby that kept everyone occupied for at least the majority of their time there. "And what did you do there?"

Mama Blues felt like she was soaring when she felt his fingers find a place between hers. She wanted to shake her head at herself with how she was feeling. It was like the little school girl in her was giddy over a crush. They'd been intimate just the night before, but somehow the smallest gesture of caring spoke loudly to her heart. Something she hadn't felt in a long time.

She lifted her chin a little higher at that moment. It felt good to be on the same level emotionally with someone. In her giddiness she began to swing their hands back and forth gently, her tail beginning to swing along at the same tempo. It was almost as though a song had started playing in her head and her whole body was attempting to get in on it.

His question about the city seemed to bring a light into Fortissimo's eyes, “Oh mai yes! It was not only large, but grand!” Her voice was wistful as her eyes clouded with memory, “There was so much life there. So much to do and see. Ya couldn't be bored, 'less you just weren't look'n hard enough!” She sighed heavily, her eyes clearing and coming back to reality. “This island is different, but there is so much good here as well” she said as she glanced over at him giving him a knowing smile.

“I was a singer...” her voice trailed off as the light left her eyes. She looked away from him and out over the water obviously looking hurt over the topic.

Xanthous grinned. He guessed by all that talk, most cities were much in the same. Lots of places to go, things to do and see. He could honestly say his trip into the city was a busy one... but that had been a while ago at this point. Perhaps he was due to visit his father again soon...

Then... Xanthous felt torn in the moment. On one hand, he just witnessed her light up like the sun! Only to watch her simultaneously drop to a near depressed level. He couldn't help but feel compelled to dig further, all the while biting his tongue. He didn't want to go and upset her.

There was a moment's pause before he softly squeezed her hand. "By the tone of that 'was', I take it something had happened..."

He peered at her almost quizzically. "I don't blame you for not wanting to talk about it." he started. "But I'm here... and willing to listen if you do..." His tone of voice had changed almost completely. As if a small part of him knew and sympathized with whatever had troubled her.
