It shouldn't be hard to believe that McCowboy had found himself lost once again. He was a lone voyager and, let's face it, this world made little of any goddamned sense. There were colorful, talking, hugging trees and whispering lakes with giant monsters and portals to glitching worlds. In all of his youthful drug experimentation, he had never experienced a trip quite this weird - and would take future note that if things ever were to get this strange that he's probably overdosed.
But, like a calling beacon, McCowboy soon found himself drawn to a tavern. Instantly he was at home. A bartender by trade and a binge-drinker by vice, taverns like these always had a familiar presence, even if the bartender is a walrus. Hell, he had been served in the past by gym bunnies, otters, chickens, and bears, so why not an actual ******** walrus?
McCowboy ordered a light mead - an exchange traded for a joyful memory of his times working behind the bar, getting good tips and offers during rounds of shots that he'd serve - and made his way to a large and empty booth with room for plenty.
It looked like there were a lot of lost people coming in an out of the tavern, and it was time to get to know some of the others who were lost with him. He got comfortable in the booth and gave an inviting and warm welcoming smile to any passerby.

TAVERN BAR MENU
[ Tavern Bar ]: - As you walk in, beyond the thousands, yet hundreds of tables, there is a bar. A walrus is serving drinks, and he looks pretty busy. You can order from the drink menu behind him; currency is in a memory.
That means you have to offer any memory to him in order to get a drink. How this works OOCly is your character has to write a small rp passage about a past memory they have had related to the drink they want just in a post, in spoilers is fine. This memory ICly turns into a small token when they relive it in that post, like a memory flashback. Just hand it to the bartender. You will not lose this memory, you just need to invoke the memory in order to buy a drink for a memory token. It can be ANY memory; from a past event or even from this one. - Warning : You CAN get tipsy from drinking too much mead. Your vision will blur and it will be hard to hear anything and also you might make slightly brash actions. Mead cooldown time between overly tipsy is 5 IC minutes.
[LIST OF DRINKS: ]
1. Frothy Mead - A dark, foaming substance that soothes your soul. Requires one ANGRY memory
2. Dark Mead - A foaming substance made entirely out of dark matter. You can see stars forever. Requires one FRIGHTFUL memory.
3. Light Mead - A foaming substance that seems to be made of rainbows, sunshine and bubbles. Requires one JOYFUL memory.
4. Invisible Mead - What do you mean it's not there? Requires one SECRET memr]ory.
5. Heavy Mead - Careful - this will make you real tipsy. Drinking too much will also make you lose your balance! Requires one UNFORGETTABLE memory.

The doors slammed open and heroic theme music began to play as two figures, backlit and particularly dramatic paused at the threshold before sauntering in. Phoenix looked down at her companion, Mr. Tum Tums the march hare, and grinned. That had been an awesome entrance. She hoped Slain and k1ng were around to have witnessed it with appropriate envy and awe. Glancing around for them, the flashy gryphon froze when she noticed a username.
The man underneath it didn't resemble Lawrence in the slightest, but even in real life the con man had a way of being more than a single person and less than one. She needed to make sure.
Within moments she was sliding into the booth across from this McCowboy, giving him a sharp, suspicious once over before drawling, "So Mr. Cowboy, huh?"

Divinity probably wasn't following Phoenix. Probably. He was just innocently stopping by the tavern because it was a comfortable and hip place to hang out.
He was totally surprised to see her there, and absolutely didn't notice her until he was halfway across the tavern. He paused and then examined her friend and the name over his head.
And if he had been able to really appreciate a good joke, he would have laughed. Probably a lot.

"Yes'm," his eyes peered up from the lid of his hat to check the name above her head - Phoenix. "Pleased to meet ya. And just McCowboy is fine, lest you want me calling you Miss Phoenix. No reason to be all formal and s**t, it ain't no wedding."
Only at weddings was it ever mandatory to be 'formal and s**t.'
He took a sip of his mead and leaned forward across the table, lowering his voice in question. "So tell me, do you got any ********' clue what's going on in this little world here, or are you lost as well? Cause if you ain't lost then, s**t girl, help a fella out?"

She relaxed a bit when McCowboy didn't display Jan's general sleeze and the word missy was never quite uttered. The mention of weddings had her perk right the ******** up, "You know there's a buncha weddings going about?" She held out a hand, showing off a plain thick ring of battered metal like it was crusted in angel tears and platinum. "They let you eat cake too." It was hard to tell which aspect she found more appealing, baked goods or the actual marriage.
"Well if you happen to be a hunter..." the girl answered, leaning in, voice low to match his. Phoenix did think he was likely human, her interaction with the other sorts being fairly limited. "Then I think it's some sort of mission, that or some weird fluke because some yahoo did a science. Either way, might as well play to win." She gave a small sigh, "At first I thought it was the sexy pirate dream, but walruses an antlers," this was accompanied a gesture that indicated they ruined everything.
Meanwhile Mr. Tum Tums arrived at the table, carrying a tiny mug of ale in one of its paws. Making room for it to sit, Phoenix continued, "If you're one of those Halloween folk, though, I can't really say. You should probably be off being spooky an s**t."

"Well, I don't know much about anything you just said," he cocked a brow and tried to piece everything together, but to his untrained ears, the talk of hunters and Halloween folk sounded like crazy talk. Not that he wasn't used to it at this point. "But I hope I ain't spookin' you out."
He grinned and took another sip of his mead.
"I know that feeling, that damned disappointment. I saw those rainbow trees and thought it was some weird sexy dream, too, but I haven't seen a twink yet. And again - walruses and antlers," he teased back, mimicking her defeated gestures. "But sexy pirates, huh? I can dig that."

"Oh," her brow creased for a moment, "...are you like, a civilian?" The idea of someone neither a hunter nor a monster threw her off kilter for a moment. The world outside Deus had become so distant that its sudden inclusion in this sort of weird ******** was nothing less than jarring. But that was for people more prone to figuring out the particulars, and Phoenix was more a just get s**t done sort, herself. With a shrug she continued, "Naw, honey, spookiest thing about was thinking you were someone else."
The mention of finding a twink has taken care of any lingering suspicions that he might be Lawrence. Eyebrows raised and grin toothy, she began, "Like the twiggy little princess types, too, huh? I've seen one, but he's kinda the angry sort. ******** adorable, but such a little s**t."

If there was on thing Divinity didn't do this time around, it was have a drink. He had learned his lesson on that front and had almost in that moment of blurred judgement blown the lid right off of the entire front he sought to maintain here. Errors tasted foul to him, mistakes were not divine, they were fallible and they should not happen to him. Being back in this place made him as close to irritated as he could really get, filled with that wire-taut tension which demanded an outlet.
But there were no minipets here, or pods, or music. Only her, and she made everything worse in the hopes it would someday be better.
He sat down, as unconcerned he was crashing some potential booty call as he was unconcerned about all things in the world. "Hey!" he said brightly before scolding Phoenix playfully. "Fancy running into you again here. Hope you aren't an alcoholic."
The other man got the same delighted smile and he eyed the name over his head fleetingly before lowering his eyes once again to his face. "Howdy." he said.

"Er, I guess so," he shrugged at being a civilian. He wasn't sure what else he would call himself. "Hopefully ya didn't think I was anyone bad."
"Sometimes the twiggy princess types, or a younger fella with a tight little body and some tone. But if you know a boy then hell, you'll have to point me in his direction sometime," he grinned. "Especially if he's adorable."
McCowboy glanced to the newcomer to the table - the name over his head identified him as 'Divinity.'
"Howdy yourself there, bud," he smirked. "Ya'll two know each other?"

"The second worst person, ever," Phoenix reassured him. "If you see a little dormouse going by k1ng, that's with a one for the i, be prepared for a good show."
Divinity had her looking over with a grin as she noted the lack of drink. "Naw, I've had enough. Gotta be professional is this is work, right?" Her ring caught her attention again, and Phoenix gave a moment to consider how professional teapot weddings were.
In answer to the question she leaned back in the seat, "We're both in the same line of work but never met before the game started, 'cause he didn't know me and I'm not someone you forget." Modesty was for less honest folks.

Divinity nodded his assent to America's statement, beaming. "Yeah, what she said, she's certainly memorable. I don't think I'd ever forget her if I'd have met her before this." He was relieved to find he probably wasn't interrupting anything major, the cowboy here seemed to be into stallions and not fillys. "Nice to meet you though, cowboy. A civ, no kidding."
"And this is some of the lightest work I've done in years, I have to say." the lightest since he'd gotten off of Wonder Park at least, he thought.
"And you hooking people up here Phoenix?" he propped his chin up on his hand. "Got anyone for me?"

"Amen to being unforgettable," he raised his glass, cheering on his own ego and others. He made a note to keep an eye out for this 'k1ng' person. He might be the second person ever, but as long as he's cute and game, then the terrible personality would just make him more his type. He's pretty sure he's put his d**k in worse, at any rate.
"So what kind of work are ya'll in then?" he asked. Whatever it was, it seemed to be a line of work where they were no longer considered to be civilians - and being a civilian was apparently rare in this strange little world. "Must be interesting if the s**t goin' down here is light."

Phoenix shot Divinity an approving smile as he agreed to one of the general truths of her existence. "Well, maybe not hooking people up, but there's these marriage things going on, and they give you cake. Amazing cake. Everyone should have a chance at cake." Also she felt k1ng would be hella cute when flustered.
Pursing her lips, she gave the question of profession a quiet moment of though, before something occurred to her, "It can be very interesting from time to time. Unpredictable too. So, McCowboy," she leaned forward again, voice going low, "...do you see things sometimes? Weird shadows and the like? Things that don't hardly belong in the waking world?"

"Cake?" he said. "Can't say I've had any. Shame really, I love cake." he looked extremely downcast at the prospect of a cakeless future but soldiered on regardless.
Divinity did not actually have a problem explaining in full detail what it was that they did for a living because he assumed that any individual worth their merit in sanity would assume it was complete nonsense and laugh right in their face. He was about to when Phoenix got there first and her method was far more interesting. Answering a question with another question always trumped actually answering.
"Or actual horrific monsters." he added onto her comment, just in case, assuming some people surely had a similar experience to those trapped at wonder park. "Though I think you'd remember those more than shadows."
McCowboy laughed nervously and fidgeted with his glass. How did she know about the shadows? It wasn't an overly frequent thing, but seeing strange shadows in his peripherals that seemingly nobody else could see was common enough of an occurrence to recognize something was unusual. It gave him doubts towards his sanity with each instance.
"Well, I ain't crazy if that's why you're asking," he clarified. He fidgeted with the rim of his glass some more. He felt like he was coming out all over again. His voice cracked quietly as he shifted to straighten out in his seat. "But uh, sometimes, yeah. Little things here and there. No monsters, least not to my knowing."
Did he sound crazy? He felt a little crazy. But they seemed to know what he was talking about. "Why? What's it to you?"
