He was not tiring out in the slightest. Though, he did have the idea of cheating a bit since he was given his true body back. He began to shadowstep up clumps of steps to speed up the process. The moment he was able to blink again, he did so. He was going up at an alarmingly fast pace. Shun was the reaper that could not be stopped. And so he shadowstepped. Skele_Woofie looked up and up and up and up at the stairs. They went on forever! But… apparently that was where the end lay, so up he charged. On and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up till he ran out of breath. There he sat and stretched for a bit, looking down into the gloom below him and the gloom above him. Gloom all around!
He gave a howl just to hear it cho1 Awooo!! Awooooooooooo…. Wooooo Awooooooooooo…. Wooooo Awooooooooooo…. Wooooo Awooooooooooo…. Wooooo Awooooooooooo…. Wooooo Awooooooooooo…. Wooooo Awooooooooooo…. Howls all around! To this he grinned and charged back the stairs that went on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up until once more he collapsed on the stairs. Grumbling her gathered his breath and cursed whoever made these infernal stairs. Evil things! Some very very very twisted mind came up with this torture! How was one supposed to leave this place?
The stairs though curved just above him, giving him hope that maybe the end was near. Skele_Woofie has tan skin, with the right half his face looking slightly paler, and blak wolf ears and tail. His right arm and leg are skeletal;(You can't see them due to the heavy clothes but they are there and look thinner than the left). His left eye is gold and right eye is an empty socket. Longish black hair that's shaved on the right side. His hands and feet are "paws" though they are still covered in gloves/boots that match the paw shape

McCowboy should not have eaten that burrito. As he took a step, his insides started to rip up and churn. He was feeling gassy, and each step was a stretch that just invited a small release of gas. But as he ascended the staircase, the gassy smells grew worse and worse to the point of complete and total torture. He could scarcely breathe amongst the noxious smells of his own flatulence! He choked on his breath and passed out, tumbling down the stairs. Weak and without energy, he had no way of sustaining himself except…oh, hey, there is a burrito!

Stairs. There were an awful lot of them. Willard stared up at them not completely undaunted. In fact he was rather daunted. Those were a lot of stairs, how would he ever climb them all? It was going to take a long time and a lot of encouragement to himself but he was going to do it. He was going to go up and count all of those stairs one by one until he reached the top. How many could there be anyway? He began his journey, his eyes glued to where he hoped was the top.
He was going to do it and no one was going to tell him otherwise. he took a very deep breath and started to climb, "One," He grunted out and pulled himself up. He'd come this far in Wonderland and a few thousand stairs were not going to hold him down. He was a victor and he was going to do this. If this was the final boss and not a trick by Wonderland then he'd be the victor here.
The second step, "Two." Then another, "Three." Now he was working up a fine pace. Step, "Five," Step, "Six," Step, "Seven." Step," Eight." Step. "Nine." He began to go up faster and faster. "Ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty." Alright maybe he was a little winded now but he could still do this. He could still make it up all these steps. He began to go again, "Twenty-one. Twenty-two. Twenty-Three, Twenty-four. Twenty-Five. Twenty-Six. Twenty-Seven. Twenty-Eight. Twenty-Nine. Thirty!" Alright that was a good chunk he was sure. At least until he looked up and saw more to go.
He could do this. He grit his teeth and with pride he started up again, "Thirty-one, Thirty-two, Thirty-three, Thirty-four, Thirty-five, Thirty-six. Thirty-Seven, Thirty-eight. Thirty-nine. Forty." He wasn't even close yet but mark his words he was going to be. He picked up his pace again. "Forty-one. Forty-two, forty-three. Forty-four. Forty-five. Forty-six. Forty-seven. Forty-eight. Forty-nine, fifty," Half way to a hundred and not even close. Not even close how matter how many steps he took. No matter how many words he felt filled his little mental pages of numbers. There had to be at least, five thousand of them and that was just a complete and utter guess and maybe or maybe not accurate. How would he know the answer to that? Well, for starters he was counting the stairs. He could count them.
As he began to count them he began to day dream. A fine dream That would keep him going . He could fight dragons or sword fight or anything of the such all while traveling up the expansive and sort of crazy stairs. But he'd do it. He'd make it up those stairs even if his feet fell off and his mind went numb and sour. It was a challenge like the Jabberwock and the those blasted trees that seemed to enjoy beating upon him well too much.
It was just another challenge like the way the treats had changed him over and over again. Even once taking away his precious and lovely tails. It was just another thing that he HAD to do because the challenge was there. Because they laid it out for him. True, he was probably not going to finish. If he got up those stairs and saw, with his own eyes, that there were more he might not be so inclined to go up them. Get it, inclined? Stairs? Well, HE thought it was funny. Seriously, where was the humor in people anymore? He'd almost reached a hundred now. Surely there was a light at the end of the tunnel soon but alas, no. He just had to keep writing-er walking. Walking is what he meant. Clearly there were easier ways to do this. If only there were.
But no. He couldn't give in and cheat or even do one two skip a few ninety-nine five thousand. Because that would be cheating and he, HE was certainly no cheater. A thief, absolutely but no cheater. Besides, what better time to reflect than by counting and walking up a massive set of stairs? He could easily come up with any sort of thing. Like how he'd stolen his first thing (it was from his mother's purse) and how the coin felt so powerful in his hands. She'd been sleeping and just like that he'd taken it. Of course he didn't NEED it. What would a five year old do with a coin? Well, buy something, but he wasn't near a store. He had just wanted to try it and try he did!
He kept trans-versing, eventually, his mind informed him and his aching toes, he would get tired. He would not longer beable to carry one and he'd stop. Surely, it was good he came this far. After all, he was well into the hundreds now. Around eight hundred? Talking to one's self while climbing up a seemingly endless staircase to a seemingly endless quest could do that sort of thing. At least he believed so. But he was not yet tired and fully intended to keep going until he was. Until he could simply not take another step he was going to keep walking. Because 's only sixteen-sixty seven words a day in order to write a novel in a month. Not sure how he knew that information but he was FAIRLY sure that was a true statement. (It was.) Either way if it was just that much a day to write a novel then surely he could walk up a few thousand stairs in one whole day.
Step after step he kept pulling himself up. He was going to do this. He was almost cross the first threshold. Hes he could feel it as his feet took him up a huge set of stairs. Once glance told him that he wasn't nearly as high as he could be but if he wanted to help his friends. If he wanted to beat the queen then he was going to. He would think of nothing else except the two people he'd barely met for a few minutes but HEY one of them had given him a heal and that reason enough for him to consider him a friend. Just good enough to keep him plowing through. He thought about taking a break but why should he? He was going to go as far as he could. He was going to push himself THEN he'd take a break. Rest himself, and really think about it hard. If only this stair set came with music or a movie or anything remotely useful then that'd be fun. He'd even take a dog trying to bite off his feet so he wouldn't be board but nope, he just kept on moving. Surely someone would happen across the stairs and be there too.
Speaking of novels maybe he could write some someday. That'd be pretty cool. He could write a long novel and become a hero. How long was one any way? Fifty-thousand words? Something like that. He could do that easily if he could just get up these stairs. He could sense he wasn't even at the halfway point. Maybe at around a thousand two hundred words but no where near the amount he needed in order to get to the top. It was winding, never ending, and horrifying but he wouldn't give up not yet. Not now.
Back to day dreaming. Ahhh, now there was some real fun. He could daydream he was a pirate. He could pillage and get 'the booty' or maybe he could find some really nice people and befriend them from a distant land. He snuffed, his gray-brown limp hair hanging like dead animals from his head and his dripping nasally breathing not doing him any favors in that department but no one was perfect. Certainly not him. All hew as was tired and getting bored but there was no way of going back now. He'd made it this far. Cutting down the stairs with his eyes closed, drifting off as he walked, and allowing himself the chance to zone out. Tiredness did not stop those who had taken up a challenge and he'd taken this one mightily. Dare he was fought. Dare they raise their weapons to him. He wanted hats taken off because he was around. He wanted gold around his fingers and around his neck. He waned to belong to a happy family all at the center of it.
But that was just a pipe dream. No, what he did have were stairs. Long ones. How many was he at now? He was sure it was high. He couldn't really remember where he left off so he just randomly thought of one in her head. "One thousand four hundred and eighty." He stated aloud once he could think of the number. It was a fine number if he did say so himself. He was already feeling the burn. He'd spent all day questing and now, here was, doing a hopefully not pointless challenge. All while muttering to himself about the aspect of being crazy. Could stairs without doors or ends drive you crazy? He assumed yest. After all there was left on this plate, he couldn't tell, but he was sure he'd made it up a little farther. At least pas the half way point. Well, no, maybe not pass the half way point. What even was the half way point of something so big? Of such a large number. He began todo the math in his head, given that it was five thousand how many steps was it to get half way there. Half way to his goal? He knew it was high. Two thousand something, he was sure. But what? What was the real number. He pulled his pocket card guide out of his pocket and stared down in concentration. Surely, it would know the answer. It began to whir and think and he waited. It was an easy question but this was Wonderland and surely there were no easy answers. Finally, it decided, after a long and drawn out process for a simple math problem that it had the answer.
"Two thousand five hundred!" It announced in a way he thought was rather proud. Good for it. It could do simple math within the span of at least twelve minutes. But where did that leave him? He'd nearly lost count. He had to mentally backtrack to the last thing he'd thought. One thousand seven hundred and sixty-nine. Or was it seventy? Somewhere in that. He deflate a little. Hew wasn't even half way there. Not even remotely. Given that that was the real number anyway. He couldn't even be sure of that. He hadn't broken two thousand that was sure. He sighed out and tried to think of something to pass the time. To pass anything.
He began to hum a little and that turned into a jive. A real shaking motion that he deemed was dancing, absolutely no one would agree. He did this for a while. Strutting and singing the amount of stairs he passed. Good thing he was in a game or he'd be tired already. Even falling asleep face forward while nearly giving up- but no. He was in a game and not some poor person who'd turne them selves into essay writers without much need other than the fact they wanted to see what they could do. Thus, making any and all exhaustion completely there fault even as they passed just so close but so far from the halfway mark. Their hands might of bled, he imagined, if hands did such things. He thought that lot. If things did such things. He blamed Wonderland and the invisible and possibly imaginary writer at their desk, battling exhaustion and wondering where her life choices had taken her down such a wrong and terrible path. Two thousand, just five hundred and he'd be half way to the proverbial top.
He took a breath and just keep climbing. The stairs were dark and crumbly and he was fairly sure made of a cold stone. He wasn't sure as he hand't touched one yet. Maybe he should. Worse yet there was nothing for him to steal. Or anyone for him to talk to. Even his brothers (the silent and yet semi sentient things) he was made of were quiet and still. He hated being alone and it reminded him off his nightmare. In the dark all alone with no tails or anything attached to them to talk to.
But this was not his nightmare. This was a challenge! A roaring flame he'd lit in his self to keep going. To keep pressing forward, to persevere. To maybe even quote those cheesy sports movies and get himself risen up for a challenge like an underdog. This was his destiny! These crazy stairs that he didn't even know how he'd gotten to! Just these that he had to climb upwards for no real reason. In fact, he realized as he took step after step, his voice echoing down the length of the of the room, what HAD he been promised upon completion? Nothing, he was sure. But surely there had to be some prize. Ater all, everything else had a prize didn't it?
OR was he doing this for nothing but self satisfaction an the proof tha he, HE the rat king, could climb up a set of stairs and be the victor. At least this was his wonderment as he counted his way up. He was determined now to keep counting. Loosing count would be a travesty. He had to know. He just HAD to know how many stairs there were. How many he'd vanquished in the game of his queen. He cold almost taste how close he was to half way. How much he wanted his progress saved. There was a glitch now he'd be really upset. It might take him to the bottom. He'd even be offended if it took him directly to the top. How mad would he be after all this counting if he'd magically appeared there. He insisted he'd be fairly upset. One did not just magic through a challenge like this. He was counting carefully now. He was nearly there. Almost at two thousand four hundred steps. The halfway point was in his grasp and he wouldn't let it go. After all, if he could reach the halfway point then maybe, if he tried hard. If he kept himself going, then he could get to the top. See the light at the end of the tunnel. He could rise up and win this game! He, the Rat King of unknown origin could take on the world!
Or maybe he'd stashed some of those delicious treats in his coat and was chewing on ice cream. No, that'd be silly. How would he carry it this long before it melted. The thought was taken away as he counted out his next few numbers. He'd done it! He'd reached the half way point. It was time for a rest and maybe and a save.
It was a good thing he saved. He lost count but his good pocket had saved him. Saved him from loosing all the stairs he did. It was alright to start over from the save point. And he did. He backed up and retook them again. It was harder this time around as all his hard work had been lost. Or maybe someone's had. But that was fine. It was his fault really. He'd made the Stairway to Heaven joke and well, that had ended up in puns. What was he really expecting? So he kept on going once again, able to count the stairs because the need to know was higher than the salvation of his feet apparently. He began to recollect once again on the things that happened while he tried again.
He hadn't met as many people as he'd hoped. Maybe his small voice wasn't enough. He'd met two of them. Briefly but that wasn't what he was looking for. Real friends would of been nice but like most games, he discovered, people tended to just do their own thing and ignore those around them. He was rather sad about this. Surely, someone out there wanted to befriend him but he could wait. He could spend his time thinking about loss or about gain. He'd always pick gain. He'd gotten fragments and while he hadn't met her personally his Queen had to be better than that red MONSTER in the castle. She was vile. Surely his was kind and compassionate. Perhaps watching him now and how hard he was trying for her. How while he was climbing up these stairs to beat the final boss. To take her down and win her the crown. Perhaps even, if he made it to the top here she'd tell him it was all a test of his loyalty. He hoped so. He did want to meet his White Queen.
His finger twitched and he was reminded of the itch that needled down into them. That was something else. He hadn't stolen all while he was here. Nothing was taken that Wonderland hadn't given him outright. He wanted to take. Needed to take and yet it seemed hellbent on taking from him instead. Not giving him at all what he wanted. Just waving it in front of his face with "Try Me" instead. His desperate hungry hands reached out and clambored over the walls as he spoke and he shook his head. There was nothing here to take. It was only dark and stone. Nothing he could steal away for himself but his hands itched violently and twitched and spasmed. They would not give up. And he knew.
The Rat King dropped to his hands and began to rush up the stairs. Fed by need he began to take the stairs faster, each thrust of his arms and impact of his palms on stone counting as a stair as he thrust himself upward. He was flying now. Rising up the stairs as fast as he could. Perhaps he could get to the top. Earn his rest. There had to be something for him there. Had to be. He knew there wasn't. Nothing had been promised to him but it didn't stop the need. Greedy hands found a pebble and it was thrust into his pocket without him noticing. It wasn't enough to stave it off but he would take it.
He'd passed three thousand. He was well on his way now, he believed. After all when he started he wasn't sure he'd make it to the halfway point but now, now he was riding the wind through this winding tunnel. Where was his final destination. The end of his quest? More stairs? It was impossible to stay. He wasn't even sure he was going UP. This was Wonderland and its signs never seemed to know what was physically possible and what wasn't. Still he kept going. Once again he found himself wondering about the White Queen. If her Red counterpart was that didn't make her any better. Perhaps, she was worse and he'd joined the wrong side? But did it matter in the end? She was his and if he fought hard enough then maybe he would get to reach her and meet her himself.
Was this a waste of time? Maybe. Maybe it all was. He couldn't be sure. But nothing was going to hold him back. Not anymore. More pebbles made it into his pockets and left him clacking up the stairs. Once again he thought of the joke of it all. Was this just a set up for a Scareway to Heaven joke? He would hope not. Thought it might be worth hearing after all this when he got to the top. Though he'd prefer some classics first. Maybe Scare on My Wayword Song. That was a good one. Or even Anyway you Fear it by Fearney. That'd be nice too. He began to hum them under his breath all while counting. He could almost taste how close he was to the end. Maybe he still had nearly two thousand to go but it was better than being at the start.
Three thousand four hundred and seven steps. He was nearly there. He just had to keep trucking. He wondered if farther up the staircase there were more people like him, stuck more than halfway up and trying so hard to finish. If they too were moving as fast and as hard as they could for something that simply made them want to complete the conquest. Was there another soul like him? Wondering about themselves, dealing with an internal vice as they dug their claws into the stone and left scratch marks on the surface? Or was he alone and there was no one else there. Just the echoing silence of the 'scrape scrape' of nails and the 'thunk thunk' of his shoes?
If he was alone was he being punished? Had he no collected enough fragments to please his queen? It was true, he hadn't done many side quests and he was hardly the highest leveled. Perhaps, in a fit of upset she'd sentenced him here to forever climb the never ending stairway. To forever fight his way to the top. He began to wonder if there was an end. Was he just doomed forever to pass through unable to leave? Fear was tickling at the back of his mind now. Rats were paranoid souls at best and now it was starting to show. .He had less, in his mind, than two thousand left. Nearly a thousand. How close to that would he be able to see the end? Would he be right on top of it with only a few more to go? Or would his resolve fail before then. Would the Queen be waiting at the top, eyes of white fire. Would she, upon seeing her cowardly servant, thrust down upon him a punishment more than this?
Three thousand seven hundred and six. Did he even want to reach the top of this Hells keep? Did he really think she would give him such a task without a reason? His claws were slowing now, both sore and hesitant. If he reached the top and it was only danger then why rush to it so quickly? But then there was no going back either. Of course, he could descend all those stairs and make it back to the bottom but could he? Half of the game had been the knowledge of getting there. To know how many stairs there really were and he was so close to knowing. If he gave up now then there would always be that nagging wanting to know how far he could go. Even if he was a panting heap, resting on the stairs trying to think of if his fate was worth those extra steps. Almost to four thousand now. He began to press on, tails flaring out behind him. Each step was met stronger. Just keep going, he had to tell himself. If he kept going then good or bad he'd made it to the top.
Yes, he decided, just knowing how many stairs was enough. Knowing that he, a common thief, had taken up such an under taking and had gotten there. Gotten to the end of this stairway was enough for him. No matter what lay before him.He gnashed his teeth with the song of rebellion in his head. He, Basile, yes, Basile! Not Willard but the rat that started this journey as going to make it. Just a few steps more and he, he would of mate it to four thousand. That was it. Only a thousand more to go after that. If his math was right. Which it probably wasn't but that was his goal and he wouldn't loose sight of it. THERE! He passed that threshold. He'd made it passed four thousand. Now each step felt like fire in his gut.
Now it was less than a thousand. Each step was taking him up higher in his goal. Each one was sending him forward in to whatever fate lay before him. Each time he put his hand or foot down he was nearly to the top. He could do a thousand stairs. He could beat this if he tried. There! Less now than nine hundred. The goal was in sight. He laughed to himself as he bounded up and down across them. He was going to do this. HE had proved himself worthy. If only to himself then at least he'd done it. It was the longest he'd ever gone. His nails once sharp were blunt now by the stone and his squinty eyes had been made wider by the lack of light. He was a blur, racing along the stairway with all the power he could muster. A jubilant laugh escaped his lips and through his large incisors. There! Eight hundred more steps to go. He imagined if he looked hard enough he could see the goal.
He could do eight hundred stairs in his sleep. He went fast as he could, fast as he dared to go without without slipping on the cool stone. He loped and raced and anything else one could use to describe it. He no longer cared about the goal or what awaited his fate. He was nearly there. Each step was like flying and each downward palm slapping across the stone was like his wings. Each flap sent him going farther. He as grinning now a manic thing.
Seven hundred steps. He cackled and it echoed across the stairway. HE, the Rat King was going down in his own perverse history! The man who triumphed. Not a boy of fifteen but a man of glory who'd achieved his goal. Fingers itched harder as now they longed to steal not something physical but for the first time in his life they longed to take something even greater. Pride in his own self. They wanted it. He wanted it. His tails were shooting sparks up his body. His brothers agreeing with his cause. The mass of rats inside of him squirming delight as he he reached it.
Six hundred. He was so close. He was wickedly laughing now as he jumped from step to step. Nothing would stop his ascent. Nothing. He was there. He could see it. If he looked way up. If he tilted his head the right way he could see where he was going. His aching sore limbs and blunt bleeding nails were ignored. He was so close. So terrifyingly close. He only had so far to go.
He slipped. He fell back and so close. He let out a swear as he tumbled back and landed. How many? HOW MANY? How would he know where he lost count? He cried out with agony that only comes from someone loosing their dreams in front of their eyes. Nearly in tears he wrenched out his pocket card, smashed at the buttons. "Tell me! How far am I? Where is this?" He asked shaking it.
It began to whir and he held his breath. "Four thousand five hundred and sixty." It echoed and he let out a triumphant sound. He'd only lost twenty. He could get them back. Like a mad man he took to running again, limbs flailing furiously. He could see now where his claw marks had ended and narrowed his eyes as he picked up speed. He passed it and delight ran through him. He was there. He was going to make it. He hadn't fallen so far that he could not resume. Thunder pounded through his heart. He was nearly there now. He could see it now. A flat platform waiting for him. He was aiming for it. So tired and blood smeared about his face and his nails from his fall from grace.
He was wheezing heavily as he grinned to himself, "Four thousand seven hundred and five." That mean he only had three hundred to go. He kept pushing himself. Once again his thoughts went to his Queen and his family this time. What they would think if the saw him now. Basile! With a goal. With a purpose. Finally completing something he'd worked so hard on. No matter the pain he felt it was nothing this moment. He could feel himself leaving the ground as he tried so hard to make it to his goal. Red stained where he'd been showing his progress across the steps.
He could just keep going. He was so tired. He could just keep going. His bones ached so much. He had to persevere. He had to take himself to that level. Now it was no matter of pride. It was matter of need. Of self discovery. Of knowing his limits and how far he was willing to go. He knew now he was no spinelessness animal. He was going to get into the Academy. He was going to make friends. He was going to learn to use his ablities for good and to be a greater person. He was goingto be a real King instead of one in title. He was going to beat this game at its own game.
Less than a hundred now. Less than a few steps. His speed had been faultering. He was swaying. He wasn't sure he could take those final steps. His vision was bluring, he realized. It wasn't the dark. He took each step with dedication. Firmly planting his palm. He wasn't flying anymore. His wings had fallen off. He pulled himself now, dragged his body up each and every single step.
Only a few more to go. Ten steps. He could see the end in sight. He heaved his body up and over flopping lifelessly down. He'd done it. He'd made it. He shut his eyes and his head lolled to the side. He was so tired....
... he'd just.... rest... a while.

Oh look, there were so many stares! OuO looked upon them with wonder, wondering how far up they could possibly go. How many steps there were in total. She gave them a mighty big stare, one similar to that of her username and began to make the climb.
She went up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up. Counting each step as she went.
One stair, two stairs, three stairs, four stairs, five stairs, six stairs, so many stairs, seven stairs, eight stairs, nine stairs, ten stairs, eleven stairs, twelves stairs, thirteen stairs, fourteen stairs, fifteen stairs, sixteen stairs, seventeen stairs, eighteen stairs, nineteen stairs, twenty stairs, twenty one stairs, twenty two stairs, twenty three stairs, twenty four stairs, twenty six stairs, twenty seven stairs, twenty eight stairs, twenty nine stairs, thirty stairs, thirty one stairs, thirty two stairs, thirty three stairs, thirty four stairs, thirty five stairs, thirty six stairs, thirty seven stairs, thirty eight stairs, thirty nine stairs, forty stairs, forty one stairs, forty two stairs, forty three stairs, forty four stairs, forty five stairs, forty six stairs, forty seven stairs, forty eight stairs, forty nine stairs, fifty stairs, fifty one stairs, fifty... fifty....
OuO stopped and looked down. Staring at the stair beneath her, her brows creasing as she tried to remember the very big number she had gotten up to all on her own while she was looking down at the stairs and counting. Was she on fifty.... one? Two? Or just plain fifty? She couldn't remember and it was making her so very very very very very sad! She had gotten up to such a big number on her very own!
With a very loud sigh, she decided to go back down and try again.
And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And it should be mentioned that she was also singing while she went down.
Halfway down the stairs, Is a stair where I sit, There isn't any other stair, Quite like it, I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top, So this, Is the stair, Where I always stop, Halfway up the stairs, Isn't up, And isn't down, It isn't in the nursery, It isn't in the town, And all sorts of funny thoughts, They run through my head, It isn't really anywhere, It's somewhere else instead, Oh oh, Halfway down the stairs, Is a stair where I sit, There isn't any other stair, Quite like it, I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top, So this, Is the stair, Where I always, Stop. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. And hopped down. (She was probably hopping down way too much but it wasn't like she was counting while she was going down, shh!) Until she was at the very bottom of the stairs once more.
She could do this! She could get this to work! She was going to count this all right! She was she was she was!
So, the small ghoul began her climb once again.
And went up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up. And up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up. Counting each step as she went again.
One stair, two stairs, three stairs, four stairs, five stairs, six stairs, so many stairs, seven stairs, eight stairs, nine stairs, ten stairs, eleven stairs, twelves stairs, thirteen stairs, fourteen stairs, fifteen stairs, sixteen stairs, seventeen stairs, eighteen stairs, nineteen stairs, twenty stairs, twenty one stairs, twenty two stairs, twenty three stairs, twenty four stairs, twenty six stairs, twenty seven stairs, twenty eight stairs, twenty nine stairs, thirty stairs, thirty one stairs, thirty two stairs, thirty three stairs, thirty four stairs, thirty five stairs, thirty six stairs, thirty seven stairs, thirty eight stairs, thirty nine stairs, forty stairs, forty one stairs, forty two stairs, forty three stairs, forty four stairs, forty five stairs, forty six stairs, forty seven stairs, forty eight stairs, forty nine stairs, fifty stairs...
This was where she had gotten stuck last time and she was determined not to have it happen again. No, she was at fifty and she knew it!
So, she kept going. Slowly and carefully.
Fifty one stairs, fifty two stairs, fifty three stairs, fifty four stairs, fifty five stairs, fifty six stairs, fifty seven stairs, fifty eight stairs, fifty nine stairs, sixty stairs, sixty one stairs, sixty six stairs, sixty seven stairs, sixty eight stairs, sixty nine stairs, seventy stairs! Seventy one stairs, seventy two stairs, seventy three stairs, seventy four stairs, seventy five stairs, seventy six stairs, seventy seven stairs, seventy eight stairs, seventy nine stairs, eighty stairs, eighty one stairs, eighty two stairs, eighty three stairs, eighty four stairs, eighty five stairs, eighty six stairs, eighty seven stairs, eighty nine stairs, ninety stairs, ninety one stairs, ninety two stairs, ninety three stairs, ninety four stairs, ninety five stairs, ninety six stairs, ninety seven stairs, ninety eight stairs, ninety nine stairs.
Oh look! There were one hundred stairs! OuO bounced on the very top one and did a little hop. She had counted each and every single stair and she was so very very proud of herself for managing to do it. But she still had so many words to fill out in order to reach the limit of words that this thing required. So she began to twirl around in place. Wondering if any of her friends would meet her.
Twirled around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around, but then she got dizzy. That wasn't good so she decided to figure out something else she could do to pass the time before she headed up another flight of stairs (if she was going to do that, really she probably wasn't there were only so many times she could do this).
Maybe she should sing again! Something different!
"I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I'm at the top of the stairs! I wonder who will find me ~"
Would someone? She didn't know. She waited and listened. And then got back to singing.
I'm at the top of the stairs! I wonder who will find me."
Or maybe she would wait a little longer before going up. Someone might find her, she didn't know. Maybe she would sit.
So she sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. So she sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. And hummed. Seeing if anyone else she knew would come up.
